  1. Sheherazadeh, I like everyone who is blessed with good writing skills for my selfish entertainment or enjoyment. Any tips as to how I can improve my poor vocabulary and avoid using repititive words and sentences? No amount of words I memorize(very good ones which are college level) seem to help me out. Surely, I don't write as impressive as some brothers and Sisters write on SOL. My brain seems to favour the simplest of words that are very common. What do you suggest? Part of the reason I am attracted to online and to forums like this is to practice english and read other people's contributions as well. So far I have taken only Composition 101 and I am serious. So tell me, what is your secret? And sorry to hijack the thread
  2. lol@he wasn't my dream lover, LOL. Ain't that funny? How sad really.
  3. Good advice bro Jacaylbaro. Sensual, January isn't that far. I suggest you keep your patience to make your marriage work. You will make your husband sadder by putting pressure on him when he obviously lacks the means to find you a separate living. There are worse things many women endure to make their marriage work than irresponsible mother-in-laws. Once you move out, the problem will hopefully end. PS: I don't have one Just wanted you stay with the poor husband of yours and that you don't destroy a home so new.
  4. HA, Why did you ask me the question? LOL. Yes, I do believe that "love" as in affection, devotion, fondness and infatuation exists. What would you call that feeling you get when you become acquainted with a woman who has the qualities you love? Those personal preferences of yours? You will be inclined to want her for you right? The more you think about her, the more the feeling grows I suppose. That is what they call "Love" LOOL. And then there is the unexplainable love, the one that makes the person obsessed and blinded to realities. I wonder what makes someone believe that there is no equal to the person whom they love when the obvious is that the person isn't everything, and by comparison, there are others who are far better in terms of beauty and character? Which brings to mind the sad story of Our Somali Romeo "Cilmi Boodhari". Have you read Cilmi Boodhari's poems? I read his poems recently in an online Somali website and was surprised at how the man was far ahead of his time in terms of romantic expressions. People must have labeled him insane for his weird uncustomary expressions at the time. Somali men were traditionally stoic who looked down on any emotion let alone Oral expressions of Love for a woman. But Cilmi Boodhari was open and quite uncaring about what others thought. So, HA, MY point is, Love exists for whatever reason and some people become possessed. Personally, I don't mind if I am The One being LOVED. Then I can call the shots . A vantage point from which I can negotiate a better deal LOL.
  5. LOL@HA, Bro, think about our Somali parents, the majority of them never dealt with dating or choosing their own partners. Yet their marriages lasted longer than the marriages of today. I am sure they sacrificed a lot by staying together through thick and thin. They were less materialistic, focussed on family interests and its survival rather than on its wanton destruction, cared about the cohesion of the family more than they were eager to get rid of some displeasure in a relationship for the pursuit of personal happiness. All that for the sake of their children. My views changed over the years on this as many other things have changed, I don't think of it as too bad to marry a good woman recommended by friends and relatives, provided in my case, She is not from My tribe let alone a close cousin. A cousin is like a sibling to me, so it would be a no go area if I was on the hunt for a woman or was making recommendations for some friend. It would be nice if everyone got married to the person they came to LOVE and are enamoured with. But that doesn't happen too often, so my resolution is, no time to waste on the triviality of romance when you can simply marry at will and trust Allah. I would hate investing time in a woman and end up losing to some uncontrollable events. How about that broken heart that refuses to sleep? LOL. And it would suck to start all over again once Preordination overrules LOVE. It seems, I am not into uncertainties anymore. Surely, life always will not be perfect whether you marry Someone you are Madly in Love with or To Some stranger Destiny lured to your corner , it is never without struggle but an enduring companionship if two people decided to make things easy for themelves and work hard I think.
  6. Seven of Nine, "Cool" as in "I am glad you are young" or "Cool" as in "I at least got one guess correct"? LOL. The first option has deeper more subtle meaning to it, so comment wisely. The second One, should you opt for it, is given to help you save face if you don't want to admitt to the first one Complicated enough? LOL. Inteen ka baxaa, Meel Alla waaye.
  7. Aeryn Sun, Niyad isku dhiska caadi waaye lol. If someone praises the food and they want to compliment the effort of the cook/wife/mom/Sis and etc, I have no issues. The thing I find embarrassing is when people relish talking about food ceaselessly, Or they complain alot if something contradicts their taste buds, nitpicking and taking the food apart and commenting on every aspect of it. It is just a food you know, Cun ee hore u Soco. What is the big deal about it LOL. I even apologize to the waiter when they intimidate him or make him look bad. PS: Magacaaga waa xafidi la'ahay. Had to go back several times and see how it is spelt. Hadalka badan inaan iska dhaafo aa la ii qaatey aniga LOL.
  8. LOOL@the picture of Xoogsade. Hey Waryaada, Didn't I mention Xoogsade is just a fictitious name and a decoy designed to give the wrong impression? I am not even half the size of that Choked dude you have there LOOOL, or really want to look like that. PS: Gabdhaha Masaakiinta maxaa loogu Qasbaayaa ninka Qaawan iney Fiiriyaan? Califalaaxaa ugu jiro kulahaa lol? Califalaax maasheyna kaas? Waryaa Shoobaro, Saaxib, Gabar walboo fiirisa Califalaaxa in laguu heesto ogoow haddabo
  9. My presence in the political section is superfluous and some sort of a distraction for you guys I suppose. Someone with nothing to defend and nothing to be passionate about can only be a nuisance. Enjoy yourselves and your Company Warya Dude. Take Care Bro.
  10. Seven of Nine, Did you assume I am athletic because of "Xoogsade" username? LOL. The name is a Decoy. I am not into business though my skills of salesmanship are great I think. The half-darkened half-illuminated silhoutte comes from my thinking of you as very quite, mysterious and secretive person in nature. I could be wrong though. You seem to be in a hurry as well. That is where my assumption of you writing while standing up came from. And the fact that you write in short precise terms that fulfill your objective exacerbated my thinking LOOL. Sorry about the analysis. I should have spent my time doing something else rather than spending it on analysing people My Mistake. Thanks for the nice comments about me.
  11. Xarago, Kaftan waaye. I guess smith himself assumed you were Old because of your knowledge in the subject at hand and how well you put him on the defensive all the time. People associate Old age somehow with the knowhow of Politics. Wrong assumption always. Anyway, If you are bothered by a comment(such as a name you were called or etc), try to not demand an explanation of why the comment was made to avoid the stigma of it. You are a character online as all others are. What they think of you is not always true and you shouldn't worry or imagine some other things. Take Care. PS: Very funny though how being called Old bothers you I am tempted to call you Oldy whenever I get time to visit here. But I won't anyway, so relax.
  12. I saw the other day A tea in a green small box that had a label saying Classique with a picture of a woman whose hands were decorated with Xinna/Cillan , Strangely, it reminded me of this Classique in SOL, the attractively rebellious in nature girl. The name "Classique" must have come from there I thought absentmindedly while I paid the Cashier.
  13. Thanks Elegance aka Xarago, Dadkiinaan Duqoobaan(following smith's footsteps) wax ka bowsanaa. Hope you understand Bowsi LOL. Try Northern Qaamuuska if you can find it, otherwise, Lemme know
  14. I am confused about Gobollada Dhexe and Galgaduud? Where does Galgaduud fit in? I always assumed Gobollada dhexe to be part of Mudug. I am laughing at my enquiry LOL. In the old days, I wouldn't have asked about any other Somali town or would care to know about it. Nothing but Mogadishu seemed to be in existence. Now, I operate in the dark not knowing what is what or who is who Although I can tell someone's tribe if they say they are from Gedo, Galkacyo, Hargeysa, Lascanod, Borama, or from Kismayo(one of many tribes), All assumptions of course but the major tribes who settle in those respective Areas are famous. Mogadishu is just Notoriously International, Gearge Bush knows if Someone tells him I am from there LOL. How are you related to Aidid Sr will be the Question. Anyway, Arrintaan Gobollada Dhexe iyo Mudug mexey kala yihiin? And Galgaduud fits in where? Or it is separate and its own region? Btw, Rahima didn't insult Galkacyo but laughed at Liqaye's Comment of "Nuff said". I think that was funny too considering how it poured cold water on MR.WD's extreme elatedness about Galkacyo. Things have drastically changed in that people nowadays associate with their City of Origin proudly. In the Old Days, Someone shouting Galkacyo would just be laughed at LOL. I think this way is much better where everyone wants to build his Tuulo/town/city. The country evenly becomes progressive instead of all developments being concentrated in One city due to Immigration and settlements. A policy the earlier and last functioning government didn't advocate or failed to implement. Conflicts would have been less contentious and devastating since people would have lived not far from where they were born if they had everything in their region, no more loss of property and bitterness, and no more start up from Zero. If the country comes back to its feet, with all the even progress going on, all regions will have everything people need and they won't have to travel to another city to get their needs met. Superhighways will be next where people can travel and cover the whole Somalia in One day or half a day depending on where they live. I am not sure I will see that day of unity and happiness considering the malice and the abysmal differences people have due to tribalism. But it doesn't hurt to hope and make a saddened heart smile by thinking about a bright future that is long over due and not showing its pregnant Clouds over the horizon yet.
  15. Sheherazade, I used to argue with my cousins and older brother about that. I used to tell them If they were going to comment about the food, to let me know before hand so I could take another table. I don't know if that is something strange about me but I really feel embarrassed by people talking about food or telling the waiter this is bad or this is good. Just eat if you like it or leave it alone if you don't LOL. Glad I am not freak seeing Sheherazade shares some of the aspect Btw, Sheherazade, Aghazade, Ramezanzadeh and Iranian/persian names are quite Cute.
  16. Originally posted by Unreal Heart: quote:love is blind! blind love can take u to the hell.. we need to think in our mind before our heart. LOOOL, How truthful. Surprisingly, We can't help but fall in love blindly even it takes us to hell sometimes. I find this comment hilarious and very truthful. Good topic and I agree with bro QacQaac, definitely you girls are educated. I also find girls to be more lenient in character than Brothers. You guys are always the nicer, less argumentative, less tribalistic and most importantly, less violent. I am blinded sometimes to all the good things about Somali girls although I don't go out and make my objective to slunder them on a daily basis. May be I shouldn't be Harsh in my criticism lol. Anyhow, Ilaahey ha idin barakeeyo, All of you including DA
  17. Seven of Nine, That was very impressive! I don't know what to say except think that if you decide to pursue the same online character you came to like for their intellectualism, outlook of life, and overall character, they can become real. Liking someone's character is a first step always to other possibilities only if one is willing to take another step. To be a real person or to remain a mere online character depends always on how much involvement there is between people. The longer you talk to the person(provided you liked their character in the first place and they don't prove your impression about them wrong), the more likely things can change from unreal to real. And that is Only if you open the door in the first place. Yea, I like people who write eloquently too. They make my day. Take Care.
  18. Things that would make me uneasy about a woman. -Continous asking for a ride to every place, important or unimportant(I would feel used and I don't like it). - If she asks for Money more than Once, My Antenna would go up(I like to give it to her without her asking, If Only to avoid thinking she is out there for my hard earned Money). - If she eats Alot, Gosh, I can't look at Hunguriweyn(Even when I go to a restaurant, I tell the guys I am with, to not complain about the food or praise it too much, I find that somehow to be Dhuuninimo(Avaricious), Waxaa igu yaraadey iigu soo dar xataa ma dhihi Aqaano, I just eat what I am given and Walk away). If she keeps quite and doesn't ask for anything, I would buy her mountains of Gold and would do anything for her, after all she is my darling right? Besides, I should know what she needs without her telling me, so she should trust my instincts. My problem is a woman asking for something LOOOOOOOOOOL. I would become suspicious right away LOL LOOOL.
  19. I only imagined one person, Seven of Nine . The mental picture I can formulate is that of a silhouette walking briskly to the computer, dropping(writing) while standing a two liner comment that is Crude but Effective, No face, no full figure, Just a shadow, legs in pants, Vertically half-darkened half-lighted silhouette as if she meant not to be seen or hiding herself from someone. Btw, The Avatar She has has this cute smirk that says: "What is that all about??, Or I gotcha! you can't fool me". I haven't thought about others just yet. In any case, our imagination of others online is aided by their contributions. A clever writing person will look clever in the imaginative world I think, A person who is well versed in Somali and politics is usually associated with an Old age, A person with Ebony english is associated with young age and etc. My conclusion is that 99% of the time our imaginations are wrong and people turn out to be different in real life. What people present here is fractinal portion of their whole person.
  20. Mr.Talented(LiQaye), I like your language(english).
  21. Obsession with leadership is a sign of what is to come of abuse and corruption. Men should be appointed as leaders by the people and men should not appoint themselves or seek leadership through unconscionable means. You have to fear a man who loves to rule, who has killed for it and will definitely kill for it again. What guarantees do people have to dislodge him peacefully once they come to dislike his rule? I have no doubt in my mind that people came to identify Somali leadership and Xukunjeceel with corruption and abuse, Hence, their lack of enthusiasm for power seekers. To them, a powerful man means a loss of freedom, injustice, massive arrests, favouratism(just look in the forum and the people who are the supporters of their immidiate tribesman, can you trust them?), appropriations, and ultimately loss of life. Who can blame them for their distrust? Aniga ra'yigeyga waxaa waaye, Somali yeysan xukun u dhiiban nin xukun jecel oo diinna aan waxba ka ogeyn. May all the warlords and Dictatorial Men die in pain so We can live in peace wherever we are.
  22. Very entertaining though! I spent amble time following his empeachment. The guy has a way with words. I despise republicans so any bigot who makes them look bigotter than he is, is welcome
  23. This war has already been costly to the locals(inhabitants). Waxaan qofkii soo abaabuley qasaaro weynuu u geystey dadka masaakiinta ee degaanka deggan. I am wondering what they were thinking about in approving and undertaking this suicidal mission?? They had better chance of negotiating for and speaking on behalf people's rights if a federal government was formed and all they needed was wait for few more months. They made a previous sad situation irreversibly sadder with this talk of clan cleansing. All they did is to leave people helpless.
  24. It would be great if Somali Restaurant owners read the papers so they become aware of articles like these which can serve them as a feedback. May be I should print this one out and give it to the owner of one restaurant so he can keep up the good work. I laughed when the writer said it is hard to keep track of how many restaurants exist since the numbers keep changing from one week to the other lool. What is happening to them? Lack of business? I am also glad there isn't any negative. Anyway, saxib, Nice article, good to read a postive article about Somalis.
  25. Being online is one thing, but Competing with the singles is another. I think Shukaansiga iney iska dhaafaan and keep to the socializing Only Barambaro. Haven't you noticed some people saying they are on break and at work? Most people come online when at work. That is why I think getting time for online socializing is not an issue. But if one gets addicted and tries to be online as much when at home, it can be counter productive. Your partner needs attention. Imagine your Husband laughing at the screen and you happen to check what is going on and you see Seven Of Nine? You would hit the roof wouldn't you? LOL. It is nice to avoid anything that invites insecurity to a relationship. And if being online does invite such things and more, one is better off not being online. People give up a lot of freedom and make a sacrifice for the sake of the person they get married to. The days of anyone doing as they please are over once people get married. Everything that is done, is done with the other person in mind. Seven of Nine You make a good point. I wonder though if it can work the opposite way as well and you become disappointed with a relationship instead of rekindling or working on it(if it was broken) by seeing more intellectual, decent funny guy online? People change their minds if they are not well-grounded. Being online has benefits as much as it has disadvantages I think. Just a thought.
