an uncle of mine asked me. "Now suddenly I see on the TV in London that the world is talking about intervening again in Somalia. On whose behalf are they thinking of intervening?" On whose behalf indeed. Good question.

This doesn't change anything for those who opposed the courts from day one. Waxaa fiican warkooda inaan dhag loo dhigin oo laga tashado. No matter how much goodwill you show to them, they will not reciprocate but will remain as malicious(having extreme ill-will) and venomous. Warkooda waa cadeesteen I don't see why we care what they think.

Thanks Xiin, it is good to have people like you around who give others the benefit of the doubt. We love the changes we see in Muqdisho and we wish the best for the rest of somalis who need change.

If the objective was to express an outrage, it is better expressed in demonstrating rather than hacking. That is, if there is one planned in your area. With effective media coverage, such demonstration can put pressure on your domestic leaders and in return, they say something. Western leaders are better than the Arab ones. I am sure if they see their muslim constituents in masse demonstrating against this, they might say something whereas in Arab countries you get arrested for the simple act of demonstrating. Does hacking change anything? it takes down a website and causes an inconvience with the result of a severe punishment against the hacker if caught. Anyways, there is little people can do when it comes to the Palestinians. Ilaahaa u maqan.

Hi Sweety, I can take this conversation to the next "A" grade level but decided I shouldn't hurt your female sensibilities I shall be nice again and say to you that as a somali woman, you have beauty and grace. I take back my "blond" taunts Dirac and Guntiino are cool and I would buy it for my wife so she could dress them for me, but going out with them is something else altogether. I am too jealous to let my woman be looked at by other men. Guntiino is such sexy dress that in one glance a man can figure out all the shapes of a woman. Diracna waaba another version of lingerie, simply put on to dazzle your own husband. It is not dress for outside and only somalis wear them which is strange. It is too inviting you must agree.

^ Are you Bishaaro? LOL. These out of the blue new nicks confuse me. Oh yes! and I dropped some good advice for you on your love of freedom post Amelia is far more superior to my group of men. She is nice enough to let me think in the past that I am somewhat attractive in someways. Sweet of her don't you think? I don't have the million dollars required to pay for her dowry. What are the chances of actually getting with nin Somali who you love, who will also love you and cook for you [big Grin] and the two of you having enough in common to stay together intaa kala dhimataan? (Dream on) Better chance to get struck by lightening twice! The chances are plenty for somali women if they don't have this blinding new attitude of scornful, jaded negativity towards somali men. Some have given up as they say(merely an excuse to make themselves comfortable in their new taste of other men). I am surprised at the universality of such a scorn in young women about somali men. I am totally shocked because I don't see that many somali male losers. Well, may be high-schoolers who gave up the culture could be screwed after emulating the worst of their host countries, but most somali males who are mature look sensible to me. Qaat cune ma sheegin and others with destractive habits. We can't be all that bad PS: I am tempted to tell you what is attractive about me that you or others can't see or sense from my sporadic contributions in SOL. There is more than meets the eye.

Originally posted by Tyjwania: This is gonna sound cheesy, but Happy 4th of July everyone!!!! I am proud to be an American. I really Am. I love the freedom I have here. I can stand on my front porch with my Guntiino(which by the way makes me absolutely so amazingly stunning ) if I wanted to without fear of being beaten to death by some looney wadaado. Sorry not trying to leave non USAers out. Happy Canada day to all you Canucks too. Enjoy the fireworks and the four day long weekend. Don't forget to protect your pets (if you have some) their hearing is very sensitive, I know Gismo is not going to like it. Salut. I am willing to take for your word that you look amazingly stunning amid the beautiful blonds so plenty in the neighbourhood with their skimpy clothes. Sorry to tell ya the bad news but the competition is fierce. Guntiino doesn't do it where skimpy clothes and barely covering outfits are the norm. Take your freedom to the next level and be part of the competition in full force, no set of principles moored in faith to hold you back from practicing your wishes. It is good to be carefree. And btw, good luck in maximizing your new found freedoms, afterall, freedom means different things to different human beings

Originally posted by Valenteenah: Are there single-and-happy people out there? No doubt. But maybe not as many as the married-and-unhappy brigade. It can't be that terrible Valenteenah. Unhappiness can creep in always but it depends on the married couple and if they desire to work out their differences and move on with life undisturbed by solvable setbacks and misunderstandings. There is nothing great about being single and that fact is proven by your periodical night dreams/day dreams about that perfect somali man you wish you had under the command of your highness. PS: Horta, if it isn't too secret, tell me about the type of guy you would think to be an almost perfect husband in your book. Forget about him cooking please for now, other qualities Amelia likes chauvenists for sure.

But such an act can land you in jail for some good time. Other legitimate actions are more productive like holding a massive demonstration in front of the jewish embassy in your city if you live in the capital to show solidarity for and displeasure with the israeli government's aggression agaisnt the palestinians.

Sakhar, It is not proven that circumcision for girls is sunnah. Once I tried to convince my grandmother that islam has nothing to do with circumcision for girls, she replied sheekh hebel(who is well known and respected) said there is the sunnah kind. My word didn't count against the sheekh of course and instead of telling her the sheekh was wrong on this I had to drop the whole conversation. The sheekh had other good qualities and I didn't want her to see him in a different light so she abandons other good works of his. It is very unfortunate. We need to give up age old traditions that have no roots in islam.

Very funny article http://www.theonion.com/content/node/50032 Somalia Defeats Rwanda To Win Third-World Cup June 29, 2006 | Onion Sports KHARTOUM, SUDAN—The host city of the 2006 Developing Nations Football Championship erupted in cheers that nearly drowned out the cries of the starving and wounded Tuesday when the underdog Somali side, playing four down due to injuries and landmines, outlasted the more experienced if disease-ridden Rwandans 1-0 to win the inaugural Third-World Cup. "This is a relatively great day for Somalia," said team captain Omar Bin-Shakur, the seasoned veteran whose rise from squalor in the violent ghettoes of Mogadishu to stardom in the squalid and violent ghettoes of the Sudan is already passing into legend. "It seemed like nothing could stop us in the title match—not the great Rwandan defender Bimenyimana, not the mortar strikes, not the rotting cow in midfield, not dysentery…nothing." "They were simply the better team today," Rwandan star Calvin Bimenyimana said, speaking to reporters as the soccer stadium was transformed from a football pitch back to its usual function as an outdoor prison for Darfur refugees awaiting execution. "Yet I am extremely proud of my mates. They did well just to get here, especially after the Sierra Leone match in which Nicodemus was red-carded and shot, and our epic battle with Chad, in which they came at us with rocket-propelled grenades when our team bus attempted to cross the border into the Sudan." Bimenyimana, whose youth coaches in Rwanda considered him a natural for the sport after his hands were chopped off with machetes in 1994, was chosen as the Nestlé Man Of The Match by fans, the first-ever Third-World Cup participant from the losing side to be chosen. However, some aficionados say that Bimenyimana played a lackluster game; at press time, FIFA-3 officials were investigating reports that armed gunmen had shot and killed hundreds at designated Nestlé Man Of The Match voting stations. Somalia was only a fifth seed entering the Cup tournament, and while the Third-World Cup rankings are considered notoriously inaccurate, the nation's weak midfield, inexperienced goalkeeper, and devastatingly low rates of economic growth and standards of press freedom seemed to indicate that they would be eliminated in the early rounds. "Certainly it did not look good for us going in to be placed with Afghanistan, host team Sudan, and the [Democratic Republic Of The] Congo," said Somali coach Abdi Qani. "But every other team was at the mercy of the same sporting and economic factors. In the Third-World Cup, every group is the Group Of Death." After only surviving the first round due to inspired play, UN-supplied antibiotics, and a forfeit during the Sudan game when four Sudanese players seized control of their team and shot eight others during penalty time, Somalia assumed the unexpected status of the tournament's Team Of Destiny. "Never have the words 'win or go home' provided such inspiration to any team," Bin-Shakur said. "I am overcome with joy, as well as hunger, and I look forward to bringing the Third-World Cup trophy home to my country." The Third-World Cup trophy, an AK-47 coated with gold spray-paint and mounted on a pallet of United Nations staple foods, has already been seized by Somali troops and distributed amongst ranking military officers.

What does "Riyaale" mean anyway? Is it "Riyoode" or "Ariile" as in "Aribadne" mise meel magaceeda waaye?

France is my favourite team now that others whom I have supported were sent home. I would like Zidane to retire with a world cup win. I always support the under-dogs.

He is the Only warlord with big guns who remains in Muqdisho. Waa in la safriyaa back to the deserts of Mudug or be captured and brought to a court for his crimes. The relationship between Ghana and Israel goes deeper. The guy who waved the flag could have been one of the Jews of Ghana simply expressing his loyalty to where he belongs in truth than where he was born and raised(Ghana). Jews of Ghana The few people I met from Ghana who didn't claim to be jewish descendants were pro-israel as well. One of them who worked with us was so fanatic he made a mission out of discussing islam negatively and loudly with somalis who were nervous to argue with him in a public forum. This was back around 2001. One thing common about those whom I met were them being evangelical christians who went to school in Israel through scholarships and got their degrees from there. It is no laughing matter but it makes me smile when I recall the looks back then on the faces of my fellow somalis which said at the time alot about what it meant to be nervous, taken advantage of and humiliated.

Duke, adiga waxaa fiicnaan leheed in Xamar xoog laguugu geeyo mar si aa usoo aragtid in qabiil kasto joogo. I will let you know if I get all the details but now I don't have it all. All I heard is that it wasn't one clan or two clans invited but many. According to the news stories, the name includes "Soomaaliyeed" which is quite different from "reer hebel". Even if there was no presence of members from other somali clans, surely the organization is aimed to appeal to all islamic oriented somalis. You are free to criticize saxib. You have the right to speak out against what you see as wrong and corrupt. It is just that aiming your criticism at a whole clan is difficult to understand. It is confusing.

Waxaa iga qoslinaayo Soomaalida qaarkeed dad naxo ma ahan wallahi. Mareykan isagaaba u heysta in warkiisa la xaaleynaayo. Somalidii Muqdisho degganeedna iyo walaalaha kalee kasoo qeyb galay shirka waxay doorteen Sheekh Uweys. LABO KALA BARIDAY KALA WAR LA'

Duke, warkaan alleged-terrorka waxba ceeb qofka uma keeneysoin the eyes of somalis, focus on other issues like the clan takeover and stolen properties, these are far more potent and effective in damaging one's character and appeals to many when it comes to somalis. Qof muslinaa tahaye warkaan ka bax gaalada kasoo fulay. PS: Focus on the clan. And btw, check the above link.

Dhaqankaan waa animist practice foisted on somalis. They should abandon it and criminalize it period.

Socod-Badne, ra'yigaaga dhiibo nooh adigoo islaamka afka la gelin mar walbo. Stop engaging in deceptive hortatory appeals designed to incite people to question islam when the obvious screw-ups lie with the person abusing it or when they do what they do because they want to do it. Not a nice way to get back at islam if you disagree with it. Just leave it alone would you? Zakina The old man you spoke of lacked manners for saying that to your mother. That is just creating problem betwen wife and husband. PS: Nin kale guurso aan soomaali eheen, perhaps that should take care of your worries

Meeshaan cadaalad kama socoto ka waran hee.... Odaga lee aa wax laga sheegaayaaye aaway habartii gabadha dhashay? Islaamaha soomalida ma yareestaan laftirkooda. Aniga waxay ila tahay aabayaasha gabdhahooda inay aad u jecel yihiin badankood oo haddii hooyada dhahdo gabadha lama gudaayo warka meesha ku dhammaan lahaa. Aabbe kaliya dambi kuma lahan. Alla-Ubaahne camal ma sheegin, asaga waa iska caddahay inuu gudi lahaa gabadhiisa. Qalad ween waaye waxaas, dambi ween waaye qof bani'aadam korkiisa in loo jaro because the culture demands it. Wiilasha haa, that is a must and no question about that, but gabdhaha arrintooda wax faa'iido oo ay keeneeso ma jirto. lol@buuryo, marka horeeyba soomaalida magac xun u bixiyeen si looga taqaluso.

Alle-Ubaahne, sophist's concern is valid considering the history of religious movements and their different methodologies. It is just too early to worry about the courts fighting with each other due to ideological differences. The fact that they united under one banner despite their differences could be an indication of their maturity and their understanding that support from the average person depended and still depends on unity. I tend to worry about infighting in Xamar myself but not on religious grounds but on who should be the sole authority in that city. There are pockets still outside the courts jurisdiction and they wanted to bring those under them. If these pockets refuse to be incorporated, there could be a war. The warlords who lost left some road blocks in tact and the men manning those are being convinced to emulate their defeated masters and go. It is too difficult for some to give up a xaraam source on which they depended for so long. There is much work ahead to be done and possibly some conflicts may arise unless God says otherwise. Maf Kees I have no such information. And you are right about both men and your assessment about somalis in general struggling with clan loyalty including many somali who are very religious and secularly educated. You would see a doctor sitting obidiently listening to a carppy old somali man with no degree of any kind and obey him.
