FOREIGN HELICOPTERS SKY HUNTING SOMALI LIFE Somalia -Has Somalia wildlife been defined as terrorists? Are the ostriches, gazelles and warthogs harbouring terrorists? From late of 2008 up to the present foreign helicopters patroling warships in Somali waters have been poaching and stealing wildlife from the coastal villages in North Eastern, Somalia. Farah Ahmed an elder in Eyl district told Islamonline.net, IOL. Elders and nomadic families of the coastal villages in Puntland, a self-declared state in northeastern Somalia, are suffering from foreign helicopters that are hunting and stealing wildlife on the outskirts of the villages in coastal areas. The most targeted areas by the flying poachers are Nugal, Karkar and Mudug regions. “Foreign helicopters are poaching and stealing wildlife from the coastal villages. They are terrorizing the nomadic families, and this is affecting their livestock. Many children have been lost after being terrified by the planes,” said Mohammed Yusuf, another elder in Gar’ad Village in Mudug region. Jim'ale. Freelance Journalist in Nairobi

Road Construction between Burao and Erigavo - A Great move by locals
NASSIR replied to Jacaylbaro's topic in Politics
InshaAllah, when we have a government of national union, a much-needed focus on infrastructure projects shall be possible. Btw, there have been similar major road works done through a voluntary and non-voluntary basis in Buraan area in the south and the northern mountaineous Geeldoora road of Sanaag. -

Puntland should declare itself the republic of Somalia
NASSIR replied to General Duke's topic in Politics
So you can't have your cake and eat it. You can't call the wadaado Religious pretenders and Islamic warlords and yet pin your hopes of the reconquest of the Xabash protectorate of Puntland on them. Lol. That is how a learned distaste does away with your capacity to make rational thoughts. It's obvoius Meiji has passionate distaste for reer Puntland. Duufaan, please clearly define for us where "SSC" and Puntland seperate? If your insinuation is the clannish sense of the word, then you have lost the plot. You have to be coherent and honest in your thoughts about geographical references. Otherwise, it leads to further desperate confusion and mischaracterization of identity just like the secessionists' illusive cards. Sanaag is by majority reer Makhir strongheld base as well as western Bari. Sool as well as southern Sanaag and the District of Buhoodle in Togdheer are by majority Dervish strongheld base. Therefore, my position has been since we have seen centrefugal forces of nurtured and entrenched disunity within the Gerad's centralized governance of reer Sool and "Somaliland" bankrolling local agents to do its highest bidding as it seeks a bigger bargaining chip, we should be fair enough to clarify the issue of Sool and Cayn from that of Sanaag, majority of whom are now rallying for Gen. Ilka-Jir's platform for Puntland. We shall try to restore Puntland to its original purpose and create legitimate political parties that should lessen the clan friction until a government of national union is within a viable reach. -
Aside from Sool and Sanaag being a radical unionist, it seems they have four blocks under force de majeure in their land compared to the three blocks of the North-western. And why there is only one block on the other side of the artificial border?

Sharif Hotel Omar Sharmarke should be arrested for treason
NASSIR replied to General Duke's topic in Politics
Here Mr. Dirshe has presenred his critique to Hosh's premise that Norway as an advanced country extended its technical, legal and financial assistance to both Kenya and Somalia out of a humanitarian gesture. Mr. Dirshe privides an important argument with evidence that the submission of the Memorandum was not required of every country by the Convention on the Law of the Sea. Thus under the circumstance, Somalia, being a failed state and under a bloody conflict has never been in a position of advantage from the perspective of national and economic interest to sign up any treaty or submit MOU on her continental shelf. http://www.hiiraan.com/op2/2009/sept/why_patriotic_somalis_reject_the_mou_between_somalia_and_kenya_ a_fact_check_on_hosh_s_article.aspx -

This was a special report published by the Washington Report on Middle East Affairs. See how it remarkably captures the current political climate. Real the full Report Today all Somalis agree that any national government that comes into existence must be a representative democracy with every region exercising autonomous control over its own affairs. This consensus may prove to be a political watershed. The days when regions and localities routinely transferred their own resources to Mogadishu for the benefit of the ruling class without receiving developmental programs in return are history, even though an alternative administrative model has not yet been worked out. The Somali people deserve the support of the international community, and in particular the Islamic world, to help them chart an equitable, democratic system of government. The proud history that shaped the Somali national identity deserves no less. The goal of all Somalis is to restore traditional self-respect and lawful enterprise and to become self-supporting, instead of panhandling the West to freeload on foreign aid. To do so, Somalis must decide where they want to fit in in the present world order. Do they wish to adopt secular governmental administrative mechanisms in an effort to become part and parcel (or an appendage, depending on one's viewpoint) of the wider Western civilization? Or do they wish to seek an alternative system by working toward the creation of a society within the rules of the shariah (deductive reasoning included), restore traditional values and turn to the Islamic approach to governance? One way or another, they must choose.

I think this news article sums it all up. As much as people would like to distort his words for political reasons, it's wise and fair to give a faithful representation of his words. Faroole dismissed the alleged extraordinary rendition of innocent people from the ****** region. "Puntland is home to many people with diverse backgrounds," he said. "The State hosts thousands of IDPs from the south, thousand other citizens of the Somali Republic, and Somali-speaking individuals and families from the Zone Five Region of Ethiopia," Faroole explained. "But as President of Puntland, I will not allow our regions to be used as a launching pad by an armed tribal organization and risk the destabalization of our neighboring countries," the president reiterated. Faroole claimed to have obtained documents that the five men in detention had been members of an ONLF group directly trained by Eritrea. "Puntland will not be used as a launching pad by any armed tribal organization" Faroole

It was his father that had the title, Lord Aden or Adan Lord.

AllPuntland is an extremely biased site. What Puntland site would employ "Sanaag-Bari" a term coined by the secessionists. I remember how it completely ignored the Majihan conflict, while now it seems quick to jump into this mostly unreported, unverified skirmish between, perhaps, a paid sneaking agent from the region and his guards. AllPuntland has also completely ignored the key speakers of Maakhir intellectuals at the recent Puntland Diaspora Forum. Instead it went to the extreme end. It's very divisive site and a spin doctor of events. Anyway, most of the sites of Sanaag, Haylaan and western Bari have yet to report this skirmish. We shall know the full details in the passing hours, if it's true.

Koora, Mr. Ali Aden Lord founded the famous North Eastern People Progressive Party (NPPP). During his political career he campaigned vigorously to improve the conditions of Somalis in the 4 frontier Districts from its utter neglect and isolation. He was very much liked and particularly popular in his letters and petitions to different governors in pre-independent Kenya. He raised the bar for economic development and strove to secure a coherent policy of integration. Of special note is the introduction of educational facilities in the region and of scholarships. In mid 1961, Ali Aden Lord and British Secretary for Colonial Affairs met each other in Nairobi and discussed over NPPP's independent platform. He was allowed to attend the Constitutional Conference at Lancaster House in London. At the Conference, Ali Adan Lord articulated Somalis' fear and concern over their political rights as a religiously distinct and minority ethnic group. He pleaded his case that if Britain did not give the NFD the right to self-determination before it handed over political power to Kenya, "the frontier could expect neglect, bad administration and disregard for their rights at best and at worst oppression". For this, he became the sole candidate for the entire NFD and won his seat in the Parliament as a KADU -Independent member. Ali Aden became a member of the LEGCO in 1960, a Legislative Council whose membership had been previously exclusive to white settlers until late 1950s. He was very much aware of the futility of the secessionist platform of NPPP. Nevertheless the concept of Greater Somalia dominated public opinion and he used it as a crucial rallying point for his mandate over what his critics referred to as a "weak grassroots base" because having born, educated and lived outside the region for most of his life, he did not want to be seen as an outsider and collaborator of the colonial designs of Kenya. He used the secessionist platform to address the underlying ethnic grievances. Consequently he filed a number of petitions to the governor Sir Patrick Renison that Somalis be given a greater autonomy in their political, cultural and social affairs. However, it was concluded at the Lancaster House that Somalis from the non-self governing Somali territory of NFD shared a common political destiny with the rest of Kenya despite the findings of an independent Commission appointed by the British Government that Somalis were in favor of an independence and immediate union with Somalia. Though a federal solution was proposed in the Kenyan constitution as an amendment on the eve of Independence, the government suspended the clause and opted for a centralized format in 1964. And Jomo Kenyatta vehemently defended his country's terriorial integrity even if takes using lethal force. He later adopted a long-term policy that the political issues between the secessionist-inspired NPPP and the two major political parties of KADU and KANU be resolved through consensus and mutual respect. HE Interior Minister Aden Lord was a catalyst for the degree of contemporary political participation of Somalis in Kenya.
