We as a people never had any issues with the faith, and it blended perfectly with our heritage. We didn't lose our language like so many places around the world that totally has been taken over by the outsider figure -which ever it maybe. Our current problem is the new conquest by wahabis to dismantle every good aspect of our life, and replace it with religious dogma, so we can ever be followers, what a shame that this is being done by nobody else but people who claim to be Somalis. Spot on GD. We must unclench ourselves from the radicalism coming out of Saudi Arabia. We must go back to our own language and traditions. We are different people and as such carefully considerations need to be made when importing a new ideology. Nice, the re-invention of concepts of governance, the Somali experiment Originally posted by B: We need to have a true expression of Islam. The only way this could be found is through the use of Somali language in translating the Quran in Somali rather than Arabic. Why do we need an intermediary ( Arabic language) to pray to Allah? Why is it read and only accepted in Arabic. Because it says in Surat Yusuf: "Indeed, We have sent it down as an Arabic Qur'an that you might understand." Prayers must be said in Arabic because the Quran was revealed in that language. The use of Somali in prayers makes sense to me though, that it would be easier for people to understand what they are reading instead of mumbling words that mean nothing to them. Hence knowing their religion better. Originally posted by B: We need to find whatever existed in pre-Islamic Somalia and recreate/replicate it, at least there that was something 'our' ancestors created rather than being imported wholesale from different places from the world. I'm not sure if Somalis had a "3asr al jahiliyyah" like the Arabs but if we did then going back to pre-Islamic times would negate our Muslim identity wouldn't it? However, I think with 1300 years of Islam, we have created our own unique identity which was shattered in 1991 and replaced with something that is alien to us. Excellent ideas my friend. Glad to see that even an ardent secularist like you can see beyond all these imported ideals (your stance being induced by religion). We must go back to basic and denounce all foreign ideas. we need to create a new sense of nationhood based on Somali folk-lore and customs of our ancestors. The conquerors have taken away our sense of self and replaced and given us their own values and ideals. There is cultural genocide being committed in somalia by Islam. The last pockets of what remains of our customs should be protected. Islam calls for uniformity and wants a strict regiment of values, this is impossible to enforce, we are different people whose psyche has been hijacked by the hoarders who have come to our land and destroyed our way of life. We need to have a plurality-conscious society, where customs, religion and sociocultural values all have the same influence and weighing. Where emphasis is put on resorting the cultural origins of the people first before any foreign ideas are welcomed.
  3. A tsunami without nidab and principles will cause havoc. These western Govts are fully aware of their low birth rates, so they want all to assimilate. Its working. Numbers don't mean nothing my friend, its all about outlooks and lifestyles theses days.
  4. I want to ask a legitimate question. So before I am accused of being an atheist and insulted by the uninformed masses that populate this forum. I want to notify you all that I am a Muslim. So no allegations and insults please. What is the difference between the different ideologies that have tried to permeate Somalia? Whether it’s Islam or democracy. They are both foreign ideas and have been exported to Somalia from far places. Why are people over-zealous when it comes to Islam and denounce other ideologies especially democracy, communism etc… Even if we accept these ideas and values wholeheartedly, we need to reconfigure it to suit our needs and make it work for ‘us’ as opposed to the way it was used and practised in its place of origin. We are different people and as such carefully considerations need to be made when importing a new ideology. A study should be done, carefully and meticulously working out if it of any use to ‘us’. But when this was spread by the sword and through manipulative merchants, is it any wonder the people will accept without question. We have accepted Islam without question. Are we the so called ‘noble savage’, who lacks intellectuality and their own historical trajectories, I think not! We need to have a true expression of Islam. The only way this could be found is through the use of Somali language in translating the Quran in Somali rather than Arabic. Why do we need an intermediary ( Arabic language) to pray to Allah? Why is it read and only accepted in Arabic. If all languages are understood by Allah then all languages should be used in the prayer ritual. The believer should have direct access and there should be faith for all with easy access! I accept my intellectual/cultural heritage (Islam) not out of conviction because it was forced upon my ancestors. The coloniser was no different from the white colonisers seeking to expand it control and dominance. We need to find whatever existed in pre-Islamic Somalia and recreate/replicate it, at least there that was something 'our' ancestors created rather than being imported wholesale from different places from the world. In the words of Wangari Maathai - ‘People who are robbed of their heritage during occupation, enslavement and political and religious colonization become disorientated. They lose self-respect, the capacity for self-guidance, leadership and independent decision-making.’
  5. Islam wont take over Europe or America. Get real my friend! for every Muslim born there is 4 drug abusers and alcoholics (so called moderates who are loyal to their countries).

Legislative is law making. Running schools is an entirely thing all together. There are Jewish and Muslim schools, but they are not endorsed by the state, whereas C of E schools are supported by the state, but there is a trend to decrease the number of C of E supported schools as the country heads towards the grey abyss that is secularism. The C of E has no legislative role, the small number of clergy in the house of lords don't legislate acts, they merely debate it, even by then the House of Commons has the final say.
  15. No I will not rip but don't lose yourself time because without some certainty of evidence, you don't have a leg to stand on. this is silly now. are you calling me gay?
  16. no evidence = no allegation. slip us are your own imaginations and you intention to find faults in my posts. dig all you like.... dig deeper and deeper until you come into touch with 'marx'. I refute your silly allegations. I don't have time for silly games brov. so step aside. either send your condolences to the polish consulate or step out the thread and troll elsewhere.
  17. like most nonsensical people on somaliaonline, you are not the first person to accuse me of being this 'marx' person. and to call me crazy because my opinion doesn't fit with your world view. Do you have an evidence that I am 'marx' because if you do I would be very much interested to see how you came to such a conclusion. I am waiting my friend... spill the beans, as it were!
  18. What does the Indian aspect has to do with this. This is not a bollywood movie brov. so cut out the little injections of Indianess on your question... Indians are not in touch with reality. but when indira Gandhi was assassinated, I bet the world sent condolences.

Like when Rowan Williams in his speech called for sharia courts to have a place in the UK judicial system, this was dismissed outright and he quietly retreated back to his sanctuary lol. It is the established church but is a political construct that allows the country to function because of the anachronistic system of governance. C of E is not amenable to Judicial review.

Originally posted by Kashafa: B, Have you commented, even once, on the tens of thousands of human beings that lost their lives, and continue to lose their lives, courtesy of Her Royal Majesty's(along with UN, EU) financial support for Ethiopia, Amisom, and the Tigray Founded Gang ? Or is that too jarring a fact that may shatter the mental construct you have of yourself as a civilised newly-ilbax former qaxooti who cares about the suffering of others(mainly, whomever Western media deems fit to 'mourn' as the latest flavor of the month: Darfur) Kan oo kale aa biri intaa mardoof jaat ah la soo seeyo ku dahaayo: "Soomali baan ahay, wadan'ka arimiheesa wax hala iga seeyo waayo muwaatin baan ahay, fikradaydu xor baan uu ahay, power-sharing hala sameeyo oo waxaan rabaa shan wasaarad, gaar ahaan wasaarada bariiska, wasaarada baastada, iyo wasaarada jaatka & daruugada, hadee kale wadan'ka dhan aa holcinaa intaa moooriyaaan ilmo-adeer nahay soo kiraysado, oo Ethiopia funding ka soo qaato" And the funny thing ? Some maangaab folk will actually agree with him and say: "He's a Somali citizen. His voice must be represented, he deserves his share of the national pie. The Dowlada Midnimo Qaran has to represent all Somali constituencies, including the Graveworshipping Mushrik constituency, the Gaalo-raac Traitors-R-Us constituency, the Warlord constituency, and the "HRM Queen Elizabeth blessed us with Independence" constituency. This is what they taught me in Civics 101 at Hogwarts University, and thanks to that education, I am a highly advanced and civilised indivudual" Stop using ad hominem argument and come with something better. You have thus far failed in coming up with a solutions. The takfiirs can’t be trusted with power. They only know destruction and the butchering of people. The Ethiopians are not the enemies of the Somali people, instead of seeking productive and friendly diplomatic ties, your type is committed to their destruction which speaks volumes about your out-dated methods of governance. Your obsession about waging a jihadist war against Ethiopia has clouded your sense of direction. My friend, Islam is not as rigid as you would like to be. Islam is not set in stone, which means that apart from the divine sources like the Quran and the hadith, everything else is up for interpretation. Islamic law is a man made law, which means that it was arrived at from ijma of the scholars. There is no literal interpretation of Islamic law, hence why we have different school of thought. Also, we need to bear in mind that Islam has allowed flexibility in interpretation so that Islam remains a religion that adopts to its environment. Although many people have suggested that we should open the gates of ijtihad, I am not sure if this will improve the conditions of Muslims the world over. The very nature of Islamic law is flexible. So let’s not try to assume a righteous attitude because there is no literal interpretation of the Islamic law. This was arrived at on different interpretations of the different scholars. And also while you may suggest that there is ikhtilaf between the scholars, you might be interested to know that Islamic law is not set in stone. The best of followers of Islam are those who maintain a neutral line, by not following the two extreme spectrums. I pray you denounce your evil ideas and come to your senses.
