Libaax the rig only arrived a couple of days ago and the site had been worked, chosen and readied and the exact location kept secret until now. But the camps and overall site had been in planning way ahead and kept of public eye.

President Faroole: "For the last three years Puntland administration we have send requests to foreign countries and brotherly nations of the world particularly countries with Oil wealth to assist us here in Puntland which has been a region neglected for decades by Somalia's governments which lacks proper roads public infrastructure such as roads, airports and other necessary public facilities. If this well which titled Leopard 1 succeeds in producing Oil I want to tell the people Puntland will no longer be requesting help from anyone."

Shabeel 1 or Leopard 1 in Dharoor Valley President Faroole says after 60 days it will be clear if there's Oil and that Puntland used to ask nations with Oil for infrastructure projects but if Oil is found then Puntland will not be asking anyone! He also said that in Nugaal Lion or Libaax in Somali 1 and 2 will start.

This is a historic day indeed.

President Cadde Muuse should be rightly praised and acknowledged for his groundwork and vision to first start this project in 2005! Of course all thanks and praise be to Allaah for this landmark day. Al-xamdulillaah.

There was a thread on this same place and I thought Khaatumo would be a fitting name as it's the name of the conference, it has historical connections I would have called it Khaatumo State too.

Today Monday 16th January the name of the new State has been announced as Khaatumo State of Somalia. It will have: 1. President and two Vice Presidents who will serve each for 6 months with the two Vice exercising equal power 2. A Parliament whose number hasn't been announced 3. A cabinet which will have 6 Ministers 4. Also an upper house for the traditional elders 5. And a guiding committee of a group called G9, the former G6 + 3 new members.
