  1. Somerican, If it takes you that long to compose a thought..then by all means take all the time you need. Don't strain your brain in the process though. Enchantment, How cute. Your still a bloody refugee.
  2. Moth sister...It is best to ignore such people becaue they are speaking out of hatred ...one of the many chidren of ignorance. P.S Come on now. Think for a moment. Is this reall surprising considering that some somalis hate their own people depending on what tribe they belong to?
  3. What other opinons? You have to remind me...I have many...some even contradicting! I love Somalia...but Canada is techinically my home and country at this moment...and it's the one whose given me a opportunities that I might have never gotten back home. I have never been among ones who benefit from their adopted countries generosity and in the next breathe bash, moan, and complain. I like Canada and the life I have here. And if that seems unpatriotic to die-hard somalis...then so be it. But as Mr. Somerican said earler...its all in fun. Jokes!
  4. ^What the heck has Somalia done 4 me? Huh? Tell me one thing..then maybe i'll be able to croack its praises. Somerican: Since u is a more of adreamer than a realist, how about we start with the mother of all dreams, the one and the famous American Dream.Trust me, by the time u're done with it u will be talking in tongues. Done? Honey, you didn't even start! Haye...ii sheeg. Tell me about how dear uncle sam is gonna put me on his lap and hand me the world on a platter. If we shut our mouth we are dumb,if we say a word we are arrogant NOW, you get it. Tell me what so good about Canada that we have to learn u'r geography or history. At least next time you beg us for favours *axem axem* you would come prepared to impress us (not that that would change our minds!) sense like writting freeway signs in french in the middle of an english speaking country. Every country has a second language. America too---its called spanish. *sigh* Must I keep on rolling ma eyes somerican? Canadian's idea of fun is to buy the Atlas and spend sometime searching for some weird features in Canada.I say very cool, if only a cute Canadian will sit with me and point her fingers at the rivers and the national forest of Canada.Otherwise forget about it. LOL! That is so funny. And I suppose your gonna pay attention to what she's telling you huh? Who you trying to kid Somerican? If you wanna reduce the level of your ignorance when it comes to Canada...you have to take a deep breathe and turn off the id!ot box. And as horrifying it seems...at least for the first time in your life march to the library and try to work those cells in anything other than trying to guess the size of Pam's jugs. He has gone where no eagle has gone before and because of that we ain't gonna waste money on protecting an old eagle That's where the famous ungratefulness shows clear as crystal...foreshadowing dontcha think Somerican? When your too old to be of any use to the American government...ie...not being able to pay the taxes or contribute productively to the workforce...betta watch your back. They're sure as the sun gonna screw you around twice....b4 you even know what hit ya. Remember,At the end of the day, we do still spend our tax money protecting u guys with the best technology that is out there. We don't need any funding from u guys, just hop in and enjoy the ride. I hope you realize that we are just using you. As long as we are on top...we're gonna ride you to the setting sun (free too!).
  5. I am always amused by the americans ignorance coupled with misplaced arrogance concerning the geography and politics of the rest of the world. But it becomes annoying when those same mentally challenged, gun-totting, rednecks decide to open their mouths and offer opinons based on hearsay and hallucinations. The only thing we know about Canada is Pamela Anderson If you took your eyes off Pam's jugs long enough to read a book, you would've come across more interesting facts & figues in Canada. Canada is an empty freezing tundra that we should invade once the global warming makes it more habitable Let me give you a little geo lesson (b/c you dozed off in class or the school system in America is conceited enoguh to teach only american geography.)Canada has more than 10 provinces, only 2 of which can be described loosely as freezing tundra. You really need to dust the atlas and pay attention for once. Of all things on earth, canadains have a maple leaf as a national symbol Proof of our appreciation for the environment. We respect rather than screw nature. american bald eagle Which is on the endangered list as we speak. The mighty bald eagles' days of glory are soon to be ended. Ain't nothing called north America up in here.Instead use words like "in canada we do this and that" Wow. Are you serious? Listen up ma brah, Canada along with America makes up a continent called: Yes! Thats right boys and girls.... NORTH AMERICA! CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP!!!
  6. Naayaa Modesty....nimaankii baa kaa tirabatey ma istidhi? Islamarkii qaar dinaceeyga ii soo tuur intaana ku habaarin.
  7. Those are relevant points Hibo, might I just add that some of it probably has to do with the changing family structure & function in the Diaspora. Back home in the olden days, when spouses were experiencing critical marital problems and undergoing constant conflicts within the family that might ultimately result in a divorce, the whole extended family played a vital part in the outcome. Both the wife and husband consulted direclty with various family members, relatives, and 'elders' who gave them advice and tried to help them solve the problem at hand. Each person’s opinion was taken, respected, and the interests of each were sought after. Right now, the move from Somalia has spread members of families all over the world and thus people tend to depend less on their extended families when it comes to making major choices, decisions, and judgments. 3. Women have found a way to live their lives without husbands ( Thanks to welfare system) I strongly disagree with you on this. I’m not sure that it was your intention, but it comes off (to me anyway) as if your implying that it is the women's choice to end up single mothers! And for what? A check that barely passes the poverty rate? Where I am...I know women who single-handedly head families of 4-6 without the aid of their absentee husbands: not a choice per say, but a situation that fell on them. They had to either deal with it or watch their families suffer the consequences. I appauld these women for their efforts...when their husbands' only contribution to the family, it seems is dropping in once a year to impregnate them. (Not a generalization...a small population of men .) As for your idea of the workshops...I suppose it might help somewhat in the short-term. But I am a little skeptical though.
  8. Amethyst havent I always told u to think twice b4 responding to an ambigous q? You fell right into that one! P.S. Always second guess a faraax's seemingly innocent q---there is always a hidden message in it.
  9. I asked a question about representation, in EVERY POST i've made in this topic which has been IGNORED over and over again Haye...Inshallah i'll try to answer it to the best of my ability. the truth is the truth regardless of the source... If an alcoholic murderer tells you to pray 5 times a day, does it give his message any less meaning? No(that is if one was able to ignore the state of the drunkard & his ramblings...just just be able to focus soley on the message without any bias & disgust 4 the drunkard)...but honestly would someone who ignored the message from credible & reliable sources pay attention to a hypocrites preachings? a non-practising Islamic woman should not attempt to discuss matter relating to Feminism and the Islamic woman? Do you feel she's qualified if she a hard time sticking to the basic requirements such as Salah and Hijab? Thats my line of questioning.. She can do what she pleases...whether or not she would be taken seriously or paid attention to is entirely up to the audience. There's no contradiction...I see a very clear line between being advised by a hypocrite and being represented by one. What do u mean represented? Who are u talking about anyway? The core matter is the qualifications needed to speak on behalf of something you don't practice. If you do practise the religion as you should, then there is nothing to be offended by. Yes I am saying "non-practising" muslim woman has no right to discuss issues relating to the Islamic women Im not aware of u referng to specific person...so im assuming that ur talking about the girls in SOL talking about islamic issues pertaining to women and such...where does one's practice of their religion come into the discussion? How are u able to tell from one's post whether or not they are qualified to speak of these issues? What makes her a Muslim? heritage? name? Maybe we should take islamic nicknames eh? You know the answer to the q...u don't have to ask.
  10. Amethyst dearest, I was actually gonna refer specifically to u at the begining, but I wisely changed my mind. It seems that you've transformed in the last few weeks from barney the purple dinosaur to this savage little minx...I didn't want to be torn up into bloodly little pieces. P.S. Not that I give a flying rat's patooti about ur opinions....but for the heck of it...what do u percieve me as Amethyst?
  11. I personally appreciate all the married folk here, such an insightful bunch they are I also appreciate that they are honest enough to admit that they are married---it gives us homebreakers a fair warning to keep our claws to ourselves!
  12. I was trying to establish the argument that it is not fair that girls receive more heat over the same sin which two thinking individuals partake. It is for this reason that I asked you as to whether or not you would give your girls more heat over this matter than your sons I probably wouldnt (I have so much in store for my boys inshallah ). But I guess I would be more dissappointed in my daughter, b/c I expect her to be smarter.
  13. [Edit]: Nevermind. I was gonna tell you something you probably already know.
  14. It’s these boys who instigate these girls to do these things As you and every girl in the world...I am furious that there is a double standard when it comes how boys and girls and treated and judged. However, when it comes to the subject of sex, I think the responsiblity should be mainly placed squarely on the shoulders of the girl. Of course, a guy can plead, flatter, impress, charm, as much as he is humanely able to...but it takes two to tango horizontally...the girl has to agree & in most cases he isnt twisting her arm behind her back. A girl knows that the consequences on that 5 seconds of pain/pleasure are more severe on her side...that's why she should think, be careful, and not blindly jump in the bandwagon just because she "loves him" & "he loves her"... and that this is just a "test" to see how they would "click"  .
  15. I firmly believe that it takes a village to raise a child---but when that villiage is unsafe for a child to live in and the people are incompetant....what should one do?
  16. would give your daughter more heat over such issues than your son for example? Yes I would, and I'll tell you why. Because Allah entrusted the woman with the uterus...not a man. If she has sex..she can get pregnant...she also loses her virginity (whch some people can tell). A woman, therefore, has much more to lose than a man. She loses her dignity, respect, reputation, brings shame to her family, and might bring an innocent child into the world who would be ridiculed and shunned. You can never tell if a man has had sex....but it is much more difficult for a woman to hide it. Allah can judge them in the hereafter....but right now...in this dunyah...a woman is incredibly stup!d if she thinks she should be treated equally like a man when she has much more to lose. Thats just common sense. I do not want my daughter (inshallah) to feel that in order to be equal to men---she also has to copy their bad habits and expect to be treated the same. THe he did it---so it must be ok for me too! crap thats going around is making me barf!

Amethyst, I am concerned about the potential abuse and mishandling of 10-15 yr old girls. He knew just what to intice them with----an island...other little girls...no boys with their cooties...what 10-15 old girl wouldnt jump at the chance to be free from home and their parents' watchful eye? Very clever. But not good enough.

LOL. Very alturistic of you underdog. How generous, thoughtful and kind. BTW...what are u planning on doing with the money you and your gang swindle from these poor unsuspecting little girls?
  19. WHY IS IT THAT WHEN A GIRL SLEEPS WITH MEN SHE GETS CALLED A *** BUT A MAN GETS CALLED A HERO I believe girls SHOULD rightly get more heat for this!
  20. ^The old crew needs to get a life and move on. Its truly sad & somewhat pathetic the way they sit around on their fat @rses all day and talk about the golden days. ITS OVER. Get used to it...and move aside for the new members...
  21. ^ You appear to be lacking how properly read and comprehend. You also appear to be lacking a minuscule of imagination. You forgot the second "to". It's "You appear to be lacking how to properly read and comprehend".
  22. P.S. How do you 'promote' obesity? Are McDonald's, Wendy's etc. commercials part of this so-called promotion of obesity? Have you heard of the new 'study' that claims overweight people may live longer than people with normal body weight? This, of course, gives all the fast-food resturaunts the green light to continue on their path of producing cheap junk. And those overweight people would not feel so bad when they stuff that second cheeseburger down their throats and wash it down with an extra-large strawberry milkshake. Overweight people might live longer
  23. ^ I meant to say I understand why the white mother would fight for the black baby...and I sympathize with her. That's what I feel --and my feelings do not necesarily determine my actions.
  24. Mashallah. Beautiful. May we be all worthy of such a friend.
