Almost 100 organizations around the globe will protest
- Femme - replied to Libaax-Sankataabte's topic in General
I usually glance at the newspaper from time to time, although it has lost its appeal for me. I chuckled silently yesterday while noting that all of the angry reponses to the editor vehemently against the idea of introducing Shari'a were penned by non-muslims. And one even went so far as to cry for 'oppressed women' and pepper his little delusional letter with emotive words such as 'islamic terrorist' and 'muslim jihadist' seeing this as a 'truimph' and 'domination' of the 'west' by 'Islam'. Pathetic little worm. He knows as much about Sharia Law and muslim women as I know about sports. P.S. I'm glad that if muslims can't have it, neither will other religions. The fairness of it all just makes me glow inside. -
LOL@Libaan. Hadaa xanaqdid, darkaada maa ka badnaaneeysaa? Baashi, 1. I am offended that you called me 'missy'. Please take that insulting word back before I slap you so hard, your grandkids will feel it. 2. You are provoking the feminist in me when you refer to guys as 'grown up men' and girls as either 'lil chicks' or 'hags'. That is unfair, underhanded, and cruel of you. I demand a public apology with sincerity. 3. By assuming that I have made a 'typo' you are implying that I am an !diot such that I cannot recall the 4 lines I have written. If this is not a direct attack at my reading comprehension and ability to proof read, I don't know what it is. If I wrote it, read it as it is. I am old enough to re-read and correct any misktakes I have made. I am devasted by your implication and complete disregard for my feelings.

You have the right to be offended. You have the right to ignore that which offends you. You have the right to your opinion, and to defend that opinion if questioned. You have the right to speak your mind in public venues, or in your own. You have the right to make your opinions known to those willing to listen. Anything you say may, of course, be held against you in the court of public opinion. You do not have the right to insist that others hold the same opinion as you. You do not have the right to define what is offensive for others. You do not have the right to censor others in venues not your own. You have the right to remain silent. Consider exercising it. September 04, 2005 9126 Anonymous Hopefully this makes it all clear, eberyaalyahow.

Whatever makes you happy. Some people need to learn stuff the hard way. Oh well.

What's worse is... this somali gurl here is locked for 2yrs and a half, and she is 24 now. *It's just been confirmed. How could that be worse? I'd rather have 2 years than 25. 2 years is nothing compared to a quarter of a century. You have plenty of time to rebuild and experience life at 24. Oh yeah. How could I forget. Her life is more important because she is Somali.

By enlighten them you mean release the hounds on them? *Grabs fidel by the scruff of his neck* *furiously twirls him around to face her* *whispers while hastily looking around* Are you mad! Do you realize what deep shidh you could be in calling those God fearing men hounds? Oh! You poor naive man. Orod oo carar, meesha ka bax, before someone awakens & kicks ur behind to the middle of next week. P.S. "Silly rabbit". Oh! Im am so hurt. You'll just have to excuse my blubbering.

Originally posted by Castro: ^^ And who ruffled your feathers young lady? You are right, we're constantly judging so it is a moot point. You're also right in that what we do with the our judgments is what counts. But that says nothing of your stand on this issue and at the risk of using 1,200 OBTUSE labels on you, a la Kashafa , where is the beef woman? Vite! Castro, Not only are my feathers ruffled these days its seems, but plucked clean bit by extruciating bit. As for my stand on homosexuals (not homosexuality): Lets just say two events in my life changed my perpectives a little on the issue & that of jews. My favourite teacher in grade 12 was a jew. He was an amazing person. I loved him as a teacher. Kind, funny, considerate, fair...he just made the class so fun to be in. I actually looked forward to it many, many times. Then on the last day of classes---we were chatting about something and it somehow got around to the topic of religion. He nonchantly said "You know Femme, I'm not as good as you. I haven't visited a synagogue in a long time". I was shocked and stood a couple of minutes with a blank look on my face wondering "Is this the person I'm supposed to hate? How am I supposed to feel about him now? To deal with this?" A flood of memories gushed forth. The many times he complimented me on my 'beautiful' name and 'nice' hijaab. He knew I was muslim all this time and didn't treat me any different than his other students. I learned something that day and still carry that lesson with me. The other one was in first year Uni women's health class. I was paired up with an older lesbian woman for a project. Did I scream and ask to be replaced? No. Did I curse down habaar on her and tell her about the evils of her choice? No. Did I grimace in utter disgust whenver she was near me? Again No. Did I do more than the necessary with her (Ex. go for coffee, chat over lunch, talk about lesbian health and the problems theyre facing, listening to her account of lesbian lovers, being friendly and going out places, studying together? NO. ) So what did I do? I did what I had to do for the project because it affected me and I had no choice in the matter. But I didn't and would not actively seek her out and try to be friendly. I don't like homosexuals. I will not be friends with one. However, neither will I try to dish out any kind of punishment or argue and debate with them. I know my weaknesses and I shall leave some other person the responsiblity of 'enlightening' them. That is....if they are willing to listen in the first place. That is about how far my disapproval for their lifestyle goes, I will not mingle with them and act like I find it normal and right. On the other hand, I watch 'Will and grace" and laugh manically because of the antics of jack---does that make me weak? a hypocrite? a liar? I am still trying to figure that out. There you go, my friend. And just out of curiousity...what would those labels you had for me be? It's been a long time that I've been called something.

Please spare us the "we do not judge" bull shidh. We were not born yesterday. Everyone judges to a certain extent...what matters is what you do afterwards...armed with that judgement. We all judge, whether it be homosexuals or what heblaaya was wearing at that party. To deny that just makes one sound ridiculous and completely ignorant.

Animal Farm, Yeah. I just recently bought a map of the city. Im gonna try to hit all the main attractions I was too lazy to do before. Damn. Sky the problem is that I don't drive (get car sick) and I don't like asking people to take me places. So the only places I go to are those I can reach with a bus or sky train. Which Im not very familiar with. Seeing as I'm a hermit. How was the rookies? What did you do there? P.S. Just watch out for the dogs.

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL@ the clip. I am a freakin moron. LOL! I loved it. More please, Animal Farm.

1. Must absolutely stop coming to Somali weddings on time! Being 3 hours late is considered early! 2. Stop eating junk food. Just because it tastes heavenly doesn't make it healthy. There always has to be a price paid for anything good in life. 3. Stop being so paranoid. No one is out to get me. At least, not that I know of. Is there? There are alot of Dont's. Oh yeah.... Do go out more often. Anywhere. There is more to life than being in my room, watching tv, being on the computer or studying at the library. Or so I heard.

^Before you know it....you'll be addicted. Just wait. LOL@ Lazie, Why didn't I know you then, girl? Exciting & scandalous. Just the way I like it. Why did you quit? Ngonge, Its a good thing you quit don't you think? Otherwise, it would've been such a blow to your ego...when you found no one willing to....

^Some people carry off looking heavy very well...while others...lets just say...any size is shitty on their frame. *sneers*

Just wondering what your first paying job was in high school or college/university? The very first one. Does it bring back fond memories or horrific nightmares? My 16 year old brother had it better than me. He worked this summer as a camp counsellor. Went on so many field trips and explored most of vancouver while I was waking up shivering in the early morning, around 5-6 a.m, to deliver newspapers around my neighbourhood before school started (when I was around his age). Then I quit when it got too hard. Some people have it lucky compared to others.

^^^Mmmmmmmmmm, true. I just had a scalding cup of french vanilla and oatmeal cookies. Hmmmmmm. And a couple of glazed timbits. But nothing beats starbuck's strawberry & creme blended drink with a good helping of caramel on top of the whipped cream & a big hunk of coffee cake on the side. *drools*

LOL@ Castro. I believe you have nudged OG Moti out of the position as a Woman's Rights Advocate.

^What makes you say that? Cause you saw him strutting in front of the cameras pretending to kiss those spanish ladies, even with the noticable disgust and grimace on his face? I was watching Oprah Winfrey's coverage of Katrina's aftermath. The lady shed some fake tears. If you really feel bad for them....take some damn millions out of the billion dollar fortune sitting in the bank and benefitting no one. Shidh. It wouldn't hurt her. The woman makes more more in a second than I ever could in a lifetime. I think there should be a limit on the money people earn. Billions controlled by one person is just disgusting. Specially if its not being used. I also hate when celebrities come out and plead for people to donate. Apparently their name is supposed to cause people to reach deep inside their pockets. Im thinking...why the hell dont' they donate the money that they have more than enough of...than asking sad people with no money passing their time watching tv while they do nothing themselves? *Sigh* I wish I could control the world. It would be a much better place.

Shyhem, Doesn't your place of employment do record checks as part of the hiring process? Unless this came into your record after you got your current job.

West and Mike Myers had been paired up to appear about halfway through the show. Their assignment: Take turns reading a script describing the breach in the levees around New Orleans. Myers: The landscape of the city has changed dramatically, tragically and perhaps irreversibly. There is now over 25 feet of water where there was once city streets and thriving neighborhoods. West: I hate the way they portray us in the media. You see a black family, it says, "They're looting." You see a white family, it says, "They're looking for food." And, you know, it's been five days [waiting for federal help] because most of the people are black. And even for me to complain about it, I would be a hypocrite because I've tried to turn away from the TV because it's too hard to watch. I've even been shopping before even giving a donation, so now I'm calling my business manager right now to see what is the biggest amount I can give, and just to imagine if I was down there, and those are my people down there. So anybody out there that wants to do anything that we can help -- with the way America is set up to help the poor, the black people, the less well-off, as slow as possible. I mean, the Red Cross is doing everything they can. We already realize a lot of people that could help are at war right now, fighting another way -- and they've given them permission to go down and shoot us! Myers: And subtle, but in many ways even more profoundly devastating, is the lasting damage to the survivors' will to rebuild and remain in the area. The destruction of the spirit of the people of southern Louisiana and Mississippi may end up being the most tragic loss of all. West: George Bush doesn't care about black people! Myers: Please call . . . "Tonight's telecast was a live television event wrought with emotion," parent company NBC Universal said in a statement issued to the Reporters Who Cover Television after the broadcast. "Kanye West departed from the scripted comments that were prepared for him, and his opinions in no way represent the views of the networks. It would be most unfortunate if the efforts of the artists who participated tonight and the generosity of millions of Americans who are helping those in need are overshadowed by one person's opinion." Source -------------- I don't care what anybody says---that is the damn TRUTH! And Kanye is the only one brave enough and man enough to speak it. *Two thumbs and toes way up*

Im really not interested in your little threesomes people. I could care less. So stop shoving it in our faces.

When I first joined this site...I was hyperventilating out of joy (if there is such thing). In my boring little city...seeing a black face is as rare as camel meat at your local halaal shop. Im like 'yes!' finally a place to talk and exchange ideas with my somali family. *How innocent and naive I was* SOL has cured me of my insanity. I still love you---but stay the heck away from me.

Surrogates: Why go through all that trouble? Why carry another man's sperm inside you? Why do something thats clearly haraam? Why risk becoming attached to that child? Couple: Why not adopt and give already living kids a life and home?
