*Ibtisam;722644 wrote: Wooow this thread moved fast. The Zack dont shoot yourself in the foot; IF Somaliland is expected to come back from the hatred of pre 1991 and its impact, it is hardly a tall order to ask SSC to come back from clan clashes. There is no comparison surely?. . Somaliland clan have been subjugated and harassed by a regime that contained all kinds of clans ( Some of them actually were from Somaliland) and not by a specific clan, do you disagree with that fact? Even if you believe it was Siyad Barre's clan that did that to the Somaliland clan, Somalia is a multi-clan country. Just because specific clan did bad things to them doesn't mean they should secede from all Somalia. The issue of SSC, however, is different. It is one clan vs one clan thus the hatred is more serious. JB, so SNM was for secession in the 80s? oh please!

Ibti, While I respect your position, I happen to slightly disagree with you on some of the points you have made. SSC is a major problem for Somaliland. It is something that will be looked at if the AU wants to consider recognizing Somaliland. I am not saying getting SSC on board will get y'all a straight forward recognition but it will take you one step closer. On another note, recognition iyo recognition la'aan, the issue of SSC can't be ignored. I am afraid, there will be more bloodshed in the coming months for this cause, a bloodshed that can be avoided. Dhinace kale, what is your take on the overall Somaliland thing? It has been 20 years, the recognition is not here, there is no sign it will be coming in ages. Don't you think that it is time Somaliland reconsiders its positions and maybe offer to be an autonomous region in Somalia? I mean the status quo is not helping them at all. I know they can't control what is going in the south but they can contribute positive things to it.

^You pwned him right there! JB, explain that point in details. "Wax fog ma aha" maxaad ka waddaa? The hatred between the two communities has spiked in the last two years, and it is not going to get better, I am afraid, before it gets worse. Again, this is very simple point. Somaliland says: We don't want to be part of Somalia. SSC says: We don't want to be part of Somaliland. How does one who supports one of those statements oppose the other?

^Ha ha I knew where you were going with that sarcasm, at least unlike the former NJ governor muusan dhihin Qajac baan ahay sax. Agreed. Taleexi kulahaa she is hot :D

^LOOL@you two.

^Good points, Jacphar. The SNM struggle has indeed been hijacked. SNM = Somali (no land here) National Movement.

Jacaylbaro;722619 wrote: You will never stand in the Somaliland's side dee ...... . That is not true, I will support Somaliland when it is the right thing to do so. If Somaliland recognizes that it is part of federal Somalia, you will see me by their side. If a fair referendum is held and the secession wins, I will support Somaliland. Last but not least, if gobloladan: Waqooyi Galbeed, half of Sanaag, and some Togdheer towns decide to leave the rest of Somalia, I will respect their position. You see where I am going with this? I don't think it is fair to force SSC and Awdal to secede when majority of those people are unionists. Xaqqa aad raadin walaalkaa ha u diidin, fair?

The speaker is talking about Somalia . Jaceylbaro, It aint my fault that you didn't have the guts to defend your points. Hargeisa has to deal with multiple problems before the world can consider recognizing it. Ignoring those problems will keep you in the status quo. I know the South is in a bad position, but I say it is time for Somaliland to reconsider its positions for the better of its people.

^Crying, oohin, crying, oohin. - man what is wrong with you? Men don't cry and men don't use that word. As for the topic, it is a good step. Federalism should be considered.

^LOL. Labada baa ugu adag sxb, dagaal inaa u diyaar garoobo weeye horta. I heard once you get 2, third and and fourth will be a piece of cake.

Legalizing polygamy should be considered in the US. There are too many of these "cheating" cases in this country. Anagu afar baan iska guursaneynaa so this won't be an issue.

Keeping it real, huh? :D I am glad you didn't claim Kismayo .. kidding kidding.

Folks, when the discussion reaches to the point where you start name-calling each other, it is better off if you just drop it. Overall, Aside from being a bit emotional, I think the folks from SSC are winning this debate. This win is based on this one main point: If Somaliland is seceding from Somalia because of their choice, SSC is seceding from Somaliland because of their choice. In my point of view, that is a strong point. The secession sympathizers should address that point to move this debate to the next level. NGONGE stated that there is no point to discuss this now because the rest of Somalia is in chaos and there is no place for Somaliland to return to. Well, what he forgot is that there won't be a recognition until the issue of SSC is settled. Maybe good NGONGE doesn't care much about the recognition as Rush Limbaugh (oops, Africa Own) accuses him of.
-
^You understand that if SSC is not on board, there is 0 chance for recognition, right? Who will recognize three cities for a country? Unless of course you are Djibouti and you have historic official border line for those three towns.

Som@li and Liibaan, If we put the clan argument aside for a minute, can you guys picture the people of SSC and Somaliland living together peacefully?

The rule of law has to be followed and the elections are to be held otherwise every president will use their own excuse to stay in the office longer than they are supposed to be.

*Ibtisam;722110 wrote: The Zack; Could Somaliland be seen as a stepping stone to Federalism and in turn would yield the ever sought UNITY of all of Somali speaking lands? Most definitely, Ibt! If Somaliland changes its stance and admits that the secession idea has failed, it can been a stepping stone to federalism. I think you asked both parties good and fair questions but all have not been answered yet. Jb, you claimed that SL is doing something right and is talking to the proper parties, well that is good step sir but the most important side that SL needs to negotiate with is ssc and we don't see that going on. We see a war being waged against them and we all see more hatred in the making between the two people/entities. Don't you think that more energy should be focused on to these people? Instead of embracing what few dabaqoodhis like Xaaabsade do? Sscers, if Somaliland drops its secession idea and claims to be part of the big federal somalia, would your region be ok to be part of Somaliland? If not, why not?

*Ibtisam;722094 wrote: P.s. Well done you wrote 5lines!!! :D I think essays and journals are not required in Somali colleges so JB never wrote 3000 words LOL.

Liibaan, he is not. Oday Somali makes sense sometimes JB, so if you believe that you can't sell the idea of the validity of secession to us, how do you think you will be able to sell it to the other world? No offense but I think the analogy you have used sucks big time. "They won't believe me anyways so I won't say any thing" is a very weak argument. Plus, we are not even asking you to sell anything to us, we want to you to look at the big picture and try to understand where the SSCers are coming from when they are opposing the Hargeisa Admin. Use your sales pitch and bring your "countrymen/women" (sorry SSCers) on board dee badow yahow!

LOOOOOOOOOOOOL@your list. Just watch, you will be attacked up and down soon. :D@the half wadaad dude, who is that dude tolow? I think everybody should participate as long as they can keep their emotions to certain levels. My clan is better/stronger than your clan is the wackiest argument in this world. P.s. Exclude NGONGE, he is in denial ama u sheeg adeer SSC is real dheh . Also, I think some of the newbies actually make more sense than some of the veterans.

LOL@Ibtisam. Seriously people let's have a reasonable debate for once without insulting each other's qabiil. We all wonder why Somalia has been in the state it is in for 2 decades, well, I wonder why SOL Politics Section members have been in the state they are in for years. Let me be clear, there is no single Somali qabiil that is mightier than other qabiils so please chill with my qabiil is greater crap! In the normal world, that is called ethnocentrism, I think in our world it would be Clanocentrism. For once, let's put ourselves on other people's shoes and see how this will end up. If you are a die hard Somalilander, for once think outside the box and remember that your entity can NOT move forward if others are not on board, if you are a die hard SSCer, for once imagine how it would be to be with Somaliland., ask yourself, is it really that bad. Hate, hate, hate won't get anybody anywhere. For all others this is kinda a peace negotiation for SSCer and Somalilanders, contribute positive things.

300 Million Dollars Missing from the Somali Government Coffers
The Zack replied to Che -Guevara's topic in Politics
That is unfortunate. One of the many consequences of not having a strong government. -
N.O.R.F;722017 wrote: Before I could reply to my friend Sayid, the previous thread was, in my opinion unnecessarily closed. The only thread that has got people to have a 'discussion' in the politics forums for many moons shouldn't have been closed for minor rule infringments. The healthy debate taking place far outweighs the mentioning of tribal names on a few occasions. . I agree with NORF. This thread had one of the healthiest political debates at SOL for ages. Though I understand MMA's frustrations with the rules broken, I think that thread shouldn't have been closed.
