Very interesting findings. I love to listen to Dr. Tariq Suweydaan. He knows what's talking about. His lectures are very interesting. In the bottom section, you mentioned the word "salat" appearing 5 time which I think is incorrect. I just did a quick mental check just on Sura Al-Baqra. The first half of Sura Al-Baqra has salat 6 times, not to mention the word Salawaat. I don't know if Sh. Tariq actually found these but it’s always good to verify if possible and that requires time and energy. I agree Mohamed in mentioned in the qur’aan 4 times. There are people who claim things that totally goes against Islam. A couple of months ago, I was at a restaurant and a guy was distributing flyers about a Sheikh in Madena who met with the prophet (in a dream) and said a large number of Muslims will die for disobeying Allah and anyone that does not take this message seriously will upset the prophet and end up dying soon for not delivering this flyer to Muslims. Subxaanalaah, I said to the guy to trash the flyers which got him offended. Sorry, off the topic. We're all proud to be Somalis. Couple of things I like about Somalis but some of you may not. 1. I like their (Xushmad & Xishood) respect and consideration. Have you ever been into a store/restaurant and want to get something real quick and late from work? Somalis will give you a priority as long as you ask respectfully. Some of them might have been standing in line for a while but they let you get the service first. We also do this for non-Somalis especailly Muslims. Have you not heard, "War qofkaan ajnabiga iska hor mariya or is-dhaafiya?" 2. The Somali kids will yell your name out in the public if you ran to them in the shopping malls. Couple of years ago, I was a teacher at dugsi Qur'aan. Every time I am at the mall, I see Somali kids call me by "Macalin hebel" and I end up meeting their parents. Now everyone knows me and my name. Little strange but makes me feel I'm on top of the world because I made a little contribution to their life. 3. I like how we respect our Somali neighbors even if they’re noisy. Some Somali families have problem controlling their teenagers' behavior and it tends to effect all the residents. Some kids hang with the wrong crowds & end up stealing or breaking into cars. Somali will never or rarely complain to them or about them. They will ignore and hope the problem will go away. They do this not to cause problem to their fellow Somalis. They won’t even call the police if they see Somali kids doing drugs in the neighborhood. Others won’t hesitate. I'm afriad the young generation may not value these qualities.

Good article but far from the fact. I happen to be in his age group and lived in the middle of the bullet. I can say it's the first time I see a Somali with such views. This is full of exaggeration. This picture does not represent my generation nor my area of origin. I agree some of it may be true in certain areas of the country but not entirely. I wonder what part of Somalia is he from?

You may find that particular program on their website http://www.theworld.org I don’t think you could find a long archived shows on their website. BOB ciyaal Kismaayo welcome. Don't forget Cabdixaaq. I was born and raised in Biifka area. Kismaayo won the championship more than 16 times I think. I remember the day the beat the Yemen or Cadan National team. The Cadan team beat Somali national team and they lost to local Kismaayo team. It was late eighties I believe. I skipped dugsi that afternoon and got punished the next day. Macalin geesdheere usually wouldn't punish students for playing football (he didn't see any harm in football) but I think missed Subac that day. I heard Tanzania's national soccer team has a kismaayo footballer Max'ed Carab. I heard he plays for Simba team in Dar es Salaam.
