Egypt has the power to close the Suez Canal and choke the global market of its oxygen intake Or the rich but powerless Arabs can threaten to withdraw from the United Nations. But who is Arab other than subjectively held myth of common ancestry? Can a religion , custom, language be of a uniting factor for the common pursuit of national interest. I doubt that since the social relations of Somalis is a case in point. What unites people for a common purpose is the system of governance they adopt to rule their society and that which encourages and rewards hark work, world class education, check on fatalism and population growth, research and development centers, administering tough and harsh rule against the culture of corruption, nepotism, abolishing or at least incorporating the system of monarchy into a symbolic type of a level as a pride and history of the Nation, etc..... However, Egypt's dismal status and emasculation by the west is largely its own making. The people are oppressed and repressed by its own government. Let's not lose hope.

I listened to an Israeli film maker based in Telaviv and he was saying that the damage inflicted by Hamas for the last 10 years or more does not come close to the magnitude of destruction inflicted by Israel ground, sea and aerial bombardment in the first 3.5 seconds of this Gaza War. Also, I watched on Al-jazeera one of the protesters in London. A British-born veteran, he was outraged by the silence of British and American media saying that 'they were easy to pick and thrash out ROBERT MUGABE. It's a classic double-standing of our governments'. Exactly these words.

Someone fr. Puntland or Kismayo just as Geedi was replaced with Nur Ade until the end of the term. Then call for a new national reconciliation or election if TFG's mandate ends with everything as planned.

Garowe: why it is booming today.... change you can believe in

Maanshallah, I see the people of Puntland are united and strong. Someone should record Sangub's poetic performance and post here. He has been a national figure. -
Well said Malika. Suldan, don't perceive me wrong pal. I have always espoused the concept of a broadened TFG and one that outlives its managers. I was one of the first members here to call for political reconciliation and a constructive dialogue with the Islamic Courts. However I never envisioned that the world would once again fail to live up to its promises and abandon us once again. Since then I have been critical of their double standard in the hope of forcing a comprehensive reform of their policy direction toward Somalia--more economically strategic than it is shown. We are now left with a TFG that is more bleak, weak, divided and a patchwork of islamist inspired movements that are in turn split into idealogical and clannish lines. What should be done to avoid repeating the past mistakes? How will Ade's TFG work without the direct participation of Somaliland, Puntland and Al-Shabab? How to overcome the disillusionment with some quarters in order to remove barriers to peace and make easy the redemption of our state. The current D-jibouti prescription is riddled with loopholes and it can trigger another disastrous conflict.

We are now witnessing a complete reversal of firmly held positions as recent as two weeks ago. Even Hiiraan editorial board named him as the person of the year. All Ethiopia wanted as reflected in her publicly stated policy in the region even prior to the invasion of Somalia with the explicit approval of the TFI was to forestall the emergence of a Somali regime that is hostile to her own forced national interest. How will Sherrif and Ade make any difference or convince the Somali people of constructive ways to redeem their rights to self-determination even in the occupied Ogadden region? Imposing a highly unpopular western backed government that's on its way to give up its control over Bai**** and parts of Mogadishu did not work but the so called international community led by Uncle Sam has shown again signs indicative of underwriting the cost of another years of misery, displacement and bloodshed. And whereas the Security Council has passed a resolution that completely violates the Convention on the Law of the Sea which has given nations bordering ocean an exclusive economic zone , we are still busy siding with the political squables of self-serving politicians. This intractable resolution with regard to the number of nations' naval fleets on the Somali Coast is believed to to stop piracy eventhough it's widely known what has led to the rise of piracy as a revolt by fishermen using tiny boats to wring sustenance against large commercial modern vessels and those transporting toxic waste. It's also widely known that the larger subsidy given to commercial offshore fleets to fish thousands of miles away from their home by their governments, particularly U.S, Canadian and Europe. Sometimes they illegally hire sea mercenaries from improverished Asian states to do the work using trawlers that scrape the bottom clean leading to the entire destruction of marine ecosystem. Saxibayal, they crown and jettison one self-styled leader that toes the line after another while the country sinks deeper in retrogade status. Let's learn from harsh lessons of the past, the cordoned off strip of Gasa, the size of Detriot and which use tunnels to buy food, water and medicine. We haven't reached that terrible stage yet but the idea of a Sea blockade has been put on the table. I don't know who deserves our respect and dignity between the one seeking equity redemption in his economic zone and the crowned puppets rubber-stamping the violation of their country's sovereignty and exploitation of their marine resources? How long can we tolerate or endorse in twisted opinions these repeated violation of our inalienabe rights. Let's support what our people in the country yearn for: a government by the people for the people. -Cell

Me, that's not my new face but I have long realized the source of Somalia's endless conflict. It's fundamental truth to extend a helping hand to a functioning status that could be easily replicated throughout Somalia. Look you will be sending a clear cut message that you reward a good work. But the fact that the virtuous conduct of Somalis outside the Capital aren't rewarded shows that the world does not care whether Somalia does stand on its feet. All eyes are on Mogadishu and its feral neighborhoods.

Emperor has raised some credible questions similar to what ICG echoed in its recent report on Somalia. It has been a wrong-headed policy direction by the International community to allow this part of Somalia that is in the Crisis Stage have legitimacy and jurisdiction over the parts that are officially recognized to be in the Recovery Stage such as Somaliland and Puntland. These two regions which together make up at least 2/3 of Somalia have been severely affected by the south and its endless violence and quagmire. Until the south restores some measurable degree of peace and order, then we can sanction the call for a national reconciliation with fairly conceived plan and formula for power sharing system that treats these three parts as equal partners with the right influence and power to shape the future of Somalia. For years, it has been putting the wheels before the horse or letting the choas part decide for the recovering parts.

Since when Garadag became a district in Sanaag. Sanag's official districts prior to the tribal/civil war are recorded as Five which reflect and stand for the region's population centers. Four of these are/were the territories of Makhirians. Simple and True! -
I came across this article and I quoted the important part. AL Jazeera: Nick Nuttall, a UNEP spokesman, told Al Jazeera that when the barrels were smashed open by the force of the waves, the containers exposed a "frightening activity" that has been going on for more than decade. "Somalia has been used as a dumping ground for hazardous waste starting in the early 1990s, and continuing through the civil war there," he said. "European companies found it to be very cheap to get rid of the waste, costing as little as $2.50 a tonne, where waste disposal costs in Europe are something like $1000 a tonne. "And the waste is many different kinds. There is uranium radioactive waste. There is lead, and heavy metals like cadmium and mercury. There is also industrial waste, and there are hospital wastes, chemical wastes – you name it." Nuttall also said that since the containers came ashore, hundreds of residents have fallen ill, suffering from mouth and abdominal bleeding, skin infections and other ailments. "We [the UNEP] had planned to do a proper, in-depth scientific assessment on the magnitude of the problem. But because of the high levels of insecurity onshore and off the Somali coast, we are unable to carry out an accurate assessment of the extent of the problem," he said. However, Ould-Abdallah claims the practice still continues. "What is most alarming here is that nuclear waste is being dumped. Radioactive uranium waste that is potentially killing Somalis and completely destroying the ocean," he said.

Here is my understanding of the dynamics of a post-Yusuf TFG. One thing you have to acknowledge is that if the power social base which sustained and nourished the movement now decided to overturn the page and rid this convenient group of its excesses, they can simply do it for the following reasons. I also predict that the Al-shabaab insignia stomped in the heart of a far-flung communities who had high hopes of the radicals seizing the opportunity to be the ultimate successor of a post-Yusuf TFG political arrangement will turn out to be a history in a year or two years time. First, the composition of Al-shabaab will be reduced to anyone whose clan is not a majority in the district or regions it dominates. The logistical pipeline through which their financing and weapons come is bound to be clogged. Instead the money and weapons directly flows to Ehlu Sunna. Ehlu Sunna would maintain the advantage of a friendly environment in which Shabaabs will find it hard to self-sustain and recruit members of the large clan. A large defection would also weaken the Shabaabs sooner Ehlu Sunna assumes control of the capital, probably institutionalizing them into a national force. War jiraaba cakaaruu iman. -Cell

Alshabab got beaten in guriceel by ahl suna waljamaca
NASSIR replied to Xaaji Xunjuf's topic in Politics
I came across this article by Ali Fatah @ WardheerNews, "Talk of the town" section, in which he elaborates with concise and consistent evidence the Arab League's intervention in Somalia and other parts of the world. Al-Shabaabs will pursue the Talibanization of Somalia even if Ethiopia withdraws. I believe Somalis will rise above the Qabiil inferno and imbroglio and defeat this group before they plant a firm root throughout Somalia. We are not a friend of extremism. It defies the very nature of our nomadic individualism and egalitarian principle. -

Had Macruuf revisited the sceneries of Calmadow, he would have easily eschewed this peevish comment or reduced this great region to a mediocre level. Sanag has everything it needs to remain self-sufficient or even provide solid support to its largely resilient but resource-starved neighbors if it had the proper management. Saxib, it has a long coast, natural waterfalls and tributaries joining the Red Sea. Its inhabitants practice and maintain three forms of agro-business: large scale farming, fishery, livestock. Besides, the region is a prospective and prime spot for oil and mineral explorations dating back to the era of Barre when multi-national oil giants clamored for government contracts. To you, they are desert villages, but to us they are our ancestral homeland and a thriving new urban centers with sustainable resources backing up their potential growth and development. Koora-Tunshe, it's time that the General warn the secessionists and condemn. Gardarada aan geedka loogu soo gaban. -
BBC is patently correct on the president's disadvantaged position to restore law and order in the capital dominated by a tribe other than his. Duke, what do you think of the currently held assumption by the international community that the only way to stanch the swift spread of Al-Shabaab is to endorse a lopsided representation and the top seat to the main clan that is providing a safe haven to them. Btw, there's another wrong belief that this radical group is dominated by the same clan? I wonder who sold that story to them?

What a dreadful hogwash. You guys should break the record of mass production and distribution of fabrications but to what little effect it would have on the ground? I am not surprised by your repeated use of "eastern Sanag" . The Sanag region, 80 percent of its land mass is the land of a fierce, pro-union Somalis who are hardly moved by an invasion of lies and insult on their sacred land. You are free to entertain the unsuspecting audience but the last thing we advise against is a provocative and deceitful one version of news for the advancement of a narrow, utterly destructive and divisive, conflict prone goal of illegitimate secessionism. Caadaqataha fashilmey ee aad wadataan yuusan idin habaabin.

The phrase "obstacle to peace" is now becoming a mantra. Should Ethiopia and Kenya be part of this definition? Hypocricy at at its highest level!
