  1. Assalamu Calaykum, Ok let me see where my name came from. I am from Hargeysa which is just Southwest of Berbera, the port town in Somaliland. I happen to love Berbera, because that is where the Red Sea waters shine, therefore I named myself after those body of waters known as the Red Sea. Basically, it has something to do with my home region in that sense. assalamu calaykum.
  2. double post, sorry about that.

The issue is not really two different languages but rather different dialects depending on what region in Somali inhabited areas you are coming from. Anyways, you will inherit mind, because I am your teacher you know. Ok so let me tell you my lesson plan today. Could you write an essay or paragraph consisting of few lines that describes YOU. I mean you don't have to expose your private profile, but just few lines that describes you of what you like, example: your favorite color, your favor car, describe Australia and the Somalis living there etc. So you can get little practice of your Somali writing ability. Assalamu Calaykum.

    Summer Time

Assalamu calaykum, Hey first and foremost don't forget to add insha Allah to any future preprations and plans that you are making. You never know what is going to happen,so that is very important. Secondly, with all your talk about summer vacations of going to and from Western or foreing land, are any of you planing to go to their homeland, you know, Somaliland/Somalia/Puntland etc.?? The only excuse that I can oft to hear is the ticket is expensive or something along those lines. But those of you going to Tanzania, you might just want to go the extra mile and see your homeland and how things are going. Nonetheless, I wish you all to have good trip inshallah, and make sure you all bring back some memories from you vacation to share with us. Jazakallahu Khayr, Assalamu Calaykum.

Now you get why I am chosen to be the teacher of the class? nabaday.
  6. Originally posted by Miskiin-Macruuf-Aqiyaar:Badda Gaduudan, widaayoow, maxaa wax bartaa adigii ayaaba ereyo dool eh wali daba socdo. Caasimad . Bridge . Assalamu Calaykum, First of all sxb, call me Badda Cas, not "Bada Guduudan". The words that I used came from an English and Arabic. I am aware the word "Caasimada" came from the Arabic language, but did you not know that most of the Somali nouns are composed from Arabic language or English. The phrase Caasimad is all too common and we all know what it means and that is the one I use and used in my home region. I rarely use the word magaalo madax. So I am only teaching of what I know, you are also welcome to teach of what you know. Adigoo ereyo dool ah isticmaaleysid, ma u maleynaayi inay suurto gasho in af Soomaali la wada barto. Caasimad waa erey Carabi. Bridge waaba iska cad yahay. Lol, sxb. Aqiyaar or should I say Akhyaarka, the word Buundo is a southern dialect sxb. I never use Bundo in my Somali vocab, therefore are you suggesting I teach something I don't use daily? By the way who said Bundo is a Somali word anyway? it could well be Italian as bridge is an English word. Marka Jaalle, adigoo raali ah, aan is wada saxno dhamaanteen. Yes I welcome your correction only if they are valid and so far I can see one; Caasimad=magaalo madax, but Bundo, I don't know what that is, it sounds an Italian to me. Jaale, itself is a made up phrase. It had never prexisted before the Barre regime, so I could also challenge the purity of the word Jaale meaning Sir. I could say it was brought about by Barre, therefore it could also been an Italian word. Use the word Mudane=sir rather. [quote Caasimad = Magaalo madax Bridge = Buundo  Once again, I could give you credit of Caasimad=magaalo madax, but most often I use caasimad, therefore you can count caasimad as a Somali word. May I ask you where did the last part of you name came from, hmm mr. Macruuf? Jilci ereyada kalena. Lahjada qaaska kuu ah aad kusoo kortay kistoo yareey, maxaa yeelay meeshaan Soomaali barad baa joogo, uu kusii wareeraayo lahjado isdaba yaacaayo hadee arkaan. Adiga laftaadu noo fududee afka sxb. Waan ku yar wareeree bahalka.Inaan dhaarto marabo laakin, I have slight understanding of you just crippled above. What is that suppose to be Somali? what city is that dialect spoken sir? I mean I can summarize of what you meant by the above statement, but honestly speaking it isn't the type Somali literature you would want to be in your books or public forum for that matter, exception would be a tranlated Indian movie though, it would sound nice in a movie, Indian movie that is. Waad mahadsantay Mudane Miskiin Caan iyo kii laxushmeeyowba. To Ms. Nameless chick, I thought you said you had a baby boy there, my apologies sis. I still don't get what you meant by UNI? mind explaining to me what that is? Mahadsanid. Assalamu Calaykum.

Deentayda iyo uni-kayda ??? waa farabanin. ASSALAMU CALAYKUM, May I ask you what you meant by the one I highlighted? Caasimada=capital city ( you got it right). leader=hogaamiye wadoonyinka=roads ( you right). please always note, you can reply anytime you have some time to spare. I will check back if you replied, so you don't have to respond instantly right away. So let me try to see if I understand correctly of what you wrote in Somali ms.Chick. I percieved your comments as something like these. Danahayga kale iyo cunigayga ayaa waqti badan iga qaata. meaning, my other affairs took up my time, is that what you meant? Lastly, remember as I told you before, you were the only one with that ambition to acquire knowledge. I always had that in the back of my mind, and I knew also that most of the student pretenders were going to drop the class after few days,so Ignore them and keep striving forward. Hopefully, I will get some books containing Somali short stories that can help you even more, and I mean it seriously, so keep it up sis. assalamu Calaykum.
  8. assalamu Calaykum, The teacher of this class is I mr. Red Sea. I was chosen unanimously to teach this class by my students, therefore no other teacher is therefore necessary. This class has rules and regulations in place therefore everyone needs to comply with the rules. Mr. Xiinfaniin, which part of what I have said don't you get it my friend? if you don't get my northern accent, then I can always adjust to the one that you feel the most comfortable; I am multi talented you know! To the sisters, remember there are no deadlines to when you need to sign up, as long as you are serious to acquire some knowledge. I repeat everyone is welcome regardless of their gender, the only reason I prefer students who are girls is because guys are trouble makers not to mention that they lack the determination to learn. Finally, Mr. Rudy, what do you mean you are the teacher, as far as I know there is only one teacher and I gues we all know who that is. My friend you are first timer, and all of suddent you claiming the title of the teacher. Assalamu Calaykum class.
  9. assalamu calaykum, Good try Ms. nameless, in fact you have done very well on that first part, but I can't grade it until you try the rest. Just give it your best shot. The rest goes along the lines of what is included in the first lines. One more thing, it's Macalim or Mucalim not Mucalam. Fasal=class room. Subject= maado. If you find the rest difficult then try this. Aniga magacayga waxaa layidhaahdaa Red Sea, waxaan ku dhashay magaalada Hargeysa xille aan idiin sheegi doonin. Magaalada Hargeysi waa magaalo wayn oo qurux badan. Markasta oo aan yidhaahdo magaceeda, waxaan xasuustaa quruxdii Hargeysa. Wadoonyinkeeda waaweyn, ubaxayadeeda ku yaala wadoonyinka, bridgkii waynaa ee dhex marayey magaalada dhexdeeda, iyo Masjid Al Jamicii weynaa ee caasimada Hargeysa. Now try that sis. Assalamu Calaykum,
  10. ASSALAMU CALAYKUM, My brothers Jaylaani and Soo Maal fadlan bartan bar Allah bustaha inoo dhiga. Hadal haamo lagama buuxshee, inaga daaya, bahalkan hadalka layidhaahdaa wuu sii soconayaa uun hadii aad sii daba socotaan uun. Markaa bartaa inoogu joojiya imika. Assalamu Calaykum.
  11. ASSALAMU CALAYKUM, MR. JAYLAANI don't get me wrong, you can say whatever you like to say, but there should be some limitations on what you say. You seem to be still continuing to insult Soo Maal. There are otherways that you can express your opinion, insulting your brothers isn't one of them. Once again you are entitled to your opinion but please keep it clean for all of us would you sir? thanks for your cooperation. Assalamu calaykum.
  12. Assalamu Calaykum class. The class in session and I can see few more students have signed up for the class, good to see that and they are mostly girls. Well look at you Mr. Khalaf being nice finally, good for you. Ok, let me get to the questions that I have asked last week that no body seems to know as of yet. first I asked what is the name of female and male elephants in somali. Some simply translated the word elephant into Somali meanig Maroodi. So that is not what I was exactly looking for. The male Moroodi is called Arbe and the female Qalanjo. I hope you students are taking notes, I might give you pop Quiz, who knows when. The second question I think went something like, to tell me a Somali phrase that has many different sayings and it's the term "look" in Somali. Look=Eeg/Fiiri/day/dhowr/and so on. You are welcome to add, write your responses in Somali please. Ms. Ibt, are you questioning my ability to teach these students? I doubt you can do better than I. Ms. Nameless Chick was chating with one boy in class, so that is not partly my fault, now she seams to be up to the task, so count me on from this day forth. Gabadha la yidhaa Nameless chick fadlan si fiican ii maqal. Waxaan kaa rabaa in markasta oo aad qolkan ama fasalka soo gashid in aad na wada salaanto sida diinta iyo dadka islaamka ucaadada ah magaratay. Hana igu qaldamin, anigu ardaydayda lama haasaawo, taa waa wax khalaf iska yidhi magaratay walalo. Can anyone of you Somali learnig girls interpret that for me in English or just summarize what I have said there. Assalamu Calaykum.
  13. Assalamu Calaykum, My advice would be to read the Quran and think about the hereafer and Allah more. That is when the biggest test will occur, if you think about that then this won't be a big deal. I hope you that Allah makes the road of life smooth for you, and make your troubles ease. Remember one more think, all this are worldly things, just do them and don't let them affect your other activities. Once again pray to Allah and read the Quran, that is a proven medicine. Allah said prayers and asking God for forgiveness does the heart a fine rest. Once again congrats for making this far and wish you the best in the future. Be little careful that Allah doesn't forget anything so have faith in him and Allah will deliver for you anything that you need. Just say before you right your next 25,000 words. Tawakaltu Cala Allah wakafaa Billahi wakiilaa. Assalamu Calaykum.
  14. Assalamu Calaykum, Mr. Suldaanka with all due respect I think you are not helping anyone from Somaliland with your comments. Tell me what is that you do for Somaliland other than being "Fadhi ku dirir"? Mr. Dahir Riyale Kahin is not a good man, he used to serve for the Siyad Barre that we all hate, meaning he took a part of whatever Siyad Barre did being good or bad. Mr. Nayruus, I think you are not helping the situation either, because all you do is talk about the warlord government elected on foreign soil. I said to you go think of something else that will solve our problems rather than beating the drums of the warlord government. One last note, be careful briging anything suggesting Christianity to this forum, the people living in Somaliland are all Muslims, they love their religion and they practice what was aspire by Allah to them. The term Somaliland has nothing to do with the queen of England my friend. If you said British Somaliland then you might have point, but that is not the case at the moment. Both Somaliland and Somalia are backed by England and Ethiopia, therefore who is actually to blame here? each leader of every region is doing it for the sake of maintaining power and name. Assalamu calaykum.
  15. Assalamu Calaykum, Let me make two quick comments without getting involved in something else. Let me clearly state how I see everything in Somaliand as well as Somalia. As a Muslim individual, I believe unity and being united as Muslims is great a thing. I would choose unity over seprateness in anyday of the week. Today there are many problems in all of Somali regions, whether it's lawleness in the South, luck of recognition in the north, luck of development in Western Somalis and so forth. In order to tackle this issues we need to look at them in a fairway that is beneficial to all of us. Which brings me to my point that. The case in Somaliland is that they don't feel that unity with the rest of Somalia will benefit them, but replay what has taken place in past, because they want a government that they have full control over for themselves as well as a government that they can dictate rather than share that power with someone else. In the South, there has been no progress towards peace whatsoever even including the currently elected so call government. The current government in Somalia consists of parliament that is mostly if not 100% warlords that are as we speak right now fighting amongst themselves and sheding blood of the people whom they were elected to govern. The president himselves is not a truthworthy president, because he himself was a warlord and many still considered him as a warlord that lacks the fundamental skills to lead a nation. With all that said about both sides, we must now try to figure out what the solution would be to the crisis occuring in both areas, although the South is by far worse. We must ask ourselves, we have said enough, we have shed the blood of others enough, so what is the solution now? Is the solution electing a former head of the NSS (Siyad Barre secret oppresive Police), or is it electing a warlord along with bunch of current warlords making the policy and the future of the south? I from someone from Hargeysa, who loves Somaliland and supports the hard work and development of Somaliland, I must say the best for Somaliland and Somalia as well as all other regions in Somali regions is to come together and then elect a leader and I mean a leader. Someone from any tribe that will govern the country with the guidlines written down before us by Allah almighty. Someone that is trustworthy and trusted by everyone in every tribe and every region. If that happens I will be, by Allah the first one to support and stand along side with that type of government. We need a leader that will transform the whole Somali society into a God fearing people that love each other as first being Muslims (most important one), Somalis second, and finally as fellow kinsmen. We need someone that knows the responsibility of leading a nation, someone that does things for the sake of his people and for the sake of fearing Allah, exalted in might. Before any of that happens, I shall refuse to blame anyside, because neither side is right in my view. One side claims that they were their own seperate nation before anything else, while the other side claims that Somaliland is part of Somalia therefore they need to come under this new government consisting of former and current warlords. You be the judge on who is right and who is wrong, because in my view as I said neither side is right. Both sides are saying what they are saying for their own benefits. Riyale wants to rule Somaliland and be the President, while Abdullahi Yusuf wants to rule Somalia and be the top "Dog". It's all about power and politics and no plan whatsoever that will benefit the people. I personally don't expect any good from Riyale and his loyalists and I don't expect anything good from Abdullahi Yusuf and his made up warlord parliament. I don't fall for all the Somaliwanye banner, it sure would be nice to have a real Somaliwayne, but as I can sense from many nomads in this site and many other Somalis, it's not necessarily in their heart for what they preach; Somaliwayne, and you dear friend Soo Maal are the only one I can sense that would like something good to happen for all Somalis and we thank you for that. The other comments regarding Jaylaani calling Soo Maal. The one with a peanut size brain, Subxana Allah. I must say that is a pure insult to anyone, if you Mr. Jaylaani would like our region of Somaliland to be respected by others, you must respect other Somalis regions that they call home, that's if you are honest person. You are a Muslim person and that is the most important thing, you shouldn't use bad name calling to try to put down your brother in Islam as well as your Somali. It's prohibited in Islam and if anything would stop you from insulting others then I say Islam is and you must apologize for your inexcusible comments, that is if you are good Muslim. Just because we type words into computer screen doesn't mean it won't be judge by Allah, it counts in the hereafter for your information sir. Thanks, Assalamu Calaykum.
  16. Assalamu Calaykum, These reports illy comprehend with the truth on the ground. They are labeling one side as being a "clan milia" and the other side of being a security forces. I am not siding with anyone nor do I have the intentions to do so, but I just think that all the Somali sites, newspapers, and articles are tribally motivated, therefore they speak with no truth all, rather they tell one exagerated side of the story. Assalamu Calaykum.
  17. Assalamu Calaykum, Salaan Sare sxb. Soo Maal. I have been aware of the advancement and the development made in Laas Canood city in my part, waana Ilaahay mahadii to see them happy and living peacefully. Peace is hard to find, and usually where there is peace there is development and prosperity taking place, certainly that seems to be the case in Las Anod city. Thanks for the postings brother. Assalamu Calaykum.

Or if you are born where you live now, you or your family, have probably moved around alot. That it self is being a nomad. You don't have to live in undeveloped country to be a nomad, you could be modern nomad such as most of Somalis living in the diapora. Assalmu Calaykum.
  19. Assalamu calaykum, First and foremost let me respond to my male student Mr. Khalaf, I would never empose any sever punishments on you, but I think the ladies aren't the trouble makers here. I am sensing that you have came to this class carrying different purposes in your mind. The girls are already covered, therefore no need for me to tell them to cover up, because remember this isn't a Dugsi,it's rather a Language learning class. They get their religious learnings in other Islamic weekend schools. Secondly, after I had reveiwed who caused the disturbance in the class, I have found out that it was YOU; mr. Khalaf. The girls have their share as well as I hehe did, let us move on now. Anyways you are always the loudest one in class and if that doesn't stop mr. Khalaf, I might have to suspend you from the class for good, then transform this class into ladies only class. Probably I won't do that, but I certainly have the power to do such, so don't push it now son. Mr. Khalaf, you are good guy and I like having you in my class, but sometimes you need to act like matuer adult and give the girls as well as yourself a chance to acquire some knowledge. I think that only fair enough, wouldn't you think? Moreover, regarding about my question about the Somali terms used for Male and female elephants.Good try though, but it's not exactly Maroodi. So far you have given me the translation of elephant in Somali but not the names of Male and Female maroodi in Somali. I await your answers folks and don't forget my other question. In addition, your question which was regarding the different of Beer, meaning liver by the way not heart, and beer (garden). They are the same in writing, but as far as meaning they are world's apart, as are many other words that share the same spelling on a paper or on a screen, like inan (female or boy) and inan, now you tell the difference between those? Maybe whoever ask you that Vibe, meant what is the difference on how you say them? you say the E longer in beeer (garden) while shorten the ber (liver). Again as far writing go, they are the saaaaame, what more do you need to know? Finally, Ms. Ibt. and Nameless Chick, I encourage you to read more Somali books or writing to enhance your ability to read fluent in Somali. If you can even attemp to read some Somali, you are more than half way there, but you should have told me that, because I started you with the alphabets, while you are girl who is ready to write Somali letters back home.Remember as I have adviced you, don't read Somali works that have something to do with politics and tribilsm, they are filty and are good for nothing. Assalamu Calaykum.

In any case, i don't think this is a the place, nor time. No one can judge him or anyone else, for no one is that special. ONLY GOD CAN JUDGE. assalamu calaykum, Yes as you said, God is the only judge, but I think you should refer to his replies to some other threads particulary the one titled "Afghan Man faces death", and see what he had to say about that. I speak from experience, I am not judging him on what he had to say here, but many people have to put with his nonesense before like McXamar, ask him he probably know. Assalamu Calaykum.
  21. ASSALAMU CALAYKUM, Wait a minute, when did this place turned into playground hey? You know something this is a class room, when you want to join the class, you have to go through a process called "signing up". Besides I had no idea people were so urgent to learn how to read and write the Somali language. I must admit that I have made crucial mistake at first when I started the lessons right away. I should have put rules in place first before I could do anything to avoid these kind of things. If there are any new members, they need to sign up in the front office located in Wadada qalanqalo iyo kalabaydh, right next to Aw Farah's office. I gues I should have thought about discipline first, because I knew some guys would come into my class and bug the girls who are ready to acquire some knowledge. As a punishment I am giving you a quiz that would make wet your pants or dress. Quiz: answer either of the following questions. 1. Name the Somali term or phrase that can have or be express in 9 same ways? 2. Name of the male and female elephants are call in Somali? don't get temper with me now students, you made me strict after I say I loosen up the rules for you. Ileen Somali waa Somali. Lastly, Ms. Nameless chick how can you quote MMA's Somali words if you said that you couldn't read Somali at all or is my magic working already? I await an explanation from you. Remember, if you would like more info of this class, please do visit my website at www.doodle.yahoo/hotmail/awfarah.email.class.Afsomali.com Thanks, assalamu calaykum
  22. ASSALAMU CALAYKUM, Sb silence, what do you know, you live in Canada!! Secondly, who do you think Allah is? one who excepts a prayer from an individual who himself needs to be saved from himself. You oughta think of yourself first, before you do try to pray for others particularly a non believers who sheds the blood of your brothers in the middle east everyday; if you don't see that, you have to start believing that they are your enemies and Allah's enemies. What you are basically doing is praying for them to keep killing your brothers and sisters in Iraq and Afqanistan, You need some serious guidance my brother. If you think anyone can just say a prayer and it would be excepted just like that, then many bad things would have happened along time ago, because every evil doer would wish he is increased in power so that he could murder people. In order for your prayers to be excepted, you need to a true believer before hand, you need to wish for good things such as wishing good for your brothers and sisters in the middle east or elsewhere. But to pray for non believer is just waste of your time and won't be excepted by Allah, surey allahdoesn't except the prayers of the evil doers. And don't even start on me that U.S is doing or has done so many beneficial things for the world, they have caused the most distraction of any nation in the world, dating back to the time they have conquered this land til this day. Anyways that is another topic and I won't get involve in it unless you make me. Assalamu Calaykum.
  23. What is the 15 for you son?
  24. Assalamu Calaykum, Ibtisum, you are so quick to give everyone the title of being a Shiekh, how nice of you. I think you could wish for Khalaf to be a Sheikh, because you don't realize that he is actually flirting with you. I wonder how can Sheikh flirt with someone whom he knows nothing about or does he? It takes time, patience, and determination to become a sheikh, every sweattalker cannot acquire the title "Shiekh" unless they have worked very hard on it. I doubt Khalaf fits any of those categories and neither do I. Assalamu Calaykum.
  25. assalamu Calaykum, Ibtisam, you are right to some extent, I do have a beard that is just about to bloom, although it hasn't reach the phase of earning to be called a "beard", but it's getting there, then you could call it fluffy. It's actually an honor to have a beard, it would look good on me and would earn me more respect too. Furthermore, you could stare at the webcam all you want, you won't be able to catch me misbehave, it just won't happen at all. I am good looking won't you say, get closer to the screen so you can see me better. Wow, you do have contacts on; this time the green ones. Now I get what Khalaf was refering to earlier today. Assalamu Calaykum.
