  3. Maadeey, I don't have access to an academic search engine, but I'll give you a little quote and the ref. "The youths left behind in a decaying former colonial capital were not shooting at each other, or even really at those buildings. They were shooting at you and me. They were striking out at a Western world they cannot see, or reach, for leaving them to their fate" Jim Hoagland. "Shooting at Us." The Washington Post, February 13, 1992.
  4. But he says he does not begrudge the Italian colonizers. “Actually,” he said, sitting on a thin reed mat in a house made from flattened oil drums, “those were the best days we had. At that time, there was some law and order.” Sounds more like a WashingtonPost article dated 91, whose author wrote along these lines about internal wars in Mogadisho, "They are not shooting at each other, but they are shooting at Italian colonial architecture. They are shooting at western civilization.' Gettleman uses colorful verbiage to exaggerate. I read once a very unconvincing story about an elderly nomad he and his guards picked up on their way to Kismayo. The elderly man according to this story had never seen in his life a pure, clean water. All he has been drinking was contaminated, impure and colored water except for the rain season. Before it, he mentioned feats of him daring into inaccessible and dangerous places of Somalia, even boasting of killing a crocodile etc. These types of reports in which the natives are depicted as savages and the foreignor puts on a casting role of bravery, civilized and smart ring back to the days of pre-colonialism. Read the colonial spies Richard Burton and Speke' stories!
  5. Thanksful: the report that you are reffering to was conducted by the U.N Monitoring Group, an organization directed by Matt Bryden (a corrupt individual with ties to Somalia). This is a report from the secretary. Well said Xudeedi. Thankfuk, you seem to have amnesia of what I've been telling you and the folks in here. The latest reports from AP, UN Secretariat, and so on disprove the puppet regime's earlier allegations. You are sticking to an outdated reports, all of which preceded the Galgala conflict.(Do ur homework and just compare the dates) I'll be back IA should time permit.

  8. Wow..'Somaliland' way duushey saxib. Che, Lovely beaches, beautiful girls.
  9. It's too much to expect of "Somaliland" for what Ethiopia, the most powerful country in the Horn hasn't been able to accomplish: guarantee the security of oil firms in the ****** basin. Yet and yet the report disproves Puntland's claim that deliberately avoided to designate Atam's forces as "clan militia". My stance that Atam's militia is made up ofclan forces is now clear and valid claim as you can see it in the report. The details of why they have mobilized in defense of their territory is not necessary. On the other hand, the report still employes the phrasal verb Believe to be that quite means something that is thought to exist but subject to complete verification. And PL has yet to produce one shred of evidence concerning its spurious charges.

It aint different from GaroweOnline and AllPuntland. Mouthpieces of Puppet administrations. Both Iley and Faroole report to their lord, Meles.
  11. Abtigiis, bah-idoorka markaad tiri, waxaan u qaatey kuweena Xiingalool dega. Sheikh Atam iyo Golis Mountain-kiisa could be the "contagion effect" though a big political boost for the ONLF, methinks. At least there's link since the Monitoring Group had long accused him of supplying arms and munitions to the ONLF. And thus Ethiopia soon jumped on the puppet admin of Puntland to do something immediately.. I even posted that 2008 report
  12. Lol@Nabadiidka nolosha lagu soo qabtey. Soomalida maxaa naxariista ka qaadey? No wonder we're in this big mess.

  14. The full report is available via WardheerNews, but here is a snapshot of it that caught my eye. Covers conflicts of tribal and resource nature in "Puntland", "Somaliland" and the rest of SOMALIA 13.Beyond Mogadishu, sporadic clashes between Al-Shabaab and ASWJ continued in the central regions, albeit with no significant changes in control of territory. Al-Shabaab continued to control the town of Kismaayo and its seaport, while its positions in the Juba Valley and along the Kenyan border continued to be attacked sporadically by local clan militia associated with the Transitional Federal Government and by the rival Ras Kamboni group. 14. Meanwhile, Hizbul Islam was severely weakened following the severance of ties in May with the Ras Kamboni group. This has undermined Hizbul Islam’s efforts to gain positions from Al-Shabaab in various regions in southern central Somalia. During the reporting period, it was alleged that Al-Shabaab and Hizbul Islam militia were responsible for several security incidents in border towns inside Kenya. 15. The security situation in “Puntland” has generally become more volatile for several reasons, including inter-clan disputes and continuing targeted assassinations of government officials. Further exacerbating the situation was the increased activity of a clan militia located in the foothills of the Golis mountain range, believed to have close connections to Al-Shabaab. On 23 July, that militia attacked five villages and a military checkpoint along the main road between Boosaaso and Garoowe, which triggered fierce clashes with “Puntland” forces. 16. The situation in “Somaliland” has remained stable during the reporting period, with the exception of a few security incidents related to the “presidential” elections held in June. However, isolated clashes were reported in the disputed Sool and Sanaag regions, in particular the Buuhoodle border area between a group known as the Sool, Sanaag and Cayn militia and “Somaliland” troops. 17. Continuing insecurity has hampered United Nations operations in Somalia by limiting freedom of movement for United Nations staff and contractors. In July, Al-Shabaab seized the compound of the World Food Programme (WFP) and the houses of six national staff in Wajid and attempted to loot non-food items from the WFP compound in Buaale. United Nations security missions continued in the central regions to assess the security conditions and obtain assurances from local authorities for an expansion of United Nations operations from Gaalkacyo to Dhuusamarreeb and to the coastal town of Hobyo....... 34. Monitoring networks recorded some 138 incidents of rape, attempted rape/ sexual assault, forced prostitution and domestic violence for the period from May to July 2010. Assessments revealed a high prevalence of sexual violence in settlements of internally displaced persons, mainly in “Somaliland”, where victims were generally of minority clan origin and bereft of clan protection. It should be noted that gender-based violence remains grossly under-reported, particularly in southern and central Somalia. 35. Human trafficking both inside and outside Somalia remains a serious concern. In May, a report by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) highlighted the widespread nature of trafficking and the vulnerabilities of internally displaced persons and economic migrants, particularly women and children.
  15. Cawke aka Timur is back. And he knows about the local reports with graphic evidence when his avatar's recruited ragtag militia of tribal encampments burned big farms in Galgala after a long policy of imposed economic sanction on the export and import of the western Bari region. Now Timur's character has all of sudden converted into an "outspoken" critic of the Relief agencies and the critical services they provide for the war-displaced Somalis out of "National" concern for the pathological economic dependence of the population, not knowing the fact these relief organizations either from U.N. or from the local ones like the Horn Relief are there, for all intent and purpose, to temporarily ease the pain of the vulnerable sections of our society or to provide consistent life-saving assistance for those whose livelihoods have been destroyed by unpredictable but recurrent armed conflicts btw al-Shabab and local clans or the former and Ras Kamboni and Hizbul Islam. Most of the managerial and field staff and operational personnel for the relief agencies are made up of the local Somalis in every region. The "foreign" charge is as balatantly false as the presence of al-shabab in Galgala district of which the so called admin of PL has yet to produce any verifiable evidence of its widely discredited claims ever since. Originally posted by Timur: I can't believe people think that the stone age villagers of Badhan, Dahar, and Las Qoray could muster the funds to pull this off, lol. This money is coming from businessmen in Galkacyo, Garowe, and Bosaso (not counting recent Maakhiri migrants). [/QB] ^the migrants were deported to the Galmudug administered side of Galka'ayo.

  17. Duke and Thankful, you know neither I nor the Diaspora are in support of Atam, but any concerned Somali should speak out against injustice. I just have to point out the huge cost PL's miscaculation of the Galgala conflict entails since it chose a military solution over the peace overture of the 21 prominent Chiefs of PL. I've said it many times that I'm not in support of the man nor do I espouse of his political or religous drive to set up a new rule system in the region just because PL neglected it and imposed economic sanction. I've been critical of how the war monger Mr. Farole and his yes men rushed to wage this war out of secret oil and mineral deals and greed, not to mention Ethiopia's direct involvement in getting rid of the arms dealer and his alleged link to ONLF movement-- first reported in early '08 by the UN Monitoring Group. So the Galgala conflict still drags on with no victor in sight. We hear sporadic battles every day or every other day.
  18. Waa dhaqan soo jireen ah in lagu dagaalamo banaankaas cad. Aint like Xamar.
  19. Dhaqanka tolka ayaa ah inaana lagu dagaalamin magaalada. Beri aan Kismaayo joogey in late 91, ciidamada way isaga bixi jireen magaalada. It's called a tactical retreat. Atam did the same thing and vacated the town since he didn't want his people to be collaterized and smothered by Ethiopian puppets.
