  1. To defend [or not to] the honor & reputation of Ibn Maryam caleyhi salaam?? Isn't that the whole thing? Would it make any difference if it was Mussa, Ibrahim or Nuux caleyhimu salaam?

    Weapons

Keep the fulay message board going. The only time I consider carrying weapon of some sort is when I bike in certain neighborhoods.
  4. Atheer you seem to be very confused. I’m sure you’re aware Islam strongly discourages revenge. It emphasizes praying for guidance. A true Muslim character would not seek revenge but would choose forgiveness instead. That’s why you saw “Alle ha noo hanuuniyo.†in my last post. If not all, the majority of the replies are certainly not wishing death or about hatred. They’re rather expressing outrage of her behavior. No one is calling a fatwa on her. No one with a clear mind would do that and certainly SOL wouldn’t allow the site be utilized as such. After all, Ayan’s political career in the Netherlands has come to an end, not her life. I don’t know how you concluded this thread to be a hate feeding frenzy one. You may disagree but I think Sangub & Ali Samatar threads were much closer to that description.
  5. Ayan befriended with a tiger and the tiger needs food now. SB, What goes around, comes around. It's your turn now. Be brave and turn in your application.
  6. Castro, sxb kirishtaalahaa maxaa ka khaldan? Does it need a replacement? You referred to a similar discussion as a lynching party the other day? Are you that desperate to reduce/silent the nomads interested in the topic? Whatever the outcome might be, Ayan remains to be Somali girl and won't be the last person to badmouth and call the prophet scw names. I don't really care about the lying part of the documentary but what I don't approve of is supporting & setting a policy that abandons and hurts the needy refugees who have more rights than her. I could be wrong but was she really a refugee or a run away bride [to be]at the expense of her husband [to be]? Was she not on her way to Canada and join him but decided to ditch him? Why betray the guy. Is she getting kicked out because the Dutch felt it’s too expensive to continue supporting her? Didn't she admit lying about her asylum back in 2002? Why now? It appears as if history is repeating itself. She has been used and used but now it’s time to abuse her? Ayan & the rest of gaalo raacyo raxmada Alle wili wey furan tahay. Alle ha noo hanuuniyo.
  7. Here's the article. Dutch lawmaker in asylum row to move to US By Niclas Mika AMSTERDAM (Reuters) - Ayaan Hirsi Ali, a Somali-born Dutch politician known for her outspoken criticism of Islam, plans to leave parliament and move to the United States after admitting she lied to win asylum in the Netherlands. Hirsi Ali, 36, sought asylum in the Netherlands in 1992, claiming to be escaping from an arranged marriage. She gained Dutch citizenship in 1997 and was elected to parliament in 2003. A storm erupted about her asylum application last week after a Dutch television documentary interviewed members of her family about her background. They said she had not been forced into an arranged marriage and had had nothing to fear. Asked whether she had falsified her asylum application, Hirsi Ali told the program she lied about her name, age and how she came to the Netherlands, prompting calls for her to leave parliament. Immigration Minister Rita Verdonk said on Monday that Hirsi Ali's naturalization had likely been invalid. "I have told the person concerned by letter that based on this program and the facts as they are known, the preliminary assumption must be that she is considered not to have obtained Dutch citizenship," Verdonk said in a written reply to questions from a member of parliament. The lawmaker will have six weeks to respond to the letter from Verdonk, who is vying to be the lead candidate in the 2007 general election of the VVD liberals, also the party of Hirsi Ali. Dutch public broadcaster NOS said doubt over her citizenship could complicate Hirsi Ali's plans to move to the United States. Hirsi Ali came to international prominence in 2004 when an Islamic militant killed filmmaker Theo van Gogh after he directed a film she wrote accusing Islam of suppressing women. Hirsi Ali's office declined to comment on reports in the Dutch media on Monday that she was leaving, but said she planned to address a news conference on Tuesday. "I think it is a painful loss both for Dutch society and for politics that Ayaan leaves parliament," said Jozias van Aartsen, a former parliamentary leader of the VVD, which is part of the center-right government. "I think it says something about the state of the country: overly sensitive and provincial," Van Aartsen told Dutch radio. "People always complain about gray parliamentarians, a parliament that seldomly voices its opinion. Here we have somebody who did that ... and then we have trouble dealing with it as well." SECURITY RISK The Volkskrant newspaper said Hirsi Ali would start working for the conservative American Enterprise Institute in September after reaching a deal with U.S. authorities about her security. The paper said Hirsi Ali had also been in negotiations with two other institutes, the Johns Hopkins University and the Brookings Institution, over the past months. Dutch Radio 1 said the move had been planned for some time, but was brought forward because Hirsi Ali has to leave her heavily guarded home in August after a court ruled she must move because neighbors had complained of the security risk. She went into hiding after Van Gogh's killing due to death threats and only returned to parliament months later. Hirsi Ali, whose real name is Hirsi Magan, pretended she had come to the Netherlands from Somalia, rather than via Kenya and Germany. Refugees are usually required to apply for asylum in the first safe country they reach after fleeing. Immigration has been a hot topic since 2002 when populist Pim Fortuyn said the country could not absorb more foreigners. He was killed by an animal rights activist later that year but mainstream politicians have since taken up his ideas. Source
  8. Sad story indeed. Alle ha nabad yeelo wherever she might be. If she did in fact take her own life, this would be the second Somali girl in the news for committing suicide over school issues. Harvard Student Maryan committed suicide in 2002 because of difficulties she was having at school. I read about that Harvard student few years back. Somalis need to realize depression/mental illness is a serious sickness that needs a professional help before it's too late.
  9. Hirsi Ali has bettered her life, and has championed causes that need determined champions. But one nagging question remains. Why is this former asylum seeker a member of the same party as Verdonk? This is the minister who wants to deport gays and Christian converts back to Iran. This is the minister who has vowed to keep economic migrants masquerading as refugees from getting into the country. Why is it OK for Hirsi Ali to lie to make a better life for herself in the Netherlands, but Pasic can't even be allowed to stay a few weeks extra to finish her exams? Good question? Why? Is she above the Dutch law or granted immunity in exchange to badmouth Islam? Double standard in action?? Originally posted by Castro: Keep the lynch party going. lol@lynching. What’s there to lynch about Ayan. What's there to gain from lynching a filthy mouth? Her lies has been exposed by Dutch TV, not SOL sxb. Maybe you should direct this comment to the documentary directors. I’m sure Ayan is in desperate need of a rescue by now.
  10. My tuulo is better than yours?? Root cause of the civil war?? Brighted up people. Somalia is much better than SL & PL.

  15. Very disturbing images. What’s so qisaas about this? Why is Shabelle putting these images online? Couldn’t article be enough?
  16. I just checked the Essence page and I can’t believe they listed Ayan Hersi in the same column as Oprah, Jada, Senator Obama’s wife and That’s So Raven. It must be very humiliating for these ladies to have their names next to Ayan Hersi. I wonder what criteria they used to make the list. While Ayan uses fame for her own benefit and shame her culture/country/family, other women in the list fund & support organizations and networks that make differences everyday.

    Wahhabism

Ladies, why not teach the dude instead of closing the door on him? He might have receptive ears to a Mowcidah Xassanah with Xikmah. Darqawi, looks like you're describing Darqawism, not Mohamed Ibn Cabdilwahaab. How is the Darqawism/Farkhanism movement going??
  20. Islam does not favor men over women and Quran and the Sunnah show that all men are created equal. Because of Allah’s wisdom, each gender has different sets of rights, responsibilities, and religious obligation. Women have strength in some areas and men on other aspects of life and each go through difference stages in life. They don’t even respond the same to diseases and tragedies. These differences do not show or imply of one being less intelligent than the other. Let’s not take the words of the prophet out of context. Such a grave mistake. Back to the topic. Originally posted by Amelia: I think we need to clarify what we are debating here... because I see a clear distinction, for example, between presidency and the position of Amir al-Muminin in an Islamic state. As you're all probably aware, being able to lead a congregation in prayer is not in the job description of the president of Somalia, Egypt, Tunisia, etc etc etc... most of the Muslim countries. Infact, I often notice them standing behind an Imam on the rare occasions they are seeing praying! So I see no connection between leading prayers and being a president or a prime ministers or for that matter, being involved in policy making, which is a line of work that I would never accept should be reserved for men (sorry.. but no1 is barring me from driving or telling me how to dress...certainly not a bunch guys who it doesn’t impact) I was under the impression that a Head of Islamic State would mean someone that holds a prestigious title of Ulil Amr, Imam of Muslim State, Islamic leader with the recognition of being Ulil Amr. Can a modern-day president or ministers be Ulul Amr? That may be a topic of its own but it’s relevant to the discussion. I beg for your forgiveness, as I didn’t read all the replies. Someone might have brought up these points but I interjected the question of women leading prayers to spark a discussion and possibly examine the discussion from another angle. Can calipha woman be able to lead congregational prayers in public or address and appear in public to engage decision-making process and 24/7 demanding active role in society? Is Nur asking if women can be calipha? Or a modern-day president or minister? Let’s focus on these questions. What leadership positions is Nur implying in the title? Is Head of State same as calipha and Ulil Amr leader? Conditions of becoming a Calipha? Male/Female? Once we tackle these issues, we can ask if women can hold any of those posts. Note Muslims are commanded by Allah to obey the Ulul Amr. Who is Ulil Amr you might ask and what does it mean to be Ulil Amr. Neither Somalia’s president nor Egypt or Tunisia are Ulil Amr or remotely resemble one. Ulul amr are those that administer the society accordingly to the Quran and Sunnah. They are given almost the same authority over us as that of the prophet and disobeying them would mean sinful.

  22. Is Sulayman another Yoonis?? I've a good feeling this would possibly be resolved in page 11 or so. "I have never seen among those who have a deficiency in their intellect and their religion anyone more capable than women of swaying the intellect of the most determined of men." Is this the end of the hadith or you just posted a part of it? Now that you've posted this, tell use what the Uluma have said about this particular hadith in regards with deficiency in intellect and religion.
  23. Guess he didn't like him, eh? After all, he's calling him Mr. Sh*tbar Either that or he’s yelling out his real name Harper in Somali. A lady named Joan used to supervise Somalis and they would call her JAWAAN. She tells everyone that Somalis pronounce her name very well compared to other immigrants. Jimcaale is upgraded version of Jaamac. What does Jaamac mean? Your guest is as good as mine. Have you been to ololihii carabiga la isku bari jiray. Anaa Jaamac, Anta Faarax. Did you skip that class?
  24. Leave them alone. Work on your Somali.
  25. No, what it boils down to is that if a woman can lead a prayer since Muslim leaders have the responsibility of leading prayers especially in congregational prayers like Juma and Eid.
