Che, saxiib Security would be categorized as a social issue, and I agree that tackling other social problems is as important as security but nevertheless we have many enemies out there. This latest incident is proof initself. Now where you get the idea that we are slandering all somalis is a bit of mystery to me. Several factions have come up in the discussions of whom might have been behind these attacks, no substancial evidence to confirm any of them yet. Like I said before, we have a right to identify our enemies whom ever they might turn out to be. One minister accused A/qasim and the TNG, Which is not far fetched given that the perpetrators have been identified has having left from Xamar. The accused men claim they are al-itixad and they claim they were simply looking to kill foreigners but that obviously doesn't hold much water. Therefore any of the factions previously mentioned could still be suspect. One last point,I expected more from you given that you know full well the diverse qabiils that reside in Somaliland. I guess you have fallen into the trap of misinformation set by those who would like to minimize the status of Somaliland.

Very Flawed comparison -Eritrea never was an internationally recognize nation until 93 when they came to agreement with the Ethiopian government. In contrast Somaliland entered in a voluntary Union 4days after it gained its own international sovereignty. Minor detail you forgot to mention right? Eritrea once was a colony but never a recognized independant nation that is until 1993, meanwhile Somaliland was a legal entity recognized by over 30 other nations june26-july1st 1960. Yasmine, You do tend to write with a little too much emotion, this is not a contest of who can come up with snappy lines in order to belittle the opposition, if that was the case, Somalilanders would have lost long ago. Instead this is more about reasoning and realism, some traits the somaliweyn camp lack very much. We stay focused as Somalilanders with our reality on the ground, meanwhile our detractors preoccupy themselves with writing long and allustrious tales full of emotion, misinformation, simplistic views and little substance. If you try reasoning with these folks you will find yourself repeating the same points you've probably mentioned an infinite amount of times which is an obvious waste of time. But feel free to find out for yourself.

I don't believe in such things as God blessing one land over another, the first statement would probably be more accurate in that Allah presents challenges at times to his people. Take for example my country of residence here in the great North. Canada is abundant in ressources but the climate can be very harsh. In fact it is so harsh that if Canada where a third world country it would be almost impossible to inhabit this land in great numbers. The climate and the living conditions would be almost impossible to beare. Instead this country is one of the most develloped in the world and probably has the highest living standard. I don't see why the Somali lands wouldn't be able to achieve as much; now of course we can't get ahead of ourselves as history plays a significant role in these matters and most of the third world was forced to play the hand they were dealt. Nevertheless, by belief is that God helps those who help themselves.

Addis Ababa Fears are mounting for the welfare of thousands of internally displaced persons (IDPs) in eastern Ethiopia, the United Nations warned on Friday. Disease, lack of food and dwindling water supplies are hitting the IDPs, the UN said in a special alert. "There is a need to respond with timely assistance in order to prevent the situation from deteriorating further," said the joint statement issued by the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) and the government of the Somali National Regional State (SNRS). "It is necessary to speed up reintegration efforts from these areas and to secure the return of the IDPs to their areas of origin." The UN aims to quickly "reintegrate" the IDP families into their original communities and provide transport and medical support to get them home. It is appealing for an immediate sum of US $180,000 to provide support for the IDPs, many of whom are Ethiopians who have come in from neighbouring Djibouti and Somaliland. The statement issued on Thursday, said conditions in Fafen and *****shek, the two man camps where the IDPs are gathering, were worsening as food and water were running out. In one area, 7,000 people who had not received water for three months were "placing an additional burden on the limited existing resources", it noted. "Food allocations to the camps are resented by the local population, who are no longer included in general food distribution," it said of Fafen camp. In *****shek, the statement added, the town had been hit by a "serious economic decline" affecting local people, and the arrival of thousands of IDPs was fuelling tension. A total of 15,000 IDPs in the camps were facing a "deteriorating situation" and the UN and the SNRS intended to "return and reintegrate" 6,000 of them immediately, the statement said. Relevant Links East Africa Ethiopia Refugees and Displacement "In both these camps the only viable alternative is to move the IDPs back to their areas of origin where they can be incorporated within wider processes of regional development within their home communities," it added. "The current situation necessitates a timely and well-coordinated response from concerned partners." In Ethiopia there are about 200,000 IDPs displaced by war, famine and drought, many of them women and children. Along the disputed 1,000-km border with Eritrea, some 76,000 IDPs have for various reasons remained unable to go home, often because their areas of origin are contaminated by landmines and unexploded ordnance.

Yo lazye girl I didn't talk about the pacers, cause I don't particularly like the pacers, I expect them to go far cause they have a solid team. I ain't a fan of Artest and New Jers I don't like either. Did y'all see how happy New jers was happy to score 70 against the pistons? Kenyon is a joke tryin to step up to sheed. Pistons gonna have indiana and New jers for lunch come play off time. Indiana will be a little tougher but New jers is not goin to the finals again believe me.

Qudhac is this an article, where did you find these news? Whatever the details of this incident it is quite clear there are some forces out there trying to destabalize Somaliland. All the details have to be learnt on this matter, I thought Riiyaale being an ex-NSS man would at least be good at that. CHE, I'm not sure what your talking about and who is demonizing who, "Somali galbeed"? who do you refer to? All you have to do is look around at the various post that are put out there, its either some non-somalilander, puntlander or whatever else, talking left and right about anything associated with Somaliland or its some young Somalilanders rebuke these statements. You will not find too many post from a Somalilander dealing with internal somali issues as you might find in the preceding scenario. We are not trying to "demonize" anybody or group, we have right to discuss the internal security of our country and any enemies that might try to destabalize our nation. I don't care if they are ONLF, former-SSDF, relics of Barre, Al-itixad etc...It is important that we identify these enemies first than work on preventative measures within the borders. If any of them are caught they should be dealt the most severe of punishments under the law. That is another reason I emphasize military growth, expanding military capability should be a priority. We've done a half decent job so far, given the arms embargo but with recognition that would all change. We wouldn't have to deal with the Ethiopians who also arm our enemies on a smaller scale, instead we could take our business elsewhere and negociate for pricing.

I wonder what all these deportations will do to the internal security of Somaliland, already there has been another incident with the german NGO worker killed. An influx of people who are not native or known to dwell the area could lead to instability. Libaax what is your take on this?

-I like the 6ers, but lets face Lazie girl they ain't goin no where. Sixers depend souly on Iverson, and he's a little banged up right now and his supporting cast don't look too good with the injuries to big dog and everythang. -Knicks- are my favorite team, but Marbury is taking too many shots he need to dish more to my main man HOUSTON. They have the potential to be explosive but with all the new players, I dont know if they can "GEL" in time for playoffs. -Pistons-If I had to bet on a team from the east it would be this 1. They got all the tools in place, two shot blocking big men with one (R.wallace) who can score at will. Solid back court who can put up points quickly. Once they meet a team from the west in the finals, don't know how they'll fare. Specially with San antonio, L.A, Sacramento.

Mobb, you look good in the tri-color man. Your a Sanaag native if I remember, or was that your grand father? either way if your a SS&H native you are as much of a Somalilander as the rest no matter what the situation might be in some of the border regions. I honestly believe we are approaching an important juncture in somali history. Those of us who have stayed impartial thus far in somali politics, will soon find themselves on one side or the other in the political spectrum. That being said I sincerely believe that a little decades from now, what sides we were on and the reasons for our choice will be probably forgotten. A Somalilander will only be known as that, a Somalilander. Not xebaal from tribe x,y or z or region of Sool, Sanaag, Hargeisa etc.. If we are too look even further in the future, who knows we might even manage to have some sort of allegiance between Somali Nations and Regions that would allow co-operation in many different fronts. A legitimate regional alliance that would capture the true essence of "somalinimo". Ahh but lets not get ahead of ourselves shall we. -
impressive... If that is naturally achieved with ordinary supplements like protein it is very impressive. There is hope for the skinny somali after all lakiin, if he is injecting himself with them fluids that drive certain hormons(testastorone etc..) like the professionals due. If that is the case, y'all know the sideaffects to that right...let just say his girl wouldn't appreciate it.

It is obvious Djibouti has a problem with corruption and imcompetent governance. It is being exploited by americans for their own benefit, and you will find me most critical of Guelle. However with that being said, there is a clear distinction between the people of Djibouti and their government, some ignorant somalis often forget that djibouti is 2/3 somali, therefore the people residing there are somali just like those of you who come from Somaliland or Somalia. Being born and raised in Djibouti I can tell you from personnal experience there are alot of good folks from there and the people are often hospitable and kind. The problem I see with criticism coming from some of you is that you are mostly oblivious and ignorant of Djibouti, most of you have never been there or live there. You only know of Djibouti by here say "the reer djibouti think they are better... they think they are not somalis"...etc. If you've lived and you grew up in Mogadishu or some other distant city what do you honestly know about life in Djibouti? Let me tell you Djibouti is a unique place and the people who come from Djibouti, even though being somali, are distinct simply because of the culture that exist overthere. The land is beautifull, a litte hot and dry , the beaches are gorgeous. Ahhh......I remember fridays in Djibouti when we would head to the beach, so many things to do, snorkling, collecting star fish, scubba diving, wind surfing (for the rich). After that you head home with the bitter taste of salt in your mouth and you eat BARIIS and caano . Those where the days. I encourage those of you who are talkin about things they don't know to learn more about djibouti, APRENEZ LA LANGUE S'IL LE FAUT, MERDES!!, (learn the language if you like ) visit the damn country if you must, but until than stop the IGNORANCE.

I'm glad to see the effects of this little move I initiated, hope the rest of you keep spreading the word to the rest of LANDERS on this site as you can imagine it is a little too time consuming to private msg all of you so don't be offended if you didn't hear about it but good initiative SPADEZ on starting this thread. I wanna send a shout out to my friend Barwaaqo a.k.a DnD here in public to change her avitar too, "Yeah...I'm callin you out and kinda twistin your arm a little " I also wanna reach out to the moderators who are S-landers to join us in this small show of solidarity. It is only for a month I'm sure your impartiality will not be questioned. -
qudhac saxiib why do you preoccupy yourself with the blind hatred coming from these people, it `is their day job to be preoccupying with the dealings of Somaliland. We are known for action and focus on our own, we don't care what the others do that is at the heart of modern day Somaliland. You can't waste your time going tit for tat with these detractors, because if you do it plays right into their hands as your focus is no longer on bettering your nation but rather countering the detractors at every turn. Let them talk all they want, we shall act instead since actions speak louder than words.

Rahima, I'm glad to see you finally realize the hypocracy of some of these pratrons. I feel you're one of the few members who doesn't use the term somalinimo in vain, unfortunately you are clearly outnumbered by those who are immersed in this political "game" and are blinded by tribal hatred. Originally posted by Samurai Warrior: Gediid – Besides the juvenile mantra, do you care to dig deeper and perhaps challenge the intellect? And what is it that is going for western Somaliland, or any other that is not going for Puntland? Care to strike an anomaly, or better yet have an Einstein moment laddy? This is quite entertaining, the man is a self-declared intellect. Please tell us how you differ from this "juvenile mantra" you allude to? look at the second part of your post, you act exactly the same way as the "juveniles" your refer to. You can't help but to constantly compare your area to Somaliland and try to proove that your region is supposedly "superior" to ours. Your age and your abillity to write over-saturated english does not necessarilly make you an intellect or somehow different from the young men you try to differentiate yourself from.

Rebirth Under The Acacia Tree BY SAID OMAR MOUSSA It was an hour, an hour of truth It was a day, a day usurped by the beast It is a time, a time of rebirth. In the heyday of hope in a youthful jest I answered a yearn for a beautiful dream. And..... Wanton field of thorn and weed, The air was pregnant with sour seed Dark clouds of menace were swooping down, Togdheer was bursting with bitter hue Rain of fire dawned on the fleeing, Under the acacia tree Hargeysa was seething You shed my blood with meaningful ease, Contempt you showed for my solemn plea Surreal, we fondly embrace the dead, And held high their lifeless head Wrapped in this moment of clarity, Illusion dissipated, Bitter bright sky came here to stay. Rinsed away my shame with thy blood, Oh! sweet blood it was indeed And now my bride is liberty, I say no! To jest and youthful folly Scorned sacrifice and soiled gift, No more will I give, that which I cannot give Heed not son, the hissing serpent, Draped in a splendid shawl of deceit Seduce not, by a wished for crown, Walk only on the here and now. The beast was slain under the Acacia tree The beast is dead! Long live the free! Striped of facade and falsity, Our bond were long soiled by cruelty Look, how you pine for lordship over me, Yet, you counsel the virtue of brotherhood to me And now that your brute failed to subdue me, By your pitiful lot you want to entrap me Look, how you still nurse a fruitless conquest, Thus you fashioned Arta in the beast likeness You fan the flame of false glory, And then decry your utter misery. Scorned sacrifice and soiled gift, No more will I give that which I cannot give. How dare you sing sweet song to me Saying come in love, come in faith, Come into this dungeon of despair Come in shame, come in guilt, Bring thy shackles to the fair Come by fear, come with tear, Come back to the burning bosom, dear. Hebo is mine, Hebo is me, I will turn this ruin into a field of dream I sigh with joy for what I have seen, For death ceased to walk amidst the youth Thus, graveyards turned to a blooming green, And blushing roses smiled with soothe Old men reflect under the acacia Tree, High there, Nomad relishes their valor with glee Enchanted maiden swirl and swoon, Lovers croon under the waning moon Hoden is fair, Hoden is Fierce, By Allah's mercy I will own my fate. O Heart! Fear not, the serpent fury, O Heart! Grief not, for the slain beast O Heart! be grateful and rejoice in thy grace, O Heart! be merry and pray for thy soul And say nay to forlorn! And say nay to doubt! Take back your mantle under the acacia tree. By Said Omar Moussa sayiedmou@yahoo.com
