A 'prehistoric' species of deep-sea shark rarely seen alive has been captured on film at a Japanese marine park. Staff at the Awashima Marine Park in Shizuoka, south of Tokyo, shot the footage of the 1.6m long fish after being alerted by a fisherman at a nearby port. It was identified as a female frilled shark, an eel-like creature with a mouthful of needle-sharp teeth that usually lives below 600m. Sometimes referred to as a 'living fossil', the frilled shark is a primitive species that has changed very little since prehistoric times. They feed on other sharks and fish and are sometimes brought up dead in the nets of deep-sea trawlers, but have only very rarely been seen alive. By the time the shark was moved to a seawater pool in the marine park it was in poor condition, but was filmed swimming and opening its mouth. "We believe moving pictures of a live specimen are extremely rare," said an official. "They live between 600 and 1,000m under the water, which is deeper than humans can go. "We think it may have come close to the surface because it was sick, or else it was weakened because it was in shallow waters." The shark died a few hours later.

Allahu Akbar.A true Son of Somalia has killed a filthy Xabashi and then stepped right over his dead body. Ethiopian soldier dies in Somalia -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ethiopian Soldiers in Somalia() hadhwanaag 2007-01-25 (Hadhwanaagnews) Somali army commander Abdulrazak Afgudud told the BBC that several people had been arrested. The Ethiopian soldiers were on board a pick-up truck when the gunmen shot at them and escaped. Ethiopia has begun a phased withdrawal of its troops from Somalia after helping the government oust Islamists. The African Union is putting together a peacekeeping force to replace the Ethiopians. AU chair Alpha Oumar Konare has appealed to countries across the continent to send peacekeepers to Somalia, saying there could be a "tragedy" without rapid intervention. He said Ghana had agreed to supply troops, following Uganda, Malawi and Nigeria. He was speaking ahead of next week's AU summit, at which the situation in Somalia is set to be high on the agenda. In neighbouring Kenya, one of the main financial backers of the Union of Islamic Courts faces being sent back to Somalia, after pleading guilty to illegally entering Kenya. A lawyer for Abubakar Omar Aden, a 72-year old businessman, who once controlled Somalia's El Maan port, said his life would be in danger if he was deported. One of the UIC leaders, Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed, is also in Kenya, where he has held secret talks with US ambassador Michael Ranneberger. Since the Islamists were removed from power in Mogadishu, Kenyan has closed its borders and deported dozens of Somalis who fled into the country. Market shut The BBC's Mohammed Olad Hassan in Somalia says the Ethiopian soldiers were shopping at the time of the attack and were caught unawares. "The gunmen used pistols and they have taken away AK-47 riffles from the Ethiopian soldiers," witness Abdullahi Hassan told the AP news agency. Business premises at the market have been shut down following the attack - the first since Ethiopians and government troops took control of Kismayo earlier this month. Some Islamists have pledged to conduct a guerrilla war against government forces. More than 3,000 Islamist gunmen are believed to have gone into hiding. Kismayo was the last major town held by the Union of Islamic Courts to be taken by Somali government and Ethiopian forces. Source: BBC Worldsevice Submited By hadhwanaag : 2007-01-25 -

lol@to chase them away. yeah forget the birds, they will come down once we have enough supply of shimbara laaye. As for the mujaahidada Mystic.Well, fresh new face is always good to get this thing rolling again Insha Allah. We prayed for them we hope that Allah secures them into taking back our country from the invaders from Abysinia. Indhacadde's tactics didnt' work at all, so I think it's abou time the ICU re thought through everything and operated like the type of fighting force they were meant to be,Gorrila fighting force. They should continue the suprise attacks, until they get enough man power, and weaken the Addis regime significantly. They should continue until the people in Addis feel the heat coming from the East,so that they feel threaten and scared in their own towns. Besides, we don't need Abdullahi Yusuf, he will come and go as he came.If the Xabashis are defeated, then he will share the same fate with them. The thing we need to do is get rid of Ethiopia however it takes. They shall realize they have made the biggest mistake ever in invading Somalia. -
Reposted to remind us: Ethiopia fails to prove British jihadis caught By Colin Freeman and Mike Pflanz in Nairobi, Sunday Telegraph Last Updated: Ethiopia's claims that it has arrested British citizens in operations against Islamic fighters in Somalia looked increasingly dubious last night after the Foreign Office said that requests for proof had drawn a blank. Meles Zenawi: Questions remain over his claims Meles Zenawi, Ethiopia's prime minister, whose forces ousted Somalia's Islamic Courts Union from power over New Year, said on Tuesday that the Britons were part of an "international brigade" of hard-core foreign jihadis targeted in Monday's US air raid in southern Somalia. Ethiopian troops occupying the area later claimed to be holding seven British passport-holders injured in the strike. The captured men were said to be Somalis resident in Britain who had returned to fight for the Islamic Courts. However, despite five days of urgent requests for further details, London has yet to be given names or passport numbers to check against Home Office and anti-terrorist- databases. A final Foreign Office put-up-or-shut-up request on Friday had come to nothing by yesterday afternoon. It is understood that British officials, deeply anxious at the prospect of a Somali terror cell with links to Britain, also made their own inquiries via the High Commission in neighbouring Kenya and MI6, but have yet found nothing to support the claims. The Ethiopian government's failure to provide evidence will heighten suspicions that Mr Zenawi may have talked up the possibility of foreign jihadists to help justify the invasion. Ethiopia is an historical enemy of Somalia. advertisement While Mr Zenawi's forces went in ostensibly in support of Somalia's exiled transitional government, critics allege it was part of a wider plan to consolidate power over an unstable neighbour. The question marks over the Ethiopian version of events will add to the growing doubt over the wisdom of the American airstrike on the village of Ras Kamboni, near the Kenyan border, in which up to 100 people are believed to have died. On Thursday, the US ambassador to Kenya, Michael Ranneberger, admitted that none of the wanted al-Qaeda terrorists who were the original target of the gunship had been killed or captured. Critics say the move, the first American action on Somali soil since the 1993 Black Hawk Down disaster forced US troops to pull out, risks undermining support for its war on terror in the region and will shore up support for the Islamists. While Mr Ranneberger has denied that large numbers of civilians were caught up in the attack, the British-based charity Oxfam said yesterday that its Somali partner organisations had reported that 70 nomadic hersdmen were killed in the strike. Ethiopia has denied exaggerating the Islamist threat to win US backing for its cause, and insists its incursion on to Somali soil was partly in "self-defence". The government claims that Islamist fighters suspected of affiliation to Somalia's Courts faction have been trying to stir up tensions in Ethiopia, mounting cross-border raids to kill Ethiopian Christians. However, the invasion has increased the risk of instability within Somalia, where the Islamic Courts militias had brought peace after nearly 15 years of anarchy under dozens of rival warlords. Since the Islamic militias were deposed from their stronghold in the Somali capital, Mogadishu, residents have complained of increased incidents of lawlessness once again, including carjackings and armed feuds. "People are fearing a return to the chaos that the Islamic Courts ended," said Ahmed Abdisalam, of the Mogadishu radio station Horn Afrik Media. Ethiopian soldiers who have helped to instal Somalia's transitional government have also been accused of a series of assaults on civilians. Troops have stopped buses outside Mogadishu and roughed-up travellers in an attempt to hunt down anyone who supported or fought for the Islamic Courts Union, according to United Nations officials. A UN report says they are also believed to have killed several ethnic Somalis from Ethiopia's disputed Oromo region, who had gone to Somalia to take up arms with the Islamists. Five men in Ethiopian army uniforms also allegedly raped a woman near the Kenyan border, Western aid workers said. "This is not the only incident. We are receiving many of these reports," said one. "War is not an excuse for these actions, nor is victory." At the same time, Islamists from the Courts' ultra-hardline al-Shabab group are said to be targeting civilians seen to be supporters of the transitional government or the Ethiopians. Yesterday a three-month period of martial law was announced and transitional government forces went on house-to-house weapons searches in Mogadishu. Discussions are now under way for an African Union peacekeeping force in Somalia, possibly under overall UN control.

Jacayl, you too as well, stick to Somaliland, if you arent' against the occupation of Southern Somalis, then please spare your comments for us and dont' refer those whom their homes are being occupied by Xabashis as "crying babies"..that is mean.
