Great analysis by Baashi. "It also means material support and even military support to TFG. Not to mention financial support it will receive to bid the wish of Ethiopian and Americans to rid off the region of any perceived Islamic influence on the Somali politics. I put the blame on UIC's door for they didn't see eye to eye to what Egypt was trying to do which was preventing an international consensus to form and throw its support behind the TFG. The other dangerous thing is the clan perception in all of this political maneuvering performed by both sides. The majority of the UIC foot soldiers are from one single tribe. If and when regional and international forces gang up on this group with the help of “Puntlanders” and other coalition tribes, it will evoke clannish emotions that might translate to a full blown tribal wars which now linger just below the surface." I hope not, tribal war is far-fetched as Somalia has moved from that stage of clan war into an ideaological war, of course composition of clans is a factor but insignificant since the clan equation dwindles both nationwide and international support. The agenda of PKO will only strengthen the government so that both groups can be forced into a compromise. One group, particularly the Islamist has been reluctant on key issues because of its perception of strength and influence over a large portion of Somalia. Upon the liberation of Lower Shabelle and Middle Juba with the support of the locals can we then bring both groups into the table of discussion. It will take the political empowerment of the local clans of the occupied regions to slacken the negotiating position of the Islamic courts.

Was Kismayo captured by SICU solely for Alqaeda's use

Somali-friend, the problem with some poorly educated nomads in this battlefield is that they attack the messenger , not the message? Because of this, I suggest that you take their emotional diatribes leniently. -
We know who invited the war? An old post but deserves a reminder.

No country or a coalition of African countries would take sides in Somalia other than restoring peace and strenghtening the power of the government since its state authority does not extend to areas under the control of the Islamist. I will agree with John Bolton for saying that we won't let the situation in Somalia deteriorate . Somalia is not like Iraq, rather Somalia is a small country with very minor population whom over the years have endured the occupation of one clan over another clan's territory, taxing the subjects in the process to enrich themselves or keep milking the cow. We have to free captive societies in all the regions under the Islamist control. The time of rule where one will decide the fate and destiny of others have come to an end. It is God's work, a work whose wind justly blows against imported warlords such as Indhacade and his cahorts.

I'm sorry I didn't heed to this thread. It is now certain that Ethiopia is bound for war but the question that rings in our minds is will the military undertaking of Ethiopia plausible enough to achieve its ends? Time will tell -

There is no doubt that Somalis in Ethiopia are divided on this issue, one side with Ethiopian government and another with their brethrens in Somalia.

Another splendid sceneries of Al-Madow Thanks brother.

loyal servant? So how many dictators protect their loyal servant? Kibaki leads a civilian government. We know he was elected by the people of Kenya. You label all of them dictators if it suits that this so called [indentured servant] from Puntland will be protected from ICU's possible invasion of Baidabo.

Messy, Am I biased then? I can refer you to a Somali historian whose writings scholars both Somali and non-Somali cite and respect. I.M Lewis. Sanaag is the birth place and even had engaged trade with Arabia since you should know horses came to us from there. And Las Qorey was once the center where England and Italy used to buy horses from. There is no gainsaying about that. Nugal and others had come into contact long after Sanaag maintained this tradition, so through brotherly gesture and trade it was similarly exchanged these beautiful animals to as far as Somali Galbeed

I am happy that finally our brothers in Mogadisho have slackened their grip and firmness.

Ayoub, you right Surad is the highest point of these chains, but Al-Madow has been fortunately safe of the deforestation. Red-Sea, I didn't mean it out of Qabiil. I mean it as a family who chose to settle this beautiful land and to become of its sole care taker through Sultanates before we were taken over by the colonialist Europe

Adeer Sanaag is the birth of Horse racing. Nugal occupies second.

Sharif Ahmed: we want to talk to Ethiopia how things change..
NASSIR replied to General Duke's topic in Politics
The gov. has 14000 well trained troops but it has tried to avoid and still all conflicts instigated by the courts. Ever since it was formed, the government has maintained and saught a pacification or peace treaty of the parties in conflict as its main agenda and domestic policy. I have also come to realize that the people of Cadaado district are supporting the TFG and as Allamagan put it, news that emanates most of the regions the Courts controls by force and occupation are of suppression of local uprisings in the basis of arbitrary arrests, use of excessive force, and killings, total tyranny -
I plan to go there Inshallah. Excellent program

Thanks Somali-Friend for the analysis. You put it clearly and concisely. Duke, even Somali BBC, which previously hypnotized the population for the rise of Jihaad against the infidels, have toned down the topic. I was reading their site and they make Ethiopia's position of war appear as though it was a pursuit of compromise. The colours of the courts are coming to light each day. It is just that our Somali people should be helped in realizing their future by laying bare [their] fictitiousness. -
The thing I don't understand and I will never understand is why is it ok to abuse the N word within African Americans themselves but aberrent when other races like white employ it against African Amricans? Of course, the very act revives the subject of ancestral memories of forced labor and the ownership of human being as property.

Well the choices we face are many and quite ambivalent in our orientations to either conceal what characterizes us as Muslims or manifest proudly who we are, distinctions of our culture and religious practices. After 9/11, the Muslims have become targets for racial profiling as a result of the media hyping, which puts all Muslims in league with the extremists. In light of government misinformation, average Joes in the West and those who are entrusted with responsibility have become victims of misinformation. I was once reading a tabloid called "Readers" which featured a Sikh at its front page. It had so many pictures at the front page from the same person. It first drew my attention to read into these pictures just to see whether they convey any implicit messages. The Sikh was sort of showing how to tie a turban in different styles, which requires careful binding and knotting and finally attaching it with a string. The Sikh was educating the public complete difference of their religion from Islam and their style of turban as a projective identity of uniqueness. However, as he claimed, he didn't want to isolate Muslims for discrimination and that equality was central to their faith, yet he wanted to teach the public their difference to be safe from harm out of what sociologists term the so called "misplaced aggression". I think it's hard to avoid the pressure of the mainstream society in which we live but there are times the push comes to shove only to be prudent in the act of something that violates what our religion enjoins us to live toward our way of life. For instance, your sister tried several times to get a job but to no avail. She met all the requirements and had good record of employment but for some reason, she could not secure a job due to unknown reasons. It happened to one of the Muslim sisters I know. We couldn't figure out what the problem was until one of us suggested that she join the mainstream for this purpose alone. The result was telling. Ngonge, please forgive me I am still out of the picture.

While never being to this place, I am connected to it spiritually. I wish to go there someday. Today, at a restaurant, I tried to share the splendid appearance of this place with diners there and from there I met the son of the old man in those pictures, the man whose ihram towel hangs on his shoulder. It had me raise my eyebrows but I believed him after he swore. One of tha main reason why Al madow remains the same, is the lack of access. Most of the places dont have proper roads. you right and it is to the voluntary work of the people who preserve their environment. However, deforestation took place at the Sool plataeu since the trees down there are good for making charcoal. The effect was widespread and consequential, draughtwise. Since then, local rules had been implemented and enforced by the adminstration there. I read the clauses in LasQorey.
