What a load of BS! I can't believe how they can attribute this to stress with a straight face. Holy Kamoley.

^Blessed, get out b4 u start hating the male species. This discussion isn't healthy.

Are you guys brave enough to talk about sex? It has nothing to do with courage, but rather with modesty. We're of course influenced and guided by our religion, culture and personal beliefs.

I think I'm going to lose my breakfast. La illaha illalah.

But I didn't like the word 'attract' u used. This religion is for ppl's benefit and we shouldn't glam it up or sex it up to appeal to wayward ppl. I didn't mean it that way. I meant that people are not given options in the Masjid, if all that is being offered is Quran lessons for children and prayer services (which are important in of themselves), many people would rather stay home or do other things. But if things that benefit them, that they could contribute in, and actually learn from (again most people who come to the masjid know how to read the Qur'an and have considerable chapters memorized, but how many know the meaning of what they're uttering? Very, very few), then they would come I believe. I would love to have lectures offered in masjid apart from the Jumca and friday nights that they typically do. I would love it and would come regularly if arabic language lessons were given and etc. But people don't have the time, funds, or maybe the interest to initiate these programs. I still believe masjids should me made 'attractive' for the believers, it's too important not to.

^As well, we'd rather not read ur 'id!otic' unnecessary opinions. Capishe? Am just wondering am I weird to feel like this or am I just a curious person. Do other people think about their future, are they paranoid like me? What should I do stay at uni and finish it, then what? What about my religion? What about the hereafter? Nameless, my good. Walahi u've described me to a T. I've been feeling out of it for close to a year now, unmotivated, not interested in either work or school. I feel like my life is just passing me by and I'm a specatator. I hate it. I hate the routine. I'm thinking about my future all the time...and that's perfectly normal. It's called a quarter-life crisis (google it ). You'll get though in Inshallah, but don't make hasty decisions in ur state. Whatever u plan to do, make sure you have a plan B to fall back on. Salaam

Need i remind you of the hadith hadith of our noble shaykh and imam, Mohammad(salalahu alayhi wa salam) when he said many MEN have reached the level of perfection but only three women have reached such level, Asiya, Mariam and Aisha. What a weak arguement. Listen to urself. Goodness. Maybe because women didn't have the opporunity to follow the prophet around and be his close companions? Huh? Has the thought occured to you? Nothing to do with deficiency in intelligence or reasoning, but all to do with the fact that the Prophet didn't mix with women as he did with men. Simple as that. Don't make things up. And if I am deficient in deen because I'm a woman, why would anyone woman be punished for not adhering to it? Answer that for me.

Excellent article, thanks for sharing Darqawi. I agree with everything the author said. Especially masjids not catering to the needs of the people. There should be programs designed to attract women and youth to the masjid, which I find sadly lacking. Most masjids have Dugsi Quran, but there should also be Islamic History, Fiqh, Aqeedah and Arabic language lessons taught. We need all these and I don't understand why it's not being offered. Knowledgeable brothers and sister should also volunteer and help the masjid out as much as they are able to. You can't just take and not give back. My local Masjid is very clean but we do have a big problem with women sitting around and gossiping amongst each other, letting their out of control chilren run around, and distrub the people listening to the lecture or lesson. How many times have I wanted to body slam them to the ground. It's really sad. We usually leave the majid, without hearing half of what the Imam said, and a big fat headache to boot.

Walahi this is just too easy, it's almost criminal Walaal, were going by research now miyaa? Well research also says more WOMEN than men are in universities, more WOMEN than men are earning degrees, more WOMEN than men do well in both school and post secondary. Now what does that say about the 'less intelligent, blah, blah' crap. Xiin, understand's what I'm saying. I'm not arguing about whether or not a woman can be a leader; for I don't see why anyone would want to jump to that position. Better people were reluctant/hesitant when asked. Allah judges them much more harshly because of their influencial and powerful positions. But I do not accept nor will I sit back and be satisfied with these baseless and demeaning reasons as to why.

^I never said anything against him. If I was refering to him I would've named him. I was being general and not refering to a specific person. I have full respect for all learned men & women, regardless of whether or not I agree with or understand their positions. I have never in my life insulted an Imam, sheik, or teacher. However, I have no respect for the 'women are less intellegent so therefore *fill in the blanks* bandwagon. Please come up with something better. I would never listen to a person who insults me just because Allah has created me a woman. I don't buy that and I never will. P.S. Rationally speaking, women should not be given positions of public office, because what is required of the one who is chosen for such a position is that he should a man of great resolve, determination, smartness, will power and good management skills. These characteristics are lacking in women because they have been created with weakness in their intellect and thinking, and with strong emotions, so electing them to such positions is not in the interests of the Muslims and does not help them to achieve greatness. This part is his own interpretation. Since he doesn't have scw after his name, I don't see why that should be set in stone. Anyway, let's stop it there. I don't want to continue it and bring dambi upon myself. Salaam.

Ibtisam, ur one lucky little devil. Would love to be in ur shoes & have a lil of ur courage, but travelling alone scares the crap out of me. I'm always envisioning the worst possible scenerio and I get so paranoid. I'm not at a point where I could do that...but if u have the time...grab ur relatives if not friends and have a blast. If you know someone from each of ur destination spots------all the better. U can take that person as an unofficial guide and stay with them. Save money and ur hide. G'luck girl. Enjoy urself.

Oh, sharp eyed Amelia. As you can see I'm way out of my depth in this one. I reacted instinctively when I read 'less intelligent' and other id!otic statements. My blood was boiling. I'll step out now b4 I embarass myself further. Good questions...but as I'm not versed in the hadith & etc. I can't really say anything. *gracefully bows out*

I guess no one asked rasulullah(saw) why a country led by a woman will never prosper. It is a heavy statement that is just suspended in the air. I actually asked my Imam that question a couple of months ago and he said that it does not mean that a woman can't run a country or that the country will not prosper because a woman is the head of it...but that it means that men must have become so useless for it to come for a woman to rule. And a nation of useless men is a loser nation so maaha? So in that sense, it won't prosper. And I would believe his version, because I don't believe in those sexist interpretations. Less intellegent? Kiss my foot.

I'm sorry, this is a serious topic, but these kind of debates always make me laugh. There are millions of sisters being denied their rights left, right and centre in the name of Islam all over the world and we get fixated on whether or not she can lead a nation. Why are the more important ones always ignored? But I digress, continue on with ur talk. For myself I'm more concerned about a sister having the right to walk down the street without a mahram, get an education, work if she wants to, drive a car, go get her own groceries, not worry about being killed for 'honour', not being mutialted for 'culture', etc. When those needs are met then we can really think about the bigger fish. It amazes me how people get all hot and bothered with the subject of women and horror of horrors, her rights in Islam. Seeing as the state of the world under the rule of men, I welcome anyone who can do better.

PRAY FOR ME.......DEAR LORD, PLEASE DON'T FORGET ABOUT ME PLEASE
- Femme - replied to Passion_4_Fashion's topic in General
Passion, I pray Allah eases it for your. Inshallah, you still have quite some time. Just make sure you get enough sleep--- If your taking all nighters...try to take 30 min naps every three or four hours. Trust me, you'll feel refreshed. When you have no ideas coming in...go for a ten minute walk or jog around wherever u are. DONT START PANICKING. You will not concentrate and it will just hinder your progress. Hope that helps. I pray that you do well. Ameen. P.S. Don't give up so quickly --- your so close! -
^Thank you. The smartest thing I've read in ages. Where were u hiding?

There can never be just 'pure friendship' no matter how much u try to convince urself. Anyway, why aren't u just satisfied with ur boys? Hadaa gabar ka heshid, don't trick her with 'friendshp'. Orod abaheed gacanteeda weydii. P.S. Comment about my somali under the threat of painful death.

There are many different kinds of jobs you can do under Law, and as long as you know ur not intentionally doing something against Islam then there is no problem. Muslims should enter different fields and represent us as a community. It's only been a year for you...that's alright..don't do the mistake I did three years ago listening to what people said. I so regret it every single day.

^ I don't see it, do you? Talking about rights is nothing if no one is acting upon them.
-
^ You should know Zu as your the poster boy for 'dressers in the dark'. Last time I saw you I was almost blinded by the combination of nean yellow windbreaker jacket and purple polka dot parachute pants. I've never seen such horror in my life. And your right, I would like nothing more than to gaze at hairy calves skinnier than mine and knobby, ashey knees.

Walaalshiis cooking is not hard, If I can learn it (thanks to one yr away from home), then anyone can do it-trust me. Well, what makes one a cook? I don't think knowing how to make canjeelo, bariis, paasto and such makes you a cook. That's not what I'm talking about when I say 'I don't know' for those are very simple and most of us knew how to make it from seeing our mothers do it at a very young age. But, do you know how to make rice three or more different ways? Can you follow and make the exact same dish in a cookbook? How many dishes somali and international dishes can you make. Etc. Etc. Take away food is bad for you and your bank. Tell that to my stomach.
