Thank you Miskin for a wonderful topic, it's topics like this that make me love SOL.it's very sad to see some of our youth doing drugs, not only destroying their life, but in the process hurting the ones that love them.it's also very sad to see somalis that aren't doing drugs, not doing anything with their lives, considering our background.i guess they forgot that somalia is one of the poorest countries in the world if not the poorest, and illiteracy rate is very high.all the more reasons to strive to succeed when you have this opportunity.however there's hope, there's new generation that is doing something with their lives, that's either working,going to school or raising kids.when you see a confused somali youth, please make freinds with them and give advice, you may make a diffrence. once again nice topic.

Thanks yasmin and everyone else for coming forward with a much thought of topic but never debated.i for one support of a unified somalia, whether we had such a thing is debatable.i would love to see a strong unified somali that includes ogden,NFD and djibouti.in today's world you can do much more with a unified somalia rather than otherwise.on the other hand let's be realistic before we talk about uniting the old five somalia.if and when we see united somalia i say if because there's being far too many damage to see a united somalia.there's no one tripe that's going to trust another.with that said how can we unite somalia? in my humble opinion let every region built their own goverment and be independant wether that be somaliland or puntland. then in the future may be we can come toghether and discuss unification.

It's the nature of human beings to be scared of the unknown we're so blinded by that fact we forget what if we venture into that cloudy area and find something precious.i'm speaking of marying a somali single mother.as to those thinking she had a failed marriage before, there are number of reasons why marriage fails, being young is one of them.while we're quick to say it will fail again who's to say it won't.as for me if i come accross an amazing halimo who has all the qualities why should it matter if she's being married and have one or two kids, and think some of you will do the same if you've come accross someone like that.

Thanks goes out to those somali music lovers who responded to my topic.i prefer "qaraami" to the new music..there's a somali saying that goes"rag waa kii hore,hadalna waa intay yidhaahdeen" however, as some of you said i like the new music for dancing and the old one for relaxation.thanks for the tip by the way, i will check out Hanuuniye's songs.

I'm what you would call the lost generation.By this i mean i was in early teens when i left Somalia.I spent most of my teenage years in a foreign country, like i'm sure most of you have.So you could say i'm what you'd call the lost generation because i'm sad to say i wasn't prevelleged to grow up experiencing somali music like my older siblings have.I appreciate the uthencity & richness of the somali music.My favourite singers include,Hassan Adan Samatar, Mahamed Saleban, Khadra Dahir among others.I listen to it all the time in my car, in my house....so as a result of that you can find me in somali music concerts from Atlanta to Toronto to Minneapollis to Seatle.Why? May be because somali music is the only thing i have left to remember the good old days.

Remember guys this is a place where we exchange ideas,no matter how odd they are,after all everyone has the right to express his/her opionion,the least we can do is listen.this goes out to everyone including nasra. let's not attack each other instead discuss the proposed topic, let's not drift after all we want to appreciate each others contribution to topic.and remember guys just because someone says something negative about somalis it doesn't mean we have to jump the gun,this is why we have this forum,to ask ourself why that is.this is the age of discussion,after all we are young people and we want to do things diffrently.

Globalization does not necessarily mean you have to abondon nationalism.by going global that allows you to expand for trade & development it allows small business grow,in general it's good for the country's economy.at the same time you want to retain your culture,sovereignty & all that makes you nationalist..somalis have being nationals up untill 80ys.somalia is not good example of country that needs globalization what you need first is stable economy.

I want to thank those people who said the things that should've been said long time ago,however we do know somalis have problems such as tribalism instead of NATIONALISM,thinking that we are better/know more than anyone else when reality is we are inferior to other Africans.Whith that said and done the question is why do we have this problem? the answer is simple ILLITERACY.we are uneducated not by priveledge but by choice.it's not that we don't have what it takes to accomplish that,because we know somalis are very capable people, it's just sad that we chose to fucus in the wrong place,ourselves.what is it goint to take to change this? we have to come up with solutions because lets' face it wether we like it or hate it it's our country,so let's build it from here & hopefully after generations we can look this back and say (when we were barbarians)

I recently got back from London for a visit where the U.K somali ladies gave me a welcome the likes of what i can only discripe as (state visit).i have to give it to you U.K. ladies your hospitality is superior to your North American counterparts.

There's nothing wrong with meeting someone on the net.where you meet a person or how you meet them is irrelevent, wheter that be on the net on the bus,or while stuck in traffic...as long as you find this person compatable.now can a relationship between you and someone you met online work? whether that be marriage,hook-ups,etc.who's to say it won't work.you get to know the person via email,then speak to them in person,then you meet.if it doesn't work-out,it's not because you met online, it's because you're not right for each other.

What's sexy? somali ladies are sexy in general with that chocolate skin and long hair,and if baby got back and she wears that blue faded jeans! oh my goodness! that would've been your average joe,but with me if she's as gorgeous as i descripe above and she doesn't have any modesty meaning she's shallow inside and arrogant.one thing that turns me off in a woman, no matter how beautiful she is... is if she's arrogant in other words"dabeecada ka'aradan tahay" i say i would take the 300 lbs ugly woman with a pleasant personality over anytime.meaning it's all about how you present your self darling.

Is it true that we're displaced people? is it true that we move around a lot? absolutely and positively yes,but it isn't fair to portray us as the only ones who abuse the system and are on walfare,for there are millions in this country who are on walfare,immigrants or natives.as far i know i and the u.s. goverment know,not the us puplic, somalis are hard working people.most somalis send almost all their pay checks if not all.so my somali brother that's where the 7 million comes from.it isn't welfare money,it is the sweat of these skiny somali people you've seen in MN.as far as i know the only mistake the somalis made is they focused on one place,they failed to realize this country is huge. opinions are welcome
