    In His Memory!

Regardless of the subject matter, when one put is in different context, everything will sound interesting. Although I think you have more passive readers than active ones.
  2. Now that a new Operating System A-Y v.’04 has been appointed and approved by the majority of stakeholders. Do you think it will restore and eventually replaced the existing tailor-made mini systems? How will it tackle the current bugs/viruses? What makes it different and unique from the previous ones and what should the end users expect? Moreover, how does it plan to deal with its main rival SL v9.2 ? will it run parallel or simply phase out? Lets hope this system is user friendly and does not crash and burn as soon as the field testing begins, I sure wouldn’t want to see another disheartened and disappointed users.
  3. Jacaylbaro Add another to your list dude I've been using Qurancomplex.org for a while it's pretty good.

From reading some of his posts, it's typical of him to push the button that bit extra, making some responses more interesting Back to the topic, Divorce Shower sounds a bit OTT, as some of the sisters suggested, there are other ways of cheering her up and taking her mind off the matter, take her on a luxury health spa experience, Go on a Shopping spree, maybe a long vacation.
  7. ^^^ The most effective way of getting a message across is by Word of Mouth, your cousin doesn’t need to know how to use the internet or have an email account in order for him to hear about this. I know you’re concerned about his mental state, but this isn't the best way to go about "helping" him, infact you might do more harm than good in the end.
  8. Doesn't this look much better?? It’s called photo manipulation
  9. I think it is more to do with the term “Arranged Marriage†and when someone mentions it, be it consciously or subconsciously we tend to associate that with a marriage that is or about to be carried out without ones will/consent, it has negative connotations because of its history. Laakin as some of the sisters have said. It’s really no big deal whether you meet him in social gatherings, through friends or your parents; it doesn’t make a difference because at the end of the day you make the Decision Personally I wouldn’t knock it…Of course it will depend on how eligible the Faarax is
  10. Aeryn Sun LoL walahi waad iga qoslisay… There she was painting the prettiest picture about Mr Wonderful who was head over heals..until that is aad dhinaca kale tustay…oo aad tiri ala bal ukaadi…talk about suffocating oneself…she didn’t even think that far ahead…she was still in the “honeymoon period†Miskiina Back to the topic, I don’t mind being spoiled now and then, just like I wouldn’t mind spoiling him now and then, it’s a give and take…Laakin wixii waxaa ka badani becomes obsession, qof constantly kaa daba shaqaynaya waa mushaakil and eventually it will become unbearable.
  11. How do you imagine other Nomads? Never pictured a nomad and the ones I’ve seen I have met prior to SOL and they are as smart, funny and beautiful as their SOL characters… On the other hand; I did visualize the Nomads characters and found… Few Gifted ones Quite a lot Pseudo intellectuals A handful of Humorous individuals Qaar Bilaamacni ah And the odd one or two who are just few sandwiches short of a picnic
  12. Forums never really interested me; I found them to be too political, too childish or just Bilaamacni...Until one evening, I was chatting to two personal friends, who happen to be devoted members of SOL ...They made it sound very interesting & unique...and it was (interesting) there were a lot of thought-provoking debates that grabbed my attention, so here I am
  13. A.L pretty much covered the places to visit in London, but if you would like to see familiar faces (Somalis) buy yourself a one day Travelcard zones 1-6 and take a trip to Xarunta Somalida AKA Southall – Doqon ma Waaye and Wembley Faarax Square, it’s the closest thing to being back home If you’re going to Paris (France) take the Eurostar, it is relatively cheap (under £70) if you take advantage of the Youth Travel Scheme (for those under 26), otherwise book atleast 2 weeks in advance to get a cheap ticket. As for sites to visit while in Paris these places are worth checking out *Eiffel Tower - If you feel like exercising you can do a day's climb up the tower, otherwise you better have a good camera lenses *Champs Elysées - Shop till you drop then pose for the final photo at the end by the Arc de Triomphe de l'Etoile *The Pei Pyramid – This is just absolutely gorgeous inside and outside, it is also the main entrance to the Musée du Louvre. I believe it’s the biggest glass pyramid in the world. Hope that helped.
  14. ^^^ lol, let me know if you need any assistance, I hear a voodoo curse often needs a lot of preparation
  15. It appears that this Politics Forum only comes to live when Somaliland is on the menu. Don’t you people get tired of these constant and repetitive arguments/debates that are nothing short of fadhi ku dirir? Maybe you feel the need to “defend†your region; Lakiin I am sure you’re aware that at the end of the day whatever he/she says does not have an effect on the decisions that are made in the Somali Political arena, markaa maxaad la xiiqaysaan?
  16. ^^^ You're welcome, I know what you mean bro. One thing is for sure... I'A, from Monday morning things will never be the same again Just hope my work colleagues won't look at me strangely when I am humming to Magool or Cumar Dhuule
  17. lol@ Arwala, I think waxa u been sheegtay maah maahda that says “naagto boqol bay la sheekaysan midna way ka guurson†(I think that it how it goes). Markaa you can’t blame the Faarax for trying his luck Originally posted by J11: In regards to Somali women's vocabulary, there use to be a time when courtships were achieved through wit and cleverness. Those were days of the Hal-xiraale or riddles that concern sentences and their hidden meaning. Those generation of women and men were accustomed to such style of shukaansi and their command in Somali language was excellent. It was most entertaining and funny when watching the old Riwaayads that had the Shukaansi scenes, though I never fully understood, but at the end when they walked off the stage smiling and holding hands, I got the gist of it…
  18. Originally posted by Discreet1: "Education is not limited to the boundaries of a classroom" Most definitely, one can be “educated†without setting a foot in a Institution of higher education, because I honesty believe self education is the most important, as you have the ability to advance in any endeavor. However, as humans, we are all influenced by what we see and often this dictates how we conduct ourselves. Furthermore, the values and practices of contemporary society says that we must be "Educated" in order to succeed in life, thus making education the essential tool to survive. Originally posted by Viking: If a man and woman live according to the teachings of the Prophet SAWS, then it shouldn't matter who is wealthier or more learned. I couldn’t agree with you more. Lakiin with the kind of mentality some of our Somali brothers have it is almost impossible because Dhaqan usually supersedes Diin when it comes to these issues. Moreover, gender refers to society's expectations about how we should think and act as men and woman. For example, women, in our culture, are expected to be obedient housewives while, the men are expected to be the breadwinners. Personally, I don't mind…as long as we both understand each other. However, he must be more educated when it comes to the knowledge of Diin.
  19. lol@ Taqwa Thanks for setting me straight, I had a feeling my Somali interpretation was exaggerated a little, lakiin my English translation was spot on wouldn't you say Buubto Hadii la isku eego...midi waa mid… Ma Habala maanta mise Hablihii hore…? Due to excessive viewing & close observation of old majaajilo’s and after taking a field trip back home, I would say .... Hablihii hore mukur iyo ismacaaneysku wuu ku badnaa, meaning hadalada afkooga ka soo baxa iyo their body language ismay laheen, which indicated that their were "playing hard to get…" markaa I would agree with you on those basis. Laakiin hadii ay noqoto hablaha maanta.. ee qurbaha ku koray, I would have to agree with Silent Sistah… they are more forthright and candid and what they say 99% of the time is what they mean…well atleast I do.
  20. Salaamz All, Ladies why don’t we make a list of words/gestures with a brief description of what Somali woman do/say when they are communicating with the significant other. Naturally, this Somali Woman Vocabulary wouldn’t be complete without the help of our Somali brothers, so brothers feel free to ask the meaning of words/expressions that a Somali sister said/done which baffled you, I am sure our Nomad sisters would be happy to help Ok, here goes the first one…. Xalimo and Faarax have been shukaansi’ing for some time… markaa maalin maalmaha ka mid ah, Xalimo asks….. Inaabti maxaad damacday? Guys this means... Inaabti wakhtiga ha iga lumin ee cadayso hadaad guur u jeedo, meer meersi tag uma hayee go’aan gaadh, and tell me where this relationship is heading? (That is my interpretation of the above question, though I could be wrong) *** This topic was inspired by Women Vocabulary thread

For instance when they closed the Teen Section it was their decision, and no one had any say on the matter. So, it seems to me they do want the Nomads feedback on this.
  22. ^^^ Thanks for the links walaalo, you've been very helpful
  23. ^^^ Thanks for your suggestion, Laakin, I was thinking of something that had a playlist and with a bit of variety, so I don’t have to go from one site to another just to listen or download songs here and there.
  24. Hello Nomads, I thought it might be a good idea to recommend websites that allow you to listen to Somali music online. I am sure it would be beneficial for those who spend most of their time in front of a PC like myself. I don’t about you guys but my job can get very tedious and repetitive and I was getting tired of listening to online English Radios such as Choice, Kiss, Heart and Magic Fm. I know, I've discovered this a bit late…. But it just didn’t occur to me before. So here’s my recommendation for today. Somali Music
  25. I lack the entity that enables me to implement ideas….Maybe it’s because I also lack time, energy and dough.
