So much has been uttered about the future of Somaliland's pursuit for recognition. One thing is clear to everyone who has had first contact with the bulk of propaganda that the unreliable sources of media daily ooze to reaffirm and reinforce their ideologies. 14 years have passed and yet we haven't heard of suggestions or hint of approval for recognition except few missionaries who went to Hargeisa and returned with the injection of biased treatment to the susceptibility of their eyes to questionable, objectionable persuasive of oppression. The administration in Hargeisa only works in two cities, thus lacking the power to exert control and rule on most parts of former British protectorate. Ask yourself, why the Somali currency still works in Burco and vicinities, why the locals of Burco use the port of Boosaso knowing their allegiance to their future self-determination is shattered. As a citizen, there are duties that you should be obliged to observe and provide for its demands. There is total mental collapse in place that have driven most people into hysteria of wanting recognition when there is clear evidence that oppression and corruption is breeding in an unprecedented level right now.

I admire this phase of Somali history when the Siyad Barre regime was in its nascent state. This opposition to the regime was a milestone for the ensuing rest of Somali history ------------------------------------------------- Somalia Challenges to the Regime The SRC announced on two occasions that it had discovered plotters in the act of initiating coup attempts. Both instances involved SRC members. In April 1970, Qoorsheel, the first vice president, was arrested and charged with treason. Qoorsheel represented the more conservative police and army elements and thus opposed the socialist orientation of the majority of SRC members. He was convicted of treason in a trial before the National Security Court and sentenced to a prison term. In May 1971, the second vice president, Major General Mahammad Ainanche, and a fellow SRC member, Soviet-trained Lieutenant Colonel Salah Gaveire Kedie, who had served as head of the Ministry of Defense and later as secretary of state for communications, were arrested along with several other army officers for plotting Siad Barre's assassination. The conspirators, who had sought the support of clans that had lost influence in the 1969 overthrow of the democratic regime, appeared to have been motivated by personal rivalries rather than by ideology. Accused of conspiring to assassinate the president, the two key figures in the plot and another army officer were executed after a lengthy trial. By 1974 the SRC felt sufficiently secure to release Qoorsheel and most of the leaders of the democratic regime who had been detained since the 1969 coup. Igaal and four other former ministers were excepted from the amnesty, however, and were sentenced to long prison terms. Igaal received thirty years for embezzlement and conspiracy against the state.

The question is how will the president go back to Mogadisho and be safe in his office. I doubt the president will have the courage to do that unless he receives support from clans in Mogadisho.

Mogadisho was a graet city and the people that built Mogadisho left it long time ago. However, the amazing thing about this city and its people is that it never loses hope to be rebuilt and revived. But there is no present indication about people pouring into city as it was once in the early 1990s, esp people from countryside. It has taken reverse trend and many people find another route to seek better life by abandoning what once was a great city.

I think the link you provided is helpful and can answer all of your questions. As already said whoever wins the popular vote in each states win all the electoral vote from every state because the most populated states such as California and New York are both Democrats, so to prevent injustice and underrepresentation from smaller states with less population, electoral votes is there for them and can have an effect on the overall result of the election. For example, Kerry didn't go to Texas and New Mexico the same for Bush. He didn't canvass California and New York. These are pure Republican and Democrat states respectively. Therefore, whoever wins the battle states wins the presidency most of the time. The battle states are MN, Michigan, Florida, Georgia, and so on, mostly midwest and south.

I can say one thing -- if I were able to get hold of an original printed source it would be easier to improve the font, because an original document would be superior to the photocopy which I have at present.
