Jamaal, raggan dhalinyarada ee Donyale iyo Barkhad howl weyn bay hayaan. The likes of Guleed and other talented singers rose to the spotlight because of their collaboration with him. The young singer stand as refreshing and positive reflection contrary to the contemporary image we have of them today.

Everyone has their own unique taste and preferences. I liked the music and melody with which the song follows in perfect harmony with the lyrics. Another hit song. Mr. Donyale is a young educated and talented producer/writer, and the bulk of his musical work has the style of simplicity as it alternates from passionate wisdom to the call of nationalism. It's an interesting that such a lofty work is attracting both criticism and praise. But the unqualified critics in here seem to miss a crucial point. The young Somali generation is vast and growing; it takes only a talented person to grasp our trend of social and polical dynamics, balance traditional genres with modernity and then tailor it to capturing the attention of that growing segment-- reminding them of their roots and culture--and instiling in them a sense of national pride. Great song & may you keep serving your country and people. I truly enjoyed it.

Two of the most inspiring articles I've read--an in-depth analysis on Somalia's history, culture and politics was written by this author. ETHIOPIA AND SOMALIA : MISSED OPPORTUNITIES AND SOME CHALLENGES Oralism and the Murky Waters of Somali History

Link "Governance traces the origins of Somalia’s chronic and debilitating problems to the 19th century European scramble for Africa. It identifies its problems of governance – pre-colonial, colonial, and post-colonial – and refutes the argument that both the unitary system and an outmoded and archaic clan system were to blame. The author prescribes “good governance” in which the pre-eminence of the traditional clan system will be recognized while operating modern structures of governance, for he believes that tradition and modernity are not necessarily mutually exclusive."

This is my correspondence with an Ausi investor of RR back then. I'm sure Peacenow knows why we are in this deep hole of social and political decline. But let me repost it for the benefit of outsiders who maybe reading this thread. ------------------------ Hi Ahmed, I find it sadly ironic that one of the poorest nations in the world is adjacent to one of the richest ( Suadi arabia). thanks for the reply all the best James ----- You wlc. Our political and economic progress were stunted by our initial adoption of the Communist doctrine which heavily banned and discouraged--through its internal policies and media monopoly---the private ownership of property. The dictatorship also exploited and divided the people. But our biggest debacle and political state failure was our burning desire to solve the border disputes with Ethiopia in 1977 through military means and not through a constructive dialogue and compromise. We were abandoned by our then supporter, the Soviets, in favor of Ethiopia, which at the time had a new military junta officers in power. The junta embraced communism and Ethiopia was then seen as more strategic than Somalia because of its relative huge population. The U.N and the rest then took a decisive stance. They saw Somalia's invasion as a violation of the Territorial integrity of Ethiopia. Consequently, the Soviets were given a Security Council resolution to go to war wi th Somalia. It deployed over 10, 000 Cuban troops and a large number of East Germans and South Yemen. Somalia was defeated and huge displacement of Somalis in the occupied territory drained the resources of the state in that it was too overwhelmed to respond to the humanitarian crisis. Besides, the ever growing public discontent with the government's policies resurfaced to the top. This time it had to fight for its own survival and against her people. Ethiopia as well with the assistance of the west pursued destabilization policies in the region and armed local tribes with political grievances. Somalia as a state ceased to exist and the world didn't help prevent the problems from becoming intractable. Now it's divided and weak. Puntland is born out of the crisis and its incumbent president has been infamous of corruption, nepotism, the rise of piracy and other charges unlike his predecessor Yusuf. The latter was a real statesman by putting more of his resources on maintaining peace and fighting corruption. I think it's in the best interest of the company you purchased an ownership interest to see a stable Puntland. It looks they are still supporting Hersi but what further benefit could be achieved for 4 more years of the same old policies that divided and failed us Best Regards, Ahmed H. ---------------- Hi Ahmed, thanks for informative reply. English is my first language yet I am unable to articulate my words as well as your self and other posters on SOL. How is it that so many of you are very well spoken/educated? i think if your people were given the opportunity free of conflict you would achieve great things. Hopefully the new president will usher in a welcomed change for your oppressed people. thanks again for your communications James --- James, you very much welcome. Best wishes Ahmed

I foresee great many things, innovative in essence, to be done in the distant and near future for the region. Sheikh Khalid is also said to have a plan with secured funding to rebuild a major road. Originally posted by Koora-Tuunshe: Nassir: thanks for posting. I am good friend of young Abbas. His next song/video is called "Bur'o". He mentioned to me that he will shoot the video both Burco and New York. He told me that this song is personal to him as he grew up in Bur'o. How will Bur'o be depicted then as "Somaliland" or in its realistic geography: Somalia, in the video? Looking forward to it.

Some of them like Said and Fahiye contributed to the Amoud and East African foundation. This one will be a very legitimate and competitive one since there are so many High schools in the region and the need for it is critical to the community.

Qudhac, meet the Kuweiti born Maakhiri Sheikh Khalid and his capacity-building projects throughout the Sanag region. Though he's not involved in this one, he built the secondary schools in Erigavo, maternal clinics, remodeling of the General Hospital in Erigavo, a lot of Masjids and now he is on track to build over 100 houses for the orphans in the major cities of Sanaag: Erigavo, Dhahar, and Badhan. His work has been very much detailed at this event by Prof. Ali Hersi. And many of the attendees were glad to learn that such heroes don't make the news.

NN, Laasqoray Port will be built InshaAllah. Security challenges, esp Piracy, is its chief obstacle right now and that's a matter of time to deal with it and eliminate. There had been two incidents of such case caused by a network of gangs, some from the region and others from distant regions. With the creation of strong administration, well-paid and trained army and police, we would be able to restore confidence of the security sector in the region. Sanaag is one of the peaceful regions of Somalia.

You wlc Dabshid. LST, we concur on many points. Aside from the topic I am a passionate advocate of a seperate, transitional self-administering states for reer Maakhir and Sool as recognized by the UNISOM once in 1994. This goal if achieved would eliminate the uncereminious label of "disputed regions", which would then engender a culture of transperancy, accountability, good governance, and democratic leadership to take firm roots in these regions. It will also reverse the socio-economic ramifications that the skepticism of outside donors express toward the uncertainty of the local security guarantees. Thanksful, The article is not about a certain clan, it's about informing the western donors of such entities as PIS stand for and of the consequences of their target policies. If war were to be waged, PIS won't stand a day but that is one of the hidden agenda that can be learned from its actions through the policy direction of its leadership and structure. It has to be reformed or and its mandate of autonomy from the parliament phased out.

^Beer Gaal, it's a complicated issue as there has always been unresolved issues between these two sub-clans of Qardho and Dhahar. A mother was seriously injured when these PIS group stormed the houses in that El-Dahir village for the arbitrary arrest and torture of 20 young men following pseudo-terrorism charges. And now it appears an innocent man from Laag has been killed in Boosaaso. It's amazing that all of this is happening when the Galka'yo dispute has turned into a deadly, clan warfare.
