  2. LooL Dab yar ma shidaysid baan ku idhi…… I went to a gathering last weekend where the talented Gariyeh was giving a small but delightful presentation and funny enough he complained about the lack of Female representatives in the poetry department….Laakiin I have a feeling walee Gariyeh’s wish might just be coming true sooner than I thought Whatever inspired you to write such distressing and depressing tale… Then again, Somalis are famous for their unrequited love, so I guess it’s a good way start a lyrical journey Cawo Inankii Cawaale waxay siisay a sound advice….(waa mid yaroo iska yara hadal kulul markeeda hore ba) Markaa waxay ku tiri …. inaabti, kolay shan’shub buu hadal kuugu dhacaaye waxaan kuu sii siin marba doze sheekado shalay bay ka booday, doraadna wa kasoo talaabsatay markaa ha’ka filin shukaansi, jacayla aragiisa daa. ha is xiijin inaabti, arintu waa dhaaka’dhaako, abaal dhigid, iyo meel marin, waa habeel xalay tagay. meel aan kal’gacal dharaar ka soo toosin, xiisuhuna ugu gabal dhicin, ha isku halyn waad haraadiye, intaad dhabadana is haysid, hawlaha aduunka ha daayicin. ha duuloobin inanyahow, waa iga daacade, ha dhayalsan hadaladada, waa iga dardaarane.

  5. How come this thread has been moved to the Woman’s section ? Jacylku ma wax u gaara ah baa dumarka mise iga uun buu waalaa? Ragaa taas ku caan ahe…from Shakespeare to Cilmi Bodheri Foxy Why bother with it at all if you know there's gonna be side effects ? ....Just so you can say ohh I've "Loved" Originally posted by Legend of Zu: "Love is not good for your health" Funny tho..markaad qofka xiiso badan u qabtid bood bood aa kugu dhacaayo..ma joogi kartid. Wac ha wicin..wac ha wicin... But I dont think that is becoz of love..you get hyped up with everything you are excited about..so it is the excitement that causes the OCD... Cheers LoL sounds like you’ve been there before I agree, wax kasta oo aad ka bad’badisaa will drive you mad…and obsessing heavily over another person is truly self-destructive and unhealthy. Try and keep a well-rounded perspective on the situation, hadii kale waad isku buuqi.
  6. In 1990, a study in Italy indicated that people who have recently fallen in love have some of the symptoms of 'Obsessive Compulsive Disorder' or OCD. People with OCD behave obsessively about certain things. They might be constantly washing their hands, or need to continually check to see if the door is closed. Does love make you sad? Rather than making you happy, love could actually make you depressed. One symptom of OCD appears to be unusually low levels of the neuro-transmitter 'serotonin'. Low levels of serotonin have been associated with anxiety and depression. Italian students who claimed they had recently fallen in love were found to have serotonin levels 40% lower than their peers. However, the biochemical effect of falling in love didn't last forever. When the same students were tested after their relationship was a year old, their levels had returned to normal. One author of the study has suggested that we require this chemical response for relationships to survive. After all, we'd have to be mad to fall in love wouldn't we? Read more

  12. MAGUURAAN is a widening participation programme focused on the aspirations of London's Somali communities. Spread over the academic year. MAGUURAAN has three aims: • To raise awareness and aspirations about higher education for Somali young people and their families • To engage students in creative arts activities and explore the potential for further specialist vocational training in higher education • To involve leading representatives of Somali communities in a creative education enterprise leading to presentations at a final end of programme conference During the academic year creative arts projects will take place in three different locations in London. The intention is to develop pan-London connections between Somali communities and participating local authorities, higher education institutions and government agencies. Each project will last five days and involve young people (Years 8, 9,10 and 11). The projects will take place in the following boroughs: Ealing (spring half-term 2006: February 13th – 17th) 30 student places Camden (Easter holiday 2006: April 18th – 22nd) 30 student places Tower Hamlets (July 10th-14th) 50 student places *Year 11 Only In the autumn 2006 evidence from the programme will be profiled at a special conference at London Metropolitan University. MAGUURAAN has four learning outcomes. Students will have had: • A powerful opportunity to shape, express and celebrate their identity through creative arts activities • The opportunity to develop specific arts skills (eg music, drama, dance, video) which will complement their work in school • A range of higher education interactions with tutors and Somali student ambassadors • The opportunity to present outcomes to a special London-wide conference For further information on MAGUURAAN contact: Adrian Chappell, Director, Arts Learning Partnership (020 7320 3427) a.chappell@londonmet.ac.uk or Debi Gaskin, Administrator, Arts Learning Partnership (020 7320 1043) d.gaskin@londonmet.ac.uk Online Application So UK Nomads, spread the word...make sure your little brothers, sisters, cousins, nephew, nieces, neighbours and anyone who falls in that age category know about this event. 13. Hey Ahura LoL, Too much TV...xaasha...horta aniga Dhakhtar baa ii qoray I have heard they are alot more harsh in this series, instead of making the pitchers feel at ease they stick the knife in...
  14. This is mostly for the UK Nomads… Have you been following the Dragon's Den series on BBC2? I have been watching it for the past few weeks and I have to say… I am totally addicted; it is scary the way the Dragons scrutinize every aspect of these poor “entrepreneursâ€. Some of the ideas are worth investing even though they might not have pitched right but the concept is profitable, for instance the Irish guy that was on last night with the go-cart bicycle type thing for kids…what let him down was his presentation skills, his dress code and inability to take the Tax Man serious (laughing it off). However some of them you think, what on earth were they thinking LoL…. I suppose if one needs another to believe in their product/service they must be convinced themselves…
  15. We can sit here and play the blame game…but the fact remains is that these kids need HELP and one of the ways they can get that help is If every single one of us is willing to give up a couple of hours of our precious time to motivate/inspire a young boy/girl in our local area… We have identified the problem…now lets implement the solution. This so called Lost Generation can be found once again… But only if we work together collectively as a community…. we can accomplish great things…I say it is worth making every effort to invest in our youth.

Lakiin why shove it down peoples throat, more importantly Why would you generalize… if some decide to take a different route (i.e. marry a non-Somali) dee waa danahooga… what others do with their life should not be your concern, dantaada ku eekow… My conclusion tells me it's from self-hate, and erasing "blackness" from your offspring. Anagaa wax`aragnay, and how did you come to this conclusion I wonder. There are countless ways why one decides to marry outside their race….But the most important is waa Wax ilahay Qoray Who knows you might end up marrying one
  17. LoL@ Hitlerette Modesty , since you have little or no respect for Somali Naago .... What’s 15 to you…? They can Like or Marry whomever they please.

  24. I know few Somali Art students, but only those who are creative and passionate about Arts would actually go to University/College to study. Your average Somali would rather start a business/project (in an area such as Media/New Media) and do it Feed iyo Laag style, making the end product look like a home video with credits....There is more to Film than a script and a camera...Lets pay Attention to Detail and start catching up with the REST of the world ... p.s. I have yet to see a Professionally produced Video/DVD by Somalis for Somalis.
