  1. Bishaaro, my bigness and importance could exist only in your head while I may not see myself as all that important(although I am important to those who care about me) or big. Adigaa indho goonni ah igu fiirinaayo perhaps. Mise adaa kibireey ah oo qof kaloo aa u aragtid inuu isla weyn yahay waa kuu dhibaa camal waaye sheekada? LOL. I only expressed what I think represents the real me. And I am not selling myself to anyone if that helps. Adigaa iga didsan aan u maleenaa but if some other forumers agree with you, they can come forward and corroborate your perception of me I am no sentimentalist when it comes to the people, movie reviews and haven't paid close attention to everyone at SOL's sentimentalism. Oops!! I did it again I think.

No dude, death is always a tragedy Mr.Caano-Geel, Why would death be always a tragedy? In some instances where an individual is beyond hope, death could be viewed as kindness. What about that person who can't walk, can't talk, and who is fed through a tube in their throat? Would their natural death be viewed as tragic by you? How about if you consider death to be a door which you go through that leads to another reality as the one you currently live in, death wouldn't seem that tragic to you would it? If death is the end to reality as we know it now, then we have a reason to view it as tragic, otherwise, it is just another process you go through to reach a final destiny Lavie These people met their fate and we can only pray for them instead of questioning why they have died. More worrisome would have been if they were engaged in other ungodly acts or they were sitting in their homes and a sudden death was visited upon them.
  3. Thanks saxib for the report and for your courage in sharing such information with the rest of us. It is a lesson we need to emulate and get over the biased line we take in news reports and analysis. Where do the religious people fit into this? They are numerous and actually the majority if numbers matter and they should put pressure on the institutions and demand governance without nepotism or corruption. Muqdisho is what it is because the men with the real ability are the religious men and they just stay on the sidelines watching degradation. Or the situation in Bosaso is as it had been in A/Y's era where the religious are relegated to the mosques and have no influence? Is their mediation acceptable in case of major political upsets? I thought they had a better influence in their communities over there than their counterparts in Muqdisho who mostly prefer the dollar over the sacrifice for national or local interests. Somalis are not receptive anyway to their involvement so may be they have a good reason to just watch the events unmoved. Anyway, keep up the good work. Bosaso has become a hub for all somalis across clans. We want a solid government and stability over there and hopefully this is nothing to worry about.
  4. Does SENTIMENTALITY hamper or aid in your view of: PEOPLE i.e. what you think of a person No. If there are no obvious anomalies in character or iniquities when we first meet or I see the person for the first time, Basically, that person is innocent till proven guilty, good till proven otherwise. No sentimentality in how I view a person. MOVIE REVIEWS No. I decide what Ii want to see. But, does watching particular movies make me sentimental I wonder? I like thrillers, films made by Asians for their kung Fu and visual effects. I don't make a point in looking for a romantic movie but "Legends of the fall" was really great in my view. It explained human weakness and how blind a person can be to realities when they are obsessed with someone. Anyway, as long as there is an adventure, an interesting story line, violence/action/kung fu/serial killers on the rampage/ I am okay with them. But I like better the educational programs on TV such as Nova, Forensic Evidence(catching killers through scientific evidence and detective work), justice files, and programs that are based on real crime stories. Social documentaries. I am a sucker for real life events that have an impact on humanity. " What is Right or Wrong? " I would say NO again. "Do you think SOL nomads can be SENTIMENTALISTS?" Some can be although I didn't pay attention. PS: Did I understand the question?
  5. "Tragedy" in this case is subjective. Some may have prayed to their creator to not come back alive and die in Makkah During Haj performance. Should I worry and think of the death of such person as tragic? Or one lucky being who have met death in such state of purity(if their haj is accepted)? Something to think about isn't it Mr.Caano Geel? I don't mean to say the authorities in Saudi Arabia don't need to improve bridges and road safeties or whatnots, nonetheless, I see those dead individuals as blessed beings and hope for their easy access to heaven inshallah.
  6. Interesting! But why would I, as a foreigner, be partial in somali politics and Somali affairs? Say, my mother was somali and my father was an eritrean, shouldn't I wish better days, political stability and civilized mores for my mother country and its people instead of being one of the Nomads? Makes no sense to me really. Unless of course, through his maternal connection, he was fed the usual crap of vainglory, having eternal enemies hailing from X-clan/clans and etc, I see no reason why OLOL can't be an impartial observer to the low culture of somalis when it comes to politics instead of tainting his soul like many Somalis do daily.
  7. Miskiin, Good question. Why would an Eritrean be so passionate about A/Y and Somali politics? OLOL might want to minimalize his concern and involvement with Somali politics by portraying himself as an outsider although his profund passion and deeply felt disagreements with A/Y, manifested sometimes in his insults aimed at A/Y, is an obvious clue to who he is ethnically, a somali to be exact. A/Y didn't harm or can harm Eritrea politically or otherwise so there is no reason for an Eritrean to be upset with him or be passionate about Somali politics. OLOL is as somali as anyone of us. As for Togane issue and some of the guys who are trying to sugar coat his ways of expressions, I ask them to clarify their position about poetry? Do they accept anyone can express in poetry or in artistic writing with anything or anyway they deem fit even if what the person says is a clear violation of the islam they adhere to? If their answer is in the affirmative, then there is no further discussion and Togane is as good as the imam of the mosque. If they reply in the negative, and that islam imposes limitations on our expressions, and it also teaches us a method of teaching and conveying messages of decency to a community who needs to change(as both togane and his supporters seem to claim as an objective), then their defence of Togane's expressions proves to be a hyporisy and double standard. I kept thinking when I read some of the excuses penned in Togane's defence, that as long as insults are aimed at the usual suspects for some people, it can be excused and actually can be used for or is a source of vindication. And while reading it, such excusers smile from ear to ear and relish in the fact that Togane is saying what they wanted to say about others who embittered them so bad(A banned person comes to mind although I suspect Xiin might fall through the cracks sometimes and catch himself smiling happily). A job that was theirs to do indeed but done by someone else and they have to show their appreciation and thankfulness by coming to his defence. How sweet really PS: An interesting way of putting a spin on the issue don't you folks think? LOOL.
  8. TolsToy, You are right in your assessment of the events. The government was supposed to bring reconciliation between men only and that they share power and give the rest of us what we want. Some of them had different ideas and failed in their attempts while the rest of them availed themselves to the opportunity as they had been opportunists every turn of the way. Conclusion is, I support the president as long as he is right and I shall oppose him when he is wrong. It is good to be free from the grip of relations to him because I can understand why some of the brothers do get emotional or personal about him. It is easy for me to see A/Y as a person who can err and who is no better than others who are in the saga with him. As for the restrained celebration you alluded to, I am no Duke Xiinfaniin Are you eager this government not to come to Muqdisho? Remember, Muqdisho is the ground where a battle of good versus evil needs to be waged, and for that to happen, a unified government should be there so the people who are interested, and who are in the majority, become empowered and fight for their rights. This government is for all and more so for Reer Muqdisho. Taking it somewhere else will result in the same situation. The sooner a unified TFG operates in Xamar the better. You can all mark my words in this post, nothing will work if a unified government doesn't come to Muqdisho. Arrangements for A/Y's safety will be made and I think considering the eager souls in Xamar to see this succeed, he will find a welcome home and support from over a million people. Marka niman yohow, dowladdaan A/Y malahan, and he should follow the right choices he made these days. He can stay out of town to get things moving to his satisfaction, but the rest of the government belongs to Muqdisho. This is the way to success of this TFG. If not, expect the usual arguments and pickering with the utter failure of the TFG consequently. Bottomline, A/Y and the rest of the government should fight for Muqdisho assuming this is who this government serves the best as the rest of the country has some semblance of order.
  9. Rahima I don't disagree with you as no human being was made to be in servitude to the other. That was my point retrospectively. I do not study and pursue a career, I do not work hard for an income, I do not take care of myself for the sake of a woman. So I get a little irritated when I see some of the comments which make a man's existence as wrothless as solely making someone happy. And don't get me wrong here, cause to please your partner is important. In fact, without good character, forebearnce, understanding, humility, a relationship won't last too long. However, my main purpose of existence is Not to please a woman and no woman should have a list of silly expectations. Anyhow, about the school in the other section, I don't remember what I said that constitutes backwardness. May be a joke I made was out of line. Other than that I reiterate that the school was the product of a sublime effort made by some somalis. Just because they added a cooking class or sewing class doesn't make the school meaningless. In times of great need in our country, we should appluad every effort no matter how little or great it is. Besides, do you know you would get paid more than many college gratuates in the midwest if you are skilled? Sewing pays good in here. And in Somalia, last time I knew it was male dominated business. It is good if some somali girls open their own shops and tailor clothes. I am sure you as a RAHIMA would have gone to a woman owned tailor shop than you would to a man's. Marka, sis, why are you so upset about nothing? Surely, you can't be a Man Bishaaro Waa iigu baxdaa inaa iska dhigo aabbe aabbe camal. Ka faa'iideyso dadka kaa waaween yariiseey.
  10. I read the label of a fragrance called BOD Man Frangrance Body. And it says: "Contains: -Really Ripped Abs -X -Fresh Blue Musk Hey! This is for us, not our dads. Wearing Bod Man will give you control over your future. You will date famous actresses and supermodels. Celebrities will befriend you. You will be asked to act in independent films. Women will parachute in for you."
  11. I never prayed for any warlord and hoped for his personal success, but I don't mind erring on the side of A/Y this time and pray for his and his government's success
  12. Muqdisho is a troubled city though its troubles are not insurmountable. Sida hadda aqbaarta ku sugan, Dhammaan dadka Magaalada deggan waxay diyaar u yihiin in lala diriro ciddii is hortaagta Dowladda if it comes. The residents are best placed to fight opponents and The TFG should enable them to fight for their future. I personally support the TFG if they go to war with the warlords when they present a challenge once officials move to the town. Time to come HOME and FIGHT for our future. His excellency, the president should give reer Muqdisho the opportunity to take matters into their own hands. Guuritaan meel kale loo guuro will result in the same problems as warlords will use such move to their advantage. Nimankaan ninkii iska dhiciyaa ka adag and they know many are fed up with them. Tolstoy You should celebrate with us saxib.
  13. Kashanre, waad iska hadashaa for the sake of it and always look for holes in what people write as if that uplifts your down spirit. It would be nice if what you quote all the time from others or you percieve to be a case against them to be of anything sensible. The line you quoted from me pointed out the actual state of Muqdisho before the last devision. On one side, you had officials named by the TFG in Jowhar to spearhead changes in the town, and on the other, there were these warlords opposing them on the grounds that the Jowhar-TFG named these officials without the consent of Muqdisho(them). Doesn't such constitute political devision and stagnation? I only stated such fact. You can compare that to what others write about Muqdisho. In reality, anyone uninformed about Muqdisho and its complete status, and who reads comments written in places like this, would surely get the impression of a city devoid of any life. Theirs are not statements generated out of love and concern but sheer bias in the least if not outright hatred and an obsession to defame whole clans. I would love to see brotherly concern from these individuals and to make me and the rest feel that they share our concern and pain. I am not interested in hate and bigotry. Anyways, If you are obsessed with me, it is okay, you will get what you are looking for. But try harder. You may find some serious "Slips" in the future. PS: You have insulted yourself Only
  14. I see you changed from "subclans" to one "subclan". I rest my case. And yes, the other online sources would be useful as well. I don't mind reading all the tribal views online as I am aware news is relative. I already read Hiiraan Online Article regarding the issue. Muqdisho had been devided already politically and nothing was moving forward.
  15. Miskiin, The only person up to date who expressed discontent and deployed his clan militia was Qanyare. I haven't read or heard Yalaxoow expressing displeasure. read any news media? I usually call back home during weekends to get the scoop. I haven't heard of bribery either although I wouldn't be surprised if that had a hand too. As for representation in formation of government, history has little significance today and much have changed. Basically, sanity demands that to get matters moving forward, we have to deal with the status quo in the hopes that the future will redress and correct past mistakes. This effort was one every warlord who mattered attended and Qanyare was actually the one who spearheaded the whole effort. There was no one subclan but many subclans and clans who were from afar. Qanyare's candidate was a no show but people decided the election would go on. They can try again with more justice to satisfy everyone although that is impossible. In any case, it seems the warlords have learned to talk rather than fight and kill innocents in the process. Kashanre. Waa runtaa, if a post doesn't satisfy you somehow, it is just iska qor It is common knowledge that somalis mostly see news through specially tailored binoculars. What did Gedo news write about the issue? LOL.
  16. Warlord Qanyare was an advocate for the formation of new banadir Government pretending he was a concerned father figure who was unhappy with an outsider(A/Y) making a mockery of the town and its affliated clans. This Walord left no stone unturned to a point where he sent people with boards to go after men he thought opposed his plan to bring a new dawn to the town Finally, When everyone else accepted his proposal, the town was declared nontribal and everyone in town, no matter how small or large a community is, must be represented. The canditates came from all communities including people of gedo who live in Xamar and others as well. A vote was held and a man among the candidates was given 53 out of the 56 votes which repestend 56 communities in the town. Qanyare got upset because his man in the race who was from his tribe lost. Consequently, he deployed some Thugs from his subtribe loyal to him in Bakaaraha market entrance. His fellow Warlord Atto couldn't convince him to accept the outcome. So the town and its residents, once more, is a hostage to one man who isn't happy with the outcome of something potentially useful to his own people. Scientist is happy about that because to him, failure in that part of Somalia means the failure of the tribes who live there, therefore, it proves his theory that they are inferior to his nobleness. The fact that the majority of the residents are fed up and want change, that they would support any effort towards progress, means little to a hypocrite like Scientist screaming every where "Look, These people, that people". Munaafqanimada dhibkeedey leedahay. This is a guy who was unhappy about the efforts made by the town's people to form a local government few days ago, now that some godless warlord resorted to his religion of thuggery again to distrub the peace, no wonder so called scientist is jubilant.
  17. If A/Y agrees to let his group come to Muqdisho, Residents promised to fight on his behalf for the TFG and take up arms against anyone who opposes it. There is even no requirement for him to come soon himself but send the rest of the government so that this becomes Residents and supporters of order versus men who oppose it and want the status quo. It all depends on how A/Y plays his cards.
  18. Scientist, are you upset because their efforts undermine A/Y? Why would their efforts be a problem to you? I hope it works for them. Is Governance good Only when it is spearheaded by a man or groups of people you support? It is always imperative no matter who wants to impose it. We wish them good luck. PS: I don't understand where your ill-will towards the entities you refer to as "these people" comes from. Can you explain who the people are and what they have done to you personally for you to sound so bitter?
  19. Miskiin, Nice article, all the more reason to support Mr.Garaad. Kashanre. Saxib, He should ignore all the brouhaha and focus on his job neither resign nor address people. Waxaa dad la qanciyaa markay dacwad sharciga waafaqsan wataan. Taageerayaal nin siyaasi ku sheeg soomaali ah warkooda qiimo ma leh because qofkii qilaafo ninkooda ama su'aala su'aal iyaga ay u arkaan inay kasoo horjeeddoo danahooda gaarka ah, waa la colloobaayaan qofkii. Ma dadkaasaa warkooda la xaalayn karaa saaxib?
  20. Kashanre, It is not bad to support a man if he is on the right regardless of him being a member of your clan or not. Your support will be percieved tribal by others at any rate, however, if you have the decency to support any other somali man whose credibility is solid according to your own judgement(warlords must be discounted), why can't you offer the same support to a fellow somali who happens to be a member of your clan? By him being a member of your clan doesn't keep you away from siding with the truth as it stands. As long as the man people are supporting is not a known criminal, a warlord of any kind, or controversial figure whose ignorance is proven, there is nothing wrong with supporting a fellow somali and side with him against aggressive onsluaght because of percieved injustices he has done to some corrupted man or entity. For all I am aware, Somalis here in North Ameria accuse each other of tribal bigotry and work to oust a community leader here and there just because he is not one of them. As for me mentioning Allpuntland website, I typed "Garaad" and "His clan" into a search engine. A two page result was generated and none of them provided clear roots clanwise for him except Allpuntland which had an article shamelessly accusing the guy to be supporting his warlords in Xamar and insinuating his guilt by association. Any naive person can conclude then who Garaad's Clan might be from there on. It doesn't matter if my previous post changes anything or not. That is your translation of my post perhaps. I wasn't seeking anyone's change of heart. And finally, didn't I tell you I am a tribalist? You better believe me when I say that Kashanre You don't need to out me as one, cause, I think it is already obvious I am one
  21. Originally posted by Rahima: ^ Oh yes, we must do all to serve men  . Get over it boys, this idea like some of your views stinks. Sis Rahima, I think some of you misunderstood the article. I understood "The way forward for women's education" to generally mean "progress" where there was non or little. There are more subjects to learn more useful to the communities, at the same time, according to the article, what is being offered in this school is not bad at all. We must congratulate the people who put much effort into this school and the teachers who will teach. It is funny that some schools in Somalia offer actually cooking classes. One of the schools in Xamar offers the same class and I suspect the cooking being taught here is not cooking Bariis and pasto but how to make some delicacies. If I find the link, I will post as it had pictures of the food cooked in the classes. Btw, what kind of opinions expressed do you strongly disagree with? You said some of them stink. PS: Won't you be the "Loving Wife" to your husband and cook?
  22. Could this be the reason Eritrea is giving weapons to Anti-TFG groups? I don't have the proof of that but I heard the Arms are flowing to Somalia and to all sides both to the TFG and to Muqdisho for an eventual war. Just when you thought in dagaal laga daalay, wax kaa yaabiyaa maqleesaa.
  23. Does anyone know if Somali Community Organizations in North America can be of some assistance to schools like that? they might be a good source for more computers to that school. Ten computers are better than nothing but students may not all get access to them with convinience. I think cooking classes should be available here in North America as well for some girls in their twenties who can't cook somali food. Waa ceeb gabaran cunto karin aqoon
  24. I did some googling and found out some indirect reference to garaad's tribe but nothing clear. An article in Allpuntland was telling really as the writer was accusing Garaad to be a murderer and supporting his murderous clan through bbc. In any case, he shouldn't appease anyone as long as he is doing his job professionally. Soomaalida haddaadan isku qabiil ahayn, qofka ku heystana diin aannu lahayn, diintiisana qabiilkiisa tahay, eed lagama waayo, lithalik, maba ahan inuu isku shiddeeyo ka hoos qaad uu ka hoos qaado wixii qabiil ka duul ah. The prospects of him losing his job is slim. I wouldn't be surprised if the BBC hired the somali journalists from across the somali communities. I also hope when they lodge a claim against Garaad, others speak on his behalf and inform the management of what they think of Garaad's integrity. Gaaladiibaaba baratay soomaalida oo mar marka qaar markii la is dacweeyo, they have to ensure it is NOT one tribe against the other. We introduced our primate mentality of clanism to them. It doesn't get any lower than that and others out of their grace, have tried to accomodate somalis as much as they could.
  25. Yoonis, There will be no fight like the one in Aidid and Ali Mahdi's era for a lot of reasons. Many in Muqdisho see the warlords for what they are and have matured, Secondly, what will the fight be based upon? Is the TFG a cause to die for and kill your neighbour? The Jowhar leadership tried to make this government look like one which favours one sub clan in Xamar in the hopes that this sub-clan could come to its rescue and bloody whoever opposes it, but it didn't work as the intended subclan's opinion is fractured and don't see a need for a war on anyone. Whether the move is out of fear, or recognition that there must be a government, we hope it works for them. That is the bottom line. I see no acceptable reason on the part of the Jowhar group and their supporters to cry foul or meddle in Banadir's business. They are not in the Town, therefore, nothing gives them the right to govern it from afar or dictate its policies. The Jowhar faction has made itself irrelevant to Muqdisho and is not a representative government for all as it stands, consequently, any policies they make which are percieved contradictory to the interest of others will be opposed naturally or easily dimissed. To each his own interests ey noqotey.
