  1. ^^ lol Typical Farax innit Bishaaro lol, you'll be spoiled for choice.
  2. I was watching the news last night about the situation in New Orleans and noticed the reporter using the term “Refugee†while the presenter was using the term “Evacuee†to describe the same thing. Then today I’ve read in couple of sites how some Black people were complaining about the use of the term. (What! An American cannot be called a refugee?) Yes! The public perception of refugees is often a negative one and is mostly associated with the Third World. But, if we look the loose definition of the word in the dictionary “: an individual seeking refuge†(although term's definition varies wildly) it describes the situation perfectly. So why are there complaints? We are aware in the media and politics, language plays a major role and what we call a people dictates how we view and treat them...The media described the situation in New Orleans as something similar to a "Refugee Camp" in a Third World country and that’s how they will be treated. Like it or not.

  4. ^^^ Yes, I agree…but Drugs such as marijuana and cocaine are Haram. Maybe this Article will help you clear the clouds.
  5. ^^ I am talking about Somalia and according to the article it's a growing problem that needs to be addressed, you can't just dismiss it by saying oh well it's part of their lifestyle therefore it can not be tackled
  6. I wouldn’t mind turning NGONGE's Boredom thread into a Sitcom with your permission of course wouldn’t want to be sued for intellectual property rights
  7. Well what we have here…. Internet junkies…Pioneers…Experts 1991? I was in my Second year of high school reading Smash hits and Just 17 magazine after watching Neighbours and Home and Away … Didn’t discover the internet till a decade later (2001), even then it was limited, emailing only class mates and lecturers. Funny enough I spent almost all of my time in front of a PC yet I didn’t have luxury of surfing the net . I would say 2003 is when I started being active in the cyber world; never had I used a forum until then. Though it seems I haven’t missed much
  8. ^^^ It is very simple …what is more important…the future and welfare of your children or few leafs? Having a designated area for khat is a good. Look at Amsterdam, selling marijuana is legal but only in certain areas and the same rule can be applied if only people are willing to work with the system.
  9. I came across this bit of news today (though it’s few days old ) and I think it’s a fantastic idea…however, implementing it would be all but impossible without the publics support and cooperation… So Nomads… do you think it’s going to work? If not, how would you tackle this growing problem? According to the article below…Eradicating it will not be a smart move ------------------------------------------------- A mayor in Somaliland is trying to cut down on the problems caused by khat, a mild stimulant, by moving dealers to the outskirts of the city. Hussein Mohamud Jiir, mayor of the capital Hargeisa, has set aside tracts of land where he hopes to install the khat merchants. Dealers, however, say there is no point trying to restrict their activities. Khat is a natural amphetamine derived from the leaves of the Catha edulis plant. The problem of addiction in Somaliland - which has broken away from Somalia - is huge. Addicts - mostly men - will spend all their money on the drug, while their children have nothing to eat. And khat is also blamed for the small plastic bags which litter the city. Pink, blue and red bags, used to hold khat, block drains, hang on trees and fences, stick to telegraph and electricity poles, or are even eaten by goats. The mayor's plan would give each of the city's five districts its own khat "areas". Bursts into life He was confident that the plan would work. "The same thing that happens here today, used to happen in Mogadishu. Sinai market was a similar initiative. People will go to wherever there is khat," he said. The drug is grown in Ethiopia's highlands. Every day, dozens of trucks loaded with tonnes of it arrive in Hargeisa, flooding the streets by mid-morning. The city bursts into life with their arrival. People run after the trucks, some pushing carts and wheelbarrows. There are the khat sellers, bystanders, the jobless, pilferers and pickpockets, all wanting to make something out of the excitement. Khat dealer Ali Omar says there is no point trying to control the trade. "It is a silly question asking why I sell khat. Can you just walk over to the opposite store and ask why he sells foodstuffs? What a laughing matter," he said before resuming his shouts to attract customers. (this made me laugh markaan hooyo u translate gareenayey, how dare he compare the two) Single mother-of-three Amina Derie has been selling khat for three years and is unrepentant. She says the trade allows her to buy food for her children. "I even pay their school fees through it. Thanks to God, I am comfortable," she said with a knowing smile. Read more

  11. Hey Zephy, I am doing good thanks sis, How the devil are you hope you’re well. Alaina I agree, one can “seal†his/her heart to prevent any future heartache, lakiin as you’re aware a relationship is a 2way street and therefore both parties must come to a mutual agreement about the status of their relationship. Besides, how long can one guard its heart before taking the plunge? I say as “casual†as the relationship might be, eventually someone gets hurt. I wonder, are those seeking such relationships have a stamp on their forehead saying “Seeking Emotionless Relationship†I mean who decides? As Zephy said is the self-interested individual who pursue such relationship.

  15. ^^^ True…. but how many marriages are lacking trust these days… I would say about as many as the “emotionless†ones. Yet many stay together for the sake of the children. Originally posted by Brown: Ps.Such a Great topic, idle for two consecutive days? Walaal,Get your Original name. These days in sol,the Content of a topic is no longer THE reason ppl to respond to great topics. All you need ARE freinds & Peers. Matter of fact,Gone are the days when ppl debated, these days you HAVE to agree with ppl so as to get a responce. You disagree with someone(or Anyone in the Grp),ppl turn personal and or basically call you names. Ohh, is that how it works…Well thanks for the tip dearest, from now on I shall compete for this cyber popularity contest in order to have the pleasure of certain nomads pissing…I mean trolling all over the place. I do agree with you on one thing, the recent bickering and treading on each other's cyber toes has become a routine in SOL, throwing insults left right and center does not achieve anything…Grow up, maxaad sidii ciyaalka iskula tirsanayaa. There’s nothing like a little healthy criticism. Stop personalizing every damn comment people. Back to the topic… First of all, I think that humans and their emotions are inseparable and for one to think that he/she can be involved in “emotionless†relationship is lying to themselves because everything we do involve some kind emotions, but the question is to what degree of emotions does one invest. Secondly, “Emotionally unattached†is another term for “Using someone†a lot of girls use guys for whatever reason, be it their money, looks or just simply for the sake of being in a relationship….I never understood that, why invest time and energy for something you know you are not going to get anything in return? Moreover Why be unfair to someone by being in a relationship for selfish reasons? Though a lot of them (mostly woman) get trapped in that relationship after a period of time… I believe an ‘emotionless’ relationships comes as a result of previous relationships gone sour. Brown... Not always, If one was emotionally attached in their previous relationship… I think it would be very hard for them to be emotionally unattached so easily...(especially woman) sure they will put up a brave face at first and believe that they’re in control of the situation…but eventually they will crack… The mind simply cannot outthink the heart.

  18. Is there such thing as Emotionally unattached relationships? (Meaning you care about each other, you enjoy each other’s company but you don’t share a deep emotional bond) Do you think a woman is capable of being Emotionally unattached when is comes to relationships? Before I give my 2 cents worth, I would like to ask the Nomads what your take is on this?
