  1. am not part of so called something-land if that some thing-land means separation from somalia guraad, sxb you seem to have such a closed minded perception that you can't even get yourself to uter the name SOMALILAND. So I am guessing what I'm about to say to you will be in vain, but nevertheless I will say it. I agree with you alot of people in Sool have reservations about somaliland, but don't say they are ALL against somaliland. When I went to may 18 th celebrations in Toronto, there was man from las canood making a speech on somaliland out of his own free will. I know it will be an uphill battle to win the hearts of most the people of Sool, but we are gonna try nevertheless. Sool if I'm not mistaking was part of Somaliland when we orignaly gained independence in june 1960.
  2. zaylici, Do no worry about Somaliland, let them do their bussiness. every one has right for self determination, if northern Somalia deceided to seprerte it self from the rest, that is fine, but the self determination by the people of western SOmalia should not be paralyzed. amiin to that.
  3. Haystak, First of all sxb, ease up on the presumptions concerning somalilanders aight. many in the North say they will never rejoin a “GREATER SOMALIA” because the 500,000 they lost in 1988…However, they go on to say, if the capital city of a “GREATER SOMALIA” is Hargeysa…then all of a sudden 500,000 isn’t as much anymore…they say this …they say that…etc… You know its quite easy to make convincing arguments when you based them on your own presumption. TNG government had already proposed to make the capital of the next Somali state in Hargeisa, and yet you don’t see the people of Somaliland going to trade in their sovereignty. Now getting back to the idea of presumptions let me give you a few examples of my own. Suburban Nomad is 100% right when he talks about GREATER SOMALIA including Djibouti. If you ask southerners whether they respect Djibouti’s sovereignty they will reply “yes” ask the same for Somaliland and you might end up in a fight. I think many Southerners get sicken by the idea of Somaliland simply because they feel a peace of land that belongs to them (but really doesn’t), is being taken away. It is not out of love or brotherhood that they oppose Somaliland as they would like us to believe. Of course this doesn’t fit to all southerners but the greater majority I would have to say. Haystak saids: people ask themselves “how dare they claim to be independent of Somalia?” I can see where you coming from with that, since for the 28 yrs previous of 1991, Somalilanders had very little to do with their own self-rule and destiny. So hence the question how dare they claim to be self-determinant and reliant? Am I right? Or maybe its how dare they claim sovereignty over their own lands? Of course I might be mistaken with the above presumptions and so feel free to let me know if I am. Whatever the questions that arise in the minds of southerners, they must come to understand that each time they disrespect somalilanders rights to self-determination, they only fuel the fire of Somaliland nationalism. If southerners were serious about unification, the biggest step they could take towards that goal would be to respect the self-determination rights of somalilanders. That might sound contradictory in terms of geography, but it would certainly go very far in changing political mindsets. I will leave it to the Somalis ability of foresight to comprehend this concept. But let it be known that SOMALILANDERS will never relinquish sovereignty or their self-determination, come hell or high water.
  4. These pictures are all nice. But can someone please find a picture of a 2 story house or any building for that matter, in Hargeisa ???(those days)
  5. Samakab, Finally you show your true colours with all this hate you speak. You talk of ignorance and yet your last post is a perfect definition of the word. You can’t handle a civil discussion on politics in order to explain your own views, and so you resort to ignorant name-calling of qabiils. Faanoole, I wish you were sincere when you said idin ma rabno fact is we long have forgoten about the idea of uniting, but I wish I could say the same for the likes of yourself. p.s. Somaliland spans from Awdal to sool whether you like it or not.
  6. Concerning SARS, Lets not get carried away with all these theories. jamilah, your theory about too many cat-eaters is quite funny lol, however lets not get carried away with stereotypes. American media nowadays seems to have forgoten how to differentiate between prejudice, stereotype and factual news.
  7. Haruun, no I wasn't given out free t-shirts sxb, them ppl doing that were old. I was there with a few friends, we are all in our 20's.
  8. The marxuum done more for you than his cousins or as you know them "his ppl". and exactly what has the "marxuum" done for the likes of ayoub?
  9. Tiganaaaa!!!!!, exactly shujui how did I forget that name, yeah I see what you mean though.
  10. lol@ayoub, sxb nobody wanna see a somali man on the cover of a calendar, specialy a hairy one...he he. Ruba on the other hand would probably have the calendar sold out if she appeared on it
  11. I missed this post, But most definitely Zidane is the better of the two. Platini had the chance to get France their first world cup but failed, when Zidane succeeded in doing so, platini got very jealous. I think he feels Zidane has taken his place as the greatest french football icon of all time. I remember watching old tapes of France in international play and their was this black man who's name I forgot but legendary in his own right that kept feeding platini the ball. I think that man was greater then platini himself.

  13. waraa 44 caliber killa, look like the spurs are already in trouble my friend and so are your pistons...he he. That'll teach them to beat the 6ers
  14. Angel-dust, There were a few people going around with money boxes to donate to the hargeisa hospital, however we lacked the experience and organisation of you landers in London. Lakiin, nshallah next year we will improve since this celebration is only a couple of years in the making here in Toronto.
  15. Ayoub, first of all happy 18th, I was busy celebrating too. Secondly I missed your reply that nailed it right on the head concerning these arguments brought about countless times by Hornafrique. Jealousy is quite the divisive disease amongst our peoples, but remember "It is better to be envied than pitied."Herodotus
  16. Hornafrique, Sxb don't be quick to judge me based on my name and avitar, I know some in this forum already do that but I gave you more credit and thought you would understand where I'm coming from concerning the habashis vs. Somalis (general) argument.
  17. Baashi, Sxb don’t you think this is getting a little old? You always bring up these topics, pretending you wanna play intellectual hardball and yet when the heat comes from people like gaashaamo, you duck and get very defensive.
  18. Gaashaamo, Brilliantly written peace sxb. However, I doubt many of the intended subjects of your reply would comprehend your clever messages. I wonder why hibo was so quick to apologize after spitting all that venom? Ahh…who knows anyway Happy 18 th to all
  19. Those of you who attended may 18th celebrations in your respective cities, share your thoughts on the event right here. I spent mine in Toronto were they had the celebration in Scarborough. Overall I would say it was a nice party except for a little lack of organisation. We could a used a bigger hall and the organisers could a been a little better prepared. But the number of people that showed up was impressive. Feel free to share your own experience Landers, no matter your location in the world.
  20. Yusuf, Sounds like you have a noble plan. What I don't get is wheter your looking for a stable region of somali territories or one that is unstable and ruled by war lords.
  21. thanks for the article Gashaamo, it was a refreshing look back in history...
  22. Sounds like a good plan CHE....keep up your realistic and open minded analogies
  23. Peace be upon the brother, As I was told in my youth when some of my relatives passed away, we should not be saden by the death of God fearing muslim, as Allah has better plans for them. Paradise "Believers will find whatever their hearts desire." (Quran 37:43) "Those [in Paradise] will be honored in gardens of Bliss facing one another on couches. A cup will be passed around for them from a clear-flowing fountain, delicious to those who taste it. There will be no hangover from it nor will they feel exhausted by it." (Quran 37:43) If Allah wills it, this is a small fragment of what awaits our fallen brother. Cheer up nomads
  24. I see the two of you are going in circles, Hornafrique, I have to say you are obsessed with the habashis. But Ayoub has got a point, habashis have their own problems (i.e. starvation and land locked) and Somaliland has its own problems. Despite the fact you think habashis are not dependent on Somaliland, you are wrong. Berbera is a big port with much cheaper prices then both Djibouti and Asmara. But anyway I’m not gonna get back to an old argument, my point is that the relationship is mutually beneficial. So before criticising Somaliland, why don’t you worry about the rest of Somalis who lack peace and unity, and also the cowardly government in Djibouti who is allowing a huge US military base to be built there. If anything, these last factors will better facilitate the infaltration of foreign powers in Somali territories. I say this cause I presume you’re a tactical man Hornafrique. Case point, Somalis are their own worst enemies and we need to stop looking elsewhere for our problems and look in the mirror.
  25. First of all, Good luck to the TNG (part 2) Yusufaddie, Sxb I share your outlook on divin law being far superior to anything made by man, however I also feel Islamic law and democracy can be compatible. Maybe you can share your knowledge on Sharia law with us because my own knowledge in that area is limited. Bari_Nomad First of all, the major tribal militas were abolished when Somaliland was created. So therefore they did not have power in government. If the TNG really wants to follow the example of Somaliland, that’s what should be done. Secondly I find it amusing how you and some others hesitate to use the name of the nation of SOMALILAND, you feel more confortable saying north west Somalia or Waqoyii Galbeed. A true sign of non-tolerance.
