I already have plans to go back to my hometown Chicago, and hopefully making some stops at Columbus, MNPLS,Toronto,Ottawa,Seattle,New York and back home ( Somalia). It's going to be a great summer!

  5. I agree with Rock's Chick......... Everything happens for a reason. So i wouldnt want to change anything whether it be bad or good.
  6. Awwww. that is so sad. I just can't understand how people do things like this. Do they have no feelings?!

  8. the outcome of the war was never a surprise.. the only thing that raised an eyebrow was when President Bush claimed this war would be "a cake walk". We all know war is never easy, so thats the only thing that might come as a surprise. As far as the uprisings go, I have read in papers and listened to the news, and uprisings in Basra is something that has been going on. I just don't like the fact that they are turning their anger towards their people. But the main thing that is really hurting me are those people in Iraq now with now food, electricity, or running water! I'm more worried about that then those people who are uprising against their country( though it is a good sign for americans, cause it justifies their whole "OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM"), The humanitarian issue should be more of a priority.

hey Hodan, where did you get this information?
  10. you know what Scorpion sista, your absolutely right. I still dont think protesting will do much in this war, but a lot of things that did happen in this country started out with people protesting about it. But one thing that i do agree about and have never doubted, its elections that can speak louder than any protest. Even though i know deep in my heart that protesting can be effective, your post just opened my eyes once again.
  11. naziha I'm all for the whole "freedom of speech" and expressing how you feel, but i agree with Naziha, what's the point? The war is now going on, there isn't much you can do to stop it. I want to be optimistic, but an issue like this fails me to do so. Plus I'm against protesting for war when a war is going on. There are people out there fighting for something they really don't belive in, so instead I'm in support of trying to make sure they come home safely, and that less amounts of innocent civilians fall victim to this war. One other thing i want to point out is some of things that go on in the war protests I have been to. Instead of arguing over issues, they talk about their hatred of Bush. Whats the point of that?! educate others about what to do in situations like this, or preach diplomacy, but creating fallacies wont get you anywhere.
  12. I agree with Tamina( except about the Harry Potter thing, lol!). The Lord of the rings books are interesting too. Though in my opinion i prefer the Harry Potter books, it's the book the majority chooses that we will actually read.............by the way, when are we going to decide on what book to read.

  14. I agree with S.O.S The Harry Potter books are great. Even if the books look real thick, the print is pretty large. I swear i read all the books in a matter of 2-4 days. They are just that good. Don't knock something until you tried it. BTW--- When number 5 comes out, I'll be glad to share my thoughts with you S.O.S.

  16. Lol, Shyhem, One thing that makes my guy sexy is the fact that he doesn't fear anything except god himself. Isn't afraid of what people think of him, isn't afraid to speak his mind, isn't afraid of dying or what to expect in this world, and he isnt afraid to step beyond the rules society has placed for us. There are other things of course that can make him sexy, but thats what really stands out for me.
  17. I know Jawahiir, I'm a bit confused too.....
  18. LOL, i needed the laugh both of your topics were funny, but i liked this one better, ( yeah go ahead and call me unfair just cause I'm a girl, lol)
  19. S.O.S. you know you bring up a very good point that i can't help but agree with you on. I'll have to look up a few more things before i just retract my statement, but thanks for enlightening me on that part, i guess i can say some things that i dont think through thoroughly.
  20. Your parents must be retarded, because you are special LOL, I'VE never heard that one before.
  21. I kind of agree with Jawahiir, one of the ways i learn to trust people is by judging them by there actions, but then again it doesn't really work all the time which us why i also agree with Scorpion_sista, i think it's hard for people to really trust someone 100%. However i dont agree with you generalizing that somali people can never learn to trust, it can run in any ethnic group.
  22. (QUOTE)"The enemies you confront will come to know your skill and bravery. The people you liberate will witness the honourable and decent spirit of the American military. (Please don’t make me sick! honourable and decent are definitely not words I’d used to describe the American military!)(/QUOTE) One thing i try and tell people is that the military is in no reason to be at fault here. Their main goal is to protect their nation, and to abide by the instructions given to them by the superior officers. In fact their are a number of people serving who disagree with the war. Some are trying to get discharged, but others understand that their positions as military officials are to withhold personal opinion and protect and serve their country. That is one thing i appreciate and admire about them. That is what makes them honorouble and decent. Please, point your finger, and do your name calling to the real culprits, the ones who are giving these orders to these men and women( say for the instance the commander and chief?) (QUOTE)"In this conflict America faces an enemy that has no regard for conventions of war or rules of morality. Saddam Hussein has placed Iraqi troops and equipment in civilian areas, attempting to use innocent men, women and children as shields for his own military. A final atrocity against his people. (Hello, are you really that dim-witted or did you miss the whole bit about how Hans Blix’s hasn’t found any weapons!?)(/QUOTE) I think you misread this a bit. It is in no way referring to the assumptions or suscpicions of WMD or other types ff weapon defiances. It is merely criticizing Husseins war strategies. He is trying to say that the fact that Saddam stationed his troops in civilian locations, which puts his people in danger, therfore stating that Hussien is in disregard for the typical convention of war and is in disregard to rules of morality. (QUOTE)"I want Americans and all the world to know that coalition forces will make every effort to spare innocent civilians from harm. A campaign on the harsh terrain of the nation as large as California could be longer and more difficult than some predict and helping Iraqis achieve a united, stable and free country will require our sustained commitment. (What like you did with Afghanistan?)(/QUOTE) Now i know you understand that fighting a nation-state is much more easier than fighting a sub-nation and even individuals! (QUOTE)"The people of the United States and our friends and allies will not live at the mercy of an outlaw regime that threatens the peace with weapons of mass murder. (in that case shouldn’t America be invaded and their weapons disarmed?)(/QUOTE) the problem with this is, even though i don't think it's fair, the United States, legally has the right to won their weapons( yep even the WMD!) However after the Gulf War, Iraq has underwent a lot of punishment, and under many resolutions legally doesn't have the right to possess such weapons. I know, it's totally unfair, by thats what You get when your dealing with a hegemon. (QUOTE)"My fellow citizens, the dangers to our country and the world will be overcome. We will pass through this time of peril and carry on the work of peace. We will defend our freedom. We will bring freedom to others and we will prevail. (I’d love to send a dictionary to Bush, and explain to him the meaning of freedom; I think he’s got it twisted with incarceration!)(/QUOTE) I don't see how that word fits? I have to say other than these few things, your arguments were very justifiable, i agreed with some, and even if i didn't agree, they were legitimate arguments that i couldn't argue with or make counterpoints. Next time, it's better to have legtimate evidence to base your opinions, and it also makes you look smarter when you criticize cetain policies, opinions, or just targeting the credibility of a person, rather then targeting the person individually as a whole. Other than that, your arguments were well stated.
