    Its a Girl!

Four pages of grievence. I wonder if four pages of apology will undo the damage. Soomaalidii hore ayaa ku maahmaahay, “Naagi nimay legdaan kama kacaan.â€
  2. Castro, Ina-adeer, here's an update.

    Death row

I meant surgical removal of the whole organ.

    Death row

How about an amputation for child molesters, rapists, sex offenders and pedophilers. A good method of deterrence?
  5. Originally posted by Wordette: However, on the Somali Oral News Network, supposedly, as most Somali tend to speculate, what sparked his arrest was that some Somalis (who are quite known!) in Seattle reported the Sheikh to the Police, accusing him of having stolen money that the majority of Somalis in Seattle have raised collectively to build a new mosque. They also accused him of using it for personal gains. Originally posted by HornAfrique: the widespread rumour circulating around is the Sheikh was arrested at the behest of our own Somalis! They accused the Sheikh of taking money allocated to build a large mosque in Seattle. The people that have accused the Sheikh have originally donated to the Mosque-building efforts, but have rescinded their support when the immediate building of the mosque didn't materialize. They have now accused the good Sheikh of stealing their money and possibly funneling it overseas. If this is proven to be the case, walaahi we’re at a great loss. What’s wrong with these people? The same thing almost happened in Minneapolis last year. Someone published articles in Somali newspaper alleging Masjid Shafici administrators of stealing money aimed for buying a new masjid in the twin cities. The Imam of the mosque urged the author of the article and whoever has doubts about the money to contact him directly. Alxamdulilaah, few months later, a place was found and bought. On the opening day of the new masjid, the Imam told Somali TV that no one contacted him. It's sad to see the same thing is happening again in our communities.

  8. lol @Castro No, it’s a HAMVEE It is the Weekly Standard, the magazine that drives the pro-Israel neo-conservative movement. The manual that convinced the policy makers and the public to rush to war. I think Muslims should unite and get over the concept of choosing the lesser of two evils. They need to stand behind the candidate that would stand with them, support their most vital program. Just like the Religous Rights and the Pro-Isreals. Each one has it's own agenda, pro/cons and yet they unite under one banner, the one thing they have in common that embraces their core plans and agendas. At the end of the day, these two giants might clash if there's no one to go after.
  9. Too cold for the first day of snow. I could not believe all the ice on the road. Almost lost control of the car. Alla noo maqan. It should be warm this weekend, as they predict.
  10. Thanks Xiin, very informative. The neocons will continue to influence policy and public opinion so long they can get away with it. We saw this week O'Reilly inviting terrorists to strike an American City. Until average Joe reads the likes of Noam Chomsky, their votes will go to those influencing/manipulating their thinking. I sometimes read Counterpunch Newsletter.

There's nothing wrong with a woman's voice. It's what that voice is used for that matters. You’re right. It’s the 900 voice that could turn into fitnah, arouses men to act like animal……..well worst than animal. Don’t you think it's for the ladies to decide though?
  12. This isn't about telling what dreams you have but in my childhood, I once dreamed of becoming a big Sheikh, Muslim scholar. That dream was scrubbed from reality. On a serious note, one can achieve his/her dreams given it is foreseeable and doable. Going back home is simply a journey, not a dream but making difference is really a big dream ought to be fulfilled.
  13. Aamiin. Ilaahey ha ilaaliyo. I too was watching the Sheikh on Somali TV two nights ago. I thought the Sheikh has relocated to the twincities.
  14. Jaylaani: Ha degdegin sxb. Ha ku danbaabin rag aadan garaneyn. These teenagers were dealing with love, as reported. Jealousy is as danger as you can get. As Muhammad mentioned, some set fire on themselves to proof their jealousy and end the torture. You'll need four grown men to proof what you’re alleging. If they are that innocent, I hope they don't undergo more from the police.
  15. Thanks for the reply Yoonis. You have a valid point. It could become fitnah. Falaa takhdacna bil qowli fayadmacal ladii fii qalbihii marad.
  16. Originally posted by Xiinfaniin: Sorry but this is another rubbish, similar to what we have been getting lately. Xiinoow, Could not agree with you more. The authors chooses to mention and idenfity those he’s Alleging to belong to Itixaad by qabiil. Throughout the article, I see these tribal names, Abskul, Reer Abdille, Abgal, Reer Aw Hassan, Mareehan, Ali Saleebaan, Habarje'lo, & Ayr. I wonder why he didn’t name the former government officials and warlords by their qabiil? Is this article written for non-Somalis?
  17. Baashi, that’s such a cool idea. Imagine signing on to SOL, downloading Castro’s take on American democracy, uploading to your iPod or Mp3 Player and listening on your bus, train or car. That’s the art of Podcasting. SOL will soon be the finest Somali podcasting site. No doubt other maryooley sites will follow. It’s may be time consuming though. Record whatever you intend to say, listen to proofread or check the sound quality, save and convert to mp3 format and then upload it. Don’t you think five minutes is too much? Yonis: Is there a reason for banning the ladies? Are you protective of their identity?
  18. I think some of you forgot that Socod_badne is a neocon wannabe nomad who advocates for racial profiling of Muslims and believes Sharia laws are outdated and unsuitable. Knowing this much about him, it does not surprise me at all that he now calls for “Someone oughta put a leash around their necks and keep close eye on them...they're clearly out of their minds.†May this be his dream job? Perhaps. Read here: “Speaker Elmi, who has just defected from a Mogadishu-based faction of the new government to the Jowhar group, told reporters he believed the killing was politically motivated.†“One house attacked by the militia was used during a recent visit by Somali Prime Minister Mohamed Ali Gedi, who belongs to the Jowhar group of the divided transitional government.†Did you skip these two paragraphs? They suggest there’s more to the story than just chick flick Hindi movie. Read the whole thing before you make a judgemental comments.
  19. Jowhar police arrests a man for dressing up like a woman with full hijab gear. The man claims his action were motivated by love or out of jealousy. Is this s-t-u-p-i-d-i-t-y or what? Read the story here on hiiraan.com

    Its a Girl!

Dwelling in previous topics has become an appealing art these days! Isn't this what Somalinimo is all about.
  21. For those nomads that believe everything they see on TV about the Islamic terrorism and extremism, you may want to read a different prospective, one that you don’t expect to see on TV. Robert Pape is a political science professor at the Universtiy of Chicago and an expert of suicide terrorism. He is also the author of Dying to Win. I saw him on CNN AN 360 last night and said some interesting things about the mindset of a suicide bomber. He’s one of the few terrorism experts that seem to know what they’re talking about. Check the links below. Robert Pape on Suicide Bombing: CNN Dying to Win: Random House Publishing
  22. Brother Khayr: Are you suggesting the divorce rate of Muslim communities will drastically reduce by preaching weak hadiths? Don’t be naïve brother. Today’s Muslims don’t have receptive ears for sound hadiths and quranic rulings let alone weak & fabricated ones. One does not need a weak hadiths to shape up the Ummah and solve some of the problems you’ve mentioned. I don’t know if you’re an expert in the area of Culumul Hadith but there’s difference between the seeing/agreeing wisdom of a weak hadith and establishing a ruling based on weak hadiths. Do you know what the hadith scholars said about practicing, and/or preaching/teaching the public about such hadiths? Can one practice Islam based on weak hadiths? I have heard Shariif Cabdinuur xafidahulaah, a well known & respected Somali Shiekh, saying this hadith “Abqadul Halaali Ilaa laahi Adalaaq†is weak hadith. I believe he said, Ilaahey wax caradiisa keena xalaal kama dhigo ama xalaal Alle kama caroodo. I'll check Insha'alaah.

Wiiloow warkaaga wuu wanaagsanaa intii hore balse your last comment tells me something else. I was under the impression you were trying to help find a solution to these problems. I think qabiil plays little or no role in these conflicts. The problems with some of the people who manage the mosques are arrogance and ignorance. It seems these guys were never taught of AKHLAAQ of DAACI and they lack the skills to be the head of mosque/madrassa. Their knowledge of Islam is more than the average person and yet they are at times after power and fame. In almost all the cases, their personal interest comes before that of the community and the mosque. Some of these guys publicly claim to be part of some Muslim ‘group’ sects but you never see a Sheikh making such claims. I have been to Khalid Mosque years ago when it was under construction and sheikh Bashir Shiil remains to be one of my favorite Somali sheikhs. Whatever is going on there, I’m praying that Allah reward their effort and forgive their wrongdoings. At least they’re trying to benefit us and we, the public don’t need to alienate them further into groups but work on the solution. We Somalis like to disagree and cause division in the community. I don’t know why but it seems as if it is in our gene. If two friends disagree, it’ll result in disrespect and fight and then a third person will translate it to some type of qabiil conflict. This happens in almost every place Somalis live. Qabiil is the only card we can play and play it well. It’s the only tool available to us that enables us to win. A while ago, I was invited to partake a project at a mosque and was glad for the invitation. I knew this was not a new project and asked what happened to brother that was running it. I was told that he’s no longer in the administration. That respond gave me a hint something is wrong. I went and spoke with the brother who’s being replaced. He expressed dissatisfaction that few brothers were rooting him out and asked to resign. He said he was good at it and volunteering his time. I confronted the brother who invited me and told him that the other brother is much qualified and more knowledgeable to the project than I am. He tried to persuade me but he didn’t’ succeed. I advised him the interest of the mosque rests what’s good for the project and not few individuals. We exchanged heated words and I declined the offer. To this day, we call each other and pray together at the mosque. Disagreement should not mean division. Though I don't regret my decision, I sometimes feel I should have joined them and later resign in protest but that would not benefit the mosque or the community.
