Admittedly it does represent a hint of nepotism, but if the son is qualified as owner of Radio Garowe and Garoweonline media I do not see why he should be denied on account of blood relations. My contention with this is the nature of the title itself. A spokesman and minister of information is one thing but what exactly is an adviser on the media and why choose a favorable media personality to advise you on the rest of the media (presumably the opposition)? There is an ethics issue involved here.

Faroole's speech in Minnesota in every way hinted his desire to use Puntland governorship as a stepping stone to Somali presidency, following of course Abdullahi Yusuf's decades long footsteps. If he still harbors this desire I must say he has dropped the ball with respect to the "political face" he desired to represent in that speech.

This is really bad PR for Puntland State. Awoowe it is better to bring the people to your side rather than use blackmail and heavy handedness. Faroole has made Puntland's administration to be vain and pompous since taking office and you win no one to your side by turning your partners off to that degree. Granted Puntland has built itself peace and relative stability but it has never been and is not now going to start being the concentration of Somalia's power. That area is the south and particularly the Benadir region. Faroole needs to rethink the strategy he has been pursuing because it seems he is isolating Puntland. The public rebuke given by the TFG is only a consequence of that il-advised strategy.

This is the same man that hinted his next step was the Somali presidency using Puntland premier as a base. Someone should tell him majority of Somalia do not support his views. Also, both Cabdullahi Yusuf and Cadde Muuse and indeed all the leaders of Puntland and Somaliland are close to Ethiopia but what is making Faroole go farther than any of the other pro-Ethiopia members by calling some Somali-speaking natives "non-Somali"? Has Faroole been analyzed as a particularly weak man and facing undue pressure from Zenewi and his hordes?

Your V.P is legitimizing his position as a pawn, not separate from all other pawns in the former Somali Republic that take their orders from Meles.

Ethiopia is not your ally, you would not be unrecognized if you had an ally. You have a relationship definitely, but it is not one of allies. It is the same one it has with Puntland and the warlords of the south and anyone else who represents the fragmentation and the lost of central authority in Somalia. Try another equation.
