Bal dhagahaada dhankaan u soo jeedi for a second, Gen Maxamed Saciid Hersi "Morgan" Kismaayo lagama xigo lagamana haysto haduu doonayo inuu yimaado, HOWEVER it is most definetely not the 1990's anymore.
  2. Which brings me back to my question, maxaad un maqashay?
  3. I'm just wondering if the Admin has gone on a new cafis program
  4. ^I fell for it didn't I? Baashi, adeerow you have a habit of purposely dragging me into debates. As for your question; the funny thing is waxba lama dhihin.Except for incidents in the Gedo-Kenya border and districts in Bay, the country is at a stalemate. The only question is maxaad un maqashay?
  5. Calm As Somali Clans End Rivalry The East African Standard (Nairobi) August 23, 2005 Posted to the web August 22, 2005 Adow Jubat Nairobi Some of 30,000 families displaced in a recent clash between two rival Somali clans started returning home following a peace agreement at the weekend. The groups, mainly children and women, had camped at Kutulo, Borehole 11 and Elwak for the last three weeks after fleeing from a bloody clash that left more than 150 people dead. Carrying worn out mattresses, sleeping mats and other household items, they trekked the six-kilometre journey singing songs of praise for the Kenyan government which brokered the peace deal after hosting the rival Marihan and Gare militia in Kenyan border town of Elwak. The returning of the refugees comes barely five days after two ministers from the interim Somali government led a pull-out of over 5000 heavily armed Marihan militia men from the contested Burhache border town. The ministers, Bare Hirale of National Reconstruction and Resettlement and Mohammed Sayyid of National Assets and Procurement, facilitated the move as agreed at a reconciliation meeting chaired by Mandera DC Kimani Waweru. The Militia from the Marihan pulled out of Burhache, which they captured from their rival militia three weeks ago, in a convoy of 15 armoured cars at 10.30am on Friday. And for the first time since the clashes begun five months ago, the rival clan elders negotiating for a peaceful co-existence held their meeting inside the war-ravaged town. Waweru urged them to respect the resolution to avert further bloodshed and displacement of innocent people. Source
  6. Is it true the Barre of the South and Geddo boys are playing ball and contemplating peace among them so they can fend off the intentions of Bu'aale folks to declare a region of their own under auspices of Geedi? Ridiculous Baashi and even you know it.
  7. Besbaaso disregard my post sis. It was ment for a few individuals anyways Sky, the Ceel-Gaab marketplace in Xamar was named for the city Ceel-Gaab.
  8. ^^Really? Now what someone would consider "weird" pertains to an individual, but you generalizing the people of the city can only mean one thing, especially since the city has a tribal connotation to it. Columbus is a disgrace What part of Columbus have you been to Sky? BTW Ceel-Gaab is a city on the Ethiopian side of the border, and along with the Galgadud cities of Cabudwaq and Balanballe, is unofficialyl called the Tri-Cities. Sore azz haters. Why not just say thank you to who ever was responsible for this instead of all this BS.Whether its a flea market or mall isnt the issue here and I would think you would remember before you write some dumb remark like the ones above Somalis are relatively new to this nation(all or most having come here as refugees with lil or no money in their pockets) and this after only a short stay here, surely this is a sign of better and greater things to come in the future. Today its the Global mall tommorrow who knows.......... Gediid their unnecessary remarks are based on something..veiled. Anyways last time I was in Columbus, they were just in building phase and I sure as heck didn't think it would turn out so good. So kudos to them.
  9. Somali president rules out disarmament by force By William Maclean NAIROBI (Reuters) - Somalia's president vowed on Sunday to use persuasion rather than force to disarm its many militias, saying warlords and businessmen should realise it was in their interests to demobilise the gunmen they control. In a Reuters interview, Abdullahi Yusuf, whose government is beset by wrangling about where it should be based, added he was confident of one day setting up his administration in Mogadishu but he insisted that as yet the capital city was too dangerous. "We will pacify the whole country through reconciliation, through convincing each other, through reconciling tribes who fought each other during the war," he said in Kenya en route to Saudi Arabia to discuss possible aid for his government. "But we will never pacify Somalia by force, absolutely not." Yusuf, 70, a former army officer chosen by lawmakers at peace talks last year, said he was building up a security force around the country but it was not a proper army and in any case military might was not the way to peace. "My message to the Somali people is clear: I would like Somalis to forget and forgive what happened in 15 years of civil war," he said. "They have to support fully the government's effort so that Somalia will be pacified as soon as possible." Somalia has been without a central government since warlords ousted former dictator Mohamed Siad Barre in 1991 plunging the Horn of Africa nation into anarchy. Most of Somalia has since been carved into territories held by rival militias. The government has been recruiting fighters across the country in recent weeks in what looks to some Somalis like the prelude to an attack on bases held by some cabinet ministers critical of Yusuf, many of whom are based in Mogadishu. The U.N. Security Council, monitoring faltering attempts to restore effective administration to the country of up to 10 million, says any hostile military action by any party would be unacceptable and those responsible would be held accountable. Earlier this year pro- and anti-Yusuf forces fought two battles for Baidoa town, which Yusuf has said he would like to serve as one of two temporary bases of his administration. MILITIA BOSSES Yusuf, on good terms with regional power Ethiopia, said he would persuade rather than force his critics, who include some Mogadishu warlords and powerful businessmen, to cooperate. "It is in their own interest to put down weapons but we are not disarming by force. We are convincing them to disarm in the interests of the whole country," he said. Several cabinet ministers and the speaker of parliament want Yusuf to base himself in Mogadishu but Yusuf, whose political base is north-central Somalia, wants to use temporary bases in provincial towns as he feels Mogadishu is too risky. Yusuf declined to disclose the size of the security force but said it was not an attempt at a national army because his Transitional Federal Government (TFG) lacked the funds. "A government without a security force cannot function anywhere, in any country. It is not an army because we have no strength, no economic possibility for building up an army." "Businessmen need peace. If they want peace and make legal business, they have to disarm. After all, they are men like us, they understand what is their real interest." Donor countries -- criticised by Yusuf for giving inadequate aid to his fledgling administration -- say the TFG is likely to receive significant foreign funding and assistance only when it takes clear steps to mend the rifts in its own ranks. Yusuf's visit to Kenya coincided with one by Mogadishu-based parliament speaker Sharif Hassan Sheikh Adan, but it was not clear whether the two men would meet. The holding of such talks would be seen by donors as a positive sign. "I do not consider myself his enemy," Yusuf said. "But we have different ideas. He sees things one way and I see them another. We can have different opinions without becoming enemies."

  11. Come again. haye sheekadii ma bilawdey hadana? Is it one of those times when you close your eyes and start imagining things. Quit watching the space chanel; otherways, your hallucination will deteriorate and start imagining cirfiid or other entities in other dimension. Quite a retort for a simple question innocent-one.
  12. With such a political stalemate in the country coupled with the stagnation of the federal government, it is in the interest of Abdulahi Yusuf to start giving out pink slips to whomever he has for advisors. "TNG II!" is turing out to be "What TNG?".

Xiin Waaq is the Oromiya word for God. It's equivalent in the Somali language is ilaahay, and it's Arabic equivalent is Allah. "Waaq" doesn't signify any special diety, it just means "God". Your God, my god, anyone's god in the same sense that our "ilaahay", while meaning Allah when describing Muslims, can also describe the worship of pagans and other gaalos, i.e ilaahooda, ilaaheeda, ilaahiisa. Now on the other hand, the word Ayaan, one of our favorite names for the female sex, does actually describe an ancient cult God for the Oromos. Ayaana, as it was called, would be equivalent to Laata and Cuza.

Olol, I clearly remember this thread titled Jamac Maxamed Qhalib's memo or something, although it didn't make sense to began with. I wasn't surprised at all when I was told hapless six ex-police officers who hailed from gedo were jailed when they went there to join the supposed recruits of the ex-police converging in the town. Actually they were from Dhabbad, and I remember Maxamed Dheere arrested them for allegedly trying to "bomb" Abdulahi Yusuf.
  20. Saxiib, There are historically-proven source which predates those that came known to us through colonial period. This is quit ridiculous now! If we were to reconfigure Somalis into original lands that predate colonialism, the headache would be greater then trying to reconfigure post-colonial Africa into tribal, ethnic boundaries. The first stance was that the land was stolen "post-colonialism" in 69 and 91. That was refuted by the history recorded by impartial colonialists, so now the stance is "pre-colonialism" and individuals wishing us to believe the history recorded by their side is more accurate then the other side. How are you any more different in that regard then say, HornAfrique, who unflinchingly supports his claim  If we keep going back to the "pre", we will have no choice but to concede all the Somali lands to the Oromo nation of Ethiopia. I mean, of course, the Somali race begun in the northernmost areas of the peninsula and gradually expanded southward, conquering land from the Oromos and Somalizing any that chose to live there. A hundred years is much more then enough time to call a land yours, especially in a society that is overwhelmingly pastoral and nomadic.
  21. Sheekh Aweys, whose grave is said if one visited seven times in Biyooleey is equivalent of visiting Makka The things people come up with. Such blasphemy, acuudi bilaah.
  22. Mise waxaad ka waday madaxweyne ku sheegga to be named as soon as possible, before C/Y comes and Reer Gedo are left to bite the dust. Exchanging discussions with you Sky, as is the case with Duke, always seems to leave one with the notion that either we are on Politics for Dummies or you are on it. WIND- What!? Two Puntlanders in a row urged to participate in this thread just because of one of my innocent sentences? Jubbaland markii la gaadhay, high friction miyaa meesha ka bilawmatay? War waa kula kaftamayaa, but a president will be named soon. *clears throat* Drum roll please...And the winner is Colonel B.A.S.H. *clap* *clap* *clap* [Wink] And no, the president will not be the infamous colonel. More like Dr. Maxamed Xaashi Cigaal, who has been in Kismaayo for the last year building the state apparatus. Even men such us Sultan Sokor, Col. Cabdi Mahdi, and Minister Tarax have given him their support.
