Shukran for the enlightment walaal indeed the stage of khushuuc in prayer is the pinnacle of perfecting one's salaat as we Muslims are taught by our nabi (SAW)that when we pray, we should pray as though Allah is infront of us if not know that Allah sees us. This is khushuuc as defined by the noble Al Mustafa (SAW). If any one else wishes to contribute please do not hesitate since we all here to learn. Salaamz, How do you define dhaqan celis? Do you mean Muslim or Somali culture or both? Dhaqan celis can be beneficial from an Islamic point of view. For example, for one to attend madrasa and memorise the Quraan for the duration of the summer. Some people often go back for holiday, nothing wrong with this but why not also learn the diin whilst there, sacrifice 2 hours a day surely you shall be well rewarded for the efforts. Certain members of my family go back and forth to the homeland and heard stories that people are not really better off than the west. They can do exactly same things as before mere change in environment aint gonna make much difference. There this an old Mujahid saying 'You can take a faarax or xaliimo to the drinking fountain but you cannot force the faarax or xaliimo to drink' As for me Alhamdulilah I am happy with my dhaqan Nevertheless, If the opportunity to visit my homeland knocks at the door, verily I shall pack the samsonite cases and leave for Terminal 2 - Heathrow Airport via Boeing-737 Emirates Airlines Mujahid over and out !

Salamu 3laikum, Ramadhan Karim to all the brothers and sisters. Hey why don't we remind ourselves with quoted hadith and Quranic ayaats of the benefits of Ramadhan so we can help each other to become strong in imaan, motivated to do extra sunnah, and follow Fasting as the Prophet and the saaxaba used to follow it and take advantage of Ramadhan Insha Allah. Here goes my one: "Yaa ayuha ladiina aamanu kutiba calaykum siyaamu kamaa kutiba cala ladiina min qablikum lacalakum tataquun" The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Every good deed of the son of Adam will be multiplied. He will receive ten-fold to seven-hundred-fold reward for a good deed. Allah the Glorious and Majestic has said 'but fasting is exceptional, for it is done for Me and I will give reward for it, since one abandons his passion and food for My sake. There are two occasions of joy for one who fasts, joy when he breaks it and joy when he meets his Lord; and the breath (of an observer of fast) is sweeter to Allah than the fragrance of musk." [Related by AI-Bukhari and Muslim]. Undoubtedly, this great reward will not be for those who only abstain from food and drink, but as the Prophet (pbuh) said, "Whoever does not abandon obscene speech and evil action, Allah does not need his refraining from eating and drinking." [Related by Al-Bukharij. The Prophet (pbuh) also said, Fasting is a shield. When anyone of you is fasting on a day, he should neither indulge in obscene language, nor raise his voice; rather if anyone reviles him or quarrels with him, he should say, 'I am fasting.' [Related by Al-Bukhari and Muslim]. The month of Ramadan is the month of the Qur'an. The Muslim must therefore recite the Qur'an a great deal. The Salaf used to pay particular attention to the Book of Allah, and angel Jibril (Gabriel) used to study the Qur'an with the Prophet (pbuh) during Ramadan. Uthman Ibn Affan used to complete reciting the Qur'an once each day. Some of the Salaf also completed the Quran in their qiyam prayer every three nights. Others completed it every seven days, while some others completed it every ten nights. They used to recite the Qur'an during prayers and at other times. During Ramadan, Al-Shafi'i used to complete reciting the Qur'an sixty times, excluding prayer times. AI-Aswad used to complete reciting the Qur'an every two nights. Qatada regularly completed the Qur'an within seven nights, while during Ramadan, he completed it every three nights, but in the last ten days of Ramadan, he completed it every night. When Ramadan came, Al-Zuhri left studying the hadith and study circles with scholars and he concentrated on reciting the Qur'an from the book (i.e. not from memory).

SalaaM 3LaiKuM, My vote goes to their Immense Sheikhs: 1. Saudu Ash-Shuraim = Just love his recitation the man got it going in terms of variety of tones and styles and gives ya five different voices at a fast pace 2. Abdriraxman Al-Sudais = this sheikh is also on a different level his melodic voice just is too deep. Masha Allah his voice is just too mesmeric and the style of tajweed is rather blissful medium pace I recommend people listen to when they both recite together pure different syles yet perfect combination of subcis I model the way i recite the Quran on Shuraim since I have a a very deep and fast voice  Mujahid over and out ! P.S. Al Husary is good to learn from

Salaamu 3laikum, It is very transparent that in many societies in particular the infidel west and other infidels alike the role of the women and the men are misunderstood and misinterpreted. Hence from these misconceptions of men and women's roles there has risen a gender war of men vs women and vice versa. In particular it has observed that women who are Non Mislims have suffered dramatically. Whereby women are exploited according to western ideological warfare. For example, just to sell a piece of chocolate bar that costs $1 companies use women to promote the product so women in the west became cheap piece of flesh like a product something that has a price. Lets remind ourselves of the harsh realities of the mistreating of women especially those who are Non Muslims: There has been no dearth of movements and organisations working for the rights, upliftment, liberation and emancipation of women. There is a lot of hue and cry about their status, role and rights. Inspite of all this the women related statistics make a dismal reading. Mistreating of women in the West and other Non Muslims 5,000 brides are murdered or commit suicide in relation to dowry every year in India. Female foeticide is rampant in India and China. Of 8,000 abortions conducted at a clinic in Mumbai, 7,999 were female fetuses. Some 600,000 women - die each year from pregnancy related causes, most of which are preventable. 70% of world illiterates are women. 70% of people in abject poverty are women. Only 1% of world assets are held by women. In Africa for every HIV infected male there are six HIV infected females. 50% to 75% women experience domestic voilence. Nearly 30% marriages end in divorce in the west. Half the population on globe lacks basic sanitation and 1/3 of the world population is without safe drinking water. Basic education for all would cost $6 billion and water and sanitation for all would cost $9 billion. Reproductive health service for all women would cost $12 million annually. But Annually, $700 billion spent on world’s militaries $400 billion spent on narcotic drugs. $50 billion spent on cigarettes. $33 billion spent on cosmetics and weight loss programs $17 billion spent on pet food. $12 billion is spent on perfume in Europe and USA. $11 billion is spent on ice cream in Europe. The Solution ? The Al-Mighty clearly defined our role as humans to worship Him (Allah) alone. After this fundamental purpose of life we can see that the men and the women posess particular roles in life and have rights upon each other. For example, women are naturally better to care for children and men to provide bread to the family. Hence both work in patnership. Women according to the Muslim Men are elevated beyond the sick state the Western women are in. This is why most converts to Islam are women They have seen that Islam truely liberates women despite the western propoganda that says Muslim women are not free nor liberal. The Lord of all that exists gave humans light after they were in darkness men and women alike.

Salaamu 3alaikum, Alas ! Fate favours the brave For all those who dislike London If you think London sucks well stop rushing to Heathrow with your fake passports and coming through the Euro Tunnel hiding yourselves in the Euro-Star trains. And stop coming through the white cliffs of Dover via cargo lorries and Roll-on Roll-Off mediums of transport. HM Excise and Customs reportedly arrest thousands of illegal migrants dare I say Somali included. As you people put it London is overcrowded we do not need many more visitors so please keep out from the magaalada. Go back to your mounties, yankees, and european folks we already have enough immigration problems in the city we do not need a bunch of Somalis with macawiis and dirac running lose in city of London For all those who genuinely wish to taste London life Mujahid's Travel Tips 1. We welcome you humbly to this rather ambiguous city please do not just stay at home with your family act more like a tourist 2. Ensure you have enough £££'s the city is damn expensive (due to x-change rate) but every penny is worth investing to ensure your stay is worthwhile 3. Upon arrival at Heathrow Terminal 1,2,3,4 (Soon a Fifth terminal!) check out, collect baggage, go the bureau de change, and go straight to the underground station do not get a taxi unless you wish to fork out £50 underground costs just £2.20 one way to Zone 1 which is the central London. 4. Either stay with a relative or book a bed and break-fast (B&B). If you have more funds available book in at a three star hotel perhaps Hilton Metropolis in Edgware Road, West London. Ensure your place of residence has easy access to central London. The best B&B are located in Victoria, Kensington and Baker Street. 5. Places of visit are Regents Park = There is a mosque located and acres of beautiful naturist landscapes Oxford Street = Europe's largest shopping street Hyde Park = Sunday's speakers corner Piccadilly Circus = social hub of central London, cafes and all other entertainment Barbican = Theatres/Drama Kew Gardens = another natural phenomena Tate Modern = Arts/Painting Buckingham Palace = Royal Residence City of London = Financial district second richest square mile in the world after Manhattan see the historical Edwardian office buildings. Sayings of the Scholars Regarding Music and Singing Imam IbnTaymiyyah said, "Listening to music and sinful fun are among what strengthens the satanic ways the most. This is exactly what the disbeliever's used to do. Allaah said, And their prayer at the House (of Allaah) was nothing but Muka 'an and Tasdiyah. [8:35]. Ibn Abbas, ibn Umar and others said that Tasdiyah is clapping of hands, and that Muka'an is whistling. This was the Mushrikeen's way of worship. The Prophet and his companions worshipped Allaah , according to His order, in their prayer, reading the Qur'aan and Dhikr (supplication). It never occurred that the Prophet and his companions gathered to listen to singing that is accompanied by clapping or using drums." Imam Ibn Taymiyyah also said regarding the person, whose habit is to listen to music, "His state of emotions becomes less passionate when he hears the Qur'aan. On the contrary, when he listens to instruments of the devil (music), he dances a lot. If the prayer is established, he either prays while sitting down or performs it as fast as when the roaster picks seeds. He dislikes listening to the Qur'aan and does not find beauty in it while reciting it. He has no taste for the Qur'aan and feels no love for it or pleasure when it is read. Rather, he finds pleasure if he listens to Mukaa' or Tasdiyah. These are satanic pleasures and he is among those whom Allaah mentioned in the Ayah, And whosoever turns away from the remembrance of the Most Beneficent (Allaah), We appoint for him Satan to be a companion for him. [43:36]." [Awliyaa' Ar-Rahman]. Imam Ibn Al-Qayyim said, "Of the tricks of the enemy of Allaah, Satan, that he uses to trap those who do not enjoy much intelligence, knowledge or sincerity in religion, are M ukaa' and Tasdiyah. These people of ignorance listen to and use musical instruments that are prohibited and which lead the hearts to abandoning the Qur'aan. These hearts are indulging in sin and disobedience of Allaah. Music, then, is Satan's Qur'aan and the barrier between one and Allaah. It is the way to sodomy and adultery. With it, the lover finds what he seeks and dreams of sinful love. Satan has trapped the weak hearts in the love of singing and made it beautiful to them. Satan reveals to his agents' fake proofs that they use as evidence to the beauty of singing. These people accept Satan's revelation and, as a consequence, abandon the Qur'aan. When you witness them while listening, you will find them silent in humbleness, sitting idle and their hearts are concentrating and totally enjoying music and singing. Their hearts will feel closer to music, as if they were drunk. They dance and move in a suggestive manner, like faggots and whores. And why not? They are drunk with the pleasure of listening to music and singing and act accordingly. For other than Allaah, and for Satan, there are hearts that are being broken by sin, and fortunes that are being spent for other than Allaah's Pleasure. They spend their lives in joyful fun and make a mockery of their religion. Instruments of the devil are sweeter to their ears than the Qur'aan. If one of them listens to the Qur'aan from beginning to end, it will have little effect or excitement on him. If Satan's Qur'aan is being performed and heard, they feel joy in their hearts and one can see it in their eyes. Their feet dance, their hands clap, their breathing intensifies and the rest of their bodies feel joy. O you who are trapped in this sin, you who have sold your share of Allaah to Satan, what a losing deal! Why not feels this joy when you listen to the Qur'aan? Why not feel pleasure and comfort when the Glorious Qur'aan is recited? But, everyone seeks what he feels is suitable for him, and ends up with what is really suitable for him." [ighathat Al-Lahfan]. Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Baz was asked about listening to music and songs, "Is it Haram? I only listen to it for pleasure. What about playing the Rababah (a kind of guitar) and old songs? What about using drums in weddings?" Sheikh Ibn Baz said, "Listening to music is Haram and a sin. It is a matter that leads to weakening the hearts and abandoning the Dhikr of Allaah and the prayer. The scholars said about the Ayah, And of' mankind he who purchases idle talks [31:6], that idle talks means singing. Abdullaah ibn Masud , the Prophet's companion, used to swear by Allaah that it is singing. If singing is accompanied by the Rababah, 'Ud (Arabic guitar), fiddles or drums, it is even more Haram. Any singing with any instrument is Haram and the scholars are unanimous on this. Therefore, Muslims must be aware of it. The Prophet said, "From among my nation there will be those who render as lawful adultery, silk (for men), AI-Khamr (alcohol) and musical instruments." [Al-Bukhari]. I advise you and others to read the Qur'aan and keep remembering Allaah. I advise you to listen to Qur'aanic programs on the radio. This way, one will find pleasure and will keep busy so he can stay away from music and songs. As for weddings, the Daff (tambourine) can be used along with innocent singing that does not call to sin. This can be done at night, only in weddings and only by and for women. These songs are a way of announcing an Islaamic marriage. The Sunnah of the Prophet supports the above. As for the drums, they are Haram all the time. The Daffis permitted in weddings and only for and by women." Many Muslims today render music as permissible. This is due to their ignorance or outright defiance of the religion. We ask Allaah that we are among those who listen to the speech and follow the best of what it contains. These are the ones whom Allaah has guided and granted them the bounty of sanity and comprehending minds. This is further supported by www.islam-qa.com

The Consumption of Harmful Things is Haram A general rule of the Islamic Shari'ah is that it is haram for the Muslim to eat or drink anything which may cause his death, either quickly or gradually, such as poisons, or substances which are injurious to health or harmful to his body. It is also haram to eat or drink large quantities of a substance if large quantities of it cause illness. For the Muslim is not entirely his own master; he is also an asset to his religion and his ummah (the Muslim nation), and his life, health, wealth, and all that Allah has bestowed upon him are a trust with him which he is not permitted to diminish. Says Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala: And do not kill yourselves; indeed, Allah is ever Merciful to you. (4:29) He also says: And do not be cast into ruin by your own hands.... (2:195) And His Messenger (peace be on him) said: "Do not harm yourself or others.'' (Reported by Ahmad and Ibn Majah.) As an application of this principle, we may say that if it is proved that the use of tobacco is injurious to health, it is haram, especially for a person whose physician has advised him to stop smoking. Even if it is not injurious to health, it is still a waste of money, spent neither for religious nor for secular benefit, and the Prophet (peace be on him) forbade wasting of property. (Reported by al-Bukhari.) This becomes the more serious when the money is otherwise needed for the sustenance of oneself or one's family. P.S. The above is same for the consumption of Khat as it is harmful and can even lead to infertility. Source: www.themodernreligion.com

An article from http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Flats/1716/music.html Listening to music and singing is a sin and cause for the sickening and weakening of the heart. The majority of the scholars of the Salaf are unanimous that listening to music and singing and using musical instruments is Haram (prohibited). Evidence that Music and Singing are Haram 1. Allaah said, what translated means, "And of mankind he who purchases idle talks to mislead (people) from the Path of Allaah without knowledge, and takes it (the Path of Allaah) by way of mockery, For such there will be a humiliating torment." [31:6]. Al-Wahidi , along with other scholars of Tafsir (explaining the Qur'aan), said that "Idle Talk" in this Ayah is singing. The following companions gave this Tafsir: Ibn Abbas, Ibn Masud, Mujahid and Ikrimah . Ibn Masud said, "By Allaah, whom there is no God except Him, idle talk is singing." 2. The Prophet said (which means), "From among my followers there will be some people who will consider illegal sexual intercourse, the wearing of silk, the drinking of alcoholic drinks and the use of musical instruments, as lawful. And there will be some people who will stay near the side of a mountain and in the evening their shepherd will come to them with their sheep and ask them for something, but they will say to him, 'Return to us tomorrow.' Allaah will destroy them during the night and will let the mountain fall on them, and He will transform the rest of them into monkeys and pigs and they will remain so till the Day of Resurrection." [Al-Bukhari Volume 7, Book 69, Number 494v]. This Hadeeth states that musical instruments are Haram, and there is no disagreement among the scholars on this. In his book, Ighathat Al-Lahfan, Ibn Al-Qayyim said, "When the Prophet said, 'render as lawful,' he meant that it was unlawful, then the people made it lawful." 3. Abu Hurayrah narrated that the Prophet said, what translated means, group of this nation will be transformed into monkeys and swine." They said, "Do not they testify that there is no god except Allaah and that Muhammed is His Messenger?" He said, "Yes. And also they fast pray and perform Hajj." They said, "Then, what is their problem?" He said, "They use musical instruments, drums and female singers. (One day) they will go to sleep after a night of drinking and having fun, In the morning, they will be transformed (by Allaah) into monkeys and swine." [iughathat Al-Lahfan]. 4. Allaah said, criticizing the Kuffar's worship around the Kaa'bah, what translated means, "Their prayer at the House (Kaa'bah) was nothing but Muka'an and Tasdiyah." [8:35]. Ibn Abbas, Ibn Umar, Atiyyah, Muj ahid, Ad-Dhahh'ak, AlHasan and Qatadah said that Muka'an means whistling, and that Tasdiyah means clapping of hands.

Salaamu Alaikum, Before the details of Islamic modes of financing are discussed it seem necessary to provide a brief introduction to the basic principles that govern the whole economic set up in an Islamic way of life. 1. Belief in Divine Guidance The foremost belief around which all the Islamic concepts revolve is that the whole universe is created and controlled by One, Allah, the Only True God. He has created man and appointed him as vicegerent (Khalifa) on the earth to fulfil certain objectives through obeying His commands. The commands are not restricted to some modes of worship or so called religious rituals. They, on the contrary, cover a substantial area of every aspect of life. These commands are neither so exhaustive that straiten the human activities within a narrow circle, leaving no role for human intellect to play, nor are they so little or ambiguous that they leave every sphere of life at the mercy of human perception and desire. Far from these extremes, Islam has a balanced approach to govern human life. The obedience from the servants of Allah is required not only in worship but also in their economic activities. 2. The basic difference between capitalist and Islamic economy Islam does not deny the market forces and market economy. Even the profit motive is acceptable to a reasonable extent. Private ownership is not totally negated. Yet the basic difference of Islamic economy to the capitalist one is that in secular capitalism, the private ownership or profit motive are given unbridled power to make economic decisions. This attitude has allowed imbalances in society such as: (i) Interest, gambling, speculative transactions tend to concentrate wealth in the hands of the few. (ii) Unhealthy human instincts are exploited to make money through immoral and injurious products/services. (iii) Unbridled profit making creates monopolies, which paralyse the market forces or at least hinder their natural operation. Thus the capitalist economy that claims to based on market forces practically stops the natural process of supply and demand, because these forces can only work in an atmosphere of free competition. Islam after recognising private ownership and profit motive it has put divine restrictions on the economic activities. These restrictions being imposed by Allah Almighty, Whose Knowledge has no limits, cannot be removed by any human authority. The prohibition of Riba (Usury, Interest), gambling, hoarding, dealing in unlawful goods or services, short sales and speculative transactions are some examples of these divine restrictions. All these restrictions combined have a cumulative effect of maintaining balance, distributive justice and equality of opportunities. 3. Asset-backed financing One of the most important characteristics of Islamic Financing is that it is an asset backed financing. The capitalist concept of financing is to deal with money and monetary papers only without any real goods/services as an asset backed finance. Islam on the other hand, does not recognise money as a subject matter of trade, except in some exceptional cases. Money has no intrinsic utility; it is only a medium of exchange; each unit of money is 100% equal to another unit of the same denomination, therefore, there is no room for making profit through the exchange of these units inter se. Profit is generated when something having intrinsic value is sold for money or when different currencies are exchanged, one for another. The profit from dealing with money of the same currency or the papers representing them is interest hence prohibited. Financing in Islam is always based on illiquid assets, which creates real assets and inventories. The real and ideal instruments of financing in Shari'ah are musharakah and mudarabah. When a financier contributes money on the basis of these two instruments it is bound to be converted into the assets having intrinsic utility. Profits are generated through the sale of these real assets. Financing in the case of Salam and Istisna also creates real assets. The financier in the case of salam receives real goods and can make profit by selling them in the market. In the case of istisna, financing is affected through manufacturing some real assets, as a reward of which the financier earns profit. Other instruments include murabahah and financial leases the scholars have reshaped these to meet certain cases where none of the other instruments are suitable and subject to terms and conditions. 4. Capital and entrepreneur According to the capitalist theory, capital and entrepreneur are two separate factors of production. The former gets interest and the later profit. Interest is a fixed return for providing capital, while profit can be earned only when there is a surplus after distributing the fixed return to land, labour and capital (in the form of rent, wages and interest). Islam on the contrary, does not recognise capital and entrepreneur as two separate factors of production. Every person that contributes capital (in the form of money) to a commercial enterprise assumes risk of loss, therefore is entitled to a share in actual profit. In this manner capital has intrinsic element of entrepreneurships so far as the risk of business is concerned. Therefore, instead of a fixed return of interest it derives profit. The more the profit of the business the higher the return of capital. ---------- Insha Allah Part 2 to come in the near future
