  1. For those lazy sunday afternoon drives. and 1 Arab + 1 Jew= 2funky4u = Chromeo express yoursleves and dance people, you'd be surprised by the cat*****c qualities of music.
  2. ^^Having been to quite a few of these restaurants i have to say i give a wide berth to somali eateries. i always found Blue Ocean and the likes nauseating due to the truly uninviting and abhorrent aroma (maybe i was unlucky) this coupled with the bad lighting (i like to see what i'm eating) and the blaring loud music all serve to undermine the experience. The best Somali restaurant in my opinion was the one on fulham palace road in Hammersmith called The Village Restaurant. http://www.viewlondon.co.uk/restaurants/village-restaurant-info-59710.html Food was great and appetising. Reasonably priced and a fantastic service to boot. This was far superior to any other Somali restaurant i had visited. I'm not sure if its still around though.
  3. ^^LOL no but they were neighbours. Agip was underneath us. Our closest neigbours were ilmo Abdi Kulaney, we lived in the apartment above them. Its amazing how all somalis in TZ new eachother. we were a close knit group.
  4. LOL this gets interesting. I will give you some clues to see if you know who i am. I'm the last born of the family born sometime mid to late 80's. I went to Upanga nursery school. Older brothers and sisters went to Shaban Robert and Olympio Primary School. Lived near New Africa hotel and embassy (don't know if their still around) near gymkhana golf club. too much clues:p
  5. ^^ where you from Kenya or TZ, i was born in Dar but sadly cant speak the lingo, can still understand a fair bit though:D. i left when i was 5, Inshallah looking forward to learning it again as everyone in my family speaks kiswahili, and i dont which kinda sucks. i always hated that term sijui largely due to its meaning LOL.
  6. this Malawax sounds like something called Kimis mayai, if so its good stuff.
  7. My tribe is of the political kind. alpha get real bro, you calling me an idealist is ironic indeed. One day I shall have the pleasure of meeting the legendary JB in his own backyard.
  8. ^^oh mate i've experienced more than i care to reveal. Its fair to say there isnt an inch of SL's major cities i havnt set foot in. from run down shacks to the so called trendier places. Been there done that. SL is being held back by its so called policitcal system. you know not the rosy picture we like to paint for outsiders but the uglier side based on clan patronage.
  9. Welcome back Ibti, you in dusty SL for business or pleasure? Alpha theres not much to do in SL, besides working and travelling and after a while it’s incredibly boring. Sightseeing consists of waking up at dawn to witness the camel herders taking their livestock to market. Annoying intrusive neighborhood goats. Only excitement of the day consists of the so-called traffic police stopping you for a bribe on your way to work. I wonder what his excuse will be today. Tea, jaad, milk money for baby have all been used. Even when I had my driving license and vehicle logbook, I would be routinely stopped. SL, land of a warm friendly and patriotic people mired by the disease that is Qabil.
  10. This is what i remember most about SL, the wonderful light. Taken a few minutes walk from my neighbourhood.
  11. JB is that summertime? If so what a terrible place, had the worst service imaginable. I'd have to say the best eatery in Hargeisa would have to be Ambassador hotels restaurant. Other noteable places include Dalhis and the Djiboutian owned fish restauarnt near the centre of town (name escapes me), and i suppose if your into camel meat Golis was good. I've not tried these places Alpha speaks of.
  12. LOL why? we need more inspirational somalis like these young men Alpha!
