Ukienda shule pita dukani- when you go to school pass by the shop. Just felt to share guess may help in increasing our knowledge. -

Ngonge what you have raised are genuine views. I also cringe when I hear parents giving their children mobile phones as the substitute of love and good parent-child communication/dialogue. But we must appreciate that a mobile phone is just a device to keep in touch. Maybe that child has practice after school, has a working ma or pa who has a tendency of showing up late or a bit irresponsible so when classes are over he just gives them a call and they pick them up??? Personally dont mind having it without me but the truth is I do not know when my family will call me? my friends will inform me of a change in class or a sudden emergency. So I have it charged just waiting. With extended families in different places in the world SMS messages come in handy to know if they are fine especially with a limited budget as you cant call all of them and ask them hows life treating them. At the end its all personal choice and I respect yours .

A sister and brother are talking to each other when the little boy gets up and walks over to his Grandpa and says, "Grandpa, please make a frog noise." The Grandpa says, "No." The little boy goes on, "Please...please make a frog noise." The Grandpa says, "No, now go play." The little boy then says to his sister, "Go tell Grandpa to make a frog noise." So the little girl goes to her Grandpa and says, "Please make a frog noise." The Grandpa says, "I just told your brother 'no' and I'm telling you 'no'." The little girl says, "Please...please Grandpa make a frog noise." The Grandpa says, "Why do you want me to make a frog noise?" The little girl replied, "Because mommy said when you croak we can go to Disney World!"

Praise the effort to revive this section to its old glory. Sisters you have proposed important topics which do affect us and our families. I would like to add there is a rise in depression/mental disorders in female population a topic e.g-Living a healthy mental life could be added to the list. -
One night a teenage girl brought her new boyfriend home to meet her parents, and they were appalled by his appearance: leather jacket, motorcycle boots, tattoos and pierced nose. Later, the parents pulled their daughter aside and confessed their concern. "Dear," said the mother diplomatically, "he doesn't seem very nice." "Oh please, Mom," replied the daughter, "if he wasn't nice, why would he be doing 500 hours of community service?"

Another swahili joke >>>> Paka atajuaje??? baada ya matibabu mazito ya miezi 3 ya ugonjwa wa akili wa kujihisi kuwa panya(mental condition where he beleives he is a mouse), yule jamaa akamwomba doktari ruhusa atoke hospitali, kwani sasa anajihisi ni binadamu si panya tena! jamaa kutoka mlangoni tu akarudi ndani kwa kasi na kelele, "jamani nisaidieni, kuna paka nje!!" dokta akamwuliza "si ulisema sasa unajihisi mtu, kwanini unaogopa paka?", akajibu "mimi najijua kama mtu, lakini paka atajuaje kama mimi si panya tena"!!!

Asalaam aleykum would like to share an article with you my fellow nomads of another tragedy but with a happy ending. It was reported in a local paper in Rochdale (A town of northwest England, north-northeast of Manchester) of a young woman who was raped down in a small dark alley. On a separate evening around the same time, a young Muslim woman was walking home from college. Aware that it was getting dark fast, shewanted to get home as soon as possible so her mother would not be worrying about her being outside alone at night. The young Muslim girl faced a dilemma. To take the short cut down the same alleyway to avoid getting home after dark, or to take the longer route and have her mother worrying herself sick about her daughters safety. Conscious of the time, she takes the alleyway. While the girl is walking down the alley, she sees a rather sinister (threatening evil), a dark figure of a man walking towards her from the other end. As her pace quickens, she begins to read Ayat-ul-kursi for her safety. On passing the man, he makes eye contact but carries on walking. When the young Muslim girl reaches home she tells her family about this sinister (threatening evil) looking man, they advise her to contact the police after having read the newspaper article some time before. Whenshe contacts the police they ask her to give a physical description of the man. It matches the description the rape victim had given. Some days later the young Muslim girl receives a phone callfrom the police asking her if she would come down to the police station to identify the man in a line up. Both the rape victim and the Muslim girl pick out the same man. The police are confused; they ask the rapist why he attacked one girl and not the other. In reference to the Muslim girl, he replies "why would I attack her when she was walking with two huge men on either side of her?" SUBHANALLAH

It is disheartening to see that bias still influences the decision and necessity to intervene or cause development in treatment for all. We are unfortunate to be born the -'darker race'. Im currently reading a novel(My Public Health prof. lent it to me after we were discussing AIDS in Africa) written by an Irish writer set back in the early ninties -1992 she singlehandedly cycled thru Africa from Kenya to Zimbabwe and gave her raport on what she encountered unbiased. Coincidently the route she choose was known as the 'Ukimwi'(Swahili 'for the wasting disease' ie. HIV) road. I havent finished it yet but so far I can agree with the writer myself being born and raised in africa and my interactions with members of the african community. That its almost a true depiction of : africans mentality(The so called -Mzungu(european) idea comes first, tracing back to colonial times where individual thought was repressed and only what the colonist ordered was done.), our standard of living, the poverty, tribalism, politics at that time -(Eg. At that time Kenyans were preparing for the elections, alot of clashes between tribes, trouble in Uganda with the rebels..). She also did extra homework by adding quotations and excerpts from books regarding the areas or thoughts she met during her journey which are very educational. You also get the chance to experience the natural beauty of Africas wilderness and places through her words.Eg. Source of Lake victoria.... The book is Titled : The Ukimwi Road- From Kenya to Zimbabwe. Author: Dervla Murphy If you can get your hands on it you will not regret the experience.

When will i be confident enough and play my role fully in society?. Why do I feel like a lost sheep in a world full of wolves??? Why do I feel happy when I help a patient and sad when I cant do anything about the state where the truth is its Qadr? Why is it hard to accept that - health is but a favour from the Almighty.

Asalaam aleykum Unfortunately as the article has been written in somali couldnt get the real message. But from what Ive grasped My advice will be: For a week tell the lady to pray Salatul Istikhara. If the marriage is meant for her she will find her heart inclined to marrying him. If heavy well means the marriage isnt meant to be. Walikum salaam

Asalamu Caleykum Somali sisters and brothers here.
Warrior of Light replied to NASSIR's topic in General
Jacaylbaro To make changes needs solidarity both from both sexes and from each age group. Unfortunately due to our 'Somali' issues progress is hard to be seen. I pray for the day when women from all corners of Somalia (who live on different continents) will decide to make changes as projects to address the problems we face as a community. I do see progress but it is mostly district/region based run by women. -
a feeling of helplessness but another Ramadhan is passing away. It passes so quickly ,I always miss it feel lost when the last week comes up. Will I be able to see another month? Will I be able to fulfill my duties then again and better than now? Why is it when people are chatting esp. on somalinet they act as if they are not muslims? Is it a sign of rebellion and to what benefit is it to us the people who read their disgraceful ideas ? Or is it just a front to gather attention? Why do people have to be rude when just a smile or a good word can win a heart? Why is it the corrupt have the power? When are we Muslims to wake up and take our roles in life? And let the innocent live a happy life.without fear, hatred and atrocities?

Inshallah go for the Eid prayer. Make calls to my parents, grandparents ,aunt, uncles, bro ,sisters the whole extended family. Unless they surprise me earlier though according to the timezone difference Im usually ahead of them. Have breakfast with friends. That means cooking homemade stuff;) the night before nangatai,mandazi,visheti,... u know the sweet stuff. Buy loads of sweets as when the door rings ur supposed to give sweets to the children (its their treat. Then get on a bus and start preparing food for the famous meet where all african muslim students come and have lunch together. Love the atmosphere nearly everyones there helping with the peeling n stuff and the ladies we are in the kitchen 'karangiza-ing' cooking. After that sometimes we hold an all african football match so we go and cheer the guys or go 2 the cinema together or just chill in the house as its time to catch up with fellow friends and making new friends. After that Inshallah its niyah for sita. And inviting students who are visiting from other towns for iftar or lunch.
