^WRONG! Life actually, my friend, revolves around the sun! Blessed, sweetie, come sit beside me and teach me to love cooking.

It's odd but when I hear these statistics I really dont care, it never bothered me and I guess it never will. You have to give it time, we've just entered the work force less than 60 years and we can't realistically expect everything to fall into place overnight. It takes time, commitment, more time. We've already covered massive ground in leaps and bounds. The gap is getting closer and closer, all we need is patience and to keep our eye on the ball. I always compare western working women to women from other countries and I've got to say, we have it good girls. Inshallah, in time there would be equal pay for equal work.

Do YOU know how to cook Xoogsade, or is cooking something that's beneath men? (<--- misleading) Chicka, Your not alone, I hate cooking with passion. I never in my life met anyone who loves cooking unless they're making a ridiculous amount of money doing so. Which reminds me, why are most chefs men, but when you expect them to do so at home...all of a sudden it's a woman's job? That really pisses me off. :mad: I'd rather see true representation in the cooking shows and the whole dangit business. Anyway, No I don't cook and when I do, it takes so much time, I'm usally left hot, tired, cranky, and thought of eating what I made and cleaning the dirty dishes makes me want to vomit. So I clean the house and my mom cooks. But let me tell you a secret : If your somali all you have to learn is to cook one variety of canjeelo, rice, pasta, beans, chicken and tea and baby, your set for life. :cool: That is after all the crap we eat day in and day out. I'm sick of it but it's easier to make it than actuallly spend the time to learn something new.

A guy who cries (death of parents/wife/children & for Allah the only exception), complains (alot), gossips and/or dresses in the dark.

Malakajabti or Mods, can u edit ur pics? It's too graphic and there is no nude pic policy here. Doesn't matter the reason.

^ Do u apply that only when it comes to religion?

I understand having the drawings for appropriate books such as medical texts and such but a book geared toward american/western people? Excuse me? Hows that going to stop women back home to put down the razor? A large majority of somalis in the west are educated enough not to want this for their girls, but were not talking about the west. What needs to be done is to go back home and teach those people who carry out the practise, those that advocate for it, and the parents that insist upon continuing this barbaric practice, the consequences, the harm it causes, how the diin deals with the subject and so on. But a book, printed in english and distributed in MN isn't going to change life back in somalia. the book is for Americans who are interested in knowing more about the traditions, values, norms, customs, and history of the Somalis. because these types of books can end up in libraries of schools, I don't think it's appropriate and takes away from the book's goals.

Sorry, Stoic. Once the baby, always the baby. The others have an advantage, they're older & leave the nest earlier but u and ur likes will always be under momma's wing. The baby is the hardest to let go off. Let me tell u a secret *its not that bad*

^^Looool. It's definitely not for everyday wear. Maybe once in a year, but that's the closest I'm ever getting to a corset. Speaking of corsets, can it be ever worn OVER a dirac and be fashionable (or at least not horrible)? I've seen them over dresses, but I'm trying to imagine them over a really pretty dirac. a variation of the below pic;

^ Not if you move to a different state. And hopefully ur not married to the 'baby' of the family, cause if u are, good luck sugar!

i don't wanna take any sides, by the wife was the one created the whole problem. now that they are divorced, the wife is claming with government that he is an abuser, an she afraid for helf self and the children. I understand that family matters can cloud ur judgement and demand ur loyalties at times but u have to know that ur not GOD, and therefore would not KNOW anything of what REALLY happened in THEIR marraige unless you were living with them and attached to them 24/7. How do you know ur brother didnt kick or punch her around? By his word only? Hmmmmm. You don't know, so don't judge sister. She might be the one who caused the problems and she might have done him wrong by calling the cops or whatnot, but there is always the possibility that he WAS was knocking her around. The point is u weren't there, u don't know, and u shouldn't go around with rumours and such (not saying that u are now). Domestic abuse is a serious business and not a cultural tradition to be swept under the rug. It's as serious as possibly imprisoning an innocent man. Look at both sides of the coin with an objective heart & eye and u can't go wrong. P.S. Yeah. I got the cap lock disease. Sue me.

I honestly find designer bags UGLY. Oh my goodness, ok so the material might be fine, but the design and colours are just horrendous! Where is the fashion police? I hyperventilate when I see the price tags for such ugly trash. If the name is all that u care for, then I understand the obession. Laakiin, walahi I find bags which are $20-60 waaaaaaaaaaaaay more beautiful then some that run in the hundreds. or This corset-purse here is sexy but impractical for a girl like me. If it can't hang off my shoulder, then buh-bye.

Very interesting article, though I'm always skeptical of these fanatical, paranoid, anarchists (the puckered face gives it away). Your thoughts? "The Somali nation abolished its central government ten years ago and became a stateless nation," the article begins. "During that time, the fears expressed by many international observers that Somalia would fall into chaos have not only not been realized, but many Somalis are finding statelessness an agreeable condition. Somalia is more peaceful, and the people are becoming more prosperous...".

Walahi mar-mar dadkaan waan ka yaabaa. Why are women who wear the hijaab treated as aliens? FYI they're supposed to be the rule rather than the exception u seem to think.

Fartun, How about somalia? I hear the experience really motivates people. :cool:

^Any chance u have Canadian friends in the business? If you do, then hook me up gurl.

A shirt that is dirty but clean on the inside is never worn because it disturbs eyesight on first glance. Pointing it out might lead the person to clean it, no? Xoogsade, Nope. I meant X to Z, cause saying A to Z would mean I'm generalizing like Mr. Alle Ubaahne, and we don't want that do we? Laakiin, the anonymity of the internet can be tempting. It's easier to discuss ideas that you've always wanted but was made to feel uncomfortable if you bought up in real life. Anyways, Believe it or not (this relevation is quite shocking) but Sheh and Rahima actually got lives and have no time nor interest to sift through a bunch of threads and act as word police. If you have a problem then do something about instead of screaming. Cause when you scream we just wanna slap you. I agree some people cross the boundaries of decency but that's people for you. We're bound to have a couple of people we don't agree with in a population of any kind. *slap*!
-
Alle-Ubaahne, Everyone is losing their xishood, from men to women, from old to young, from X to Z, if that's surprising to you then maybe you should go back under that rock.

Oh you spoiled sissies, shuddup! :mad: Your in heaven having a job where you sit on ur ungrateful bums all day and log in to post from your PC at work while some of us poor folks have to stand all day, our blood collecting in our swollen feet! :mad: Ijustwannaslapandkickandbiteandpunchya'll. :rolleyes: <--- for good measure.
