Is anyone out there watching The Killing on AMC stateside. For those who don’t know it’s a new police detective drama set in Seattle which based on a the widely acclaimed Danish show Forbrydelsen. Anyway it’s interesting to note that major event/plot/murder involves the local Somali community. Issues like terrorism, female circumcision, politics, etc... are all covered. So is anyone out there watching it, and what do they think of the way Somalis are portrayed. Its quality BTW:-)

Lol that’s good to know. There are certain folks that i talk to such as JB, Chimera, Ibti, Malaika. who I think their online persona is synonymous with who they are in the real world. Nevertheless there are some strange folks on these forums I am yet to decipher. The guy who takes the cake for sheer strangeness and everything weird has to be Polanyi. I just never understand what this guy is on about, totally random and totally baffling. (Maybe thats the point) Ahmed ina jaad aka the king of perv aka our very own budding Hugh Hefner is crass, rude and at times outrageous with his comments. But I have to admit he has grown on me, maybe it’s just my sense of humour, he may be a sex crazed comedian in real life. Definitely a troll.

Ambassador for breaky, Dalxiis for lunch, sometimes imperial and the fish restaurant in centre of town (name escapes me). Back at ambassador for dinner; mix it up with Mansoor occasionally. You see I had no choice after my near death experience. On the plus side there’s a modicum of variety on offer. Non poisonous salads, nice steaks, fish dishes, veggie dishes, desserts etc… I got to know the waiters at some of these restaurants very well, ace dudes like Ali Buur, Ahmed Dheere best waiters in the whole of SL. I love my food and this was an area I wasn’t willing to negotiate on. I tried that Golis place that sells only camel meat. Ddidnt care much for camel meat except that lovely white stuff they called Kuruus, hhmmmmmmmm lovely stuff that and some chilli paste mix. Faheema the poultry was chewy and hard as i remember it.:rolleyes:

Easting out in SL is like playing Russian roulette with your health. There is only a handful of safe eateries, hence during my last trip there my food bill totalled almost $2600 for 5 months stay. Totally worth every penny, oh those potatoes’ salads and the choice;). I decided to ‘eat out’ where locals eat and well I was in hospital for 3 days. It turns out there was a parasite in my cake. Alpha get well soon buddy, I suggest you buy raw ingredients and cook for yourself mate if you can, much safer then eating out. Or just have something like oats for breaky, and for snacks throughout the day, stock up on tuna, mayo and the likes and well you know how cheap bread is. Good luck buddy.

I’ve decided to stop visiting the politics section for my own sanity. Far too much hatred and division. What’s more disheartening is when informative and frankly optimistic yet realistic posts are cut down by lunatics. If you don’t have anything positive to say then don’t say anything at all. I'll be undertaking my CIMA training in a few months hopefully, as soon as my degree is finished my MSc. ACA not needed in my field. I hear the suicide rates for dentists and accountants are amongst the highest infact very high:eek:

^^ i've looked into this area in some detail in the past. It's only viable if one has very deep pockets or the backing of an entity like UNEP, to share costs like a PPI project. Even if you can import the critical mass required to achieve throughput efficiency, you still need to bear the costs of the support infrastructure. Somalia could become an alternative energy powerhouse, but sadly a very much needed government is missing in action. One can only hope:(
