Abdi Bile didn't win at the Olympics. He won it at the this comeption in Rome.

As a seperate race then the two you are disputed between. and this too. First of all Somalis do not considers themselves Arabs nor are they Arabs. People mistake Somalia's political membership in the Arab League and the race of its citizens. And yet, Somalis cannot be racially "African", as it's not a race, but a classification by continent. Theresa Heinz Kerry calls herself an African-American, because her country of birth, Mozambique, is in Africa. Snow how come the Confederate States of America are not taking part in the Olympics? Like the CSA, "Puntland" and "Somaliland" aren't taking part and won't ever be taking part, because they do not and will not exist as a seperate entity from the Somali Republic. Besides if I say so myself that man carrying the Somali calan represented us honorably.

Is Somalia better off without a central government? I think the answer varies with eah individual, but sister i do not think so. Sure we have a private sector thats booming, but thats because we have always had an entrepreneurial spirit about us. Imagine the posibilities that can arise from that if businessmen didn't have to pay exorbitant "security" rates to marauding militiamen. Imagine what can arise if those "security" rates were used as taxes to the country for the development and betterment of the nation and its people. Imagine what can arise from that if businessmen can trade goods in and out of the country. Imagine what can arise from that if businessmen can travel and sell goods freely within the country. A central government is a must sister. Again the answer varies with each individual if he/she favors a central or federal government, but we cannot take this beating anymore. It is an insult to the people living in Somalia, who voice their aspirations for a Somali government in a more then a loud voice, if we in the qurbo now of all times question the validity of a government. Somalia yearns for a place in the world. When our president can proudly meet other presidents. When our dust coating seats in international organizations can be filled. When this qabil hatred and violence can be ended once and for all. When we strive for a united and prosperous Somali cause. When we are admired and respected in the world with the mentioning of our Somali ethnicity and heritage. When we can finally make a difference in the world, not just ourselves. When our kids can go to school and sit for a national curriculum with a government approved teacher. When our mothers can finally rest, because all our fathers are dead from a idiotic and pointless war. Some people wonder why I support ANY Somali so-called president that comes out of a reconciliation conference. The truth of the matter is, it is not the person coming out as the leader that matters to me, but the act of putting back the state together so that it can lead to a united and wonderful cause. Waa inuu istaago isnaceebka aan macnaha laheen iyo isaruufka aan meel gaarsanayn. Ilaahay meel na gaarsii. We have wept too much. We have bled too much. We have dreamt too much. Support this endeavor. Support this peace conference.

Snow whoever mentioned Japan, and believe me NO ONE can match the intelligence of the Somali race. Richard Burton said in the 1800's he came upon Somali nomads huddled together in the desert talking about the war in Russia. We are just too idiotic to realize and take advantage of our full potential. Potential that is unmatched I might add. Where do you come off with being so cynical and antagonistic? Are you even Somali? War nin ajnabi ah ayaa nagu dhex jidho. And Modesty yes sis I do believe that Saddam was the quintessential "bad guy", but the United States had no right to to barge on the sovereignty and territorial integerity of an independent nation and police it as if it was another state in the US.

By Kevin Smith Updated: 1:23 p.m. ET Aug. 6, 2004 DUBLIN, Ireland - Atlantis, the legendary island nation over whose existence controversy has raged for thousands of years, was actually Ireland, according to a new theory by a Swedish scientist. Atlantis, the Greek philosopher Plato wrote in 360 B.C., was an island in the Atlantic Ocean where an advanced civilization developed 11,500 years ago until it was hit by a cataclysmic natural disaster and sank beneath the waves. Geographer Ulf Erlingsson, whose book explaining his theory will be published next month, says the measurements, geography and landscape of Atlantis as described by Plato match Ireland almost exactly. “I am amazed no one has come up with this before, it’s incredible,†he told Reuters. “Just like Atlantis, Ireland is 300 miles long, 200 miles wide, and widest across the middle. They both have a central plain surrounded by mountains. I’ve looked at geographical data from the rest of the world and of the 50 largest islands there is only one that has a plain in the middle — Ireland.†Sinking of North Sea shoal Erlingsson believes the idea that Atlantis sank came from the fate of Dogger Bank, an isolated shoal in the North Sea, about 60 miles (100 kilometers) off the northeastern coast of England, which sank after being hit by a huge flood wave around 6,100 B.C. “I suspect that myth came from Ireland and it derives from Dogger Bank. I think the memory of Dogger Bank was probably preserved in Ireland for around 3,000 years and became mixed up with the story of Atlantis,†he said. Erlingsson links the boundaries of the Atlantic Empire, as outlined by Plato, with the geographic distribution of megalithic monuments in Europe and Northern Africa, matching Atlantis’ temples with well-known burial sites at Newgrange and Knowth, north of Dublin, which predate the pyramids. Could Plato have known? His book, “Atlantis From a Geographer’s Perspective: Mapping the Fairy Land,†calculates the probability Plato would have had access to geographical data about Ireland as 99.98 percent. Previous theories about Atlantis have suggested it may have been around the Azores Islands, 900 miles (1,440 kilometers) west of the Portuguese coast, or in the Aegean Sea. Others locate it solely in Plato's imagination.

Nugaali you have a good point there. Islam is a way of life, hence it is an Islamic way of life or another. Islam accommodates a lot of "secular" beliefs and themes, i.e democracy, because it is part of our religion, part of Islam. Now Nuriddin, whom I have no problems with, is against Arabic being taught in Bilad as Somal. We need to remember that Somali is a language of the world, and Arabic is a language of paradise. We must keep, learn, and strengthen our Somali language, yet we must make the greatest effort to learn Arabic to fully understand our religion's original message.

One of the best movies I have watched all year. I don't know if it's with the tide of the moment, but it was very amusing. He has made me laugh more then feel afraid about the hidden agendas of the Bush administration.

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Federal authorities said Monday that they have charged a man from Somalia with plotting to blow up a Columbus-area shopping mall. According to the FBI, Nuradin M. Abdi (pictured, left), a 32-year-old Somali national, was indicted and charged with conspiracy to provide material support to terrorists, conspiracy to provide material support to al-Qaida, and two counts of fraud and misuse of government documents. "We have taken steps in the Columbus area to mitigate this threat," Attorney General John Ashcroft said. "We believe the activities of local law enforcement, together with federal authorities, have addressed this matter comprehensively and successfully. This is not to say there couldn't be other threats or other circumstances." Ashcroft (pictured, below right) said that in March 2000, Abdi re-entered the United States from Africa, using a fraudulent immigration document. According to the FBI, one of his co-conspirators was Iyman Faris, a convicted al-Qaida operative, who picked him up from an airport. Upon their return to the Columbus area, Abdi, Faris, and other co-conspirators, allegedly initiated a plot to blow up a Columbus-area shopping mall. It is also alleged that in pursuit of this plot, Abdi received bomb-making training from one of the co-conspirators. Authorities did not immediately say which mall was being targeted. "We had no indication of a specific mall," FBI special agent Kevin R. Brock said. "As the investigation uncovered, there was a threat to blow up a shopping mall. There can be a presumption, perhaps, because the conspirators were in our area, that they were looking at malls in our area, but we don't have that specificity. Our investigation proceeded without limiting it to any specific mall." The indictment alleges that on April 27, 1999, Abdi applied to immigration officials for a travel document, allowing him to leave the United States and later return. Abdi indicated in the application that he intended to visit Germany and Saudi Arabia. The FBI alleges that Abdi's true destination was to attend a military-style terrorist training camp in Ethiopia. According to a detention motion, Abdi sought training in radio usage, weapons, guerilla warfare and explosives. The FBI stated in a detention motion that Abdi's purpose in seeking training was to ready himself to participate in violent Jihad conflicts overseas and to lend support to activities that his al-Qaida co-conspirators might ask him to perform in the United States. Abdi was arrested early in the morning on Nov. 28, 2003 -- the day after Thanksgiving. That day is normally the biggest shopping day of the year. "This plot was foiled while still in the planning stages," said Bill Hunt of the U.S. Attorney's Office. Abdi did not have a lawyer in court Monday afternoon during his arraignment, NewsChannel 4's Nancy Burton reported. Abdi acted strange in court, as he used jerky head movements and at one point the judge asked him to speak up because he couldn't hear him, Burton reported. Abdi's head actually dropped down to the glass table top at one point during the proceedings, Burton reported. "Current, credible intelligence indicated that al-Qaida wants to hit the United States, and hit the United States hard," Ashcroft said. "We know our enemy will go to great lengths to lie in wait, and achieve the death and destruction they desire, if at all possible." In March, NewsChannel 4 reported that Abdi was ordered deported and was accused of lying on his asylum application. His case was marked by security and secrecy, NewsChannel 4 reported. Federal officials told the Detroit Free Press they believed Abdi was linked to a terrorist plot. Abdi's cousin, Asha Yassin Hassan, said that Abdi was targeted because he is a Muslim. NewsChannel 4's Monique Ming Laven reported that Abdi lived in the Columbus area for at least six years. He is married to a woman who has a United States visa. Two of his children are U.S. citizens and a third child is reportedly on the way. Abdi's last known address in Columbus was an apartment on Tamarack Road. Laven reported that Abdi owned a cellular phone store in Columbus. In October 2003, NewsChannel 4 reported that Faris was sentenced to 20 years in prison for aiding and abetting terrorism, plus five years for conspiracy. Although he is alleged to have investigated the possibility of using a gas cutter to burn through the Brooklyn Bridge's suspension cables, Faris ultimately recommended through e-mail messages to his contacts against pursuing that option, which he described as "unlikely to succeed." Authorities said Faris received attack instructions from top terrorist leader Khalid Shaikh Mohammed for what they suggested might have been a second wave planned for New York and Washington to follow the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. Faris was born in Pakistan and became a U.S. citizen in 1999. Since his arrival in the United States in 1994, his primary occupation has been truck driver. Faris, who lived in Columbus, working as a trucker, also has used the name Mohammad Rauf. Faris' last-known Columbus address was at an apartment complex on Riverview Drive, NewsChannel 4 reported. Last week, the terrorism task force searched an apartment complex on Riverview Drive, but it was unclear as to whether last week's search had anything to do with information that led to Monday's indictment of Abdi. "I am pleased that the efforts of local, state and national law enforcement officials through the Joint Terrorism Task Force worked together to prevent what could have been a terrible act of terrorism," Gov. Bob Taft said in a statement. "We pledge to continue to do everything in our power to fight terrorism and deter those who seek to do us harm."

My parents had a Romeo & Juliet kind of episode, except no got hurt thankfully. My parents come from two of the most respected and famous families in central Somalia. It was in that, that the two sides of my family were rivals, just like the Montagues and Capulets. And when I say the two heads of the families, my grandfathers, were arch-enemies and deadly foes, I mean were arch-enemies and deadly foes! My mom is one of the most beautiful women you will ever see in your life, and believe me when I say that I'm not just aying it because she's mom, but it's a fact. When Iman made Somalia famous, my mom was approached more then once to model for Italian and American firms. My mother however declined. Anyways my father was a handsome enterprising businessman with several degrees when he first laid eyes on my mom as an adult. My parents were both in their early twenties and so they fell in love. My mom's father approved of a wedding, partly because he loved my mother more then his whole life, but her mom disapproved. My father's mother approved of a wedding, but his dad instead of just disapproving it threatened to disrupt it. Whoa am I writing a whole thesis on it? Anyways my parents couldn't get married in Muqdisho, because of my grandfather, and couldn't get married in my family's non-city residence, because of my fathers relatives. So they married in Galkacyo, with my grandmother (father's mom), grandfather (mother's dad), and other consenting family members in attendence. Immediately after the wedding, they went for a month long trip to Italy only to come to Muqdisho airport with my grandfather (father's dad) waiting for them at the airport. It was at that, that my grandfather took my mom, two chairs and sat them at the tarmac. My grandfather asked her how she, the offspring of his sworn enemy, had happened to snare his son. My mother answered with a witty reply and is so obvious of her, charmed him. After they were done talking, my grandfather kissed her, took her to my dad and said "Son had I seen her before you, I would gladly have married her." I'm not a great lover of romance and other such, but I believe my parent's story to be the greatest love story of all.

# 5 - THE NONCONFORMIST = 5's are the explorers. Their natural curiosity, risk taking, and enthusiasm often land them in hot water. They need diversity, and don't like to be stuck in a rut. The whole world is their school and they see a learning possibility in every situation. The questions never stop. They are well advised to look before they take action and make sure they have all the facts before jumping to conclusions. Famous 5's Abraham Lincoln, Charlotte Bronte, Jessica Walter,Vincent Van Gogh, Bette Midler, Helen Keller and Mark Hamil. Damn thats me to the bone, except the risk taking part. I always get the fact before i rush to anything.
