  1. Fergusson, Why do you have to link Galgala's conflict with that of al-Shabaab's sinister agenda when the latter's spokesman has already denied involvement?
  2. Che, now that most international news media have borrowed from the fabrications of Farole, it will take a quite time to repair the damages caused by the circulation of such false allegations. A local territorial conflict was suddenly given an arbitrary definition with serious implications to global peace and security. al-Shabab won't have denied involvement of this local conflict if the claim by the "Pirate Chief" had been known to be true.
  3. Fergusson, sheekadii isku dirka aheed baad wadaa miyaa? just because I opined my take on UWSLF. Why link Atam and Shangoole in the same shoes. The first is a local commander of a clan militia that has vowed to fight the PIS's policies and PL's land expansion. The latter belongs to an international terrorism. Cawke, that is a good proposition. Reconciliation headed by the elders of Farole and Atam and a complete reform of the PIS.
  4. Farole and his supporters are clutching at straws in their attempt to suppress the nature of the conflict. What does "coming down on mountains" suggest other than a guerilla fighting tactics. The Galgala Militia manifest the characteristics of local guerilla fighters. They do not harm civilians nor do they choose their battles inside a densely populated city. They took it outside where they are challenging and exposing the incompetent and corrupt admin of Farole. How many times we had seen dozens of young men from Galgala rounded and detained or killed inside Bosaso or where their economic activities faced serious threat?
  5. A Summary of the Sheikh's words in English, posted by SOL member, Xudeedi. : The Sheikh made it clear that they are an independent Islamic movement instituted to counter prolonged injustices in Western Bari region. He also highlighted that it’s a local driven initiative that is not part of Al-shabaab. The sheikh stated that the skirmish that took place in Karin yesterday resulted after the local clan of Western Bari, specifically farmers were abandoned to take their goods to Bosaaso. At last, the sheikh welcomed any peace process despite the fact that the administration broke prior treaties. From this interview, one can see that the administration has been aware of this clan initiative in Western Bari for some-time. One might ask, why would Faroole accuse this movement to have terror links when he negotiated with them few months ago? Obviously foreign interference is due.
  6. ^adeer don't shove on people what they themselves have not admitted. According to Bloomberg, Ethiopia signed an agreeement with these Islamist rebels. Pics of UWSLF..
  7. Great News indeed! We await the input of Abtigiis and many other concerned citizens of this land.
  8. Bring this up..LST just posted a milestone agreement btw Ethiopia and the Islamist rebels.
  9. Adami is Maakhiri. What happened to Qoorseef from DamallaHagare/Erigavo District? I thought he would be reappointed.
  10. Originally posted by Thankful: I wonder why Nassir refuses to respond?? Atam has made it clear who he aligns himself with. Thankful, Paltalk is not a good source, but let's wait the coming days. One thing that should give all of us a grasp of the situation is that the man has been in Galgala since 2005, and he has not imposed any of the harsh sentences that is known to the radical group in the south. For instance, ordering the residents of Galgala to quit watching sports, or Music, etc. I know of this group and their danger to our society. I wrote an article back in 2006 prior to Ethiopia's invasion and I clearly predicted what was coming to Somalia. However, this issue of Galgala and Bosasso has a clan dimension, a competition over resources and territorial rights.
  11. Lool@pipesmoking Qawdhan. Cawke appears to be honest in his questions but he is so tendentious and hillarious. Xamar needs a big AU force and an inclusive and transparent government. I think this time with IGAD and AU's serious stance, the radical al-Shabaab will be in the trashpin of Somalia's history.
  12. The local warlord has been singled out by the UN Security Council for violating an arms embargo and is believed to be a key supplier of arms to the Al Qaeda-inspired Shebab group that controls much of the rest of Somalia Source: AFP This is a BIG twist of the report by the UN monitoring Group. The man is known to be arms dealer according to the report. The report also mentions that he supplies weapons to ONLF, a fact that has angered Ethiopia and hence its interest in getting rid of him. I'll post that report. [/QB] 40. As an example, the Monitoring Group received information that on 9 January 2008, a fishing boat from Yemen docked at a small port under the control of a ********** clan militia between Las Qoray and Maidh, in East Sanaag, with 1.5 tons of AK-47s and pistols on board. The consignment, offloaded onto pickup trucks, was arranged by Somaliland arms traders. A local businessman explained to the Monitoring Group that Yemeni dhows deliver arms, and fuel, to local clans as payment for fishing rights. The ********** clans, in control of Las Qoray port, are major supporters of the ****** National Liberation Front (ONLF), supplying them with weapons and using routes along the Puntland border, through Boocame, in territories ruled by the *********** clan, with whom they have good relations. 14. Thanks LST, David is a great speaker and young global leader.

  16. We already have managed to pacify the sharif bloc and the little qanyare bloc will be lost without such backing from rra/yusuf garad ppl Delusions of grandeur, but hillarious lol. Puntland Empire can sure "pacify" the above clan blocs.
  17. "They are quick to return home when they realize it was all a false dawn. How many times in single week can an individual witness a false dawn? It’s weird when one notices the latest rehashed talking points." First indigenous is a term, a political term, in reference to the natives of the land. Its core meaning permeats the essence of your post or the sinister designs of Puntland in seeking a world wide support to crash an internal opposition under the false pretext of "terrorism". Its propoganda machinary has so far proved to be far-reaching and vociferous, even winning the hearts and minds of the most gullible in the region. My aim was to highlight the moral position of the clan militia in the area as to why they had been forced to defend their territory from illegal exploitation or encroachment. Declaring war on their region (western Bari) has already made things worse, chocking already the economic lifeline of Puntland. And if the conflict continues, it might take on another dimension, one that borders on retaliatory targets, ethnic cleansing, and further suspicion and hostility between clans. I have put forward a solution besides the elders' proposition. A clan reconcliation within the Bosasso region and a structural reform of the economic and political edifices of PL. If that is not posssible, then the case for every clan shifting for itself takes on legitimate position, that is we have to grant reer Galgala their God-given right to be masters of their own destiny over the control and administration of their affairs. Second, the idea of Makhir, which you initially supported, could have become the basis of a new federal state, but it was dissolved by a man whose ambitions transcend the interest of his community despite the hopes and trust that his constituents invested in him. But we shall see how things change.
  18. Xaaji, I agree eventhough Turkey exports 70% of its products to Europe. It has been painful experience for the people of Turkey to deal with the denial of their application just because they have borders with a volatile region (Iran, Syria and Iraq). I think Turkey as a member of EU can strengthen the euro currency and provide relief the debt-strapped countries in terms of more relaxed trade.

  20. David Cameron Backs Turkey's Bid to Join European Union By STEPHEN CASTLE Published: July 28, 2010 BRUSSELS - David Cameron, the British prime minister, on Tuesday sharply criticized opponents of Turkey's membership in the European Union, echoing concerns voiced in the United States that the bloc was doing too little to anchor Ankara within the West. On his first visit to the Turkish capital since becoming prime minister in May, Mr. Cameron likened France's opposition to Turkey's bid for membership to the French veto of Britain's bid to become part of the European Union's forerunner in the 1960s. 21. Neither will I support Faroole's rush decisions that have sinister plots in store. I think, I really do, that the whole issue is economically motivated. That is exactly my point. We should not be blind of the unresolved issues in the region. An Individual is not the problem, for he can be gone or replaced but the political environment that spawned this hostile relationship between the State and the Indigenous clan.
  22. ^The Link posted by Xudeedi says otherwise. Let's not ignore the root causes of Galgala/western Bari issue or prior conflicts that preceded this one.
  23. There are still conflicting reports on this seemingly volatile political atmosphere. I resolved to side with the elders' prior proposition and approach, to which PL's current officials ignored with all manner of accusations against the region and its people. Besides, my earlier analysis, here is a background of this conflict. The Greatest Impediment to Puntland's Progress
  24. Originally posted by Che -Guevara: Isn't Al-Shabaab an indigenous movement? If the world let them be, Somalia will be in better shape. Che, we do not have evidence the clan militia in Galgala has links to al-Shabab. If there's a proof to corroborate the alleged charges, I'll be the first to support the de facto State. This is nothing but a clan and resource driven motivation by a "president" who is unfamiliar with the terrain of clan politics in the region. And he is desperately rallying his clan as aired by Universal TV and the tendentious VOA to join his war, one that is based on an ill-designed strategy and that is perfectly aligned with the Uganda incident in which 74 innocents were indiscriminately murdered by al-Shabaab. Hadn't Atam and his clan militia faught to reverse the mineral and oil rights given to Range Resources, Ltd. Farole would have probably lived in Australia this time. The leader of the same uprising Farole used as a tool to attack Ade Muse's Government is now his #1 public enemy. Why now? The Pirate card seems to have failed as he himself was implicated in that criminal enterprise. Now it appears the terror card is raised for the same ends. If I were him, I would first call for a reconciliation between the indigenous clans in Bosaso region and give them a stake as far as the allocation of resources and administration of the region is concerned. An important region like Bosasso needs not an aggreived sub-clans but an inclusive and transperant Admin. Oodweyne, it's hard for you to fathom PL's internal politics. I'll advise that you view things from a neutral perspective. It's not like my enemy's enemy is my friend.
