Once there were two students walking along a river. One of them just so happened to glance over at something floating in the river. It did not take long for him to realize that it was a baby! Without hesitation he jumped into the river to save the infant from drowning. When he jumped in he realized that there were at least ten more in his immediate area, all of them screaming and crying as they bobbed by. Quite naturally he started screaming to the other student. "Help! C'mon man! Get in here! Look at all of these babies! We gotta help 'em!" The other student, however, kept walking upstream, despite noticing a river full of babies, with more and more floating downstream. For every one that the first student saved, eight passed him. There were just too many."C'mon man! Don't you have a heart?! I can't grab all of these babies alone!" The second student replied, "I'm going upstream to find out who's throwing all of these babies in the river." The point of this short story is to demonstrate the importance of going to the source of the problem to have a greater impact. Many people address each of society's social ailments as separate entities. Thus we find numerous organizations that target a specific poison; The solution to racism, spouse abuse, child abuse, crime, pollution, alcohol abuse, drug addiction, and other social ills is one. Each problem does not require its own organizations and groups to eliminate it. The solutions for all of these is one. That one, is Islam.

Somali supermodel, author, activist attacked in Vienna
- Femme - replied to miles-militis's topic in General
Who do you think you are judging her? She is beautiful, she is rich and she is on t.v. You are a bunch of jealous babies. Grow up. Whatever she does is betweeen her and Allah. Do understand that the day of judgement is for a reason? Leave her alone and mind your own business. As long as she does not say anything about ALlah or Islam, then she can very well do whatever she wants. The time you are wasting insulting her, do something worthwile like reading the quran or studying. Worry about your dambi and what is on your records. Putting her down wont get you anywhere in this world or the next. Remember. The prophet SCW used to say nothing when Abu Lahab and his wife used to torment him. He never insulted them or anything. Learn by his example and say something good or keep your mouth shut. -
Right now, my job is that I'm like an ambulance chaser. I've got to look for movies with white guys falling out of them. Yeah, I love being famous. It's almost like being white, y' know? People are nice to ya, they give you the beneift o' the doubt... You drive a flash car down the freeway and the cops'll pull y'over and before they even look they like 'What the f**k are you doing?' and then they see it's you and they like 'Awww man, it's Chris Rock, it's okay, man we thought you was a nigger'. You know the world is going crazy when the best rapper is a white guy, the best golfer is a black guy, the tallest guy in the NBA is Chinese, the Swiss hold the America's Cup, France is accusing the U.S. of arrogance, Germany doesn't want to go to war, and the three most powerful men in America are named 'Bush', 'Dick', and 'Colon.' Need I say more? Every town has the same two malls: the one white people go to and the one white people used to go to.

Assalamu Alaikum. I just want to say that no one would become a muslim or be interested in learning and understanding their religion if everytime they want to ask a question people jump down their throats and accuse them of defaming Islam. When I was 15-17 years old I had so many questions to ask about Islam but when I asked my family or teachers at duqsi they all told me to have faith and Allah knows best. But doesnt Allah also say that everything happens for a reason? Well i want to know that reason rather than making it up in my own head. Exaample: I used to wonder why there were only male prophets, why the prophet said that there would be more women than men in hell, why a woman who is raped cant have an abortion, why there are no black prophets or caliphas mentioned in Isam............... These are legitamte questions to ask. Please if you dont have an answer to a question that a person asks; say you dont know but dont lecture them or tell them to have faith. That does not help. Of course there are some things that Allah only knows and we are not given a reason, but people need to be told that. I am only talking about the questions that do have an answer, like the above I mentioned. I now alhamdulliha know the answers to these questions because I ask people who have been studing the laws and teachings of Islam all their lives. My advice is that if you have a question that you feel will make people question your faith, ask an imam or go the Ask a Scholoar website, where a learned Islamic sholar will email you the answers in a simple and clear manner. (Just because your parents are muslim doesnt make you a muslim. You have to know you religion and study it until you understand and have no doubt whatsoever that is the one and true religion.)

"Yawn" I THINK ALL OF YOU GUYS SUFFER FROM AN INFERORITY COMPLEX. THIS IS THE LONGEST RUNNING DUMB QUESTION OF ALL TIME (NOTHING PERSONAL NAFTA). YOU ARE SO ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES THAT YOU WANT TO BELIEVE THAT YOUR GREAT,GREAT, GREAT, GREAT........................GRANDFATHER HAD SOME ARABIC BLOOD. I THINK THIS IS A SICK QUESTION AND IT IS CALLED THE "SLAVE MENTALITY". 1)ALL OF YOU SHOULD GO TO THE MIROR AND STRIP NAKED. WHAT COLOUR ARE YOU? ARE U WHITE SKINED? NO, THEREFORE YOU ARE NOT ARAB. 2) LOOK AT A FRIGGIN MAP AND SEE WHERE SOMALI IS 3) STOP TRYING TO BE WHO YOU ARE NOT. GOD!!!! THE AFRICAN AMERICANS ARE THE ONLY ONES WHO HAVE A LEGITIMATE RIGHT AND A GOOD REASON TO WONDER WHO THEY ARE SINCE THEY WERE RIPPED FROM THEIR COUNTRY AS SLAVES AND THEIR CULTURE, LANGUAGE AND HISTORY WAS LOST. BUT SOMALIANS?? GET A LIFE MAN. U ARE D.U.M.B.A.S.S. BLACK AFRICANS AND YOU MAKE ME ASHAMED WALAAHI.

surgery is alright as long as you are changing your body to its original form. Ex. -Gastric bypass - health reasons obviously - Getting rid of excess skin of you lost too much weight - Breast implant after a masectomy - Eye surgery if you dont want to wear glasses As long as you are informed of the risks then its your choice. But surgery for no other reason than to look better is obviously against Isam.
-
Nomad Member i think i liked you better as Lakkad. I always imagined you as a cute somali guy in a white suite and a top hat. Anyways I disagree with you once again. You have obviously had a bad encounter with an arab man as evidenced by your hostility. You are reinforcing streotypes against your muslims brothers. That is so sad

Why would I make make my husband angry enough to beat me in the first place? If that is just his character then its a problem, but if its the womans fault then a few slaps should teach her who's the boss. Ladies, Ladies, Ladies. You have to change yourself before you change your husband. If a man is angry, then there must be a good excuse. No rational, intelligent, level-headed man would beat his wife because he feels like it. You must have done something to set him off. maybe you didnt cook the food fast enough or it wasnt to his taste Maybe you werent availabe when he needed you or you werent beautifying yourself for him There are so many things a woman has to be taught by her man, and if it takes a few kicks and punches then I wholeheartedly belive its worth it. ____________________________________ (Everything above this line is a joke)

Im just joking. But its a no brainer that you shouldnt let a non mahram into your house. God!! you shouldnt even be alone in your house with your cousin and your talking about a nonrelated man.
-
Nomad Member: please tell me that ur joking What the hell is wrong with you. Why do you make any difference between 1 man and another because of race. In my opinion i would trust an arab man into my house rather than a somali.
-
Easy good deeds that you can do that wont take your time. - pray in a group instead of alone as much as possible - Read the quran while you are on the bus, or listen to it if you are driving - go the masjid at least once a week
-
Wy does everyone keep saying "YOU LET AN ARAB MAN INTO YOUR HOUSE"!!!! What makes an arab man worse than a somali, pakistani, white. The thing is you knew better. Never, ever let any man who is not a close relative in your house. First of all its haram to be alone with him regardless of his and your intentions, and second of all its not your house but your parents. You shouldnt let anyone they did not approve in their house.

Bambina, sister I meant in the Islam forum.

Thank you very much Nur for the wonderful topic. I loved all your posts and I hope you keep up with the good work. I absolutely agree with your idea. It's great, and I know that will motivate me to read more of the Quran, inshallah. I'm ashamed to say that in my years on earth I have read thousands of books yet I have not finished the Quran yet. Istaqfurullah. If I have concentrated on the quran as much as i have on my school work..... i would have memorized it over and over again. May Allah bestow his blessing upon you and your family Nur for all the good you do. Assalaamu Alaikum

Your welcome Qac Qaac. I wonder why so few people read or reply to posts that tell them how they could contribute to their community or become better muslims. I know this is in the wrong forum, but I posted this topic here because not a lot of people go the the Islam. Any ways, I pray that allah helps you and blesses you Qac Qaac. Assalamu Alaikum
-
I agree with you Qac Qaac. Isnt being stupider one of the signs of the day of judgement?
-
Plastic Surgery? lool. Depends on your taste And I would strangle anyone who says anything about personality and kindness and blah blah blah. You wouldnt give a person a chance to know you or have a relationship if they werent physically attractive. (Most people who say that are ugly anyway and they feel that they have to settle for less )

Ten Things Every Muslim Should Do American convert and writer, Yahiya Emerick, suggests ten easy things that every Muslim family can do to contribute to the betterment of Muslims and the establishment of Islam in the West. Sponsor an Orphan Before anything else, there are hungry Muslim children everywhere who have needs right now. There are several reputable relief agencies who offer orphan sponsorship programs that only cost from $20-$40 a month. You and I know that's nothing expensive on your part - so do it. Some agencies even offer automated withdrawal so you can send a letter once with a voided check and never have to fill anything out again. Doing this can make you close to the Prophet in Paradise. #2 Subscribe to at least three Muslim magazines This is practically the only way you can keep abreast of issues important to the Muslims in the West. It also supports the budding Muslim media. Even if you don't intend to read the magazines, subscribe anyway. Someone around you will read or you can leave them with others. Make it at least three and try to subscribe for 2-3 years at a time. #3 Go to the Masjid at least once a week for Salah In the West today, nearly all of us have a Masjid within driving distance. Even if you don't go to the local Masjid for Jumu'ah because of your job, then go for at least one Maghrib a week or for Zuhr on Sunday. Whatever, just go at least once a week- WITH YOUR FAMILY. It's the only way that you and your family will consider the Masjid to be your place. #4 Give your children an Islamic Education If your children go to public school, and there is no Islamic school nearby, then make sure they either get into some Sunday school program, or, if the local Masjid doesn't run it right, then pool together with some like-minded families and run your own program at somebody's house every Saturday or Sunday and conduct it the way you think it should be done. This is the minimum requirement for not losing your children to secular Christianity. #5 Buy books, cassettes and videos on Islam Buy at least one book, audio or video produced by a Muslim company or author per month. Have you ever wished that there were better items for you and your family's pleasure? Unfortunately, Muslims don't support their own writers and artists very well. No one can make even a decent living if they want to write or produce for the Muslim market. That must change if you want to see wonderful products for you and your children. Just buy one thing per month. Either out of a catalog or from your local Muslim bookstore. For you it's only $5-$10 bucks, but collectively, it can encourage our creative and talented brothers and sisters to do more. #6 "Adopt" a convert If you see any new Muslims at your Masjid, then partially "adopt" them into your family. The convert experience is basically one of isolation and loneliness. You'd be surprised to know that most converts are outright ignored by the people in the Masjid. Beyond a few pleasantries and handshakes, they are usually never made to feel welcome or accepted. They are often cut off from their non-Muslim friends and relatives so they are doubly vulnerable. A new convert should be invited into various peoples home for dinner a minimum of six times a month. Get together with others and make sure you all put the new convert on your guest list for any sort of gathering. #7 Give the gift of the Quran Keep three extra Qur'an translations and some literature in your home at all times. You never know when you'll find someone interested who wants to know more. Besides, your children read only and understand only English. (You wouldn't believe how many Muslim families don't have an English Qur'an translation in their homes! How will the child read it if they don't understand Arabic, and they never understand Arabic, even if their parents are Arabic speaking!) #8 Go to one convention a year Even if you have given up on them, you have to go. It's the only way your children will feel a part of a greater community of believers. Think about it and realize that you don't just go to a convention for your personal enrichment. It's about Muslim solidarity. Go to at least one every year. Couple it with your vacation plans or something. Just go. #9 Eat only Halal or Kosher Food Besides all the religious aspects I could mention, which are the most important, by the way, there is another advantage. You solidify your identity and introduce to your family the concept that animals should not die cruelly (like they do in all American slaughterhouses) and that Muslims eat cleaner food. If there are no Halal meat stores nearby, you'll probably find a Kosher store. At least many of the Jews are not shy about Allah's commandment there and have established kosher markets everywhere. #10 Create an Islamic environment in your home Lastly, make sure you and your family have cultural-type items in your home in abundance that are associated with Islam or Islamic culture. Everyone in your home should have prayer beads, prayer rugs, kufis, Hijabs, (even if they're worn only for prayer), gowns, posters, wall plaques, stickers, logo-shirts, Islamic screen-savers on the computer, and on and on. You want to establish an identity in your home. Everything outside is totally un-Islamic. At least let the Islamic flavor be present inside.

Although Osama bin Laden has long used videos for recruitment and garnering political support, an MTV-style music video in Britain seems to be the first radical Islamic propaganda to utilize an overtly Americanized approach to reaching Muslim youths. And it may just be catching on. Called Dirty Kuffar, which means dirty infidels (or non-believers), the slickly-produced video (which can be viewed online at http://ipnews.planetgac.com) combines cartoonish images and footage of graphic violence, and the all-English lyrics are sung in Jamaican dancehall reggae style over a beat taken directly from the very recent international smash hit Sean Paul song Get Busy. In short, it is very hip, very current, and very Americanexcept for the violent content that would make even the most hardened of gansta rappers blush. The band, Soul Salah Crew, appears as masked Muslim warriors, standing in front of the camera, moving to the music, with a Quran in one hand and a gun in the other. Interspersed with that are shocking images, such as a Russian soldier getting shot repeatedly by a Chechen rebel with a machine gun and a clearly doctored CNN news piece that ostensibly shows U.S. soldiers killing an innocent Iraqi civilian. The video also seems to make no distinction between Western leaders such as President George W. Bush and Tony Blair and U.S.-backed Arab dictators such as Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and Saudi Crown Prince Abdullah, exhorting listeners to throw them in the fire. Also to be thrown into the fire, according to the lyrics, are any Muslims who fall foul of the code, where code most likely means the Quran. It is unclear whether the video is intended to recruit or merely to preach to the (literally) converted, but there is no doubt about the intended message. The chorus is twice punctuated by the non-Gandhi-inspired line, I am going to bomb, bomb, bomb. Who would be the likely targets? The lyrics seem to hint at a possible answer with the following warning: Those who disobey the Quran will self-destruct. Dirty Kuffar is all the rage these days among rabid Muslim youths in Britain, at least according to Arab satellite broadcaster al Jazeera. And The Observer in London cites a radical Islamist, Mohammed al-Massari, who claims that the video has been selling in large quantities at mosques to the younger generation and is in heavy demand overseas. Al-Massari, though, has every incentive to hype the success of Dirty Kuffar, as he is the man responsible for initially making it available to the world, courtesy of the web site of his misleadingly-named Committee for the Defense of Legitimate Rights. Although the British-based CDLR is labeled a Saudi dissident organization, its dissent is premised on its belief that the Saudi regime isnt supportive enough of fundamentalist Islamic rule. CDLRs radical bona fides can be confirmed by a quick scan of their web site. In addition to hosting the Dirty Kuffar video, the site boasts a message board (where members post articles and have running dialogues) containing discussions such as how Jihad is actually a defensive war and how the Holocaust is the biggest lie of the 20th century. The Saudi dissident group has for years been suspected of ties to al Qaeda, and according to the Investigative Projects Steven Emerson, CDLR purchased a satellite phone for Osama bin Laden in 1998. In The Observer, al-Massari is quoted as saying, 'I believe the lyrics are only metaphorical. It is not like this is a fatwa. But as metaphors go, Dirty Kuffar seems to be awfully direct. Among the text messages that flash across the screen during the video are Be prepared for battle with the infidels and Jihad Against the Crusaders. The closing lyrics leave little doubt the sympathies of the Soul Salah Crew: Peace to Hamas and the Hizbollah / OBL (Osama bin Laden) crew be like a shining star / Like the way we destroyed the two towers Ha Ha. _______________________________ That was a great video. I recommend everyone to watch it. Its so true and very graphic violent images will make your stomach hurt.

Should you find it hard to get to sleep tonight, just remember the homeless family who has no bed to lie in. Should you have a bad day at work, think of the man who has been out of work for the last three months. Should you despair over a relationship gone bad, think of the person who has never known what it's like to love and be loved in return. Should you grieve the passing of another weekend, think of the woman in dire straits, working twelve hours a day, seven days a week, for $15 a day, just to feed her family. Should your car break down, leaving you miles away from assistance, think of the paraplegic who would love the opportunity to take that walk. Should you notice a new gray hair in the mirror, think of the cancer patient in chemo who wishes she had hair to examine. Should you find yourself the victim of other people's bitterness, ignorance, smallness or insecurities, remember, things could be worse -- you could be them. _____________________________ Guys this tells us that no matter how bad the situation we think that we are in, we should thank Allah because it could be worse.

Once upon a time, In a land far away, A beautiful independent Self-assured princess Happened upon a frog as she sat Contemplating ecological issues On the shores of an unpolluted pond In a verdant meadow near her castle. The frog hopped into the princess's lap And said: Elegant Lady, I was once a handsome prince, Until an evil witch cast a spell upon me. One kiss from you, however, And I will turn back Into a dapper, young prince that I am And then, my sweet, we can marry And setup housekeeping in yon castle With my mother, Where you can prepare my meals, Clean my clothes, bear my children And forever feel grateful and happy doing so. That night, On a repast of lightly sauteed frogs' legs Seasoned in a white wine And onion cream sauce, She chuckled to herself and thought: I don't think so!

Well, I personally dont have the energy or time to waste on searching for old topics. Besides, if people were posting interesting topics (which they are not) then we will keep going in circles, repeating what we already said in order for someone to add an interesting, and original point. P.S. I havent seen u post anything original in a while Opiniated, unless you're complaining about other's postings.

they end up having to sell their bodies to survive. Truly blessed I agree with most of the things you said sister, but i would like to clarify this qoute for me. Are you addressing somali women, or women in general? It is true that we have to lower our gaze especially in the non Islamic sociey we are living in, but what does looking for romance have to do with prostitution, drugs, and gangs.
