  1. I don’t think Somalia has oil wells that are worth invading. These thugs are after money and fame. I’m surprised no one claimed responsibility and the media gives one side story. Are there any Somali news sites that reported the other side’s story? Did the US navy outrun the pirates or were they afraid of the sonic weapon the ship used? What constitutes International waters? Is there any set of rules in terms of mileage? I understand the ship claims it was 100 miles into the sea and is it possible that a small boat can travel that distance into the ocean? Moqdisho, Kismaayo or Puntland area? I don’t think we got the whole picture.
  2. A father of a Palestinian boy shot dead by Israeli soldiers said Monday he believes his son's spirit is alive in "every Israeli" after donating the boy's organs to Israelis waiting for transplants. Source CNN.com
  3. Libaax, thanks. Some of the faces in the pictures look familiar. There're some programs that can extract images from flash. Once you publish anything online, nothing is protected. I can’t wait to go and swim in that sea of ours.
  4. WOL: Ahsante sana dadayangu I hope I said the right thing. It's been awhile since I left Swahili inchi. WOL is right. A pregnant woman can be divorced according to the Sunnah but remains in her Cidda, idda, the waiting period untill the baby is born. Her husband remains responsible for her nafaqa during this time, which means he may call for rujuuc if they change their mind. It's a common misunderstanding that many believe pregnant women can't be divorced. One can't divorce his wife if she's in her menses and engaging sex relation. He has to wait when she’s pure and not have intercourse. I don’t understand what you mean by Somali mosques in NA. I have yet to witness a mosque issueing a divorce of couple in the mosque. If what you’re asking is how they deal the issue, it depends on the Imam or mosque. Some Imams refuse to do or be part of any divorce unless they meet with both families while some corrupt ones do it in a flash.
  5. A classic political warfare at its best. It’s amazes me how we utilize technology. Honesty I think some of you belong to the list and may be as dangerous as the warlords. If you display support and love for them, then you must harbor the same ideology and hatred they have to one another. So why don’t you come out of the closet and list your names so the rest don’t have to engage a non civil discussion with you. The criticisms of these ruthless warlords have become a touchy subject among Somali politics nowadays. I wonder what it takes to break it. My fellow nomads, remember Muslims (should I say supposed to) forbid evil and enjoin goodness while hypocrites do the vice versa. Which do I belong? I am striving to be the former and may Allah help me. On the Judgment Day, one is with the one he loves. If one loves Abi Jahl, he'll most certainly be with him. Allow saalixiinta na jecleysii.

It’s said if one keeps repeating propaganda over and over long enough, it’s taken/becomes a reality.
  7. Thanks SOOMAAL for sharing. May this be the first Eid Muslims unite in celebration. I hope it's not early to wish everyone EID SACIID.
  9. Thanks for the reply. If you indirectly own the place, I guess you have a say who gains entry.
  10. Originally posted by Naku Penda Piya: What's with those people who take the "Close your gaps. Feet to feet, shoulder to shoulder" Hadith all literally. I'm trying to concentrate in prayer when all of a sudden the lady next to me starts playing footsies with me. Actually, this is one of the most forgotten sunnah of the prophet scw. It’s said that the prophet used to spend a good time to make sure the Sahaba were lined up correctly, filled gaps and lines straighten out. Whenever the Imam tries to take the time and walks in the rows making sure there’s no crooked line, or gaps, most people stare at him as if he’s wasting time and don’t bother correcting the lines. They don’t realize it’s the sunnah and for us to find Khushuuc in the Salad, we must correct everything leading up to the Salat. And remember keeping the rows in straight is part of the Salat. Somalis are doing ok in this area compared to Arabs & Pakistans. Those people don’t stand shoulder to shoulder. Instead, they leave enough space for a child to walk through. I don’t know if they just dislike their feet touching others or out of ignorance.
  11. Originally posted by Yoonis: We will welcome Abdullahi Yusuf anytime back to the presidential palace of Garoowe if he wants too. I already miss his reign in Puntland. Really. You got to be kidding me. What part of it did you miss? Is it the corruption, the conspiracy, the killing and/or bribing of Isisimada of the region? A/Y can go to anywhere in Somalia he wants as he’s a citizen of the country but guilty of crimes against humanity. I hope he never comes back to Puntland as president or a PM. His time if over and he did what he could during his years. We need no more military presidents, but engineer, doctor, and etc presidents, those who care more about the land than their qabiil, ego, and calooshood. By the way, is the presidential palace in Garoowe under your control?
  12. I saw the episode where he receives the news of the death of his grandmother and he gets Trump helicopter ride to Philly I think. Though he missed most part of the group work, he wasn't active participant in that particular episode. Maybe he was going through the loss of a loved one. My favorite part of the show is the boardroom quarrel and the yelling of the boss. I kind of liked the Apprentice 3 Book smart vs. Street smart. A team with no education beyond high school was competing against another team of graduates of the most impressive universities in the country. Their boardroom was more confrontational.
  13. I somehow missed this thread but I never expected a Muslim would say, Inaa Wajadnaa Aabaa'anaa Calaa Umatin wa inaa calaa aa'thaarihim muqtaduun. Zukhruf 23.
  14. I don’t know if they are doing this reform to please the EU and get accepted or for the betterment of their citizens. How far would Turkey go to get accepted? I wonder what would they commit to the people to gain entry?
  15. Originally posted by Alexus : Somaliaonline is place where men are 30 plus and the girls never past 22. 30 plus? Waabad na yareeneysaayee waa sidee. Just kidding. I’m not near those in the list. Though Somalis associate age with wisdom, I feel the same way as Sharmarke. As Sky wrote, Boodheri was obsessed with Hodan, an obsession that caused him his life. Obsession and love are two different things you’ll agree. Not a Romeo & Juliet thing. I think I heard Hodan developed some type of depression in her later years. You can say Boodheri’s obsession caught up to her.
  16. I don't think it divides Arabs more than it divides us had it been one of the warlords. We saw this week one of the warlords detained in Sweden and some of us were literally at each other's throat here in SOL. I saw no Arabs threatening each other for the arrest of Saddam. Unfortunately we're worst than them. Saddam deserves whatever he gets whether death or life in prison. Saddam pulled the trigger and committed those horrible crimes, but didn't manufacture the weaponry. Those provided him with the means to commit such crimes and were cheering for him should be as much guilt as he is. And one does not commit a crime intentionally knowing its magnitude and later repent. Towbah is for those who do sin in a state of ignorance.
  17. Informative article. I would say the perfect or best age for having a baby is in your 20s if you can afford and parent them. Early 20s is also good for men to have kids if they're mature and responsible. By the time you're 30 or 35, your kid may be 10 or 15 and you can do lots of physical activity with your children and you've enough energy to spent more fun time with them. In Somalia, you have a whole village supporting you emotionally, physically and sometimes financially so the expected mother has fewer worries. Qurbaha is different story.
  18. Nice pictures. Thanks for sharing Mohamed. Wuxu ma wan baa mise lax? Ha ila yaabina. Ciyaal balad baan ahaa oo baadiye wuu ii dhiman yahay. Funny picture tho.

  20. It's good news. I hope all those corrupt leaders won’t hijack the project and steal the money. Finally the city is getting something out of this administration. It must be glad that A/Y is out of the picture.
  21. Better late than never. Congrats Aerowen Party-ga miyaa lagu caqday mise waa kaligey?
  22. Curling Waterfall: Xaal qaado ina adeer. You must be kidding. Does marriage require one to be responsible for his/her mate’s happiness? One can choose to remain unhappy for whatever reason they want given they’re pleased in everyway possible. It’s a natural that people are always unhappy. I don’t thing anybody could be held responsible for someone else’s unhappiness. One can be positive and remain happy regardless of the treatment. We have both opinions available to us. Does running away from responsibility show weakness? May be. But I think you’re just entertaining us. Isn’t being responsible of your deen and yourself the biggest responsibility one can assume?
  23. I just voted to view the results. I hope I'm not guilty of spoiling the outcome. I chose Maybe making tahajjud every Tuesday will account for half my deen. I thought this pick would not affect the results. I don't want to upset the author by publishing the result but I'm surprised many indicate they can’t find Mr/Ms right. If you are trying really hard and still can’t find, consider going arrange marriage. It appears that you’ll most likely have less work, pain, anxiety and much rewarding. I can’t believe I am writing this. This will get many of you going. The time we live in teaches us to be open mind, and to consider other ideas, point of views, and/or alternatives. I hope this won’t become a discussion of persons instead of examining and criticizing ideas.
