Somali parliament votes out speaker linked to Islamic movement
Sky replied to Che -Guevara's topic in Politics
Good news upon good news these days. Ethiopians are gradually pulling out, preparing themselves to be replaced by AU peacekeepers. Sharif Hassan voted out. Shaikh Sharif captured today. I wonder what tomorrow will bring. -
Sharif has been taken care of. It would have been more preferable for him to resign himself, but nothing worthwile can be expected from this weasel. His eviction could cause some initial setbacks and difficulties, but I believe we're all better off without him.
-
Why Ayoub? The British forumers didn't reply to your urgent private message yet?
-
If it doesn't damage the overall security of the city, than why not I suppose. The Ethiopians need to be sent home. As soon as they're replaced by AU peacekeepers, a major deal of tension will decline on all sides of the Somali people.

War intee na geysey? I had something else in mind. At least where the kidnapped ladies are treated somewhat with dignity. I'm talking about stories like that of Faraax Afxakame's kidnapping of Samawade, wife-to-be of his cousin Cali Duulane. The kidnapping caused a major subclan warfare whereby both men lost their lives. You're probably talking about the tragic ordeal of Careys Ciise Kaarshe's daughter being raped by two sons of Siad Barre's government officials. That is something the Somali people have never forgotten and never will.

UK_ROSE, It could have been worse. At least you're not addicted to breast milk like some grown men here in SOL. Their mothers have issued a restraining order against their own children for their own safety. I invite these people to open a thread about their predicament or I'm going to start naming some of them. You know who you are.

Cambarro, Those that made you believe that that practice is just a myth have put your life in considerable risk when you were in Somalia. And no, it's not a myth. Stranger things have happened in the name of love. Entire clans have been robbed by one of their own, a love-struck fool, hellbent on reaching the dhowry-deadline.

Do not misinterpret this post. Not hating just stating. I prefer thin women, but this one needs a burger or two. She's about to fall apart. She's only one meal away from life support. Other than that she looks beautiful. Like the kind of girls oo la afduubi jirey, meel gaar ahna lagu xareeyn jirey untill her family begs you to marry her.

Barre can name his kids' babysitter as the mayor of Kismaayo if he desires so. Won't change the fact that their former JVA partner (the powerful and resourceful one of the two) in crime has been decimated by Ethiopia and outplayed and outsmarted by Col Yeey. It won't chance the fact that there are new players in the Kismaayo scene like Colonels Koojaar and Afguduud flexing their muscles in Kismaayo. It won't change the fact that the lion share of the properties in Kismaayo are registered under Somalis from Puntland origins. Least of all it won't change Kismaayo's relatively young Somali history. Col Yeey is using Barre, because he doesn't need yet another clan opposing him to make matters more complicated. I'm surprised that Horn really believed that Col Yeey 'approved' Gedo take over of Kismaayo. Surely you can't be so naïve. It must be the desire that is making you lose it. Calaa kuli xaal, let's see wether Barre's appointments really goes into effect or wether it's just all talk. The JVA period is long albeit gone, the former opressed and indigenous are taking no sh!t from anybody, least of all Barre Hiiraale.

Oodweyne and I are miles apart. I do not dwell in the past nor do I fool myself like he does.

The interim government will invite the genuine and honest elements of the UIC (Sheikh Sharif calibre) to join the rebuilding of a broken nation. The interim government with the help of the International Community will stabilize Somalia and reinstate a working government apparatus (Puntland, Somaliland standard) till the elections in 2009. Hopefully 2010 will be the official start of Somalia's rebirth with massive investments and large-scale development programmes. Insha Allah.

HornAfrique, I had some bitter discussion with some people about the reason why the Clan Court terrorists vacated Mogadishu (to salvage its residents and their hanti) only to fight in the Jubbas and risk the livelihoods of the Somalis there. Do you also believe that it had nothing to do with strategy nor goodwill, but qabiilism at its most rotten form.
-
^ A slight snare towards Oodweyne and it means those that wanted to see Abdullahi Yusuf fall flat on his face. Which is the only thing that seemed to unite the Clan Court terrorists and the seccesionists on this new development. So hold your horses, you didn't prove anything.

The Ethiopians should stay till the country stabilizes itself and the Somali government is strong enough to control the country by itself. Till then the Ethiopian force needs to be used as a walking stick. The government and the people need to stay focused of the possibilities for the near future if things are handled in the right away. Empty cries by the defeated lot and bogus claims of Ethiopia occupying us/annexing us need to be ignored. We need to stay focused and work hard for unity and the reinstitution of government authority. It's about time.
-
Here's an impression of the Ethiopian military, thought it might be interesting for some to see what they're all about. This is a military training camp of the Ethiopian military. They train together with and are assisted by the US military based in Djibouti.

Taliban, That 'Ethiopian' is a Somali parliamentarian called Cabdirashiid Ciiro as General Duke pointed out. Before you accuse me of being a TFG insider, I know this because he's my close relative. He filled in the vacant MP position of the President. The Defeated lot, keep spreading the lies. Show us what you're made of.

By late 90s they gained control of Berbera port and you were jubilant about that. As in matter of fact they are in control of the entire Somaliland, as many ONLF freedom fighters and Ina Waraabe can attest to that. I don't know wether your calaacal stems from Ina Yeey's surprisingly enhanced position in the Somali political landscape or that Ethiopia has lost significant interest altogether in Somaliland with these new developments in the south of the country. Or is it both? It certainly isn't your love for the Clan Courts or Somalia in general. Iskaba dhaaf ictiraafkii, Berbera Corridor jaaw ku dheh.
-
He came to the far more dangerous Mogadishu of the mid-90s to negotiate with his old comrade Caydiid Sr. So he's not afraid of Mogadishu, he is being careful as assasination attempts can be committed by any dimwit in Mogadishu at this stage. Just go down to memory lane and remember the failed attempt to take Geedi's life when he came to Mogadishu. Everyone would secure the city first, before entering it. What did you think he was, a pre-september-2006 Xamar warlord? Do not insult his intelligence please. Maandhow, Ina Yeey will be in Xamar before the end of January! Kismaayo has also been liberated by then, saan uu jeclahay. So keep talking. Keep talking.
-
It's something Reer Mudug Castro, nothing you'll understand. Allowing indicates weakness, leading equals strength.
-
Long time no see indeed Horn. Hope all is well with you. Kismayo will be liberated soon IA. When it is, we will have enough material to debate about saan uu filaayo.
-
I think Horn meant the betrayal of the Clan Courts when they stabbed the neutral Barre in the back. I could be wrong.

Taliban, It's also in the transitional government's interest to have a ceasefire. But only after achieving some important short-term objectives first. Acquire landmass and strategic towns, substantially weaken and isolate the Clan Courts Union and raising the public's perception of its capabilities. Che, These warlords are tools. Qaybdiid, Hiiraale, Maxamed Dheere, Cabdi Waal, Yuusuf Dabageed etc. should be discarded as used condoms during the negotations with these Clan Courts.
