  1. That is true to an extent-- that ayah is refering to the people who followed the Torah & Injeel (Bible) when it was RELEVANT. When Prophet Musa & Isa were spreading the message. Those people would get their reward for submitting to Allah at that time. We have to follow the Prophet in authority at our specific time. But now the only Book that is relevant is the Qur'an and the only religion that would be accepted is Islam---because Allah perserved it in it's perfect, unchaged form. Although we believe in their original forms, the other books now are tampered with. Hope that helps, Salaam
  2. we have to be quick, I hate to say it but some seriously talented Iranian scientists will be up for grabs soon Iranians make my heart flutter as of late; they're quickly gaining up on the resident north koreans. Honestly, I wouldn't mind the President of Iran running Somalia.
  3. So SHUT UP Ok. *lowers gaze to the floor in shame*
  4. In an attempt to influence the members of the international Olympic committee on their choice of venue for the games in the year 2012, the organizers of Manchester's bid have already drawn up an itinerary and schedule of events. A copy has been leaked and is reproduced below. OPENING CEREMONY The Olympic flame will be ignited by a petrol bomb thrown by a native of the city (preferably from the Moss Side area), wearing the traditional balaclava. The flame will be contained in a large chip van situated on the roof of the stadium. THE EVENTS In previous Olympic games, Manchester's competitors have not been particularly successful. In order to redress the balance, some of the events have been altered slightly to the advantage of local 'Manchester' athletes. 100 METERS SPRINT Competitors will have to hold a video recorder and microwave oven (one in each arm) and on the sound of the starting pistol, a police dog will be released from a cage 10 yards behind the athletes. 100 METERS HURDLES As above but with added obstacles (i.e. car bonnets, hedges, gardens, fences walls etc.) HAMMER Competitors in this event may choose the type of hammer they wish to use (claw, sledge etc.) the winner will be the one who can cause the most grievous bodily harm to members of the public within the time allowed. FENCING Entrants will be asked to dispose of as much stolen silver and jewelry as possible in 5 minutes. SHOOTING A strong challenge is expected from the local men in this event. The first target will be a moving police van. In the second round, competitors will aim at a post office clerk bank teller or Securicor style wages delivery man. BOXING Entry to the boxing will be restricted to husband and wife teams, and will take place on a Friday night. The husband will be given 15 pints of lager while the wife will be told not to make him any tea when he gets home. The bout will then commence. CYCLING TIME TRIALS Competitors will be asked to break into the University bike shed and take an expensive mountain bike owned by some mummy's boy from the country on his first trip away from home. All against the clock CYCLING PURSUIT As above but the bike will be owned by a visiting member of the Australian rugby team, who will witness the theft. MODERN PENTATHLON Amended to include mugging, breaking and entering, flashing, joy riding and arson. THE MARATHON A safe route has yet to be decided , but the competitors will be issued with sharp sticks and bags with which to pick up litter on their way round the course. SWIMMING Competitors will be thrown off the bridge over the ship canal. The first three survivors back, will decide the medals MEN'S 50KM WALK Unfortunately this will have to be cancelled as the police cannot guarantee the safety of anyone walking the streets of Manchester. THE CLOSING CEREMONY Entertainment will include formation rave dancing by members of the Salford Health in the Community anti-drug campaigners, synchronized rock throwing and music by the Stockport Community Choir. The Olympic flame will be extinguished by someone dropping an old washing machine onto it from the top floor of the block of flats next to the stadium. The stadium will be then boarded up before the local athletes break into it and remove all the copper piping and the central heating boiler. Is it as bad as the joke makes it out to be? Huh?
  5. Monkey, like a typical Somali you've spoken half truths. Just the way I like my stories. Haye, sii wad sheekada.
  6. Babies, what tiny wonders. Congrats Khayr. Wish you lots of poop changing, sloopy kisses, and wailings keeping u awake at night like a proper daddy should be!
  7. ^Have you talked to her about it? What did she/the girls say about it? Thats horrible! That's why I think this will save so many girls if they parents are told right at the airport after a checkup that they run the risk of deportation when they come back or a lengthly jail time + losing their children to the system if their girls come after undergoing FGM. Do u really think any sane person is going to defy them knowing the consequences? No way. But u'd be surprised at the people who violently oppose me when I bring up the subject. Citing 'ceeb, tradition, gaalo badeena ha soo galin, etc.' and a bunch more lame excuses.
  8. Anyone who agrees girls under 15 yrs who are going to countries that practice FGM should have a full body check at the airport, raise your hand! Imagine.
  9. How many peices can a heart break into? I can't imagine the pain of watching your child turn to nothing right before your eyes. Inna lilahi wa ina Ilahey rajicuun. Oh Allah help them, forgive them. To suffer in both worlds is unthinkable. Please Donate.
  10. Abraar, I agree. There is some twisted shame tied to being 'sick' and visiting the hospital to the extent that people would endanger their own lives which baffles me. Maxaa kaa gale what pple think, isn't your health and well being more important and should be the first priority? But the people I'm talking about are usually single Mom's of young children. They seem to rationalize to themselves that they can't afford being sick (not money wise), their family needs them and they don't want to know that they have a serious problem. Which upsets me because you can get to the root of the problem and probably fix it instead of waiting, ignoring and making it worse. Years down the line is when you really can't afford to be sick but I guess pple don't think that much down the line. It's here and now. Xiin, I know what you mean. My little brother loves cough medicine ever since we got the cherry and grape flavoured, he's always running around asking 'is it time?'. LOL. And I guess the eldery need constant reassurance that theyre fine and relatively healthy.
  11. Why do most Somalis (I know it's a generalization but move past that) find it so difficult to seek help, medical wise? I know so many people who have eye problems, back pain, painful cavities, countless aches that make it painful to carry out their daily chores yet when I suggest or plead with them to go to the hospital or undergo a check up...they refuse. Their excuses? I'm busy, It's Allah's will, Those racist doctors will steal my organs, I don't trust them, It will go away eventually, I'll take care of it myself. But it never goes away. I get frustrated and stop asking them. Where did that fear come from? Do they somehow think it noble to suffer in silence?
  12. Congrats Mr. Jibis. You've now huffed and puffed your way into a most prestigious club. I was going to offer you the customary cigar but I think this is more appropraite for your amazing accomplishment. Here. Knock yourself out. No, literally knock yourself out.
  13. ^Wasn't there a hadith that said you can't be away from your family for more than 4 months? Maybe I should've paid more attention in Islamic Studies class.
  14. Scarlet, Nur isn't pleasing anybody, he is still firm in his pro-polygamy stance if you read carefully, only now he has decided to shade light to another side of the circle, although not completly. I know; that's why the lack of sincerity I feel it has takes away from the message.
  15. As one can see eNuri has caved in to the "popular demand" and rightly so I might add. That's the part that doesn't sit well with me. I love the topic -- excellent. But I'm not too sure I like the idea that he's forced to write it because he wants to satisfy/appease a couple of people. Somehow doesn't ring true in my ears. I'd rather it be something sincere no matter how much I disagree with it. My kumi iyo taano. Anywho, two thumbs up. Hope it's balanced as it is now in the future.
  16. if someone dislikes something strongly, does it mean they see it in themselves? Isn't that what I said in my initial post? You must've skipped the bracketed 'usual' though. Yes, most of the time people harp on about and try to stamp out of others the same (negative) qualities they themselves have. I don't know why you had to bring up homosexuality ---- It could mean faraaxs who've been around the block only wanting to marry pure virginal xaliimos. Or me lying when I feel the need to but throwing fits of rage (tad bit exaggerating) when my siblings or friends do. It can be anything. Anyway, I don't see how these Somali singer's careers reflects on me in any way. Why should I care just because we share a nationality. P.S. You walked right into that. I wasn't going anywhere with it.

  18. ^Ah. You spelled it right. Your a star.
  19. Don't be so quick with the labeling. I found out some time ago that people hate in others what they hide in themselves (usually).
  20. "It's negative. They don't treat black girls as beautiful people. They treat them like `*****es and hos.'" she says. Other images of young black people in the media are similarly negative. It's everywhere. I was horrified that "It's hard out here for a pimp' won the oscar for best song! It's perpetuating a stereotype and I wonder if they realized that it was more of an insult than anything. People were laughing at them --- ****** . And what's sadder, I don't think they even realized that.
  21. Your so good at leaving the task to anyone but you miyaa? And the FYI the Mods have better things to do than think up ways to entertain you. Ma garatay?
  22. Ohhhhh. Lookie here. Everyone's got an opinion but no one wants to contribute and make it interesting. *claps hands* How cute! Stuff a sock in it.
  23. ^Edited it. I was reading the paper about some woman demanding to be impregnanted with her dead/absent husband/fiance/boyfriend's sperm. Ishhh. What is the world coming to. My mistake. . *** Why do I skim over things and come to the wrong conclusions***
  24. [Edit].Oops. I was reading some article and I thought this was the same. You know about freezing sperm and impregnating whether the guy is absent or dead. Ewww. Some of my points still stand though.
