Pretty pathetic situation... But slightly entertaing . Unfortunately for Tayshawn Price the only member of both teams not to join and who remained on the bench has now been labelled the "biggest wimp in the NBA" Kansas City Star

I would dispute the Statement that "Somaliland is a clan state". A few clans were integral in its creation and its maintance and I believe several senior positions are held by different clans currently. On another note, Worrying about the soverignty of Somaliland should be the last thing on our mind. Somalia n Somaliland both need attention at the grass roots levels through education, healthcare etc surely thats more important.

Is there any International Somali Students Group or Forum, I think it would be cool to make connections with up and coming somali leaders worldwide. Just a thought. -
Why most eligible bachelors pursuing marriage abroad?
-Nomadique- replied to Caveman's topic in General
U know what u really mean Caveman, Men go back to Somalia and elsewhere because they would rather marry a woman who will more likely hold an old view to marriage. ie A subservient woman. I actually have come across a few of these married women and some of them have such shocking attitudes towards gender relations for example one said " Men are more intellegent then women"   the others id rather not get into. Now if the true reason men marry back home is to establish ties in the motherland then im all for it, but please don't come with an excuse that women in the west are "competitors". If u havent noticed Somali women have recognised the role they can play both in building a stronger community and many of us are making the effort ot work and educate oureselves so that we can some day inshallah return with something useful to contribute to our homelands. All of my friends have recognised the need to work an make it here in this so called ""hassling and wheeling World" but havent forgotten the importance of marriage in Islam. For too long Somali women have stood by and let men do all the work outside the home and where has that left us. Ill tell u.. right here in the West in poor struggling single parent families. I mean u men screwed up our country and we women were the biggest victims of it. Do u think were gonna let u try again without us?. Hell No! The so called competitive women u talk about, dont even exist. All somali women i know recognise that in Islam family comes first. But that doesnt mean we should resign ourselves to the home only. Not that being a homemaker isnt a respectable occupation but really i think women can be quite capable of working and taking care of the family. Tell me something if all u men run of and marry girls back home what will happen to the sistahs in the west? looks like they will be forced to marry outside the community to someone who isnt so narrow minded. Now wouldnt that be a shame? -

I really dont want to write down all my favourite books (too many to name) but the two I have read recently are: The God Of Small Things Arundhati Roy and a lovely book The Life Of Pi by Yann Martel. This is a must read.

If i seemed a little revved up over this topic my bad. I certainly did not intend or hope to be seen to be looking down at anyone, rather this is something that i have been noticing at SOL sometime now. I completly understand that this was intended to be a light hearted discussion. But i guess i should just let it be...for nex time ill just ignore such posts. anywhoo i guess u wanted to change the topic... ill let someone else answer your topic but if im not mistaken i should have reached 50 posts right now.. so am i Nomad yet??

Silence i agree Not only is it a beautiful remedy. It is half of ones Iman. I think more people need to realise that Allah (swt) is the best of planners and when marriage was ordained for men and women in Islam. We should know better than the question it with a false idea that dating can somehow play a role in an Islamic society.

   Hmm sorry to ruin the mood but i actually get quite disappointed at the number of posts which seem to accept behaviour that is clearly regarded as unislamic. The way i see it just because we live in the west and some somalis happen to have adopted this whole dating thing as norm doesnt make it okay. At least remember we are still in the month of Ramadan and we could spend our time much more effectively in gaining as much benefit as possible. On another note i would like to say Eid Mubarak to everyone on Som-Online.

loooool OG Girl that was hell funny. It reminds me of a comic in a local Australian paper which was describing how everyone got to keep their old jobs due to Bush's relection. Including Osama Bin Laden, The designated bad guy.

And to think i was about to post the same topic up yesterday.. well here is my all time favourite. Birds and Beasts The bird im going to write about is the Owl. The owl cannot see at all in the day and is blind as a bat at night. I do not know much about the owl so I will go on to the Beast which I am going to choose. It is the Cow. The Cow is a mammal and it is tame. It has six sides: right, left, fore, back, upper, and below. At the back it has a tail in which is hanging a bush. With this it sends flies away so they do not fall in the milk. The head is for the purpose of growing horns and so the mouth can be somewhere. They are to butt with. The mouth is to moo with. Under the cow hangs the milk. It is arranged for milking. When the people milk the cow the milk comes and there is never any end to the supply. How the cow does it I have not learned but it makes more and more. The man cow is called the ox. It is not a mammal. The cow does not eat much but what it eats it eats twice, so it gets enough. When it is hungry it moos abd when it doesn't say anything it is because its insides is full of grass. The cow has a fine sence of smell and you can smell it far away. That is the reason for the fresh air in the country. lol it makes you wonder what they teach over there in New Zealand don't you think.

I read somewhere that Kanoute and Anelka were muslims and had visited a London Islamic school. Is their truth to this?, this is probably a really old rumour but its been such along time since ive watched any football that ive only been catchin up with all the chit chat now. http://www.muslimnews.co.uk/news/news.php?article=7481 here is an article with more info although he did say the rumours of him leaving were false.

Yeah i also think Micheal Moore is great he is a fresh change considerin the media is saturated with conservatives. I don't think he would ever work for the democrats if given an oppurtunity, at one point he supported Ralph Nader and look how that turned out ( Bush getting elected). Im lookin foward to how he will approach the next election.

A message from the people who voted against Bush. This was started by a Kerry supporter and has no become pretty popular http://72.3.131.10/ Just some examples The man who began it all
