Well, Duke, do something with your understanding of the system apart from defending everything Abdullahi Yusuf wants. A free man with conscience questions all decisions that seem questionable no matter who makes these policies. Hadii kale, like most somalis, qabbaan u ahow qabiilkaaga. Arag inaad meel ku gaartid. Wind.Talker. Saxib, it just seemed to me that you were bent on defending ethiopian involvement in the much talked about foreign troops deployment. My mistake. In any case, this matter is about who can be involved and who can't be and much less about foreign troops coming as of late, so the solution would be simpler if proponents of ethiopian inclusion accept the rejected countries will stay away. Why is it a big deal to have these countries be part of foreign troops? is there any acceptable reason they have to be obsessed with front-line states to be included? The world might help the government more I think if there is unity, less argument and pickering among government members. Belittling men without addressing their potent political point of view invites unwanted events and emboldens anyone who can make this process drag along.

Somali intellectuals challenge the Federal Parliament!

LOL, this is funny -
Aidid is still a warlord whether he came back to the fold or not. People nEver change to me according to their policies at any given time. Abdullahi Yusuf remains to me the same man he was, so remains every man in the corrupted political system of Somalia. They are ALL thugs, murderers, theives. Having said that, these men who oppose ethiopian or frontline state troops to be part of any deployment have stronger argument in the sense that Most people don't like ethiopian troops. Now it is about men, later when the first bullet is fired it will be between tribes, down goes the drain all hopes of government. See the big picture? False hopes and thinking the world is coming to do anything about any conflict between Somalis is futile. Already many sugested Ethiopia and neighbouring countries stay out. Abdullahi yusuf better stop obsessions with ethiopian troops being part of any deployment. He should tell the ethiopians his hands are tied. No one cares about Cabinet ministers or parliament if the policies they make aren't popular. Abdullahi is the Man or so goes the perception He is the one blamed or praised for everything and every move. PS: May be Abdullahi Yusuf thinks other troops from other countries are neutral and won't be as effective as ethiopian troops will be in Mogadishu huh? I wonder why the obsession if that is not the case? Why their inclusion is so important to him? And btw, calling people's ideas absurd is cheap shot.

You have to deal with interpretation by others and realities on the ground. If this is Abdullahi's reign, others are not interested and you know it. They have got nothing to lose and there is nothing the world can do about it. The only people beholden to him will be someone like you or others who have no relations to the opposite end of the spectrum and are caught somewhat in a position of choosing your own man over others. Have you learnt anything yet out of the chaotic world based on tribal sentiments?
-
NGONGE, How are you? Saxib, There was no trust between these men, ministers and the elected president by peers to begin with. So it makes all sense that the president treats them as a threat to his rule and them treating him a threat to their existence. That is why you have this tag of war of words that can translate into a full blown war any time.
-
I wonder if the word "pacified" means to some "conducive" and "submissive" for Abdullahi's reign? or is it an honest wish that an obstacle to greater common good be removed?

Look, Ethiopia had had interest in Somalia ever since Europeans devided Africa and made it into outposts of tyranny and raw material source. The ethiopian King went to the meeting in Berlin at/around 1880s to claim a huge swath of Somali lands all the way to the indian ocean. Even the europeans were surprised by his audacious claim and disputed with him over the issue. Subsequently, ethiopians were taught always that somalis are nothing but a renegade tribe who has no claim to the land they live in. Now that they see their beloved friend Abdullahi Yusuf at the helm, they think their dreams of making Somalia politically subservient to Ethiopia is a reality. They have gained a lot of insight into the corrupted Somali politics for the last fourteen years where every warlord including Abdullahi Yusuf went to them for logistical and moral support to subjugate their own people. We all know how Gedo was destroyed, how Puntland was pacified and etc. In any case, I am glad some somalis stand up to Abdullahi Yusuf and say no to ethiopian presence in the capital if all else failed. let them go where they are accepted or the silent majority who oppose them can do nothing so this so called government can work. Otherwise, if Abdullahi yusuf insists on Ethiopian involvement and their deployment in Muqdisho even as part of IGAD, nothing will work. People's wishes will be accounted for willingly, if not willingly, it is brute force that will make those who don't understand the new Somalia understand that the days where one single man did as he pleased are long gone.

Win.talker, Qasab miyaa in Amxaaro la soo dhowesyto waa adigan mar walba dad ku eedeynaayee Amxaaro diidmadeeda for whatever reason? Dadka waa xor saaxib aqtiyaar beyna leeyihiin, waddankoodiina wey joogaan. Amxaaro Abdullahi yusuf ha siiyo meeley degaan. He has a hometown he can sabjugate to get whatever he wants. Plus it is peaceful there so ethiopian troops have to worry about nothing. I will celebrate if Reer Muqdisho insist and put their lives on the line to their last one of them to show their resistance to ethiopian troops setting foot in Muqdisho. If troops come, and Ethiopian troops are part of them, I love to see the ethiopian troops be hosted by Abdullahi Yusuf in his home town. Ha geysto isaga meeshuu doono iyo meesha laga oggol yahay Amxaaro immashaheeda. Just because Abdullahi says or wants doesn't work in every place. If the future of the country is being put at risk just because Ethiopian troops should or shouldn't be part of the troops expected to come, they should be hosted wherever they are accepted and residents don't mind. People have the freedom to reject what they don't like. According to the news lately, troops are welcome in Muqdisho but without Amxaaro being part of them. What makes that UNACCEPTABLE TO YOU? if Amxaaro is that important, they should go where they are welcome. It is that simple.

This topic has come back again and again, and the answer was wisely given by some, it is difficult to maintain friendship between opposite sexes for the simple reason that human beings are naturally inclined to form a bond between them if they like each other. If you are good in most ways, a wife material or husband, nothing prevents your a friend from falling for you. And if there is rejection or an excuse(even good one), the connection ends slowly but surely. It is better to stay away from the opposite sex and keep to normal dealings, helping and not going beyond common courtesy with limited interaction. Otherwise, you must give in and be nice when the calling comes, what the heck right? or just never show the person how much you admire them. IT IS A DISASTER ALWAYS. Hasna. You will have no choice but to marry your friend if he converts. You are actually his guide into the new life and he will smartly tell you to help him stay decent and you must save him from evil. You know how it works, so good luck. Be ready for the obvious. Totti, I like the pic.

Bro Checkmate, the reason I said that is because I don't like relying on people, bothering people, or being too weak to attend to my needs, in that case, even though a longer life blessed with good deeds is nice, I don't want to linger around far too long than necessary. I pray to God that I die Muslim, repentant, and leave this world not carrying too much of a sin. Man, how often do I hear about someone died at a young age who seemed innocent and I said: "Dhib luu ka tagey if he/she has good deeds". I live life to the fullesst thank God, but I don't see a point why people would want to live too long just for the heck of it. Anyways, sorry if this spoils the mood of the topic for some. Diamante. People read posts and make their own conclusions. You care about the committment(typical of women btw) and some wondered about the old age and whether they wanted to live that long regardless What is wrong with that? There are more than one way to look at things. I understand though that this kind of subject is attractive to women.

I was relieved when Aidid Sr died as well Dagaalkii Joogtada ahaa waa laga reestey. Like Abdullahi Yusuf, I think Aidid chose a war over peaceful settlements in disputes between him and his detractors. Strangely, the two men look alike as well
-
Actually, a lot of people despise abdullahi Yusuf for who he had been and who he is. I personally don't like him. He is ignorant malicious tribalist man. How you judge a man and see him emanates from how you set your priorities in life(if you are a tribalist, you don't need much of a reason to like or dislike a man other than him being your close relative or him being not a relative). What you practice as a deed determines what you think of any somali political tribalist figure. They are all corrupt men who wanted and still want to be on top looking down on others. They all pursued their interests of being at the top with vehemence and murdered as much as they could Abdullahi Yusuf being their top leader. If some of you are so willing to forgive a man because he is the closest to you among the despised, I am not and certainly many share the same opinion I have.

Gediid, lol, Am I the one you offered a connection? That is interesting

One has to be insane to have high hopes. Come to Minnesota and see how corrupted some people are behaving already trying to sell themselves as influential men on the president and on the new government who can accomplish anything for anyone. Embarrassingly, they can call him and talk to him. It seems somalis both supporters and anti work deligently to bring down anything good. I don't know about you guys, but Soomaalida Waa ahlu-naar badankood, thus, your hopes for whatever reason are futile. Keep on dreaming, at least that way, you can live in lies and be hopeful than see the realities and give up hope altogether. I just have One advice for supporters of any group, government, personalities, War xun yuusan kaa tegin cause you can't rely on any Somali man/group to deliver. In lagu waashaaba halis ah waxaan. Afkiinnana halaga nabad galo fadlan.

Over-representation of males in higher institution!

Socrates, If you show up at college five minutes to when the the lecture starts, you find a parking space quick, shut the engine and run to class, be seated, listen to the lecture and pretend you are invisible, avoid eye-contact with Somali/nonsomali girls in the hall/class, don't say hi to any unless you miss a class and you want to find out what you missed that day, and then you are back to being a stranger again saying only goodbye at the end of semester if possible, DO YOU HAVE TIME TO NOTICE THE RATIO? LOL. I understand though that college is one of the places people get to know each other. But I am not desperate enough to complain or actually think about girls at school. I am not social as well so I don't feel I am missing anything. In and out, straight to work, back to my apartment, and few chosen companies when Ii have time does it for me saxib P.S, Not to offend, but do you know everything about Socrates? -
Yaab kale waa kanaa! Hadda ciyaal clubkiiyaaba siyaasiyiin noqdey. No wonder somalis are screwed.

For cultural reasons, Some people eat their dead and go naked(in the amazon), drink blood(in a lot of places), swap wives(somewhere in africa) or just show up at someone else's door-step putting up a sign and enter the wife while the husband does nothing if he comes home, some leave their dead up on a tree, others burn them to ashes, you know the ones who worship the live-cow and revere it and so on. To not prolong a comment unnecessarily, I suffice it to say that sometimes people are blind to see the inhumanity, the foolishness, or the sheer folly of what they are practicing as a culture. I watched a whole program about feet-binding a year ago. Women wouldn't be married if they had the natural feet, the smaller the feet, the more chances of finding a rich or well-to-do-man. Kings perpetuated it, social leaders and common folks all enforced it. They all participated in making the practice indespensibly cultural. One of the husbands who was being interviewed actually said he found the unnaturally small feet sexy and that is why he married his wife eighty some years ago. She was glowing happy sitting next to him. People are conditioned by time and accept what would be upnormal as Normal. Because human beings were created with conscience and discernment, when every bad practice starts to show up in their norms, it initially seems bad to many among them and they dither, but with persistence by the advocates of the new wrong acts, and negligence on the part of good people among these societies, the new-bad habits become the norm and the conscience goes to sleep untill it is re-awakened by the message of humanity and clear thinking(religion) again. The prophet was sent to complete the best norms, so in every culture, what is good is left, and what is bad is condemned and taken away If these people elongating women's neck accepted islam and practiced it, they would have understood that beauty is as God gave it to mankind and it should be sufficient for one to have a healthy physique. Anyway, you get the idea here, a cultural practice doesn't mean it is useful to its adherents always or it is something based on solid reasoning. Some of them are obviously wrong.

Seeing A Chance of Unity in The Deployment of Ethiopian Troops!
Xoogsade replied to Alle-ubaahne's topic in Politics
Sky.African, Welcome to the party, You did nothing but contradict your first sentence in your entire post and yet you accuse some of contradiction You forgot to review before you posted may be I think lol. Besides, the mistrust goes both ways. It is not only Abdullahi and his government that mistrust others, but others mistrust him/them too. I think you might know that the people of Xamar in their majority don't see this government as a geedi government. It is customary that Somalis see things differently and according to tribal lines. It is that simple. This is part of why they(warlords, business people who fear government, common folks who are loyal to their tribes) don't want any troops who can change the power equation in case they decide to render this government useless. And that is putting aside the Amxaaro issue. This is a fight(the troops) that if Abdullahi wins he won for LOSING, and if he loses, he just lost as hoped for the way I see it. Anyway, different groups of people can share a passionate hate for a common party they both disdain, in this case, with consideration of history, Amxaaro are not a welcome party. It makes no difference if they are part of a larger group or not. They are still Amxaaro. Somalis who hate them are blind to the other ethnic make-up in the ethiopian army you mentioned. They don't take it lightly as you do. They don't care who is who in an army representative of Amxaaro/ethiopian. The problem is Mistrust, and Foreign troops represent a disenfranchisement to some. Along the confusion, many other Somalis share the disdain for the Amxaro troops going there or to any somali town, hence their support. P.S. Those who are calling for and are in supportive of these troops coming, are of two groups, and I mean in SOL, group One: Honest loyal tribalists who want to see Abdullahi survive, Group Two: dishonest loyal tribalists who take others for fools. There is the third group: Their description can be found in the top part of my post. They are afraid to be undermined in case they want to revolt. And in between these opposing groups, we have Honest passionate Somalis who are true to their Somalinimo and Islanimo and don't like Amxaaro for the long standing aggression of Ethiopia towards Somalis.
