These words, meaningly the opinion posted by Smith are indeed vociferous condemnation of Riyale's administration.

The largest collection of pictures from Somalia (Puntland).

Great pictures. I am impressed by the GAlgalo pictures. -
It is not Haram but hinders any progress towards peace and coexistance. Therefore, i am not in a position at the moment to stamp out their idealogies. I resent the fact that the Sudan government has systematically displaced innocent civilians out of their land and caused them to dwell in a refugee camps for decades.

Sophist, good complex thinking indeed but before i respond to your article i look forward to reading your next one enquiring Somali intellectuals who delve into the exericise of tribal machinations :internal force or mechanism for power?

In my opinion, This is an indication of Somalialand being in a fragile position to either enhance its competition or find solution to it, and therefore, it's hard to mend once its previously strained relationship turns into deadly civil war. Ethiopia is a landlocked country and its only route to conduct trade with Somalialand is through Zone five, for all purposes, they have to avoid provoking enmity let alone labeling Somalis as terrorist in an attempt to win membership for the "coalition of the willing" .

How can Abdilahi Yusuf earn respect if he is too disrespectful to the clan committees' proposal? Every clan has legitimate monopoly on his own turf and they do not lack the power to have the last word on their own interest. Abdilahi should alter his firm position on this disagreement if brotherhood cooperation is to remain intact. This important step can evade political thinkers from labeling Puntland as "loose administration". For now we should forget about these leaders' scathing history. We have to wait the time when we set up a committee that thoroughly investigates any alleged charges against them. The Truth and Reconciliation Commission of South Africa is prime example we should look forward to having it in the future.

Baashi, the 27 seats do not rest on their authority to have the argument and distribution as they wish. Obviously, there is some serious concern of how we will come to terms of agreement with these seats, and i hope that the facilitation committee should interfere and distribute since it could be conducive to deep divisions among the said tribe. Conversely, Our biased inclinations to be more pleasant and subservient to these leaders In spite of their shabby background and questionable present actions seriously need deliberation that safeguards the interest of our people. I don't believe the alleged pilferage case of Dr Galeydh given the presumption that it would have been favorably used to at least combat the recent widespread of famine that plagued the Sool plateau or other regional development because that money was international aid and its utilization to fight against famine is integral to meeting the demands of social needs.

I vote for the Sanaag lady. She has all the qualifications to be president for future Somalia and hopefully shall all Somalis realize that though Majority do know her. This is her recent article to the current peace process............................. STATUS OF SOMALI PEACE PROCESS AND WAY FORWARD Monday March 01 2004 To: Secretary General UN Cc: UN Security Council Cc: American Embassy –Nairobi Cc: International Community Cc: African Union Cc: IGAD facilitation committee Cc: Arab League-Special Envoy For Somalia STATUS OF SOMALI PEACE PROCESS AND WAY FORWARD Somali delegates in Somali National Reconciliation Conference, Mbagathi, converged to discuss the recently amended charter on the 23rd February 2004. After deliberation, the delegates endorsed the amendments unanimously. The charter was adopted by the plenary on September 15 last year but was opposed by section of Somali leaders and this difference was addressed by the consultative meeting that brought on board the rest of Somali leaders. The Somali leaders brought together in Safari Park Hotel agreed on the harmonized position on the contentious issues in the charter and was officiated at State House Nairobi, 29th January, 2004. The plenary was meant for the delegates to endorse the harmonized agreement made by the so-called leaders. The same leaders who made their commitment hijacked the plenary to endorse the amendments. The delegates were not given the platform and the plenary was overpowered in that regard. However, in my opinion and considering the plight of our population at home we need to speed up the process. All these documents around are not our makings and we cannot in any way correct the mistakes in the background of the divergent views but remedy belie on going ahead with the process and the parliamentarians will finally resolved the discrepancies. Obviously some disgruntled SRRC lodicules tried to frustrate the conclusion citing their claim and flimsy points. The issue of who is a recognised leader erupted once more, but as you are aware Somalia does not have proper leaders in context of universally accepted definition of a leader since the collapse of last regime. In the light of that it would disgraceful for responsible of the misery in Somalia to claim to be a leader. The genuine traditional elders are the relevant leaders in their respective sub-clans level. Surely, true leadership is not self-imposed but by popular mandate. The question of sticking to 25 leaders leaves out important personalities and the criteria of selecting the so-called signatories to cessation of hostilities is itself questionable. The reasons behind those insisting on the 25 leaders are based on a notion of exclusive ownership of the process. Somali people have suffered for long period both as refugee and as Internal Displaced Peoples (I.D.PS) at the hands of these warlords. Human rights violation in the areas controlled by various warlords is a common phenomenon. Their performance record in their respective constituencies disqualifies them to be leaders. This conference is the last hope for Somalia and the population that was all along suffering. The AU, IGAD, International community, and United States should take firm action against those obstructing the positive steps. Those who for selfish desires want to extended the enslavement of the Somali people have to be given critical and hard look. The issues returns to the docket of the International community when those endowed with the responsibility of alleviating the problems facing Somali people fail to do so. The statement from the UN Security Council was a sigh of relief and has to be implemented to bring together the moving goal post. I urge the international community and the government of Kenya in particular to continue assisting the Somali refugees until their country is settled. Likewise my profound gratitude to those who committed both human and material resources to salvage Somali people from brutality. Lastly may I appeal for your patience in ensuring that Somalia once more returns to the family of nations. Thanks you Asha Ahmed Abdalla Woman politician Phone: 0722 58 32 67

In the article, "In Fallouja, Fighters Trade Rockets for Rifles," published in Lon Ageles Times on May 8 2004, had partly infused stories of miracles that were exchanged (irrelevant to the main report) by members of the Brigade and some other tales of miracles gathered from the locals. It is important that we remind ourselves that the miracles of Allah never cease to amaze those with murky understanding of our religion. ---------------------------------------------- For the Flloujans, the American pullout is seen as a miracle and already is being recast as a sort of Muslim desert myth. The Brigade members exchanged stories Friday of supernatural events that they said had led the Faloujans to victory. Similar tales were being told at the Friday prayers at one of the city's main mosques and over lunches of rice and stew in the homes of tribal sheiks. Dulaimi, 50, a warrant officer in the new force, told of how the Americans had planned to drop a bomb that "emits a kind of smoke that would paralyze the people of Fallouja for six hours." But when the pilots began their flights over the city to drop the substance, "they looked down and all they could see was water. There was no city. It was like a mirage in summer," he said. Other brigade members nodded vigorously. Another miracle they reported was the appearance of spiders that had come out of of the desert and killed the Americans by biting them. These were no ordinary spiders, said one of the other men, but killer arachnids that could run 15 miles an hour and whose bite felled some of the Marines. The spider's power in Islamic legend dates back to the Koran when, in the early days of Islam, the prophet Muhammed (PBUH) fled angry infidels and took shelter in a cave. A spider came and wove a thick web over the cave's mouth so that when the infidels came looking for him, they did not think anyone was inside, because he would have had to tear the web to enter. Sheikh Dahir Subhi Alubaide, told the thousands gathered for Friday prayers at one Fallouja mosque a similar story about spiders fighting the Americans. The Sheikh spoke too about "the knights dressed in white who fought on the Iraqi side." Those, he said, "were the angeles of God, who made the Iraqis victorious and enabled them to defeat their enemies." Brigade member Abu Omar retold the story slightly differently, saying that when final negotiations were underway the Americans told the Falloujans that they did not care about having them turn over the weapons. All they wanted, he said, was for them to hand over the knights on horses dressed white. "These white-dressed horsemen are the angeles of God who were sent to fight the infidel at the side of the prophet Muhammad," he said. Whether it was angeles or realpolitik that resulted in the deal, there was little question in the minds of locals that the deal with the U.S , it if holds, represents a profound shift in the occupation force's military strategy. "They have realized that this resistance is not minor or limited to a few people--it is widespread, popular resistance," Sheik Ali Salih Badrani said, and it is not only in Fallouja but all over Iraq.

I don't think Capitalism is flawed. Capitalism basically encourages private investment or ownership, protects your business from governmental interferance even though it can levy high tax on your decision to move your business else where, and most importantly, increases competition among businesses. When you look at the stock market such the NYSE NASDAQ, etc, each shareholder seeks to bolster hiw own income which then increases demand and supply. Its main deficiency is that there is no balance of income, but it can at least provide economic stability for the whole nation.

Even in academia, writing is straight line that never zigzags, but the application of diverse genre is highly discouraged as it would take your reader into confounding network of interconnecting sentences. However your writing is very clear and reveals that you are higly skilled in the writing of academia world. What Postman has alluded, in my view, and to the contrary of yours, apart from the nominative, accusative, and the complex subjective adjuncts, was my refering to the straight line. in writing, you can employ series of subjective adjuncts so long it has nominative at the beginning and accusative cases at the end of each sentence. One sentence can be a complete paragraph while coherant with wisdom, but one should wade up to their knees to master such eloquent style of writing.

Allah have mercy on us rudy. The fundamental deficiency of rationally competitive nationalists is growing enormously as well as the level of ethnic hostility. The more years our country live with anarchy the more hostility, and the severity of this growing hostility are far less imagined than dealt with nowadays. From the early period of civil war, we had strong propensity to see the rebirth of democratic Somali government. We cheered a lot, participated the effort to learn or correct the deficiency of the state of anarchy. Year after year, the hostility grew and grew to the point that it is irreparable. I have recently thought about the political episode of the senior Bush. I mean if he were reelected, his policy was to allow U.S troops remain in Somalia until decentralized government is established. Obviously, national interest lied as to why that effort had to linger than it was prescribed, but solution would have been different now. Warlordism keep thriving in Somalia and it's inherited from father to son and from mother to daughter.

rudy, i was busy reading at the different posts that i forgot your reply. You made a point here that our brothers are threat to our nation's future. That is true but ignorance is grinding Somalia. We do have elders who at the behest of their pedigree appeal to young uneducated youth back home. We have millions of young unemployed brothers who barely eke out their sustenance. They rely on the clan welfare or resources provided to Somali warlords to support thier livelihoods but turns to be the incentive when mobilizing and organizing malitias for internal war and plunder. Just remember the former Kenya's president, his declaraton to uncover the conspiracy behind Somalia's endless civil war. He said both Kenya and Ethiopa are doing their part to destablize Somalia in order to prevent future united Somalia from claiming again those disputed land such as now Ogadeeenya and NFD. We need to focus on the external harm first and then solve our differences. I have great suspicion that these two countries are the cause of Somalia's anarchy.

Exactly brother rudy. There are so many clans that reside in Ogaadden region. A large proportion of every clan that now lives in Somalia also lives in Zone five region. As the saying goes don't judge the book by the cover, we, majority of us from Somalia interpret this region as sole region of one clan but it is far from truth. I think Ethiopia has hidden objective that she is pursuing in the long run. Our society aren't aware of that. Even though i said, the sense of freedom is the most expensive sentiment you could ever have in your life despite being stateless now, we lack the vision and determination to dissuade Amharas from becoming the recipient of our giant sea. It is plausible that Somalia become part of Ethiopia. If not I like to read a thoughtful analysis of Ethiopia's conspiracy in Somalia.
-
Everybody is saying this was this and that but the bottom line is the Somalis in Ethiopia are dormant politically and they are not actively engaged the war or path to independence. In 1886, when the British gave this region to Ethiopa, it was entering treaty with different clans of Somalis at the same time such as people of Sanaag and Bari region. They had pact with superpowers for significant reasons. They fought and gained independence. Eritrea gained its independence through long and fierce war against the Mingiste's government. I think the ****** people need to wake up and fight like Palestinians do. There was one time i met a person from that region. In fact he was brainwashed by the Abyssinians and their bogus nationalism. He never believed there was Somali region in Ethiopia and that the people in that region are part and parcel of Ethiopia despite the fact they are under-represented in the cabinet minister or positions in the government. He kept telling me that it is the best interest of our people that we become Ethiopians and not Somalis like we used to. He was truly strutting his political stuff as something legitimate. We got livid in our conversation and from there on; we ended our discussion lest that it embroils us into internecine argument. I think there are so many people in that region who are traitors, conspirators of Amhara government. You can't conduct business there or import your own product. Apparently, those people draw shame for the rest of us. They convince Amhara in their conspiracy theory something heinous, disgusting image of our people, very intricate situation indeed. Lastly, even though , there is no government in Somalia right now, Somalis can live with being stateless status because the sense of freedom is more expensive than anything in the world.

There seems to be consistent killing since the regional soccer tournament begin. Sports should be an exciting event but i what i don't understand is that why would someone shower bullets to a whole spectators just because their team is winning or in other words they are fan of the visiting team? Second, It is proven that the city administration can't secure the safety of the people in these cities. Are they just figureheads or legitimate in their security operation? Is Somaliland Compatible with Modernity By Deeq Yusuf (Ina-cabdisatar) According to the Butterfly model of the Chaos theory, when a butterfly flips its wings in Tokyo, it does rain in San Francisco. This is a reflection of physical globalisation, in which the whole earth is treated as a single entity; normative globalisation, in which the principles of modernity become universal as norms – though not as practices – around the world; and economic globalisation, in which abstract principles are united with practical production and distribution processes of goods and services.. If the trademarks of physical globalisation are the nation and the state, if the trademarks of normative globalisation are abstract individual rights and self-determination, the trademarks of economic globalisation are both universal greed and, paradoxically, a demand to take action based on compassion for others. Thus, where do Isaaqland (Somaliland) fit in terms of both modernity and globalisation. I prefer to use the word Isaaqland instead of Somaliland as it is among the ****** (**** ) clan who consist about 50% of the population of the old British Somaliland Protectorate who are vying for secession from proper Somalia. As a matter of fact, it is only 13% of these 50% who spearhead this myth (see the research by the New York – based Somali Institute for peace and development). Unlike the five poor British MP’s, who have not done their homework on this topic, I will not rush into premature judgement and conclude with phantom statistics as they did. It was obvious that they were all suffering from colonial hangover. Instead, like the British- Jamaican born poet Benjamin Zephaniah who recently rejected the OBE award (order of the British empire) from the Queen, I am a fierce opponent of the old-British empire, a descendent of the Dervishes (Darawiish) martyrs who believes in the African renaissance. Again, in view of the complex nature of the Somali clan politics and social relationships, I will try to present an educated view and adopt a scholastic approach in my analysis and discussion. Modernity is, as Hegel said, both ‘’the certainty of self- conscious Reason that It is all truth’’ and the establishment of the knowledge based on that subjective conviction that the actual world is rational. In other words, the essence of modernity is the religion of rationality. The religion of reason labels any other form of religious faith as superstition and makes it incumbent on all adherents to this rational religion of the enlightenment to attempt to transform the world into one which mirrors rational thought. Rationality is defined as reflective thought that conforms to the actual operation of the world. The measure of this rational is the utility of objects, and the utility of thought in comprehending and mastering the world. To ensure that the dual sovereignty of reason and evidence reign, critique is applied to prevent irrationality from corrupting the modern global faith on evidential rationality. So, where do Isaaqland (Somaliland) fit in terms of both modernity and globalisation? In order to address this question, I will begin by asking what are the enemies of the religion of reason, and in the process use them as a yardstick to measure the compatibility. What are the enemies of the religion of reason? There are three. The tissue of superstitions, prejudices and errors shared by the masses is the first. For example, if most people believe, at least deep down, that our skin colour or physical characteristics on the outside reflect inner character differences or intellectual capacities, in spite of the enlightenment attack on such false beliefs for over two hundred years, then such racial convictions must be strenuously attacked by the religion of reason. Racism has no place in the rational enlightenment. Nor do any other set of beliefs which deny that reason ultimately unites us all. The religion of reason recognises that there are divisions among people, but that whatever divides us, we are united in being rational. Now, ask any advocate of the secession of ‘Somaliland’ the difference between northern Somalia and southern Somalia, and the answer you will get is that ‘’we are better than them’ but how my friend, giving him enough ropes to hang himself, he foolishly explains ‘The Italians use to ride on their backs in order to cross rivers’, ahaa, so what about the British ‘No, they were very kind to us, so we are better than them and we also speak English’, but my friend, you are still a Somali and there are no differences between oppressors, in fact, I am from the north and the British massacred more than 300,000 freedom fighters and their families during the dervish uprising led by the Late Mohamed Abdulle Hassan (Mad mullah) from 1899 to 1921. However, when he sensed that he had been cornered he resorts to verbal aggression ‘war naga tag diintaada yaanan caayine’ means ‘get lost before I curse your religion’. It is obviously clear from such discussion how the religion of irrationality, contrary to the evidential rationality, is deeply rooted in present day Isaaqland (Hargeisa – Berbera – Burao triangle). Second, the reason for any false consciousness among the masses (the elevation of any other factor above reason) is attributed to an elite, an evil elite, a priesthood which has led the masses astray in order to gain power and control for itself. For the Somali National Movement (SNM), the traditional religion was the opiate of the masses. But the heirs of the SNM religion (Egal and Riyaale), became a priesthood of a collectivist tribalist religion in the name of the avant-garde of Somaliland, which labelled enemies by a different externality: their opposition of the myth rather than the colour of their skin. Again, unlike most armed opposition groups in Africa, the SNM admired the terror unleashed by Colonel Mengistu (the former military dictator of Ethiopia, who was also their mentor) against the Ethiopian opposition groups like the TPLF, EPLF, OLF, ONLF, WSLF and believed such terror reinvigorated a country. After, the collapse of the Somali State in January 1991,They (SNM) constructed a mental ideological order that bore little resemblance to the rational order of the world and produced the most dysfunctional system in the worship of functionality. A good example is the collective punishment of the non-**** people in the SNM controlled localities, Mass deportation of southern Somalis, the arrest, torture and handing of innocent ******is and Oromos to the corrupt Meles regime in Addis abeba with no strategic reward although the TPLF regime is a ticking bomb by all definition, radio propaganda programmes to heighten irrational fears and divide people and become the ideal instrument for Riyaale and co to stoke hatred and enmity. It is very unfortunate that five members of the British parliament were so brained washed by such a gang, even to the extent of lobbying on their behalf in the house of common, although this will not impact on the official position of the British government on the territorial integrity and unity of the Somali state. History, on the other hand, had shown, such a house of cards as it is presently constructed in Isaaqland collapsed in on itself. In fact, there are many strong features and indicators out there pointing to the beginning of the end of this irrational religion. The third enemy of the rational enlightment is despotism. When a ruler constitute himself as an authority over all others, he was guilty not only of usurping the rights of those who were ruled, but of offending against the enlightment itself. A good example was the fabricated referendum and election, the current friction with Puntland i.e the closing of colonial borders without collective consultation of all the individual concerned. For the premise of the enlightenment is that each individual, and only the individual, has within him – or herself the power to think and to make rules governing the collectivity and, therefore, to delegate the power for making such rules to a representive. NO one has the right to usurp that power. Look at the arrest of Sultan M Abdulkadir, Garaad Abshir, King Buurmadow and many other intellectuals behind bar simply for their views. Unfortunately, those **** intellectuals who do not imbibe the religion of the gang in power are labelled as self-hating isaqs. All these injustices are justified on grounds of imposed mass superstition. It is a documented fact that, the gang in power (600 people in total) are sustained through an annual budget of £10 million, which had been forcefully milked from the coffers of the poor masses, and thus the gang are in no mood for a change and will fight teeth and nail to preserve the status quo. Thus, individual rights and critical rationality form the bedrock of modernity to resist the enemy of mass gullibility. For mass superstition is not an inherent feature of individual human beings, but is attributed to an elite of ‘con artist’ who become the ideologues of an intellectual ‘pyramid scam’ to rob people of their ability to think for themselves. When this happens, as it does in Isaaqland (somaliland), the political realm is left open for tyrants like Riyaale and co to exploit the people and grind them down physically as well as intellectually. . I can't believe even the BBC somali section disseminates this hype. And what is the reason behind the BBC somali section changing its known status quo. "the self-declared government" is now aired as "Dowladda somaliland" ama "Madaxweynaha dalka Somaliland"

I found this article very amusing because they stressed that even black men want to be white women, using Michael Jackson as a prime example. Pessimistic Sue" Micheal Jackson's case is totally different. There is no single black person that appreciates this man's hermaphroditic transformation. Apart from blacks, Somalis have unique complexion and features, but beauty is for girls. Men's beauty is intellect.
