  1. NAIROBI: Makhir/Sanaag community condemn the Galgala war the hidden policy of ethnic cleansing (pics) At Nomad Palace Hotel in Nairobi, the Maakhir community charged the Puntland administration for inciting tribal warfare while employing political agents from the region to suppress the truth amid a complex process of scouting the oil and mineral frontiers in Sanaag and Western Bari regions Among the participants were former technorats, lawyers and physicians who all shared their stories and reflections on how the dismal security situation in Puntland and Maakhir regions have come to such a pass where daily killings and assasinations have become the rite of passage, esp for the Maakhir community. One of the organizers of this event, Abdikhadir Khalif Abdinur, pointed to the central challeges the grassroots initiatives of Maakhir poses and the core dilemmas that have frustrated initial efforts of the state that should have braught the enduring changes and the vision it once espoused. The various speeches of lore presented by the esteemed participants, Sa'id Ali Salad came out the most vociferous and he lashed out at the current administration of Faroole for instigating this calamity under the pretext of the War on Terror just to grab some funds from the International community and subsequently GUARANTEE the return of oil firms like Range Resources, Ltd and Canmex to Majihan and Galgala environs. (Please read, Puntland's Oil Deal @ WardheerNews). The conflict has now reached its fulcrum stage, hunting members of Maakhir Business community and Maakhir officials of the highest echelons of Bosaaso's local governance on a broad daylight just because they are suspected of "aiding and abetting" the opposition. The world as we see today literally shifts as individiual representives are the quickest to be banished from Society for the crimes against humanity they launched on the very people who had placed their public trust and aspirations for a better future. The Maakhir community inside and outside Somalia is now well organized, very active and they have far greater latitude to shape their sense of identity and of purpose and vision. The onus is on the ruthless, blood sucking colonels and generals who have sold their people to the wolves for mere nickel and dime so as to to preserve the status quo of injustice and territorial aggrandizement that the state of Puntland stands for. See the pictures.
  2. Exactly Zack. Seriously, both of the break-away entities seem to be comparing notes when it comes to the freedom of the press and the unresolved issues of "SSC" and Galgala. The so called Information minister's order to close down Universal TV for covering up the Oog clashes, without deviating from its standard procedure is just tip of the iceberge.
  3. Mida kale, war nimanyahoo wixii danta ummada ku jirta lagama leexdo. should my uncle is heading on the wrong direction, I'll be the first to criticize his actions/policies. We all MUST be guided by universal or our religious morality. In other words, truth, justice, rule of the law and integrity should be your guiding principles, not loyalty to clan and its properties.
  4. JB, listen to VOA today. The so called minister said it on air that his department tried to get hold of the Universal staff or its director and his calls were not returned, thus he took the necessary steps for "contempt of authority".. Zack is right and the KismaayoNews is verifiable through the VOA site. Mise waan idin tusaa lol
  5. The mysterious appearance of strange aliases has begun. Burn Notice aka the self-styled Australian and investor of the Range Resources, Ltd. with 48 posts. Ahmed Taha with 2 posts. Pls introduce yourself to the Nomads and Sr. Nomads b4 you commit to negative energy by bashing others.
  6. ^Add "Somaliland" into possible variations of headlines. Seriously, both of the break-away entities seem to be comparing notes when it comes to the unresolved issues of "SSC" and Galgala. Now the so called Information minister has ordered the closure of Universal TV for covering up the Oog clashes, without deviating from its standard procedure. To get both sides of the story, VOA/Somali interviewed the director of Universal TV and the minister. The latter stammered and lost his composure while answering several questions on the basics of the freedom of the press.
  7. Thanks Xudeedi for the Update and Analysis of our Northern conflict-prone regions. It's sad state of affairs borne by our incompetent and short-sighted leaders driven mainly by skulduggery and greed.
  8. Reer-Somalilander, is it because you have this self-deficiency that you think you can derive some glee from "trying to tell another group" with definate territory and history--unrelated to your clan and unsubscribed to you political ideaology-- what to do so as to compensate this deficiency (either moral and material). Can't you see the anger that such silly behavior of yours engenders by posting some sort of News of progress made by or associated with your secessionist entity and its policy of coercion. Can't you again comprehend the multi-pronged, subliminal message this sort of "anaa kuu taliya" or anaa hor'umar ku gaarsiin kara sends? What if you had your Territories under occupation, not by a nationally elected government, but by a clan-inspired, supremacist entity that is forcefully seeking to dismember a country in conflict?
  9. Abwaan, he did run a whole Department with its own Budget and Staff for 4+ years. Besides he has a Business degree from one of the best colleges as I was told. He is also very popular among the masses as trustyworthy individual and former national basketball star. He is more than qualified than the retired Omar who had been unknown until Shariif and his secretive advisors surprised everyone with that selection. So if we are looking for a populist leader with a good track record, you have SA'ID Korshel, not that he is relying or capitalizing on his father's legacy. But he has done it himself and he is very confident to run the Premier better than as did by Nur Adde or the mercurial Shariif Sikiin 4 the Speaker.
  10. Liibaan, how about Jengeli of SSC. He did something Shariif couldn't even do: having official meeting with President Obama, besides his great credentials. U.S. President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama With World Leaders at the Metropolitan Museum in New York
  11. ^Gabadha Warsan ee ka mid ah xubnaha ururka waa qof qatara. She advocated for peace and reconciliation as a solution to our internal conflicÞ.
  12. Khadar, yeah but he first lived in Canada as many other Somalis who now reside in the twin cities.
  13. This is how human life is valued.. A delegation of ministers attended a communal meeting after 4 people had been killed and some properties burned.. We need to emulate their good examples.. Kenya: Garissa leaders agree to peace deal October 06, 2010 Community leaders in Garissa have unanimously endorsed a raft of resolutions to end the violence that has claimed the lives of four people and left more than than 20 houses torched. Among the resolutions is a freeze on the movement of people from 6 p.m to 6 a.m. and intensified police patrols and restriction of movement in clash prone settlements with North Eastern PC James ole Serian saying the government will deploy General Service Unit(GSU) and the Rapid Deployment Unit(RDU) if need be..... Present during the meeting were Defense Minister Yussuf Hajji, Livestock Assistant minister Aden Dualle and Nominated MP Sofia Abdi Noor and religious leaders who all condemned the government for laxity as people were killed and property destroyed.
  14. NinaNC, I dedicate this song to the young soldiers.
  15. Zack, The former president of Kenya Daniel arap Moi was reported to have said, "We do not want to see peaceful Somalia". Also check the recent AlJazeera report on the mistreatment of Somali refugees like security crackdowns, deportation into the border, police brutality. There's BBC News article about a time when Moi ordered the UNHCR to relocate Somali refugees to the border area and inside Somalia. It took a repeated international pressure for him to back down from that human rights voilations. He cited national security concerns as the main reason why he wanted Somali refugees to be relocated to the border and inside Somalia.

  17. ^don't we have Shariif for that description? I think Shariif needs someone with a great deal of knowledge and experience in international diplomacy and in governance, and that ideal candidate must build a lean and efficient cabinet. He must also embark on political reconciliation with the opposition (moderates) and start backing up regional states through the implementation of the new constitution.
  18. ^Rumor has it both Ethiopia and Kenya look forward to the selection of a leader who won't venture into the SomaliWayn politics. They are satisfied with the current map of the Somali Republic best captured by the TFG's Charter.
