Originally posted by Johnny B: Well, step aside everybody, its about 'TIME' Johnny takes some of your time. Firstly, Time is a Concept, and a weird one at that. The evolution of time as we know it goes back to the Greeks , Aristotle after having anylized the subject found three fundmental problems that relate to time. 1: the existence of time 2: the connection of time and change 3: the problem of continuity just as good Xiin Aristotle has the following to say quote: “So time is either change or some aspect of change; and since it is not change, it must be some aspect of change” and “ …not only we measure the movement by the time, but also the time by the movement, because they define each other” Both Xiin and Aristotle were severly criticized by St. Augustine. Reffering to the battle of Joshua against the Amorite he stated: “Let no one tell me then that time is the movement of heavenly bodies. At a mans prayer the sun stood still, so that the battle could be carried through to victory (Josh.10:12ff) the sun stopped but time went on” Then came Newton and pushed that criticism to another level by introducing the linear concept(absolute Time ). From the Absolute time came the idea of the 'relative time' demosntrating that 'absolute time'is unmeasureable and 'simultaneity' fades away. To that point some thousands of years elapsed, but it diden't take more than three years before the concept of 'timeSpace' took shape and were introduced with the following words " „The view of space and time which I wish to lay before you have sprung from the soil of experimental physics, and therein lies their strength. They are radical. Henceforth space itself, and time by itself, are doomed to fade away into mere shadows, and only a kind of union of the two will preserve an independent reality” . It took even less 'time' before the 'Dynamic time' was introduced , Yesterday i was reading about how a road in a little village in UK suddenly became a heavily trafficed spot becouse the GPS finds it the 'quickest' shortcut to a popular store,,the GPS takes into consideration that both the influence of motion and gravitational effects are relevant to 'TIME'. hence that village road. We've to skip the 'Comsological time' becouse it takes us right back to Aristotle's ideas, so let me introsuce the 'UNIVERSAL TIME' . A freind of mine thinks that to define both God or Time is to deny their existence. Is universal time not the same as time as measured by the movement of heavenly bodies as you quated above. Time as measured by our clocks is time related to the movement of the planets around the sun as stated before by positive i think. Imagine there were no sun and all was darkness ,holding all else equal, and communication was instantaneous like it is now. Then me in the uk and say someone in the us would count the same time ,since time counts instanses and that instanse we may be at different positions but we definately share that instanse. So then must we not count the same time down to the second. So then time as we now know is merely saying "the sun is at such an angle on its 360 aroung the earth or the earth around the sun, and nothing more in reality" i maybe wrong ALLAHU ACLAM.

caano geel Please read this only if you have alot of spare time for its a complete waste of time. All it is ,is my confused mind and i should do more reading and research and not bother people. Your writings on time according to the different viewpoints is an interesting read . I knew the Newtonian viewpoint and am still trying to undestand the viewpoint of Einsteins General Relativity but in all honesty i am a bit stuck here. Maybe if you understand it you will be kind enough to help me out. Well as much as i try i cant understand the speed of light as a constant or the only constant. According to my readings they say that light travels at the same speed regardless of direction of travel or even according to this vedeo on youtube regardless of how fast an object is travelling ? Now that is weird for how can light have a speed and still manage to pass pbjects at the same speed weather they are moving or not or what direction they are moving.(i understand that was from the special theory on which the general built on or something like that) The second is how time and space is woven together to form a new substance called time/space. Some imagine this to be like a matress and that heavy or massive objects cause a dent on its surface and that ,that cuases things to fall to the heavy objects rather than being pulled by them, like was believed as in gravity. If this new time/space is warped by massive objects ,things would not have been pulled into the objects, in my opinion. Cause on a three dimentional view there wont be dents on a surface but rather a streching of the time/space from within, since the massive objects can not be outside time/space but within it. So either there is no time/space unit and we then go back to the former newtonian viewpoint and just use gravity and forever time and forever space or massive objects have really the ability to pull things and space/time is a substance (much like the ether) and is pulled causing it to warp and bend. Now i believe the ether has been discarded and no one thinks it to be in existance. And i have a problem in time being incooperated into anything anyway as i said before time in my opinion does not exist.

Marcassmith I am also not very comfortable with you calling people trash and yes i am one of those you may not want in the UK i came here from Holland. I thought you made a mistake and will atleast refrain from such comments in the future if not take them back, but no you actually believe us to be euro-trash. Are you afraid that the more somalis come in the more will the brits dislike us and that may affect you and you are thus afraid ? Or maybe you have another excuss for your dislike for those coming from europe? -

Hi everybody I am also new here and hope to make some friends insha ALLAH. No one has to be my friend though that need not friendship for to allow me to share my ideas and be kind enough to share yours however contradicting to mine they are is the honour that i seek. I think macasssmith is very brave to have posted those videos and i personally hope that he not give up but learn from his mistakes and become a better communicater insha ALLAH. As soon as i am also brave enough i will start posting videos on you tube as well. I have to admit that i am along way from that myself. -
Very interesting read from you all Maansha ALLAH. I believe that there in nothing called TIME. And however much people explain it as if it has a separate existance and is part of nature all they end up saying or explaining is CHANGE or how we measure change. On the same token time travel is not possible in my opinion and there is no yesterday except in our minds or on records and there is no tommorrrow anywhere except as a possibility. I strongly think that all there is now and only now. So my opinion again is that time is neither lineal nor cyclycl nor is there something called time anywhere to be experinced ie to cause or affect change in anything. GOD BLESS
