Man, that's the only time I feel sorry for guys. It must suck big time to make yourself vulnerable to rejection. Aaah. If that happened to me I would be so mortified, I would never come out of bed again

^The drawing style is ugly. The colour is ugly too, dull and listless...maybe you should watch a couple of cartoons and come back. KK: I don't think alot of us sit down and analyze disney cartoons. It's just entertainment for a couple of hours and thats it.

Nice to see you back warrior. Hows life been treating you?

Don't you guys find the Princess ugly drawn, the story completely uncreative and uninteresting and they took too damn long coming up with this. They only made this addition after years of pressure from African American groups. Now they want to half *** on the job. That is the ugliest drawing of a princess coming from Disney. My little brother can do better. And what he hell kind of ugly name is Maddy? Walt Disney is rolling out its first black princess in a new big-budget animated feature set for release in 2009 - the latest in many attempts by the company to prove its multicultural bona fides and ward off the spectre of racism that has lurked since its heyday in the 1940s and 1950s. The company chose its annual shareholders' meeting to announce that it had started production on a film called The Frog Princess, set in New Orleans and featuring an African American princess called Maddy. Thursday's meeting also took place in New Orleans - which gave Disney an extra opportunity to show its solidarity with the Crescent City in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. Company executives gave away next to nothing about the plot or characters in the film. Disney's studio chairman told reporters only that it would be scored by Randy Newman, who has worked extensively with the Disney subsidiary Pixar on the Toy Story films, A Bug's Life, Monster's Inc. and Cars. Cook added: "The film's New Orleans setting and strong princess character give the film lots of excitement and texture." The choice of a black princess is part of a long-term marketing strategy to give Disney characters as much "diversity" as possible. In 1993, Disney rolled out its first non-white princess in its animated version of Aladdin - and promptly ran into a wall of angry protests from Muslims and Arabs who said the film was racist in its depiction of a Middle East riddled with casual violence. "I come from a land, from a faraway place," ran one notorious song lyric, which was eventually changed because of the lobbying pressure, "where the caravan camels roam, where they cut off your ear if they don't like your face; it's barbaric, but hey, it's home." Disney followed that up in 1995 with Pocahontas, a retelling of the encounter between an English settler and a Native American princess so radical it spawned whole seminars at university history departments. Disney's animators also came under fire for modelling Pocahontas on the supermodel Naomi Campbell, although they countered they had in fact used Native American faces as their inspiration. The Frog Princess is written and co-directed by John Musker and Ron Clements, responsible for Aladdin and The Little Mermaid. Perhaps more significantly, the film fits into Disney's princess-oriented marketing strategy. Since 1999, the company has rolled out toys, books, clothing and other merchandise based on its eight existing film princesses - Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, Belle from Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Jasmine from Aladdin, Pocahontas and Mulan. Maddy will fit right into that product line. And she is almost sure to raise the hackles of the usual anti-Disney suspects. The days when Walt Disney was accused of blatant racism are long gone. (One particularly egregious example of that being The Jungle Book, made at the height of the civil rights movement in 1964, in which Mowgli is told he can't live with Baloo the bear because different species need to keep to themselves.) But it is still regularly accused of offering a bland, corporate, patronising vision of different ethnicities and cultures, . "Disney's message of inter-racial harmony is clear," Marlene Wurfel wrote in a tough - and funny - essay in Z magazine a few years ago. "It doesn't matter what color your skin is. What matters is that you are beautiful, good, submissive, materialistic, and willing to play the game. If you are racially other than white, you can either be a princess in 'your own country', or you can conform. You can do either of these, while celebrating your deference to the natural order of things in song."

lol@ timir and subug. Can I say ewww. That sounds very messy. DD - I actually like the second one. You can't find dresses like that here, I guess you have to order it from Muslim countries. A white dress with matching headcover is lovely. Gracias guys, she's still undecided, but I forwarded the thread to her.

Alle-ubaahne, calool kuus hypocrite, didn't you just say this Qofka dadka isku dira janada ma galo!

lol Northener, a friend of mine is getting married soon and was having difficulty deciding between traditional and modern dresses. No one still said whether there is a 'specific' somali dress for brides. Trust me, if my wedding ever comes up, you guys would all know (because I would be opening an account and I would expect alot of cash as a gift) Val, The typical somali wedding is often held in a hall. You would be overdressed in that gown amongst most guests who would wear dirac and such. Would you be comfortable in it?

^ NG: Not impressed. In fact I just might delete it. Come up with something better. You used to be funny once. I guess your humour fell away with ur hair.

Well, here is my opinon on how to save your food. Before putting it in the fridge make sure to go where everyone sees you and start licking your food. Better yet, cough on it. Iskaa your food, I bet no one would come near the fridge.

Trust me Val honey, you could lose some carbs. Thank the lady for stealing it!

WHAT THE HELL DID YA'LL EXPECT? And did you really think those people were interesting enough to have skeletons in the closet that I would waste my time unearthing? Please! Give me a break. Ngonge, I see that you still would not respect me even now that I am your better (as a mod). :@ And don't even start with my topics, the best you could do was a homosexual rat or bettle. Anyway, now this reveals to me that there are some juicy stuff that came out of it. Rahima and Zu probably got something going on, the Q is why would Val know? Why does she have her nose in everyone's business?

Rokko, when you saw the title baa cagaha wax ka dheysey miyaa? You are included. Daawo-Ubaahne, say what?

Wow. What a bunch of dimwits I'm surrounded by. They are too lazy to even take a good guess. Alright little monkeys. Here it is. All of the people in the list have over a 1000 posts yet I can probably say that 99.99999999 % of those posts were a response to a thread. They never take the initiative to start a topic of their own. In fact, not only they not contribute to the site but some of them have the audacity to complain of 'bad/lame' topics. Isn't that sad? If I was a medieval Queen (ahem) I would pour tar all over them and cover them with donkey fur. Chicken feathers are too good a quality to waste of them. Am I right or am I right here?

Whomever gave me a jilaafo (sp?) in the Women's section: When I find out who you are, you are sooo dead. Rahima, you WILL tell me. You know you waaannna. And I choose honestly over loyalty Honestly - not only are you permanent residents of hall of shame for a very good reason, but now ya'll proved to me that a large group of people doesn't necessarily mean more brainwork. MC Xamar & Kimiya - keep dreaming. Give ya'll a little hint - all of the above can be classified as parasites. I will make this feature topic (hope admin doesn't get his macaawiis in a knot over this) so that everytime you log into the General section, you bow your heads in shame.

^lol *rubs eyes and looks again* doesn't look slender to me. Thanks for trying but ya'll have been no help!

An elderly woman went into the doctor's office. When the doctor asked why she was there, she replied, "I'd like to have some birth control pills." Taken aback, the doctor thought for a minute and then said, "Excuse me, Mrs. Smith, but you're 75 years old. What possible use could you have for birth control pills?" The woman responded, "They help me sleep better." The doctor thought some more and continued, "How in the world do birth control pills help you to sleep?" The woman said, "I put them in my granddaughter's orange juice and I sleep better at night."

Traditonal Wedding Vs. Western Wedding [ Couldn't find a bigger picture] Which would you choose and why? So far, in the in the 5 Somali weddings I've attended in the past 5 years, only one girl had on traditional somali dress. The rest choose to wear the white wedding dress. I just find it odd to wear the white dress when all of your guests are wearing dirac. Anyone else feel that way? I also wanted to know whether there was a somali wedding dress. I don't think I've ever seen it or heard of it. Some people wear white dirac or guntino but is there a specific 'dress' only for a bride?

^Just like you to find a way to Put Allah in everything. I didn't ask you for a sermon, if you can't offer help with the situation....then go and read ur qur'an and stop bothering pple. Thanks Caano Geel! Good suggestion.

The problem is that my friend and the kenyan muslim girl are the only two muslim girls there (wearing the hijaab anyway). The professor in sending this to the whole class is deliberately trying to create a divide between the muslim girls and the rest of the class. That is so evil.
-
Here is the dilemma. A friend of mine is in her second to last semester of school. Her teacher is clearly islamophobic and she likes sharing her opinions with her students via email. My friend hasn't had this professor yet but she might have her next semester. This problem concerns her kenyan muslim classmate who is currently in this woman's class. This girl has been recieving emails (along with the rest of her class) calling all muslims terrorists etc. Here is an excerpt she sent me. [deleted] This email is 6 pages long full of hate and nasty accusations. The professor claims that she is forwarding her 'sons' opinions on the subject yet both girls think she's making the 'son' up and it's really her wriiting all this. Now, this is not the first email. This is actually the 4th one she sent to her class(es). The kenyan muslim girl has so far ignored the others for the sake of peace. She did not want to start up anything because she is so close to finishing school and she did not want to jeapordize her graduation. This lady is friends with alot of the professors in the program and the kenyan girl was afraid that she would take her revenge and bad mouth her to the other professors. Now, this last email was the last straw. She is debating about whether to contact the dean or Muslim Student Association or the newspaper. She is at loss and doesnt know the most productive route to take. What would you guys do in her position? I told her to save all the emails and ignore it until the end of this year when she graduates. Then when she is safe send it to every person in the school & make a big a$$ fuss.

She refused to ring the order but she did take the money! Does that count? I think people are comparing it to the hadith that says that not only can you not drink alcohol, but you can't sell, handle etc. I'm not so sure about pork though.
