  1. Nope, I have no problem with Qabiil. As a matter fact, I care less about qabiil but I have seen & met with people whose minds are manipulated by the qabiil ideology. May be you’re one of them. It is perfectly OK to be proud of your qabil, I know I am and I am proud of all that is good about it's culture way of life because I am them and they are me and If i am not proud of them I cannot be proud of the larger somali roots that I have!! Similarly you have to be proud of your village in order to be proud of your province, state and finally Nation. Based on your above response, I have a feeling that you look around and distinguish people by their tribe. Consciously or unconsciously, your mind automatically perceives that certain individuals are closer to you then others. It’s possible those you consider closer might be evil or danger to your own existence. Warlords are a good example here. We view them as close to us in qabiil so we praise their actions though it's shameful and yet they’re evil and danger to our existence and that of our country. While you refer to some individuals as SHISHEEYE (outsider) you’re unknowingly sending a message that you value and label people by tribe. This perception/classification will eventually lead you to believe your tribe is the most important thing in the world. Just today, I come across a headline on a Somali webiste reading “Whose tribe is Yaasiin Hassan Omar†You see we’re already trying to find out & then possibly blame the London tube bomber suspect on the qabiil he belongs. Islam has permitted us to use Qabiil solely for identification purposes. What we fail to admit is that we Somalis know only one way of using Qabiil. That’s to abuse it and utilize in a way that results violence, death and hatred amongst ourselves. Frankly, I have not seen a Somali that uses qabiil positively. There isn’t such thing in our society. I have yet to see someone whose qabiil paid for his/her school, or someone whose qabiil build him a house. In some occasions, you’ll hear reer hebel wired money to support the orphans of their tribe. What a ridiculous idea. Viking: You said it well. Nomads choose to hear the true with one ear and let it out on the other.
  2. I personally think we Somalis are full of qabiil with an exception of few. I believe some of us took a full pledge to defend their qabiil in right or wrong. No one can deny qabiil is the root cause of the problem in our country. We denounce a negative use of it at the mosques, community centers, peace conferences, and yet we practice it in closed doors just about every where and most of us support it financially, emotionally and physically. Are we blind from the reality or did we choose to? One can not find a solution without first acknowledging the problem. The warlords would not have lasted a day if we (in or abroad) had not supported them. The irony is that no one supports the warlords out of fear or power but for the qabiil. Throughout the forum, you’ll see the qabiil representatives that seem to advocate violence and inferiority among Somalis. Yuck! If I may ask these qabiil reps a question. Do you directly benefit supporting your qabiil? Do you receive anything in return, money, dignity etc. I personally think my qaiil isn't aware of my personal existance. For that I don't see the importance of their existance or support. Why not value people for what they are and what they posses instead of the qabiil they belong to? Why not use your qabiil name as your family name openly if that’s what you value and stand for. If your thoughts are pre-occupied and brainwashed by your qabiil and feel you’re obligated to stand for your qabiil, then why would you be ashamed of taking your reer hebelas as last name. At least this will benefit you the most since your identity is now open. May be you’ll encounter less trouble. I really hate those that you ask your TAARIKO shortly after you meet them. A friend of mine was flying from one city to another and her ride didn’t get there in time so she asked a cab driver to take her home. His first question was to identify her radio station (as in her tribe). I was shocked when she told me. Sadly enough, the guy lives in the same building as I do. I think we need to engage a war on qabiil mentality. This is a disease that’s secretly eating us. How can we overcome such a problem if we ever will.
  3. Yaa Xaawo taako beenbeen looga dilaa! Cimrigaadoo weeynaado geel dhalaayaas ku tusaa. Iyaah! Kuwaan waa yakhaanaan si dad loo khiyaameeyo. Maxaa iga galay meeshaan ka soo farcamay as long as I know janadii aan ka soo qaxnay Ilaaheyna waan ka baryeenaa inaas noo kaalmeeyo wadadeeda.
  4. It's difficult to understand what's going on in their mind and I don't really want to know what caused them to committ such horriable crimes. All I want to know is that they're locked up and not let free to roam in society. I think it's non-cureable disease and mental illness. I don't buy the reasoning that they acted such crimes becuase they were victims of similar abuse in their childhood. This is a bogus argument and not everyone who's abused in childhood acts in such a manner.

  6. You may see more raids on Somali homes/residents, mosques, businesses and the shutdown of Hawalas. War on terror is designed to take away freedom in order to protect freedom. I don't understand it but that's how it works in reality. I was hoping Somalis were not involved or had nothing to do with it but now we see Somali names appearing in the news. Let’s hope these perpetrators captured & brought to justice as they caused more harm to Somali & Muslim communities.
  7. >***** SIGHTING #3 >When my husband and I arrived at a car dealership to pick up our car, we were told the keys had been locked in it. We went to the service department and found a mechanic working feverishly to unlock the driver's side door. As I watched from the passenger side, I instinctively tried the door handle and discovered that it was unlocked. "Hey," I announced to the technician, "it's open!" To which he replied, "I know - I already got that side." I didn't know you're a married sister. May Allah give you wiil & caano. Something was telling me you were DOOB. Then again, I noticed it's a joke. Just kidding.
  8. Did they identify these men as Somalians? They look Somalians and have Somalian names but I still have doubts if they Somalis or just using Somali alias.
  9. Most of you probably forget or lost something that can be replaced. A few months back, a friend of mine (whom I admire and respect more) let me borrow a video tape of his family and a new house they just build back home. I took the tape given that I will return the next day because it was the only copy his brother send to him. I took the tape and watched it and I forget to eject it from the VCR. A few hours later, the VCR recorded a show that I scheduled to record. Oh my lord! Simply, I forget to change the tape with another one or cancel the scheduled recording. The next day I took the tape out and gave it to my friend. The whole family gathered to watch "their dream house" and family members back home but suddenly, there is David Letterman and his ridiculous late night laughs. I was speechless when he called me because I knew exactly what happened to the tape because I could not find the show I planned to record. This was one of the most embarrassing moments of my life if not the most. Since this incident, I now plan to get a DVR or build a custom pvr.
  10. Don't eat after 6 or 7 pm and if you eat make sure its fruit or light snack.....Absolutely no bariis, pasta or hilib aari(goat meat). I think that's one of the biggest myths I have heard. For the last couple of years, I have been working mostly second shift so I don't get to eat until it's late around 9 or 10pm and I have not gained any weight. Actually, I saw a program on ABC News 20/20 uncovering the myths, truth about health and beauty. Here's the link. Eating at Night Myth Disaproved.
  11. In this age of political correctness, one has to be careful specially issues relating to women. Those of you lynching Kheyr, I think are in line with the proverb “Do as I say, not as I do†which does not work in today’s society. I think it’s ridiculous to compare displaying Islamic image and smoking in public with throwing the Qur’an into the toilet. Smoking is simply a choice which can be a result of jahli or naf and sheydaan while the latter is an act of disrespect to Allah, Islam and all Muslims.
  12. Your cousin speaks naturally in American accent while the interviewer is trying so hard to speak British accent. Was he trying to impress your cousin? You can tell he’s Somali pretending to have a British accent. And why are they not conducting the interview in Somali? Isn’t the targeted audience Somali?
  13. Look at the suspicion on his face. I would slap his eyes out walahi. Just because she is covered. She's lucky if she didn't get detained for hours.
  14. They wont ask for a car cuz at least for the first few yr she wont have a license. Your lunch will be diyaar everyday after work. U never have to worry about doing your laundry, and most of all ull never argue about the remote cuz she probably wont know that the heck is on TV lol. What's next?? I assume you have other goals in life than laundry, food & remote control.
  15. LEARNING HOW TO FIND THINGS Starting with looking in the right place instead of turning the house upside down while shouting "It's not there!â€, You’ve moved it!†or “We’ve run out!†– Open forum LOL Perhaps most men would want this portion of the course.
  16. If Ofleh would have posted a qabiil website (reerawbakeyle.com or myqabiil.com) no doubt SOL moderators would delete it. Why are we so sensitive about clan related stuff and when it comes to religion, we're understanding and open-minded. Where do you draw the line?
  17. Obesity among somali women especially child bearers has become an epidemic. Many times it becomes very difficult to live with a person whom perspires too often and cost more to feed than the entire family. Is this a study? Or just your observation/opinion? If so mind to provide the source. Obesity is everyone's concern not only Somali women.
  18. Try this website. You may like it. English/Somali Tarjume
  19. Whoever wrote the story needs to take some Somali language skills. Sheekada meel ay u socoto iyo meel ay ka socoto ma la garan karo. Hakad, iyo joogsi midna ma leh. Why would someone publish something they haven't proof read it?
  20. Funny. No wonder lots of people choose ***kissing than hardwork and attitude. They must have figured it out a long time ago.
  21. Zephyrine: I feel the same. I dont' see any importance. Ayan Ali does not deserve all the attention you’re generating on this page. She’s lost and needs guidance from Allah. She isn’t the first one or the last with such sickening ideology. I don’t think she can cause more damage to Islam than those kufaars before her. Regardless, Allah has promised to protect his deen. Every dog has a day. She’s out there for attention and the Western media outlets are currently seeking anyone with such views. This is a women who was a refugee collecting government checks a decade ago and all of a sudden she’s chosen to be one of the top 100 most Influential people on the planet? Give me a break! What I would like to know is what’s her family saying all about this. Did they disown her? Are they praying for her to come back? I heard her father used to be a well respected Somali politician. Coofleh: Are you not Muslim? I know it’s none of my business but just wondering how your choice for healthier diet downplays the strict abomination for alcohol beverages in Islam?
  22. Ma fadhi ku dirir ayey sheekadii isugu biyo shubatay?
  23. It's sad most of the Somali people are loyal to such men. No Somali will deny how evil these men are and yet they remain faithful to them.
  24. So we can say we originated from Nabi Nuux Caleyhi Salaam even though there's a huge gap from Nuux (cs) to Chus. Ofleh, I believe we do have a future but it may not be bright and we're not certain what that future has in store for us. Bro don't give up your hopes.
