  2. You can still post in the general section where people will have the leverage to say more. In here, the islamic section I mean, They may shy away from saying too much and will let those whom they suspect to have more knowledge of islam comment exclusively. The Aussies voted I think and I have no idea about the Brittish. I live in america and the vote already started(for Americans overseas) as well as in some states like florida. There are only ten days left for the main voting day, which is November second, and a many people think Republicans will steal it again for Bush.
  3. Northerner, By looking closely, The woman's wedding dress is designed like the Sphinx(Like HornAfrique's previous Avatar if you can remember). It is one of those Pharoanic Figures. The design is as such(the way it looks) only to allow the woman's face to appear while the rest of her body gets lost under the structure-like clothing(hope my wording is correct and makes sense). Basically, she looks like the Sphinx. I could be wrong in my guesswork though and someone else might have more factual info about the dress.
  4. I have no memory of Dugsi being Aftax. May be it used to be but I don't remember. I know schools and work were off. The best thing about it where waiting in anticipation the MIGs fly over Xaafaddeenna and then trace their formations in the Sky. Wanted to be a Duuliye someday. Who knew I would end up in America and look back at Somalia in the Map to wonder how many miles do I have to cross in journeying back again
  5. The story looks like the typical one you would see in the evangelical websites where they are hell bent on fabricating stories about Converted Muslims to christianity after an alleged abuse. Oddly, someone once dropped a website where people could read the story of a somali christian woman and a guy by the name Liban though I forgot to bookmark the website. Their stories sounded similar in design. Both were after Love they couldn't find in their islam and in their community but found it in the church dogma.
  6. Three days at work along with some somalis(waa ka qaraabtaa since they bring the stuff), Two days at school where I have classes from 6:00 to 9:00pm one night and from 6:00 to 10:00pm the other night. I leave the class/lecture to get something out of the vending Machine, Milk mostly after breaking the fast with water, go to the libary and kick out whoever is in the reading rooms Mostly Somali girls, pray and then head back to class. lol@ready to be sampled. Saxib NGONGE, lucky you Old Man
  7. If you know the Answer from Islamic perspective, The legality of voting or the illegality, I will be much obliged to you. I thought using my citizenship as spoiler. I want Bush out of office and don't favour Kerry either. And though this is the Islamic section and not the political One, I seek the advice of those who know something about islam and want their perspective on voting in Nov Second
  8. How About Aydiid Jr? Didn't he Vote for Abdullahi Yusuf? yet I hear some spokesperson of him said they won't give up Villa Somalia unless Aydid-Jr is appointed to an acceptable position? That is an embarrassment at a time of national reconciliation like this. It is Good Atto Accepted the Outcome. I hope others do too so people can move on and get some normalcy and order in their life.
  9. I am concerned about the future of the free enterprise in Somalia. Will they let it thrive and continue or will they stifle the progress and impose some sort of monopoly? With the old mentality being at the helms of the future government, there is a lot to worry about honestly. It is the conundrum of accepting uneducated, unschooled leadership in the workings of a modern day government because of some frivolous archaic system which had to be used to form a government.
  10. by Rahima: Maybe i should adopt the strategy of Xoogsade and let it be You can say It helps to keep in mind that most are bored individuals playing important in an online dead-end political/tribal discussion board However, If you are a serious person who takes things literally, The tragic outcome is to learn to distrust other somalis because of what you might read in places like these. The lines become blurred and it will be easy for you to connect everyone you consider different/other(from another tribe) to be just like the online character you saw and question their honesty even though they have done nothing wrong to you in real life. Particularly when it is not ONLY one, two, or three individuals but a whole lot different people from different walks of life who seem to harbour the same basic beliefs. You get to wonder.... I think an innocent person should not take part or read regularly Somali Politics. They can surely be corrupted. Qof u Dul qaadan karo Musuqmaasuq iyo Qabaliyad ma jiro. So you either become one of them and get sick or you silently make up your own mind about others and still be like them. Either way, you become a LOSER for sure. I hate to admitt it, but after discussing with somalis for so long, and tolerating their bigotry, I just don't care about Somalia as I used to. If you hang out with sick people, you are bound to get sick too. That is for sure.
  11. Silence, Your views are not offensive but wholesome. It is better not to discuss somali politics as it has the potential to make one behave like his/her opponent. The most educated among Somalis are simply as bad as the most ignorant Somali person you can find when it comes to tribalism. They are just blind but see themselves as 20/20. Ra'yigaaga ma xuma. You will be safe if you carry on with your belief. I get tempted too many times to tell some people as it is and then realize, may be I am just like them all too involved in this tribalmania anyway. Marka Sis, you have the best opinion so far. Stick to it.
  12. I read some of the stories. One of them the same day Sheherazade posted the links. The "Prince Omar and Princess Sheherazade". Nice One. Thanks Shehera. 7 of 9 Ramadan Kariim sis and have a great Weekend. You too Shehera and everyone Else who happens to read.
  13. Originally posted by 7 of 9: ^^ And you just had to make it obvious you are stalking Shehe haye? P.S Sorry, I just couldnt help myself...got a thing about observing people and pointing out the obvious LOOL Thanks for making me laugh. Thanks Again. And you are more than welcome Seven.
  14. Sullen_Sue, Forgive my inconsiderate comment sis And you are right, we don't always feel cheery. We all have our moments of sadness though in the end, with Allah's help, we can wish for a brighter day always. peace And Sorry if you were offended. Sheherazade. That is nothing to worry about. If you haven't spoken ever to someone you know over the phone, they will verify whose voice is it they are hearing initially before they get used to it. Doesn't the mind associate looks with specific voice? and for the first time, when the voice sounds a bit alien, and your brain can't pull out an image that can be associated with the voice you hear, you get that curious expression and may ask who is it talking to you. Sorry to pretend an expert here, just relaying personal thoughts and what I sometimes deal with LOL. Anyway, if you talk to the person more than once, they will get to know your voice for sure and associate it with the Sheherazade they know in person. Sometimes the phone alters the voice of the person slightly I think, Hence the more beautiful cadence of your voice over the phone in comparison to the more normal(lol) one you have in real life loooool. PS: And you had to share how beautiful your voice is huh? LOL.
  15. by sheherazade: I like to think that those that have problems with short term memory have far, far more important things going through their head. LOL. There is a lot of truth to that. I agree with your assessment that some of the memory depends on the conscious effort you make to get involved in something real serious when you are doing it. There are things I don't make a point in remembering, such as what I eat for example, names of people I work with but don't deal with directly etc. Sometimes when I am stressed and worried about something, I get stuck on people's names I know. Particularly over the phone. If They call me for something(usually at work) and I have to answer to discuss with them with what their problem is, and though I know who the person is, I can't say right away their names and hide the problem by greeting them pretending I willfully omitted their name. It is frustrating but it goes away as soon as the stress abates. Niyad deggan xusuusta lagama maarmaaney u tahay. The more you are affected by events surrounding you, the more likely I think you notice some changes in your ability to memorize or remember. At least that is my experience.
  16. JACAYLBARO, You already know the meaning I gather but asked it for fun, so I am gonna give you a blast: Here are Some quotes that explain what the word entails: 1. A feeling of strong attachment induced by that which delights or commands admiration; pre["e]minent kindness or devotion to another; affection; tenderness; as, the love of brothers and sisters. Of all the dearest bonds we prove Thou countest sons' and mothers' love Most sacred, most Thine own. --Keble 2. Especially, devoted attachment to, or tender or passionate affection for, one of the opposite sex. He on his side Leaning half-raised, with looks of cordial love Hung over her enamored. --Milton. 3. Courtship; -- chiefly in the phrase to make love, i. e., to court, to woo, to solicit union in marriage. Demetrius . . . Made love to Nedar's daughter, Helena, And won her soul. --Shak. 4. Affection; kind feeling; friendship; strong liking or desire; fondness; good will; -- opposed to hate; often with of and an object. Love, and health to all. --Shak. Smit with the love of sacred song. --Milton. 5. Due gratitude and reverence to God. Keep yourselves in the love of God. --Jude 21 6. The object of affection; -- often employed in endearing address. ``Trust me, love.'' --Dryden Open the temple gates unto my love. --Spenser. Hope that Helps you make a connection with the word LOVE and what it can mean
  17. Bro Che-Guevara, People might be supporting him out of anger with the warlords. They have done nothing for them except hinder their progress, devide people, ranscak the whole City. One of them removed the Main Air-port's running Strip so he can let others dig Carro Kaawo and sell it. The other has been refusing the opeining of the Sea port strangling people's lives. The reason I was disappointed with the whole reconcialiation meeting was because of these men being honored with leadership and seeking votes. That was A joke. Alxamdulillah they are DISHONORED by their other dishonorable comrades big time and people have them listed in their black-book on top of their loss. They squandered their chances and Now their People have the SOLUTION, Invite Someone else and Honour him with what these men had been looking for but couldn't achieve out of their arrogance and greed. As for Abdullahi yusuf, Whatever he was, This is a new page for him, and he knows it I hope. We just have to pray and hope he acts different. People want this to work not for his SAKE but for their own sake Saxib. And they want to humiliate others who refused to give them the honour they deserved. This is a good way to say to these warlords, GOOD RIDDANCE. I am sure hadda iney ka shallaayeen their ways. RAHIMA. Okey Abaayo. That is good to know.
  18. Well guys, Dibad Baxa(demonstrations) are just an expression of disappointment with the outcome in some quarters. Natural for people who felt they have lost something personal. However, I don't think they are willing to destroy their hopes and the hopes of others. Most of them want this to work and are tired of lawlessness. People will get their chance to vote the president out in five years time if they are not still satisfied and he runs again(likely ). And not to forget the men who can make it or break it said except one that they will work with the new Adminstration. I was surprised with the outcome myself and had bad feelings about this, however, realities on the ground will rule Somalia and all the fears people have will not materialize. Abdullahi Yusuf himself said that he knows what others believe about him of warmongering and asked for forgiveness. He got what he wanted always, to be a president, so I think he will be the last person to screw it up for himself. This depends on others either to fail or work and I hope they recognize that and use their influence for the interest of All Somalis. What I would advice (To the Nolanders) are: A- Give the man a chance despite your disagreements with him whether it is tribal or in principle. Only One Man was going to be the president of the country anyway regardless. B- Your fears about wars have slim chance given that everyone knows the first bullet will mean another ten years of chaos and stagnation. And who else should care more about that problem than the Man who wanted to be the PRESIDENT himself always? This is bigger than any position he held before and he knows it requires a lot of begging, cajoling and bringing on board those who who disagree with him. C- Finally, Remember that What Allah decrees is what was going to happen. Perhaps whatever pessimism you have will be proven wrong so hold on to your thoughts for now. Give it a few months, a year and see how it works. You are going to lose nothing except your pride and not seeing your man in that position if you were tribalistic in the first place Now, For those Who support and have Supported Abdullahi Yusuf for Tribal REASONS: A- Others have the same sentiments you have and love their tribes, so don't spoil the mood by making this a personal victory. Surely it is personal victory for you, but celebrate within the confines of your home to avoid alienating others who might feel bad about your EUPHORIA LOOL. I know it is silly and kid-like, but hey, tribalism is childish anyway. B- You should be the first to oppose any misstep and not offer a blind support as is the usual habit of Somalis. That will result in the same adversity people are still trying to recover from. C- Pray that this works inshallah. To Somalilanders: I hope you guys get on board with us for without you, Somalia isn't COMPLETE
  19. Some of the problems mentioned here are very Normal. If you park your car in one spot every time for example, once you change that routine, your mind will take you to the first usual spot where you parked daily untill you notice the car isn't there and you start looking for it. It is just the routine your mind got used to that was suddenly changed one day. So it has to re-adjust to the new location/habits. It happens to me anytime I park my car at the company in a different parking spot. I like to park on the east-side but sometimes there are too many employees and I have to park somewhere different. If I don't remember on my way in to work that my car is parked in a different location, I will look for it after work. I actually found myself remembering suddenly that I have parked the car in a different location and had to turn back sometimes. Embarrassingly, Sometimes co-workers see me standing in the middle of the huge parking Space scanning the area for my car because I didn't make a point to remember where when I was parking it earlier. It is Quite funny LOL. How you do things sometimes has some relationship to your memory. If you are not mindful of what you are doing, you are likely to forget it. I think everything is explainable though some memory problems require medical attention like Sullen_Sue's. Her Avatar makes me wonder if she is like that always in real life?? Sad and Gloomy. KOLLEY THE GIRL IN THE PICTURE LOOKS SAD AND I SYMPATHIZE WITH HER. Thinking too much and worrying can do damage to your mental well-being. Anyway, some memory problems require a doctor's attention and people should seek that while others are just due to habits and how we do things.
  20. Saxardiid, Ramadan Kariim Bro and nothing personal. Wixii kheyr leh Soomalida Ilaahay ha siiyo. Dadka dhibaatada geystey waa niman kooban iyo inta taageerta ee Qoryaha u sidda ee ha oran dadka Xamar. Dadka Xamar are like you and Me. Middeeda kale, any hint, action, or a deed that can be interpretted as favouratism or disregard by others can invite problems. Ulajeeddada aan adiga gaar ahaan kuula hadley waxa waaye, wax abaal marin la yiraahdo ma jirto ee waa duruufo waxa looga caraaraayo magaalo ee magaalo kalena loo tagaayo. Adiga waxaad ka dhigtey markii hore kasbasho ku saleysan codeyn. Xataa haddii arrinta sidaa loo gartey, waa laga fiican yahay in si muuqaal ahaan loo baahiyo. Caqliyaa loo baahan yahay. Dadka waxa keeni kara inuu ficil ku beermo waa laga ilaaliyaa. Gaar ahaan waqtiyadaan oo kale oo qof waliba mar marsiiyo raadinaayo uu Qofka kale u Khilaafo kana ciishoon yahay waayitaanka uu wax heli waayey. Degganaasho, feker iyo wada shaqeyn aa dowlad lagu heli karaa. Digasho, Dagaal iyo dhega ku hadal waxba laguma keeni karo. And I don't mean to say you did it or someone else did it AS OF YET. Just in general. I noticed though both off-line and online some people forgetting themselves in the Euphoria and making silly comments. Inta wax ka meelmaraan, iska hadalka dhibkiisuu leeyahay. It is just too early to forget yesterday's problems and the reasons behind the failures. I wrote the way I did to make you understand the interpretation of others. You know now how things can be personalized and used. Take care Bro. Btw, I mentioned some omitted reasons behind the previously failed attempts doesn't mean I am in support of anyone in particular. I was merely stating some facts. I don't support men for the heck of it or they are related to me, but they have to earn it. If I can defend their actions, then I can support them, if not, I would have failed everything including my faith Saxib. You made the wrong assumptions
  21. Bro AYOUB, Do you think I am related to Abdullahi Yusuf? is that why you asked if I would wage a war/Jihad on his behalf if I was given permission? I doubt if Salafi-Online considers himself one who can give an edict to others to wage a war. And I wasn't seeking one. I asked the Questions for some other reasons. And to answer your question, I don't give up my life for the sake of a ruler, tribe, or nationalism(except if we went to war with Ethiopia for example, and they were the aggressors, I would surely participate and support the Somalis). Does that answer your Question?
  22. Ayoub, did you read them though? Without you commenting on them? Or I am wrong and you were laughing at something else?
