  1. If Maakhir's Puntland representives parrot the belligerent words of their master, they risk being seen as potential "puppets" by the communities. Puntland leaders (from Badhan(Ilka-Jir) and Dhahar (Donyale) have contributed nothing to the wellbeing of Maakhir regions other than reinforce the structural disadvantage of the community as far as the electoral seats of PL is concerned. They are the hidden figurehead leaders of the two main sub-clans of the community, a long myth of the Makhirs' composition and their territorial distribution. I expect from them nothing much as far as overcoming the demands of their boss to toe his line. They should have better resigned than parroting Farole. What also surprised me is how Somalia's premier and other ministers from the TFG came to the defense of the mendacious attacks of Faroole towards the people of Galgala. All in all, both Ilka-jir and Donyale do not have a moral position or authority over Maakhir's elders as well as Makhir representatives at the federal level. Asha A. Abdalle, a TFG parliamentarian from the region castigated Farole's admin and his policies.
  2. Brilliant story as always by Ngonge.
  3. Reuters, AFP and the likes have all dented the journalistic ethics of balanced news coverage they project to the world. It's like they have re-manufactured the fabrications of the warlord-cum Pirate chief, Mr. Farole before today's VOA interview with Atam himself. I'm sure GaroweOnline editors are in a rush mode to cover up the initial cargo of fabricated items they supplied to the world, taking full advantage of the global fear against the extremists agenda. Islam has now become a "psychological taboo" as Mr. Paragon has put it. The fact will however represent itself in a good day light before the public. Now the latest news I have is that Gen. Ilka-jir is in the midst of brokering a ceasefire btw Atam and Farole. He has demanded an immediate investigation as to the cause of the death of Du'ale in his jail cell, a violation of the Geneva Convention against Torture.
  4. Farole is in deep trouble for his inherent *********. What you expect of a man who has appealed to the animalistic instincts of his sub-clan family against another sub-clan family?
  5. KUALA LUMPUR JOURNAL A Reality Show Where Islam Is the Biggest Star ...The competition is called "Imam Muda," or "Young Leader" - a Malaysian venture into religious-themed reality TV. The basic premise may replicate that of reality shows like "American Idol" around the globe, but here, inside an auditorium at one of Kuala Lumpur's largest mosques, are notable variations on the tried-and-true formula. The prize pool, too, offers a clear indication of the detour the show takes from the usual reality show script. Cash and a new car are up for grabs, but the winner will also be offered a job as an imam, or religious leader, a scholarship to study in Saudi Arabia and an all-expenses-paid pilgrimage to Mecca, Islam's holiest city. 6. Atom: Annagu Shabaab Kama Tirsanin Hogaamiyaha Maleeshiyada Galgala Sheekh Atom wuxuu sheegay inaysan wax xiriir ah la lahayn kooxda al-Shabaab. 29 July 2010 Hogaamiyaha maleeshiyada lagu xiriiriyo inay u janjeerto al-Shabaab ayaa sheegay inaysan ka tirsanayn kooxda al-Shabaab. 7. Xudeedi, brother, I think it's time to look at the bigger picture, and I agree with Jacphar, PL is bigger than personalities. Farole and Atam are temporary individuals.
  8. Originally posted by NGONGE The replies here were more detailed and seemed to point to a genuine and personal disagreement with the Puntland admin rather than an all out Jihad to liberate Jerusalem. Well said... Still this problem needs to be dealt with by the Elders and the heavyweights of Puntland like Gen. Abdullahi Ahmed Ilka-Jir. I agree with our brother Paragon that at this time and age, we do not need to show support to an Islamically inspired movement despite the nature of the conflict being different from that of al-Shabaab. .
  9. Mo Farah, the new Abdi Bile Abdi. The only difference is he represents his new adopted country.
  10. I read this book the second time..496 pages. I'm really impressed by the depth and intensity of this new book "Governance, by Ismail A. Ismail". It reconstructs the missing strands of Somalia's history and its varrying political edifices. A dissection of important historic events is shown in a manner that can hardly be explained by those with limited grasp and view of our history, culture and politics. It also traces Somalia's present societal ills (at most) to the colonial designs of Italy and its fascist policies, which had even lingered in full effect after its defeat in WWII. The author also argues that good governance (as the author is an expert in the field), requires a combination of indigenous and modern solution based on finding a compatibality between traditional and and modern structures of governance. Simply Brilliant and much overdue! I couldn't put it down. He makes this moving statement in the preface, "I saw a void inadvertently created by educated and experienced Somalis of my age, and I thought that my generation owed to posterity to write what they know honestly, without distortion of the facts and without favor or malice towards anyone. "I believe young Somalis who have lost touch with the past of their country--and have a distorted view of it--should know what went wrong, what led their state to fail, and what destroyed their country. Connectivity between generations is very important, for, without it, continuity would be lost" Ismail.
  11. ^xiin and Paragon, VOA has interviewed Mr. Atam. It invalidates the whole Paltalk speech. Listen to it.

I wouldn't mind peace but the people chose to fight and we should support them in that. There's a huge support for Sheikh Ibraahim Dheere's approach to seeking a comprehensive political solution through a non-violent means and it is having already a lot of positive impact. It's undeniable.
  13. ^Awdalites have given their full support to "Somaliland" project, yet Mr. Silanyo gave an important ministerial portfolio to a community whose majority belong to the Somalia's union army. Hence the early anger at his admin will keep on dragging..
  14. Siilaanyo disapointed all, Durriyada-style ... He behaved on that political podium like a glutton on supple, tender dheeylo meat. What a shame! Lol.
  15. Cawke, you shouldn't have posted it. Such media tactics which started during Ethiopia's occupation is way too out of the ordinary. It's designed to incite and anger the public.
  16. Ugu danbeyntii gudoomiyaha gobolka Sanaag ayaa ugu baaqay dadweynaha ku dhaqan Puntland in ay ka feejignadaan dhacdooyinka ka soconaya Koonfurta Soomaaliya Great News!
  17. Oodweyne, maxaad isu yeelyeeleysaa , you know Abtigiis iyo qoladu uu taageero iney hadda xabada sida loo rido barteen. Waa nimankii yiri hogaankooda dagaal yiri, Hari waayaye haqluhu, ma wadkeyguu wadaa. Haqluhu waa gaari jiib ah. Bless Siyad Barre for his much help to that community/Land of Abtigiis by association. . Paragon and Haatu, you can go back and reread my posts. I'have never supported the local warlord and his movement, but what I have only dissected were the policies of Farole's admin and the pathologies of PIS that spawned this movement. I was speaking for a specific community that reside in that area and to avoid trading silly accusations that can have global security implications. The Maakhiris are too expansive in territory and too powerful in unity to be involved in that Galgala conflict.
  18. Originally posted by Nassir: One key point of resistance we must overcome is the chain of division within our aritificial borders....a psychological chain that has kept us locked in the dark. It is this societal ill that accelerate the decline of our brain cells, makes the experienced sound novice and gives the ignorant unearned chance to lead a country in ruin, a divided society yearning for solidarity and viable institutions (cultural, economic, education, medicine, polity, etc.) Every Somali should feel free to reside anywhere in SOMALIA and be involved in any developments or participate in any local issues that matter to his or her residence. But when a Somali from the south feels alienated and unwanted in another region and when a northern Somali speaks as though he or she shares nothing in common with their people, our existance as a nation is so in deep trouble. We have institutionalized discrimination and segregation..... Federalism perpetuates our social division. It is not a system designed for a homogeneous nation unless we adopt the American system of governance in which the power to coin money, make treaties and create an army is vested with the federal government whereas the power to create law enforcement, provide for education, zoning adminstration and issuance of driver's and business licenses is vested with the state. Still, where to draw borders will be a thorn issue to deal with as tribal lands overlap and conflict. The Security Council of the United Nations should continue to support the territorial integrity of Somalia and a strong central or federal government. Our constitution must guarantee every Somali citizen equal rights as to whereever he or she wishes to run for an office, buy home or businesses. I know for sure all of these tribal regions that agitate for secession or self-autonomy will be back to the practical reality that the world wants to see: one nation under one flag, not a government within government. 19. ^al-shabab has already denied involvement in this local conflict. I am not surprised by this huge public protest against Farole's label of the region as a terrorist haven. It will sure have disastrous ramifications on his overall leadership and those who work with him.
