This happens to me so often it seems. I got back my midterm exams and I was momentarily shocked. The one that I didnt study for and was agonizing over for days I got an A-. The one that I felt so confident and happy about I got a C. Whenever I feel happy about an exam and think Ive done really well, in reality I do very bad. And the one I worry about constantly and have a major case of anxiety I do really well in. Do you guys ever experience that or is it just me? P.S. THOSE OF YOU WHO HAVE EXAMS COMING UP, GO STUDY!!!!!

There was a middle-aged man, who, getting tired of his first wife decided to marry the beautiful, young girl next door. The man had thick beautiful salt and pepper hair that he cared for and loved. THe first wife, wanting him to appear mature and her age, started to pluck his black hairs when her slept with her. The young wife, wanting her husband to appear more youthful and closer to her age, started to pluck his gray hairs, when he came to sleep with her. Soon, the man found himself completely bald, without a single hair on his head. He was outraged, and his wifes were horrified. SO GUYS WHAT IS THE MORAL OF THIS STORY?.

I think what sister in Islam meant was that people in SOL are obsessed with love and marriage. Arent those sterotypical topics in a women's forum? There are more important issues to discuss here than love.

Homemade Facials Following are a few homemade facials that will help make your skin beautiful and vibrant. Citrus and grapefruit mask for oily skin types: Ingredients: grapefruit lemon's juice cored apple 1-2 egg whites 30-40 seedless grapes Mix ingredients together in a blender. Apply on your face and leave for fifteen minutes, then rinse off with warm water. Grapefruit unclogs pores and lemon is an excellent astringent and clarifier, while egg whites tighten the skin. Expect a tingle with this mask-that means its working but if your skin is dry it could start to burn. If this occurs, wash it off immediately. water. This mask leaves your skin smooth, refreshed and tightens your skin. Yogurt Moisturizing Mask Ingredients: Plain yoghurt Smooth yoghurt over your face and let it set for about 20 minutes. Fruity Facials Ingredients: Strawberry Crush strawberry and apply on face and leave it on for 2/3 minutes and then rinse with plenty of water. Somali marriage breakdowns first became frequent in the early 1990s when thousands of Somalis fled the civil strife and political upheaval in their country. Back in Somalia, the commitment to marriage was so strong that divorce was practically unheard of. But migrants to Europe found that the new culture meant that they faced rigorous challenges. Marriage became less valuable. In a survey conducted for this article, 78 Somalis of different sexes and ages, both married and single, were asked to give their views on the main causes of marriage breakdowns within the UK’s Somali community. Family counselling for the Somali community in London [ enlarge ] The new culture was not supportive of traditional marriage customs, the interviewees felt. External cultural influences were the main reason given for marriage break-ups (76%). The rest of the interviewees (34%) blamed the economic independence of the diaspora women. 28% blamed khat, a green narcotic leaf widely chewed by the Somalis. Khat was illegal in Somalia from 1983 until 1991 when the regime that banned it was overthrown. In the UK, where it can be purchased legally, it is widely believed that the substance causes financial hardship and sexual impotence. Interestingly, nearly half (46%) said Somali marriages in the diaspora were simply not strongly rooted in a committed relationship. When asked what the most common reasons for getting married were, 53% considered love as the starting point, while a staggering 44% said that Somalis in the diaspora married for financial reasons. As to who was to blame, women or men, interviewees split on gender lines: 70% of the women blamed men’s failure to adapt to the new environment; 74% of the men blamed either the host culture, or the women for adapting to it. Women’s financial independence ‘This does not mean everybody is forgetting our history,’ insists Ahmed Mohamed Wasuge, a linguistics professor from the former Somali Faculty of Languages, who is now a refugee in London. But he admits that the situation is worrying. He has been trying to mediate between troubled Somali couples. ‘Of the twenty families I have intervened in, only nine are still married.’ He sees the root of the problem as lying in the fact that Somali women are refusing to respect their tradition and religion. ‘A man feels guilty when he cannot pay the bill, and our women see this as a victory over men.’ He himself is married for the fourth time, and has six children. In his report on Somali refugees in London, Dr Anthony Olden, of London’s Thames Valley University, agrees that the balance of power between husbands and wives within Somali families of the diaspora has changed. ‘Women find that they now control the family finances because social welfare payments are channelled through them. This alters the relationship between them and their partners, particularly if the man is out of work,’ he concludes in his report. But according to Professor Wasuge, the largest source of income in contention between spouses falls outside the welfare system. Most Somali women living in Europe benefit from an interest-free loan system. Shalongo, as it is known in Somali, involves large sums of money, managed centrally, which circulate within a fixed number of women. The Shalongo can raise between £5,000 and £12,000 annually for a woman who needs it – depending on how much is invested. This sum has to be repaid in instalments over an agreed period of no less than a year. Women and children account for the highest number of Somalis who migrate to the UK. Men often opt to stay, either to look after properties left behind, or to fight along side their clansmen, politically or militarily. Many such women either divorce their husbands immediately on arrival, in order to start a new life, or do so a few years later, when their applications for family reunion are turned down. Farayare admits that external influences played a part in the deterioration of the relationship. ‘Men should learn how to cook, do the laundry and change the nappies,’ she says with a chuckle. Back home, Somali men would never have been required to share in the housework. Fellow single mother Shakur agrees with Farayare: Somali men should accept the European way of life. ‘This is a husband and wife meeting their family duties,’ she says. ‘Men should cook, wash the dishes, and do the ironing if the wife seems to be busy on something else. This is nothing to be ashamed of.’ Shakur does not accept that the effect of the move to a new culture has pushed Somali men to the wall. ‘Somali men are known to rate themselves very highly and are mentally robust,’ she says. ‘They are using religion as a scapegoat when they say that women are abandoning Islam. This is the way this country is, and we should adapt to it,’ she concludes. ‘Women should avoid marrying men for money and looks. What is important is his intelligence and his behaviour in the family,’ she says. ‘As to whether I will marry again…no comment! But of course I need a man.’

Imagine yourself after you pass away Imagine your grave through night and through day Wishing that you did not do as they say Wishing that you had got up and had prayed. Imagine, my friends, the day that you died Imagine all of the tears that they cried Remember how it felt when your body was tied Remember how it felt in the grave which you lied. Imagine the day you'll be called to account Imagine the sum to which your life will ammount Think for a moment of the deeds which you mount Think for a moment how much they will count. What will they say of you when you are dead? What will they say, what will be said? Will they speak of all the poor who you fed? Will they remember all the Qur`an that you read? Think not of them, but of Allah, Lord of mankind and jinn Think of Allah when tempted to sin Think of the paradise which you will dwell in Don't wait till later to think what might have been.

"IT'S NOT WHAT HAPPENS TO YOU . . . IT'S WHAT YOU DO WITH IT." A POEM There once was an oyster Whose story I tell, Who found that some sand Had got into his shell. It was only a grain, But it gave him great pain. For oysters have feelings Although they're so plain. Now, did he berate The harsh workings of fate That had brought him To such a deplorable state? Did he curse at the government, Cry for election, And claim that the sea should Have given him protection? "No," he said to himself As he lay on a shell, Since I cannot remove it, I shall try to improve it. Now the years have rolled around, As the years always do, And he came to his ultimate Destiny . . . stew. And the small grain of sand That had bothered him so Was a beautiful pearl All richly aglow. Now the tale has a moral, For isn't it grand What an oyster can do With a morsel of sand? What couldn't we do If we'd only begin With some of the things That get under our skin. Author unknown

From: Mohammad Kamal mk2@mail.idt.net I wonder........................ If Prophet Muhammad (SAW) visited you, just for a day or two If he came unexpectedly, I wonder what you would do? Oh I know you would give your nicest room, to such an honored guest And you would surely serve him, your very very best. You would be your finest, cause you're glad to have him there That serving him in you're home, would be a joy without compare. But when you see him coming, would you meet him at the door With your arms outstretched in welcome, for your respected visitor. Or would you run to change your clothes, before you let him in And hide some magazines to put the Quran, where they had been? Would you still watch those movies, on your TV set Or would you switch it off, before he gets terribly upset. Would you turn off the radio, and hope that he had not heard And wish that you did not sing, that song word by word? Would you hide your worldly things, and instead take the Hadith books out Could you let him walk right in, or would you rush about? And I wonder...if the Prophet (SAW) spent, a day or two with you Would you go on doing the things, that you always do? Would you go right on and say the things, that you always say Would life for you continue, as it does from day to day. Would your family conversations, keep up their usual pace And would you find it hard at each meal, to say a table grace? Would you keep up each and every prayer, without putting on a frown And would you always jump up early, to say your Fajr at dawn? Would you sing the songs you always sing, and read the books you read And let him know the things on which, your mind and spirit feed? Would you take the Prophet (SAW) with you, everywhere you plan to go? Or would you maybe change your plans, just for a day or so? Would you be glad to have him meet, your very closest friends Or, would you hope they stay away, until his visit ends? Would you be glad to have him stay, forever on and on Or would you sigh with great relief, when at last he has gone. It might be interesting to know, the things that you would really do If Prophet Muhammad (SAW) came, to spend some time with you.

Summary of the Lessons, Rewards and Benefits of Prayer You should know - My dear Brother and Sister Muslim that the following has been authentically reported from our Messenger (sas) regarding the lessons, benefits and rewards of the five daily prayers: 1. That Allaah the Exalted wipes away sins by the five prayers. 2. That the five prayers are an expiation for what occurs between them, if major sins are avoided. 3. That sins burn and destroy a person and thus it is necessary to extinguish that with the prayers. 4. That the muslim reaches the level of the truthful and the martyrs on account of his prayers, charity and fasting. 5. The superiority of prayer[1] over other actions. 6. That Allaah the Exalted bestowed a favour upon that companion by entering him into Paradise before his brother who died as a martyr because he prayed more than him. 7. That the prayer is light which illuminates the path of the servant in this world and the hereafter. 8. That an abundance of prostrations and prayers is the way to accompany the Messenger (sas) in Paradise. 9. That a two rakah prayer is more loved by the dead person than the world and what is in it. 10. That emptying the heart for Allaah in the prayer puts a person in the same condition as the day when his mother gave birth to him. 11. That should a person enter the Fire - refuge is sought from that - the angels will remove him from it and will recognise him by the marks of prostration.[2] 12. That the prayer participates in undoing the knots which Shaytaan places at the top of ones head. 13. That the night prayer is the most excellent prayer after the obligatory prayers. 14. That the one who prays at night obtains a reward which most of mankind do not. 15. Gratitude is shown to Allaah with the (obligatory) prayer and night prayer. 16. That the prayer most loved by Allaah is the prayer of Daawood (as) which is to pray for a third of the night and to sleep for two thirds of the night.[3] 17. That has Allaah has bestowed a favour upon His servant by the hour during the night in which the supplication is answered. It is befitting for the muslim that he aspires for it and seeks to find it so that he is given the good of this world and the Hereafter. 18. That the night prayer is an evidence for righteousness and taqwaa and it expiates the sins and prevents one from falling into them. 19. That Allaah Azzawajall covers the husband and wife who help each other in performing the night prayer with His mercy. If one of them refuses the other sprinkles water on his or her face. 20. That two rakahs of prayer at night makes a person amongst the men who remember Allaah often or the women who remember Allaah often. 21. That Allaah is amazed by the man who gets up from his sleep, leaving his bedsheet, his wife and his love for her in order to perform prayer. Allaah laughs at him and informs the angels about him. 22. That there is no jealousy or competition except with regard to two men, one of whom prays at night reciting the Qur'an which Allaah has bestowed upon him. 23. That whoever recited ten verses in the night (in prayer) will not be written amongst the heedless, a Qintaar of reward will be written for him and Allaah the Exalted will say to him: "Recite and rise by one degree with every verse", until he comes to the last verse he knows. Allaah favours him by giving him eternity. 24. That whoever prays at night with a hundred verses is written amongst the devout worshippers and whoever prays with a thousand verses is written amongst the Muqantareen and whoever prays with two-hundred verses is written amongst the devout worshippers and sincere ones. 25. That the one who walks to the prayer (in the mosque) is raised in ranks and has his sins removed, both while he goes to the mosque and when he returns from it. 26. That for every step he takes he receives ten good deeds. 27. That the muslim is written amongst the worshippers from the time he leaves the house till he returns to it. 28. That the one receiving the greatest reward for the prayer is the one who walks the furthest towards it and and then the one further than him (from the mosque). 29. That one step which a servant takes to the prayer in congregation is counted as an act of charity for him. 30. That taking many steps towards the mosque is from ar-Ribaat (guarding the frontiers) 31. That every time a servant leaves for the mosque in the morning or the evening Allaah prepares for him a feast in Paradise. 32. That Allaah makes the light of those who walk throught the darkness to the mosques complete and perfect on the Day of Judgement. 33. That the reward for the one who leaves his house in a state of purity for the obligatory prayer is like the reward of the pilgrim in the state of ihraam. 34. That the one who leaves for the mosque has a guarantee from Allaah in that he should provide for him sustenance and suffice him (in his affairs). 35. That the one who walks for the prayer in congregation, after having beautified his wudhoo and travels to visit Allaah the Exalted, is bestowed with a great favour in that Allaah honours those of his servants who visit Him, and Allaah's honouring of them is increasing their Eemaan, showing benevolence to them, rewarding them, raising their ranks, removing their difficulties and making their hearts content and happy. 36. The obligation to pray in congregation. 37. That the Prophet (sas) did not make a concession for the old blind man by allowing him to leave the congregational prayer. How then can those who are fit and well be allowed a concession? 38. That whoever abandons the congregational prayer has been threatened with heedlessness and having a seal placed on his heart. 39. That staying away from the congregational prayer is a sign of hypocrisy. 40. The extreme striving of the Companions (ra) for attending the congregational prayer inspite of difficult circumstances.

Girls are like apples on trees. The best ones are at the top of the tree. The boys don't want to reach for the good ones because they're afraid of falling and getting hurt. Instead they just get the rotten apples that are on the ground, that aren't as good, but easy. So the apples at the top think that there is something wrong with them, when in reality, they are amazing. That is why we just have to be a little patient and the right boy, the one who takes a chance to find the good, right apple, will come someday... lol
